As I promised, it’s been ten and a half months free of donation requests. After the last few stragglers were added into last year’s donation drive total, we finally reached the target goal. Well done & thanks again! The holiday season is returning. So now I must begin the DigameXtra 2023 Holiday Donation Drive. I can only produce DigameXtra with the financial support of my readers. So please consider the value you have received this passing year and show your support with a donation. This year’s goal is to receive a donation from 3% of subscribers. If just 3 of each 100 subscribers make a donation the goal will be attained! The 3% group finances DigameXtra for the 97% group that don’t donate. Which group will you belong to? Your generosity is greatly appreciated.

Just like your morning coffee,
what would you do
without your morning DigameXtra?

Although he was not the first Ramone drummer, he was the most representative and only stopped for five years (1982-1987) due to his addiction to alcohol, but he rejoined the group once he had recovered until his last concert in 1996. He was there, and he tells the story in the autobiographical book ‘Punk Rock Blitzkrieg/ My life as a Ramone’, a unique testimony about the beginnings of punk in New York and the mythical nights at CBGB.
With the occasional complicity of friends and guests, among them Andrew W.K, Ken Strigfellow (The Posies, R.E.M.), Michale Graves (ex-Misfits) and Bad Religion guitarist Greg Hetson, while MRB’s vocalist is the Spanish singer Pela, who already paid tribute to the Ramones, as the Gramones in Vitoria (Ramones tribute band from The Basque Country).

Mass demonstration against the amnesty in the Plaza de Cibeles in Madrid, in images: After the success of the previous Sunday’s mobilizations, this Saturday, November 18, hundreds of thousands of people demonstrated in Madrid to make it clear that an important part of Spain does not accept surrender to the separatists. Amnesty Will Have To Wait- The BOE publishes the reform of the Senate Regulations promoted by the PP to delay the processing of the amnesty: {Translation, summary}
– The Official State Gazette (BOE) published this Saturday the reform of the Senate Regulations, promoted by the Popular Party, to delay the processing of the amnesty law for up to two months and force the President of the Government and the ministers to appear at the Upper House when requested by parliamentary groups.
– Furthermore, the PP have included in the reform of the Regulation the modification of article 182, so that the President of the Government and the rest of its members will be obliged to appear in the Senate when requested by two parliamentary groups or a fifth. of the senators.
– This reform comes into force this Saturday, with its publication in the BOE, and will apply to those initiatives that are being processed in the Chamber on the day of its entry into force. (Observers suggest this move by the right is seen as a way to delay the amnesty until it can be challenged by the EU and the domestic/international business groups who oppose the amnesty which they consider damaging to their financial interests. Well then…If the amnesty gets blocked, then the independence won’t work. Imagine that, Sanchez could wheel and deal his way into re-election, and never have to give up anything that he promised in return for votes. He cannot have been clever enough to have anticipated that, can he? Is that why the King silently went along for the ride while Sanchez was giving away huge chunks of Spain? Sanchez could be half way thru his next term before any of this gets resolved. A new twist in Spain’s most popular soap opera. Ref: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2023-11-13/corporate-spain-slams-premier-sanchez-s-catalan-amnesty-deal#xj4y7vzkg -Ed.)
– For their part, the PSOE and its investiture partners have rejected the reform since they consider that it has been processed “through the back door”, without consensus between the groups and that it violates the Constitution. Furthermore, the socialists have announced that they will appeal the measure before the Constitutional Court.

Spain’s Main Business Group Slams Premier Sanchez’s Catalan Amnesty Deal:
– The board of the CEOE confederation warned that the amnesty plan undermines separation of powers and legal security, the group said in a statement released jointly Monday with three other business groups. The statement also urged that the principles of equality and social cohesion be made the priority “above all other political or economic interests.”
– Police unions, judges, leading law firms, civil servants and prosecutors have all issued statements criticizing the amnesty, which will benefit about 400 people. While most of the statements were issued before the bill was filed, the CEOE is the first major group to publish one since the draft was made public earlier Monday.
– The CEOE’s members include several smaller and regional businesses associations as well as some of the largest firms in Spain’s Ibex-35 index, such as Repsol SA, Iberdrola SA, Telefonica SA, Inditex SA and state-controlled airport operator Aena SA.
– The deal, which also includes references to certain fiscal policies that could be handed over to regional governments, is “creating an increasingly complicated business environment, in which it will be harder to have economic growth and to create jobs,” (as it discourages investment), the CEOE statement said. ANDALUCÍA

