As I promised, it’s been ten and a half months free of donation requests. After the last few stragglers were added into last year’s donation drive total, we finally reached the target goal. Well done & thanks again! The holiday season is returning. So now I must begin the DigameXtra 2023 Holiday Donation Drive. I can only produce DigameXtra with the financial support of my readers. So please consider the value you have received this passing year and show your support with a donation. This year’s goal is to receive a donation from 3% of subscribers. If just 3 of each 100 subscribers make a donation the goal will be attained! The 3% group finances DigameXtra for the 97% group that don’t donate. Which group will you belong to? Your generosity is greatly appreciated.
Just like your morning coffee,

Your questions answered by Ruth from Compare Funerals Spain
– Why should I have a funeral plan? Having been funeral planning for over 10 year I’ve experienced some very sad and upset families when nothing is in place. A Spanish funeral plans will ensure that all costs are covered for your funeral service. Getting a prepaid plan will help you feel assured that your family will not be under any financial strain when it comes to paying for your funeral. A plan also means you can have peace of mind that everything has been organised in advance, so your loved ones do not have to make any difficult decisions.
– Why choose Compare Funerals? There seems to be a gap in Spain between independent funeral directors, offering plans at a good price but lacking the security of an established Trust or ability to cover a client overseas and Providers who seem to charge more than necessary. We want to be right in the middle and offer the best of both worlds. Our best-priced plan is only 2,250€ and does the essentials.
– Can I do a payment plan? All our plans are payable in full or over up to 5 years interest FREE. The interest free periods are based on initial deposit. The higher the deposit the less your monthly repayments will be.
– Can I transfer the plan? The answer is YES. You could name 2 people on one plan however if you had a friend/family member pass away we can transfer the plan into a 3rd party’s name.
– What happens if I move? All our plans offer the equivalent service in Spain (including the islands), Portugal, Republic of Ireland and the UK. If you moved to the UK, we would transfer the plan to one of our many partners at no extra cost to you.
– Is paperwork included? Yes, your family will receive a death certificate in Spanish and an international certification in English. We also provide a cremation certificate that allows the ashes on board a plane.

SPAIN
The European People’s Party warns Sánchez that he may lose European funds due to the amnesty, “Spain needs a president who has the trust of Europe and Pedro Sánchez has lost it and will never regain it”: {Translation}
– The European People’s Party (EPP) has issued a strong warning to Pedro Sánchez in view of the upcoming approval of the amnesty law to annul the sentences and investigations against Catalan pro-independence supporters, including those related to corruption and terrorism crimes.
– The vice-president of the Popular Party in the European Parliament, Siegfried Muresan, warned the President of the Government from Barcelona on Monday that he “runs the risk of blocking European funds” because his “attack on the rule of law” is also an “attack on European rules”.
“We do not want this to happen, but the amnesty law is an attack and a clear risk”, added the Romanian MEP, who noted the existence of “a parliamentary majority [the one formed by the PSOE with Sumar and the Catalan and Basque pro-independence forces] that believes it can do as it pleases without respecting the rules of the democratic game”.
– Muresan has defended that “Spain needs a president who has the confidence of Europe and that Pedro Sánchez has lost it and will never regain it”. “It needs a president who solves problems, not one who generates them”, he added, and then called on the Spanish citizens to react to the approval of the measure of pardon for secessionists: “Say loud and clear that you do not accept the attack on the rule of law. I believe that the rule of law will win, that Spain will win, and I ask you to believe the same with me”.
– Muresan’s position took place during a conference of the European People’s Party held on Monday in the Catalan capital to support economic recovery and criticise the Spanish government’s political strategy with the amnesty. The forum was also attended by the Italian Foreign Minister, Antonio Tajani, and the leader of the European People’s Party in the European Parliament, Manfred Weber.
– Weber accused Sánchez of “lying to the Spanish people for not saying before the elections that he was going to grant an amnesty for people specifically linked to corruption, violence and terrorism”. He also affirmed “the rule of law in Spain is at risk”.
– Already last Wednesday, in a monographic debate on the amnesty law, the European Commission officially warned that it will study whether the amnesty is legal: “With care, independence and objectivity”. But the PP is not satisfied and continues to seek unwavering EU backing for its fight against the amnesty.

