HOLIDAY FUNDRAISER

 I can only produce DigameXtra with the financial support of my readers. This year’s goal is to receive a donation from 3% of subscribers. The 3% group finances DigameXtra for the 97% group that don’t donate. Which group will you belong to? Your generosity is greatly appreciated.

Just like your morning coffee,
what would you do
without your morning DigameXtra?

-Holiday Donation Info, 2 Methods-
You may drop cash donations off in person and say hello, after 2pm M-F by appointment, or place them in my mailbox beside my door anytime. Due to health reasons, unannounced drop-ins may be inconvenient for me. But if I am expecting you, no problem! Both the door and the mailbox have the name HARRIS on them. Email me for map and directions. Cash donations are strongly preferred.
Alternatively, you may send me an Amazon ES (Spain) “eGift card” by email. You need to have an Amazon.es account. The only info you may need is my name and email address, see those below. Typically you will only need my email address. Remember, this is an “eGift card” sent to me by Amazon, don’t buy a plain “gift card”. Use the link provided below to access the “eGift card” purchase page.
PLEASE DO NOT SEND AMAZON UK eGIFT CARDS
Here is the Amazon.es eGift Card Link, (NOTE: YOU CAN CHOOSE ANY AMOUNT YOU LIKE ON THE FORM, it is set at €50 by default):
https://www.amazon.es/Cheques-Regalo-Amazon-es-mail-Amazon/dp/B07SS5PFJK/
Buy the eGift card for:
Name: N.J. Harris
Email: digamextra@protonmail.com

Total Donations Received As Of Today: 71

(Last year = 96. New goal = 150, 3% of subscribers, a modest target. If just 3 of each 100 subscribers make a donation the goal will be attained!)

UPDATE 18/12/23: As of today we are at 47% of the 150 donations goal with only 20 days remaining. This year there will have been 250 daily issues. A €25 annual donation equals only 10 cents per issue, or €2.10 per month with 21 issues. Surely DigameXtra is worth €2 per month to 3 of each 100 subscribers. 150 donations x €25 = €3750 for 1 year work; €3750 / 52 weeks = €72.12 per week for my 35hrs of work; €72.12 / 35hrs = €2.06 per hour … a 40 cent per hour raise from last year!

ANDALUCÍA

Eleven arrested for belonging to a Nazi paramilitary network in Andalucia: {Translation}
– The Guardia Civil has dismantled a paramilitary organisation of Nazi ideology with the arrest of 11 of its leaders and the investigation of 11 other members in different Spanish provinces, including four Andalucian provinces: Almería, Jaén, Málaga and Seville.
– The agents have carried out eight searches in Malaga and Roquetas de Mar (Almeria), in which they have seized ten firearms, more than 9,000 cartridges, explosives precursors, 34 bottles of sulphuric acid and numerous prohibited weapons including brass knuckles, kubotans, automatic knives and defence sprays, among others. Numerous neo-Nazi propaganda materials were also found.
– Its members were distributed in groups in different parts of the country, holding regular physical and virtual meetings. The association had a “headquarters” in the province of Malaga. The police operation has also been carried out in the provinces of Alicante, Vizcaya, Castellón, La Rioja, Madrid, Navarra, Pontevedra, Segovia, Teruel, Toledo, Valencia and Zaragoza.
– The detainees are considered alleged perpetrators of the crimes of unlawful association, insulting state institutions, assault, illegal possession of weapons and encouraging, promoting and inciting hatred, discrimination and violence towards various groups, according to the Guardia Civil on Saturday.
– The investigations began in November 2021, when the Guardia Civil detected that one of the leaders was disseminating numerous online videos “in which he seriously denigrated and spread hatred towards different groups, especially migrants, women or the LGTBI group”.
Its administrator had a high level of influence within these virtual groups – with 2,800 followers – and went so far as to tell his followers of the need to create an “army” to “put an end to the established regime” and implement his ideology, encouraging them to join it and inviting them to arm themselves.
– At that point, several of the followers created a self-styled “military order” of a “markedly supremacist character”, whose leaders described themselves as “captain general” and “commander”, with “territorial captains” at provincial level. The detained leaders gave guidelines for “arming” themselves, with several members obtaining arms licences and acquiring rifles, shotguns and pistols, while others acquired detonating weapons that could be easily converted into firearms, complemented by bladed and prohibited weapons of various kinds. MALAGA PROVINCE

