– If you rely on your computer and want it secure and running at peak performance an annual professional servicing is necessary. Your computer may not be slow, but today’s malware does not slow performance as it used to. Just because it appears to be running well does not mean the device is secure, you are still collecting malware, trackers and data miners when you go online. You wouldn’t drive your car till it runs out of oil before servicing it, would you? I do the most comprehensive cleaning and tune-up possible: verify all System files replacing any found to be corrupt, test all hardware and do hard disk sector repairs if needed, use 5 tool malware/adware/spyware/tracker removal protocol, clean out junk files/logs/history/etc., update Windows(or MacOS)+all drivers+programs and finally optimize your settings and registry for fastest overall performance.

Recommendation for SPW construction: Having used SPW construction for a couple of medium-sized refurbishment projects of our old mill, we have taken up the handyman and tree cutting services and are very happy with the work carried out. Bill the handyman is charming, efficient and capable – possessing a wide range of skills. Amongst all sorts of work he has repaired lots of things; includes bringing garden furniture, that garden furniture my husband wanted to put on the the bonfire, back to life. We have already booked a third fortnight of Bill’s time in the Spring. Scott also provided someone to cut back a large ficus tree in a tricky position, that has caused others difficulty. The workmen did exactly what we wanted to the tree without any damage to the plants beneath it or the fragile pergola that it overhangs. We will not be looking any further for people to cut back our oleander hedge. I highly recommend these services. Call SPW on 622 938 440.

SPAIN

The PP estimates its mobilization against the amnesty at two million people across Spain: {Translation, summary}
– The rallies called by the PP against the pacts signed by the PSOE with the pro-independence supporters that include the amnesty have overflowed the streets of Madrid and the rest of the provincial capitals this morning.
– In Madrid, the Puerta del Sol soon became too small and people had to fill the adjacent streets as far as Callao and cut off traffic from Cibeles. The pedestrian arteries emanating from the Puerta del Sol were filled with people, offering an image of disarray and overcrowding that surprised the PP itself. The PP organisation put the attendance at 500,000 people in Madrid. The Government Delegation from the PSOE, whom the protest targeted, estimated it to be 80,000. There were no incidents. The Association of Prosecutors asks State Attorney General García Ortiz to resign due to his “passivity” with the PSOE-Junts pact: {Translation, summary}
– After the three professional associations of prosecutors this week rejected the terms of Pedro Sánchez’s investiture pact that the PSOE has signed with Junts, institutional tension escalated yesterday during the congress organised in Jerez de la Frontera by the Association of Prosecutors (AF), the majority group.
– The state attorney general, Álvaro García Ortiz, had been invited to give the closing speech of the conference. Minutes earlier, he had shared a table on the podium with the president of the association, Cristina Dexeus, who was in charge of stating the conclusions of the congress.
– The last of these was categorical: “Given the passivity shown by the Attorney General in defending the rule of law, the effective separation of powers and the independence of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, without having condemned the attacks on our Constitution, we demand his immediate resignation”, she said in his presence!
– The room broke into applause as García Ortiz, as shown in a video to which ABC had access, maintained his composure. Then came his turn, and according to information from the Attorney General’s Office, he responded by alluding to the difficulty of resigning of his own free will from a position such as his when the government is not in session. “In any case, I believe in and defend my model of attorney general and public prosecutor’s office, based on work and legal rigour, and far removed from other areas outside our functions,” he told those present.
– As reported by ABC, all the prosecutors’ associations, in a rare situation, criticised this week Pedro Sánchez’s investiture pact for taking it for granted that ‘lawfare’ exists in Spain and foreseeing that parliamentary commissions will be the ones to analyse in which cases is an intolerable interference in the general principle of separation of powers.
– For the majority Association of Prosecutors, which invited García Ortiz to close the congress, this is “an unprecedented attack on judicial independence that translates into an absolute disregard for our rule of law”. “The use of the term “judicial warfare” (lawfare) used in the agreement is inadmissible, as it is a concept that has no place in our current constitutional order”.
– The Progressive Union of Prosecutors issued a communiqué after the signing of the agreement showing their “absolute rejection” of the references to “lawfare”. “We consider inadmissible the possible creation of parliamentary enquiry commissions on judicial actions, as it would completely pervert the constitutional system of separation of powers,” they said.
