MOONETTE – Organic Skincare for Mature Skin

We are a Torrox-based company specialising in the creation of formulae which help prevent premature skin ageing. We are committed to making effective products at affordable prices.
Your skin health matters to us. How you feed your skin is as important as how you feed your body. Why settle for anything less than natural and organic?
As our skin is the first layer of our defence against microbial infections, ultraviolet radiation and environmental contamination it plays a vital role in our health. As we grow older, however, our skin becomes thinner, wrinkled, and more sensitive; hence it requires the use of treatments containing specific ingredients to the care of treating mature skin.
Recognising this need we have created a range of formulae which help
-slow down ageing process by smoothing fine lines and wrinkles.
-improve facial complexion and eliminate blemishes.
At Moonette, we are passionate about health, beauty and plants. Your skin will benefit from the properties of botanic essential oils combined with a selection of nutrients for deep hydration, cell revitalization and antioxidant effect, all sourced from the finest natural ingredients with gorgeous fragrances.
Naturally, we care about our planet and feel the need to help reduce the sheer volumes of plastics waste that are generated daily around the globe. Presently, we are minimizing the usage of plastic materials in our production while seeking alternative forms of packaging. To help reduce pollution we are asking all local customers to recycle or reuse their Moonette skincare containers, and offering a small discount on future purchases to customers recycling containers.

Inflammation – A Psychological Thriller:
– Set in London, Brighton, Oxford, and Málaga; this fast paced novel follows Adam, a Psychologist, as he struggles to cope with life after the brutal murder of his truest love, Lorelei, at the hands of her abusive ex-partner. In the midst of his grief, and the guilt from his sense of having failed her; he lives on countdown, awaiting the release of the perpetrator. Furious with a criminal justice system that by its very nature only ever acts after the event, and increasingly feeling the need to do something for the cause in the meantime; the obsessive urge to intervene using his psychological skills, overpowers him. Will he even make it to the release date, or will he already have gone too far?
– I wrote this novel in and around Málaga province; in Torrox and Nerja particularly. It is a psychological/suspense/crime thriller, and would certainly be rated 18+ in places. It is available on Amazon in paperback and ebook in various countries. The links for the UK and Spain are below, and it is best to order it from where you currently are, and/or to where you would like it delivered. I very much hope you enjoy it (please leave a nice amazon review if so); and a big heartfelt thank you to anyone who orders it, and in doing so, is supporting an independent author.

ANDALUCIA

Unemployment rises in Andalucia by 30,700 people from July to September, now at 18.67%: {Translation, summary}
– Unemployment has risen in Andalucia by 30,700 people in the third quarter of 2023, which is 4.12% more than in the previous quarter in the region, up to the total number of unemployed at 775,200 people, according to the Active Population Survey (EPA) published Thursday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
– At the national level, unemployment rose by 92,700 people in the third quarter of the year, which is 3.3% more than in the previous quarter and its highest in absolute values since the third quarter of 2020, in the midst of the pandemic. The total number of unemployed in Spain thus rose to 2,855,200 people and the unemployment rate advanced two tenths, to the 11,84%.
– Andalucia, with 18.67% unemployed, ranks third in this third quarter in unemployment rate among the Autonomous Communities, surpassed only by the Autonomous City of Ceuta (27.79%) and Melilla (20.89%). Andalucia is followed by Extremadura (16.50%) and the Canary Islands (15,23%).
– The Andalusian unemployment rate of 18.67% is 6.83 points higher than the national unemployment rate (11,84%). The female unemployment rate is 5.16 points higher than that of men in Andalusia. Thus, the male unemployment rate is 16.28% in the community compared to 10.26% in the country as a whole, while the female unemployment rate is 21.44%, 7.85 points higher than the national average.
– Jaén and Granada have been the Andalusian provinces with the highest unemployment rate with 23.25 per cent and 21.45 per cent, respectively. It is followed by Cadiz, with 21.38%; Almería puts its rate at 19.83%; Huelva at 19.61%; Córdoba at 17.89%; Seville at 16.25 per cent; and Malaga is the province with the lowest rate (16,05%).

