XVII International Chess Open of Malaga City:
The Russian Museum of Malaga will host the XVII City of Malaga International Chess Open from Tuesday 7th to Sunday 12th November.
On this occasion, two tournaments will be played and, at the same time, the Museum has prepared a parallel cultural programme to complement this important sporting event in our city- conferences, workshops, film screenings and a children’s tournament to be held in the Plaza Tabacalera.
The official tournaments are:
– Closed Masters Tournament valid for grandmaster and international master standards. Players must be titled and apply for registration by email open@ajedrezmalaga.org
– XVII International Open under 2400s. From the 10th to the 12th of November. The capacity will be limited to 100 players. The Swiss System has been established, according to VEGACHESS program, 7 rounds. The pace will be, for each player, 60 minutes plus 30 seconds increment per move.

The judiciary stands up to Sánchez- the amnesty “means abolishing the rule of law”: {Translation, summary}
– The General Council of the Judiciary has approved on Monday the institutional declaration against the amnesty proposed by eight conservative members of the body, a text that warns of the consequences for the separation of powers of a measure that aims to benefit defendants, fugitives and convicts of the ‘procés’.
– As ABC has learned, with nine votes in favour, the majority of the body expresses its “intense concern and desolation for what the amnesty means in terms of the degradation, if not abolition, of the rule of law in Spain”. Whatever the formal or apparent justification given in the preamble of the future law, its real motivation has already been expressed; and beyond the discussion on whether amnesties to circumvent the constitutional prohibition of general pardons are really constitutionally acceptable, what is unacceptable is to accept that amnesties should be used as a way of avoiding the constitutional prohibition of general pardons,” said the majority. “What is in no case acceptable is an amnesty, and not even a particular pardon of those generically admitted by the Constitution, with the real motivations expressed by the acting president of the Government”, states the text. Five members, all PSOE members, voted against the decision.
– In its institutional declaration, somewhat broader than the initial proposal as two new points have been added, the Council points out that this amnesty confuses the “interest of Spain” with the interest of the acting Prime Minister to avoid the hypothetical formation of governments of parties of a different ideology to his own, is “something manifestly incompatible with political alternation, embedded in the basic principle of political pluralism”, the highest value of our legal system. “But to do so by exempting the application of the law to prevent the ongoing action of the courts or to render ineffective that which has already taken place by means of firm sentences, turning those sentences into a dead letter, is something categorically incompatible with the principle of the rule of law in which, according to article 1 of our Constitution, Spain was intended to be constituted and indeed was constituted… at least until now”. – In the midst of the PSOE’s negotiations with Junts that are taking place in Brussels (Belgium), for the investiture of Pedro Sánchez, after closing an agreement with ERC, the two pro-independence parties have registered in the autonomous Parliament the conclusions of their Study Commission on the Historical Debt of the Spanish State with Catalonia. Their document states that Spain has ‘robbed’ Catalonia of 465,000 million euros between 1982 and 2022, and demands the cancellation of the Generalitat’s debt: 73,000 million euros. Thus, to ‘compensate’ for this ‘theft’, Junts and ERC propose a series of measures that should be applied, pending Catalonia’s separation from Spain.
– Just a few days after learning that the Socialists, in order for Sánchez to repeat in La Moncloa after 23J, have agreed to forgive the Catalans the payment of 15,000 million euros of the 73,000 million euros owed to the State, the Junts and ERC want more.