– For its part, the Professional and Independent Association of Prosecutors (Apif), which is represented on the Public Prosecutor’s Council, its spokesman, Salvador Viada, stressed the “seriousness” of what has been signed as it implies “a change in the constitutional model”. “The recognition of pro-independence aspirations is being sought through negotiation, a mediator is accepted and negotiations are to be held on the recognition of the right to self-determination. This is a coup de grâce to the Spanish constitutional system”, he pointed out. Source, Spanish: https://www.abc.es/espana/fiscal-general-elude-polemica-pacto-psoejunts-avisa-20231111221631-nt.html
ANDALUCÍA
These are the five best Christmas markets in Andalucia: {Translation}
– Christmas markets are a very popular tradition in Andalucía, where you can find handicrafts, gastronomic and decorative products typical of this time of year. This year National Geographic has included these three Andalusian Christmas markets among the best in Spain:
– Seville Creative Crafts Fair: Held in Plaza Nueva, opposite the town hall. It offers a wide variety of Christmas items and handicrafts, as well as a restaurant area and a children’s entertainment area.
– Granada Nativity Scene Market: It is located in Plaza Bib-Rambla, next to the cathedral. It is the ideal place to buy figures and accessories for the nativity scene, as well as typical sweets and Christmas decorations.
– Muelle Uno Market in Malaga: Located in the city’s port, it has stalls selling food, toys, clothes and accessories, as well as a Ferris wheel and a living nativity scene.
– But you can’t miss the following markets either, although they don’t make the National Geographic list:
– Cordoba Christmas Market: Located in the Plaza de las Tendillas, it has an ice skating rink and wooden stalls with Christmas products and handicrafts.
– Iznájar Christmas Market: It is located in the Paseo de la Constitución, next to the Sanctuary of the Virgen de la Piedad. It has a village and a Christmas market with parades, concerts, shop window competition and prizes. Fright in the supermarket as prices of food continue to rise:
– Inflation was, until last year, like a fine rain that little by little upped the cost of the shopping basket. That drizzle has become a downpour and can no longer be ignored. The escalation in food prices is so strong that it is felt with every visit to the supermarket.
– Their study shows that the average retail price of food in Andalucía rose by 39.5% over the last decade, with the previous decade’s increase being only 21.8%. Some product groups have increased even further: oils and fats, fresh vegetables, fish, meat, flour and pasta are the worst culprits (in descending order). MALAGA PROVINCE
A Sunday in the middle of November with the temps rising in Malaga: {Translation, summary}
– When many, confident in the arrival of the first cooler nights this autumn, had already dared to start the tedious task of changing their wardrobe, these days we will have to leave out at least one light T-shirt. Coats and umbrellas will be unnecessary. The heat could get hotter and there will be no trace of rain. The summer of San Martín, as announced by the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), has arrived this weekend. And it has done so with maximum temperatures of 28 degrees Celsius, which will increase until reaching 30 degrees Celsius on Tuesday.
– The early mornings, however, will not be particularly hot. The minimum temperatures will drop, from the 17C forecast for this Sunday, to the 15C low that the Aemet is already forecasting on its website for Wednesday; until then the heat is expected to continue. From Thursday on, Meteorology expects the thermometers to start falling again and highs will reach only 23C degrees next Saturday. MALAGA CITY
50,000+ turn out across Malaga City to protest against amnesty deal in Spain:
– In Andalucía the PP staged events in the eight provincial capitals against the amnesty for the ‘procés’ and in defence of equality among all Spaniards.
– The people of Malaga gathered near the city’s Pompidou Museum Cube, as well as other locations across the city, to show their rejection of the “pact of shame” between the PSOE and the Catalan independence party Junts.
– According to figures from the Government Delegation (PSOE), there were some 40,000 people in Seville. In Malaga, 30,000 and another 30,000 in Granada. And 15,000 in Cordoba. In Almería, 12,500; 10,000 in Jaén; up to 5,000 in Huelva; and 3,800 in Cádiz. In total, almost 150,000 Andalusians.
– Despite the massive number of demonstrations, sources from the National Police have stressed that there have been no incidents. The PP, in fact, has congratulated itself for the “peaceful” but “decisive” way in which citizens have protested against Sánchez’s pacts in the streets of the community.