Two trains collide north of Malaga and more than 200 passengers are evacuated:
– Álora’s El Chorro – Caminito del Rey railway station, north of Malaga, was the scene of an accident {pics} at around 9.30pm this Saturday evening (16 December) between two trains on the medium-distance line between the city and Seville. Renfe confirmed later on Sunday that there were 253 passengers affected by the incident, 153 on the train travelling from Malaga to Seville and 100 on the train in the opposite direction.
– Thirteen people, three of them children, suffered minor injuries. They were treated at the scene and two were taken to the Guadalhorce hospital. The emergency services also reported that several passengers were given assistance for panic attacks.
– The two trains collided sideways on for reasons yet to be confirmed, although some sources indicate that one of them, which was made up of two train units operating as one, may have partially derailed and collided with or brushed against the train coming on the other track. UPDATE 1: {17/12/23 7:30pm}
Train driver ran a stop sign: {Translation, summary}
– The accident between two trains that left thirteen people injured, three of them minors, was due to the fact that one of the drivers, the one driving the vehicle coming from Malaga, ran the stop sign. This has been confirmed by the Minister of Transport, Óscar Puente, in a message on his social networks. At the same place of the accident, Renfe carried out breathalyzer tests on the two drivers of these trains, with negative results in both cases. UPDATE 2: {17/12/23 7:10pm}
Train derails in Cadiz a few hours after the trains collided in Malaga: {Translation, summary}
– The Transport Minister, Óscar Puente, is being overwhelmed by the situation. Only a few hours after the serious accident in Malaga, another train derailed this Sunday in Setenil de las Bodegas, Cadiz. Adif has reported that from 15.30 hours Sunday circulation has been restored on the Antequera-Algeciras line, following the incident involving an Adif work train registered early this Sunday morning at Setenil (Cádiz).
– In the early hours of this Sunday morning, during the scheduled work on the night-time bands used for infrastructure maintenance, an axle came off a tamping machine on the aforementioned line at 06:45 hours, leading to the derailment. No injuries were reported.

NERJA

YIKES! Radioactive Water From Taps In Maro- Aguas de Narixa begins to distribute bottled water in Maro after tap water was declared unfit for drinking and cooking: {Translation}
– The Municipal Water Service of Nerja informs that the Consejería de Salud y Consumo de la Junta de Andalucía, through the Territorial Delegation in Málaga, has issued today a resolution declaring the water of Maro as unfit for human consumption after finding an excess of natural radioactivity in the last analysis carried out by Aguas de Narixa.
– This restriction only affects Maro and NOT the rest of the town, as it is only the water from the Maro spring that has the problem. The district is affected as it is supplied only with water from this spring, while the rest of the municipality receives water from other sources, so the supply in this case is safe.
– According to the Health Authority’s instructions, water from Maro may not be used for drinking or as an ingredient in the preparation of foodstuffs. It can be used for cleaning or personal hygiene.
– The radioactivity detected has NATURAL CAUSES, caused by radiation emitted by certain natural minerals present in the rock and soil through which the groundwater from the Maro spring flows. The low level of the aquifers has probably influenced the increase in these levels of natural radioactivity.
– The classification as NOT SUITABLE FOR CONSUMPTION will be maintained until the levels detected are below the legal limits set out in Royal Decree 03/2023, which establishes the technical-sanitary criteria for the quality of drinking water, and the Health Authority allows the lifting of this alert, a circumstance that will be communicated when this occurs.
– Nerja Town Hall and Aguas de Narixa are analysing possible technical solutions to be able to connect this area to other sources of supply as soon as possible.
– Aguas de Narixa will supply free drinking water to the affected residents during the period of the restriction. The distribution of bottles, which will begin this afternoon, through the streets of Maro. In addition, bottles of water can be collected at the Home and Social Centre from 10:00h to 12:00h and from 17:00h to 19:00h. Water will be distributed at these locations and times on a daily basis for the duration of the incident, although these times and locations may be modified in the coming days depending on the evolution of the service, which will be properly communicated to those affected. A 5-litre bottle of water per person per day will be provided, bearing in mind that this water is only for drinking and cooking, as tap water can be used for all other purposes.
– For any further clarification or information you may require, please contact the Aguas de Narixa office between 09:00h and 13:00h (C/ Málaga, nº 11 in Nerja) or call the Aguas de Narixa free phone number on 900 813 810, available 24 hours a day, every day of the week. SCAMS

New scam targeting businesses in Axarquía: {Translation}
– For some days now a scam has been going on in the Axarquia area. This consists of the scammers, after studying the business and making sure that the owner is not there at the moment, calling the establishment’s telephone number, according to what some of those affected have explained to AxarquiaPlus.
– In this call, they present themselves as a gestor and inform them that they are with the owner of the establishment and ask them to urgently take the money from the cash register and deposit it via bitcoin through some data that they themselves provide, to pay an alleged debt of the business for the non-payment of a tax, claiming that if this is not done, the business will be closed down.