Is Spain’s socialist ruling party determined to make enemy of Israel? :
{Translation, summary}
– The day after the PMs of Spain and Israel traded strong barbs about the Gaza occupation, Vice President of the Government and leader of far-left Sumar, Yolanda Díaz, has now registered a reform of the capacity of Spanish courts to prosecute in our country crimes of “genocide” committed outside our borders. She does so after her party claimed that Israel is committing genocide against the Palestinians.
– Yolanda Díaz assured at an event in Madrid at the end of October that “we are talking about war crimes and I have been asking for days to clarify legal responsibilities. The history of Gaza has been written.”
– She added that “double standards” must be eradicated and international legality applied because, according to her, “today, Israel is committing war crimes. “The words were launched at an event in Madrid called by Palestinian organizations, groups and NGOs against Israel’s “genocide” in Palestine. The then acting ministers of Social Rights and Equality were also there, Ione Belarra and Irene Montero. And now the ruling socialists are taking official actions certain to enrage Israel. ANDALUCÍA
Spain says private NGOs (Def: Non-governmental organization, a nonprofit entity that is independent from government influence.) decide what is best for communities regarding immigrants, implying no need to consult local elected officials, claim to be within their rights “demanding this ‘solidarity’ “, contradicts statements by mayors regarding lack of advance notice and preparations: {Translation}
– The Sanchez appointed delegate of the Spanish Government in Andalusia, Pedro Fernández {pic}, has indicated that the arrival of migrants to the Andalusian community is “absolutely controlled”, and the entire aid system “structured”, while denying that there is any kind of “disorder”. This was stated by Pedro Fernández in an address to the media before inaugurating the conference ‘Gender Violence. Childhood, Adolescence and Youth’, held at the Pablo de Olavide University (UPO).
– Likewise, the government delegate described the reception of migrants as “an exercise in solidarity” that is taking place at a time of human tragedy, “which is none other than this massive arrival of immigrants in the Canary Islands” and which “demands this solidarity of having to relocate these people to different autonomous communities and different cities”, he pointed out.
– “We have to attend, first and foremost, to humanitarian law”, he said. In this sense, Fernández highlighted the existing collaboration between the communities with non-governmental organisations and with the Ministry of Inclusion, with the Spanish Government, through which “we logically arrive at the availability of certain physical spaces, sometimes in a provisional manner, they may even have been hotels, which have been used or are being used to house these immigrants”.
– Within this context, the Government delegate made it clear that the distribution “is always done under the criterion of the best care”, that is to say, “a redistribution so that there is no community that has to attend to a greater number of immigrants than it can really with its resources {As determined by who? -Ed.}“, he pointed out, therefore, “what is being done both in Seville and in the rest of Andalusia is absolutely humanitarian treatment, perfectly organised, perfectly structured and with the best possible care”.
– In short, concluded Fernández, “what is being done is to provisionally attend to these immigrants until their personal situation is resolved or until they decide to move to another destination, because, logically, the people are not in a situation of detention or detention, but have absolute freedom of movement”. The best honey in the whole of Andalucía is from the Serranía de Ronda:
– The best multi-flower honey in the whole of the Andalucía region is made by Juan Galindo and his bees in Faraján. This was recently determined by the jury of Expomiel 2023, a benchmark competition in this sector, organised by the Cordoba’s Diputación, the provincial authority.
– This honey, called Mil Flores, has notes of thyme, rosemary, and of riverside vegetation. Galindo pointed out that he has native bees; he has not opted for other species, given the doubts as to the quality and the threat that their introduction could pose to the environmental balance. British victims group launches legal action against the Spanish government for ignoring Nolotil dangers:
– A patients group representing several British victims has launched legal action against the Spanish government over claims it failed to safeguard people against the potentially fatal side effects of one of the country’s most popular painkillers, involved in a series of serious illnesses and deaths.
– The drug metamizole, commonly sold in Spain under the brand name Nolotil, is banned in several countries, including Britain, the US, India and Australia. It can cause a condition known as agranulocytosis, which reduces white blood cells, increasing the risk of potentially fatal infection.
– The Association of Drug Affected Patients (ADAF) says adverse reactions to the drugs have led to sepsis, organ failure and amputations. It has identified about 350 suspected cases of agranulocytosis between 1996 and 2023, including those of 170 Britons who live in Spain or were on holiday there. The patients group says that case reports, including a 2009 study, suggest the British population may be more susceptible to the drug’s side effects, but this has not been confirmed by independent scientific study.
– The Spanish health ministry did not respond to a request for comment.