Andalusia now has more than 12% of its population on the waiting list to have surgery or be treated by a specialist: {Translation, summary}
– More than 12% of the Andalusian population – 1,034,292 people – is on a health waiting list. The Ministry of Health has published this Friday the updated data [as of June 2023] of patients pending an appointment with a specialist or a surgical operation, information that the Junta de Andalucía has been delinquent in publishing for a year and a half.
– The number of Andalusians waiting for a surgical operation has increased by 20,000 people: from 172,000 in June 2022 to 192,561 patients last June, 11% more. On the other hand, the number of Andalusians waiting for an appointment with a specialist has improved: from the 906,000 patients registered last year to 841,731 in June 2023, 64,269 fewer.
– 25% of the 192,561 Andalusians awaiting surgery are already waiting more than six months. The rate of patients awaiting surgery is 23.24 per 100,000 inhabitants, one of the three highest in the country (the average is 17.55), and the average waiting time is 139 days (the national average is 112 days), behind only the Canary Islands and Cantabria.
– Of the more than 840,000 Andalusians awaiting an appointment with a specialist, 40.8% have been waiting for more than 60 days. There are 101.57 patients awaiting an appointment per thousand inhabitants, the second highest rate in the country, behind Cantabria (108). The average waiting time, in days, has increased in the last year: from 110 days in 2022 to 121 days last June, the second worst figure in the country, behind the Canary Islands (123). Saturday chaos- Couldn’t pay by credit card at the supermarket? Here’s what happened (and just one of the reasons why a cashless society is a bad idea): {Translation}
– All Spanish banks have reported failures this Saturday in card payment transactions, both via dataphone and e-commerce, and in transfers via Bizum, due to a problem that the banks blame on a crash in the Redsys system, which has now been resolved.
– In the last hour of Saturday morning several users have alerted through social networks about this problem, which industry sources acknowledge has affected all entities and “everything”, a failure of the payment platform.
– The same sources told EFE that Redsys has confirmed the full recovery of the payment platform, so that all the services that have been affected (ATMs, payment by dataphone, electronic payments and Bizum) can now operate normally. GRANADA

Healthcare Shortages Reach Granada- Lack of staff causes the closure of beds “for the first time” in autumn in Granada’s main hospital: {Translation, summary}
– The Virgen de las Nieves Hospital is going through an unusual situation in the middle of autumn. According to the unions, it is the “first time” that the main hospital center in Granada has to close beds at this time of the year due to lack of staff. Typically, due to staff being off work, these closures occur during holiday periods such as summer and Christmas, but the lack of staff has forced the closure of eight Traumatology beds and more than a dozen in Vascular Surgery, according to data from the center’s Personnel Board.
– While Health sources make an effort not to talk about closures and prefer to describe it as a “reorganization” of resources, professionals and unions object to a policy that is generating “stress” and making them go to work “without desire” because they cannot face all the tasks that occur in the day-to-day life of a regional hospital that not only covers the province of Granada, but also areas of Jaén and Almería. “We are witnessing the dismantling of our public healthcare and the Andalusian Government’s commitment to private healthcare,” the unions point out. – The UK has identified the first case of a deadly cat coronavirus that early this year killed 8,000 felines in Cyprus. Early in January this year, the Mediterranean island of Cyprus, also nicknamed the “island of cats” for its 1-million-strong feline population, witnessed about 8,000 cat deaths due to the feline infectious peritonitis (FIP).
– FIP is a common condition caused by a type of cat coronavirus characterised by fevers, swollen bellies, and lethargy; and can turn fatal unless treated.
– The latest infection was identified in a cat brought to the UK from Cyprus, after it developed symptoms and was sent for tests and treatment by its owner. In a new study, published on a preprint website, and not peer-reviewed yet, researchers showed that the new strain of infection- F-CoV-23 – is a hybrid of existing feline coronavirus and canine coronavirus.
– “If the cat has not travelled to Cyprus or been in contact with other cats that have visited Cyprus, the risk is minimal,” Alexandros Chardas, Lecturer in Veterinary Anatomic Pathology, and Dr Sarah Tayler, Lecturer in Small Animal Internal Medicine, from the Royal Veterinary College, were quoted as saying.