ALMUÑÉCAR
Almuñécar firefighters carry out a “laborious and risky rescue” of a young woman: {Translation, summary}
– The Almuñécar firefighters have carried out a “laborious, difficult and risky rescue” of a girl on the cliff of the Peñón del Santo. The action took place on Saturday afternoon, when, “for reasons unknown”, a 19 year old Italian national, was left in the middle of the slope without being able to go down or up, as reported this Sunday by the City Council sexitano. (See her in photo, circle shows her location.)
– For this reason, the fire brigade was alerted and, with the help of the local police, rescued the young woman “after an arduous and complicated rescue task”. “We had to descend to the place where the young woman was, proceed to secure her and begin the rescue,” said the firefighters who took part in the rescue. MIJAS
Level 1 emergency in Mijas: Wildfire forces evacuation of 300 people from their homes on the Costa del Sol:
– A new wildfire has been declared in Mijas on the Malaga province’s Costa del Sol. Andalucía’s specialist forest fire brigade (Plan Infoca) reported early this Sunday morning (12 November) that a fire had broken out in the Venta los Condes area at around four o ‘clock in the morning.
– Five aircraft and almost 100 firefighters on the ground are still battling the blaze, but their task is being made more complicated by winds gusting up to 80 km/h, this Sunday afternoon.
-The incident has led to the preventive evacuation of a hundred people from the homes closest to the fire in the Valtocado residential development, composed of 185 homes.
– In addition, residents of the Rincón del Hinojal, Lomas del Flamenco and the northern part of Mijas Golf (Condesa, Lago Mar Golf, Golf Zenit and Pueblo Mijitas) have left their homes as a preventive measure. With them, the total number of residents evacuated due to the fire amounts to around 300. (UPDATE, 20:30, 12/11: Those who evacuated have now been allowed to return home.) TECH
Blocked from quitting Fakebook by the subscription choice popup?: {DigameXtra}
– To bypass the the FB screen showing the new subscription options, click on “accounts in the Account Center” link near the top of the announcement. This will access the Account Center page to allow you to proceed with deleting the account. After you delete the account, you uninstall the FB app, if applicable. Details below. This is a dirty trick by FB, they want you to think that the 2 buttons at the bottom of the popup are your only choices to proceed.
– I suggest you first save your FB data to save all your contacts and links before you do the shutdown process. I suggest you read this article before you begin the process.
https://www.wired.com/story/how-to-delete-your-facebook-account/
– If you have not yet received the subscription choice message blocking access to your account, and can still access your account, to fully delete your account, when you are ready to delete it, do this:
Settings > Settings & Privacy > Your Facebook Information > Deactivation and deletion. Select Delete account, then Continue to account deletion. It’ll prompt you to deactivate instead if you want to keep using Messenger, and remind you to download your stuff before you go. Hit Delete account, and you’ll have to enter your password and click Continue. And then poof, you’re gone.
– Well, not quite yet. Facebook has a 30-day grace period just in case you change your mind; just log back into your account and click Cancel Deletion. The company says it could take 90 days to actually delete all your account’s data, and that it might hold onto some of it anyway in “backup storage” that it keeps on hand for recovery purposes. But this is as deleted as you can get.
– As there are several different FB apps besides the website, the process of account deletion can vary a bit as all these versions of FB are slightly different.
-I use the FB website on a computer, not the app.
Here is what I had to do to delete my FB account from my PC:
(Note, I have not done the final step yet. I have posted messages on all my FB pages that I will be shutting them this week. I wanted to give a few days to let readers see these messages before doing the final deletion.)
– The deletion steps:
– Sign in to FB. Here I get the popup announcement demanding I subscribe or continue for free.
– Click on “accounts in the Account Center” link near the top of the announcement.
– Click on Personal Details in the left side menu
– Click on “Account ownership and control” in the center of the page
– Click “Deactivation or deletion”
– Click on the account name
– Check the box to DELETE ACCOUNT, click CONTINUE, and follow the prompts.
– Note: “Deactivation” does NOT remove your data from FB. You must Delete an account to clear your data off FB permanently.
– Note: On old devices, or those that have not been updated to current software/apps, this process may not even be possible. you may have to do this deletion process by logging in from another device that is current.
– Note: DoctorLaptop can do this for you if it is beyond your ability. Fee varies on how long it takes, with a €20 minimum (for the first 40 mins). Email: doctorlaptop@protonmail.com for more info.