TORROX

Interview with Oscar Medina, mayor of Torrox- “There is social alarm, 250 immigrants are coming to a town of 22,000 people”: {Translation in full} Updated 26/10/2023, 09:15
– Óscar Medina, mayor of Torrox (Málaga), has denounced in an interview with OKDIARIO Andalucía the bad manners of Pedro Sánchez’s government when it comes to transferring illegal immigrants to this small Malaga municipality of just 22,000 inhabitants. He explained that he was informed by the Red Cross and not by the government that up to 250 illegal immigrants were going to arrive in the town, which has generated “social alarm” in Torrox, where they will stay in a luxury hotel {pic}. This is very similar to the situation in Almería, where more than 300 immigrants are already staying in a four-star hotel.
– “I was informed this Monday afternoon by the head of the Red Cross in Malaga. He tells me that 250 migrants are coming to a hotel in Torrox. And I could not imagine that I would find out from the Red Cross, because we are in a state governed by the rule of law, the mayor is the highest authority of the state in the municipality, and I understand that it is the Spanish government that has to inform me,” laments Óscar Medina.
– “This is not the way to proceed in a democratic state governed by the rule of law, especially on the part of those who talk so much about dialogue. But dialogue with everyone. So, when we talk about dialogue with people who do not respect the Constitution, I find it very sad that they do not have it with a democratic mayor”, says Óscar Medina, mayor of Torrox, who does not know if more immigrants will arrive between now and the end of the year.
– Óscar Medina assures that “this Tuesday the sub-delegate of the Government in Málaga has already called me, and we are going to meet in the Town Hall of Torrox with the Guardia Civil and Local Police, because 250 undocumented migrants are arriving, without identification, who are illegally in Spain and are going to be able to wander freely around the municipality. It is a bit paradigmatic that a Spaniard has to register with the DNI in any hotel and they do not. And there are 250 people”, he continues.
– “The municipality of Torrox is not big enough to absorb 250 illegal immigrants, who do not speak our language, all at once. It is a new challenge for us,” says Óscar Medina, the mayor of the Malaga municipality, who stresses that “we have put ourselves at the disposal of the Red Cross because we want the best for these people. “We are 22,000 inhabitants, and they come to a small village, with elderly people living in small houses,” explains Óscar Medina, who wonders: “How do we explain to the citizen that he has to register at the hotel yet 250 unidentified people are going to do it without any registration?
– “We don’t know from what sanitary and health conditions they come. There is a social alarm that has been generated by the news, because Torrox is going to be the only municipality in Malaga that is going to house these migrants that the government is bringing from the Canary Islands”, says the mayor, who, when asked if the municipality is prepared, replies: “It’s an enigma. We don’t know”.
– “When the Ukrainian refugees came, it was different, because we all did our part to welcome people who came from a war they had not entered. But in this case, without prior warning and by a unilateral decision, the government decides to bring 250 migrants to a hotel that they will have practically for themselves. And the normal thing is that they want to leave. But I don’t know what the situation is going to be like. It’s a very unfair situation, because if we show solidarity, we all have to show solidarity”, laments Medina.
– It could affect tourism. “They will be in a hotel, but they will have free movement. And they are 250 undocumented immigrants who will be there illegally and will be able to move freely around Torrox and the neighbouring municipalities”, insists Óscar Medina, who is particularly concerned about whether this could affect tourism in the municipality: “I hope it doesn’t affect tourism, because it is a market that moves with very complex factors. We are growing in terms of tourism. We are becoming a luxury destination, many people are arriving from northern Europe and the USA, who are looking for peace and quiet in Torrox… And I hope that a municipality that is growing so much in terms of tourism, with this image that we are going to give to Spain and the world that we have migrants from the Canary Islands, that it doesn’t affect it”.
– “What I criticise is the attitude of the Spanish Government. I don’t understand why it has decided that a third of the 1,000 people who will come to Andalusia should come to Torrox. I hope we don’t have problems of coexistence”, says Medina, who opens another debate: “There is another debate that is being raised. And that is that there are people who, with the way prices are rising, are having a hard time. That is another debate. But a person who has a pension of 400 euros and can’t make ends meet will see how a person who arrives illegally stays in a four-star hotel. “This is going to change the daily life of the population,” he concludes. Source, Spanish: https://okdiario.com/andalucia/oscar-medina-alcalde-torrox-hay-alarma-social-vienen-250-inmigrantes-golpe-pueblo-20-000-personas-11790709

ALMUÑÉCAR

Popular beach bar forced to close due to complaint over smoke from famous grilled sardines:
– One of the most iconic sights along the Costa del Sol and Costa Tropical in summer is the dug-out boats belonging to traditional beach bars or ‘chiringuitos’ in which ‘espetos’ – sardine skewers are grilled in open fires. However, in Almuñécar-la Herradura, complaints from local residents and visitors about the smoke and embers that the boats create has led to one having to temporarily close and make staff redundant.
– Following a complaint from a tenant in a property on Almuñécar’s San Cristóbal promenade Almuñécar-La Herradura town hall has closed the ‘espeto’ boat at the Dorada de Plata chiringuito, one of the most emblematic establishments on the Granada coastline, it has even appeared in Forbes magazine as one of the best beach bars in Spain. This decision has angered the owner, who has temporarily closed the establishment as he is unable to use the barbecue boat to grill the fish.
– The owner of La Dorada de Plata says that it has been grilling sardines in its boat since 1966 and that now 18 people have lost their jobs as customer numbers have fallen by 90 per cent.
– “There are more than 400 homes on San Cristóbal beach and they sealed my boat because of the complaint of one resident,” Mingorance said. He claims that the person who lodged the complaint lives in the Mariote building, located 67 metres from the ‘chiringuito’ and his flat does not overlook the promenade.
– “I don’t understand how he can be bothered by the smoke from so far away and above all how they have identified it as mine when there are many other restaurants in the area. I don’t understand why I am the only one who has to take action,” he pointed out and added that he has got his lawyer involved. Photo: Javier Martín.

Anyone Remember Morning Maniac Music? Jorma Kaukonen, Jack Casady, Grace Slick, Marty Balin, Spencer Dryden & Paul Kantner, plus Nicky Hopkins on keyboard for this gig. What a band, The Jefferson Airplane! Some people say they were largely responsible for the end of the Viet Nam War as the Peace Movement followed their concerts around America, spreading the word thru the network of college campuses where the band performed. Strange, not many “Volunteers” for the Peace Movement these days…maybe it’s the music?  Video Link & Video Link 2
