HOLIDAY FUNDRAISER

 I can only produce DigameXtra with the financial support of my readers. This year’s goal is to receive a donation from 3% of subscribers. The 3% group finances DigameXtra for the 97% group that don’t donate. Which group will you belong to? Your generosity is greatly appreciated.

Just like your morning coffee,
what would you do
without your morning DigameXtra?

-Holiday Donation Info, 2 Methods-
You may drop cash donations off in person and say hello, after 2pm M-F by appointment, or place them in my mailbox beside my door anytime. Due to health reasons, unannounced drop-ins may be inconvenient for me. But if I am expecting you, no problem! Both the door and the mailbox have the name HARRIS on them. Email me for map and directions. Cash donations are strongly preferred.
Alternatively, you may send me an Amazon ES (Spain) “eGift card” by email. You need to have an Amazon.es account. The only info you may need is my name and email address, see those below. Typically you will only need my email address. Remember, this is an “eGift card” sent to me by Amazon, don’t buy a plain “gift card”. Use the link provided below to access the “eGift card” purchase page.
PLEASE DO NOT SEND AMAZON UK eGIFT CARDS. NO TRANSFERS/APPS.
Here is the Amazon.es eGift Card Link, (NOTE: YOU CAN CHOOSE ANY AMOUNT YOU LIKE ON THE FORM, it is set at €50 by default):
https://www.amazon.es/Cheques-Regalo-Amazon-es-mail-Amazon/dp/B07SS5PFJK/
Buy the eGift card for:
Name: N.J. Harris
Email: digamextra@protonmail.com

Total Donations Received As Of Today: 88

(Last year = 96. New goal = 150, 3% of subscribers, a modest target. If just 3 of each 100 subscribers make a donation the goal will be attained!)

UPDATE 22/12/23: As of today we are at 59% of the 150 donations goal with only 16 days remaining, 62 donations short. This year there will have been 250 daily issues. A €25 annual donation equals only 10 cents per issue, or €2.10 per month with 21 issues. Surely DigameXtra is worth €2 per month to 3 of each 100 subscribers. 150 donations x €25 = €3750 for 1 year work; €3750 / 52 weeks = €72.12 per week for my 35hrs of work; €72.12 / 35hrs = €2.06 per hour … a 40 cent per hour raise from last year!

MOONETTE – Organic Skincare for Mature Skin
We are a Torrox-based company specialising in the creation of formulae which help prevent premature skin ageing. We are committed to making effective products at affordable prices.
Your skin health matters to us. How you feed your skin is as important as how you feed your body. Why settle for anything less than natural and organic?
As our skin is the first layer of our defence against microbial infections, ultraviolet radiation and environmental contamination it plays a vital role in our health. As we grow older, however, our skin becomes thinner, wrinkled, and more sensitive; hence it requires the use of treatments containing specific ingredients to the care of treating mature skin.
Recognising this need we have created a range of formulae which help
-slow down ageing process by smoothing fine lines and wrinkles.
-improve facial complexion and eliminate blemishes.
At Moonette, we are passionate about health, beauty and plants. Your skin will benefit from the properties of botanic essential oils combined with a selection of nutrients for deep hydration, cell revitalization and antioxidant effect, all sourced from the finest natural ingredients with gorgeous fragrances.
Naturally, we care about our planet and feel the need to help reduce the sheer volumes of plastics waste that are generated daily around the globe. Presently, we are minimizing the usage of plastic materials in our production while seeking alternative forms of packaging. To help reduce pollution we are asking all local customers to recycle or reuse their Moonette skincare containers, and offering a small discount on future purchases to customers recycling containers.

Inflammation – A Psychological Thriller:
– Set in London, Brighton, Oxford, and Málaga; this fast paced novel follows Adam, a Psychologist, as he struggles to cope with life after the brutal murder of his truest love, Lorelei, at the hands of her abusive ex-partner. In the midst of his grief, and the guilt from his sense of having failed her; he lives on countdown, awaiting the release of the perpetrator. Furious with a criminal justice system that by its very nature only ever acts after the event, and increasingly feeling the need to do something for the cause in the meantime; the obsessive urge to intervene using his psychological skills, overpowers him. Will he even make it to the release date, or will he already have gone too far?
– I wrote this novel in and around Málaga province; in Torrox and Nerja particularly. It is a psychological/suspense/crime thriller, and would certainly be rated 18+ in places. It is available on Amazon in paperback and ebook in various countries. The links for the UK and Spain are below, and it is best to order it from where you currently are, and/or to where you would like it delivered. I very much hope you enjoy it (please leave a nice amazon review if so); and a big heartfelt thank you to anyone who orders it, and in doing so, is supporting an independent author.

SPAIN

EU to take Spain before the CJEU for failing to comply with wastewater collection and treatment regulations:
– The European Commission announced this Thursday that it is taking Spain before the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) after exhausting the file process for failing to comply with the wastewater collection and treatment standards established by the European directive.
– Brussels takes this step after verifying that although some progress has been recorded, the Spanish authorities still have not completely resolved the wastewater deficiencies. The case of Spain dates back to 2021, when the European Executive issued a first warning due to the lack of actions to comply with all aspects of European legislation.
– Brussels points out that Spain “continues not to offer the degree of treatment required for the entire polluting load of the agglomerations or does not offer the necessary treatment results with regard to discharges after treatment.” This is why the European Commission emphasizes that infrastructure must be improved, through new physical infrastructure or with the development of existing treatment facilities. Gasoline hits a new annual low and has already become cheaper by almost 13% since the end of September, diesel also down: {Translation, summary}
– The average price of petrol has hit a new annual low this week after adding a new decrease, the twelfth in a row, and accumulating a reduction of almost 13% since the end of September. Specifically, the average price of a litre of petrol has fallen by 1.35% this week compared to last, to stand at 1.536 euros, according to data from the European Union’s Petroleum Bulletin collected by Europa Press. You would have to go back to the end of last year, when the government’s bonus of at least 20 cents per litre for fuels was still in force, to find a cheaper price at the pumps.
– For its part, diesel has chained its eleventh consecutive week of decreases, with a drop of 1.64% compared to the previous week, to 1.501 euros the average price per litre.
Thus, the price of a litre of diesel has fallen by 11% since the beginning of October and has fallen to levels not seen since the end of July.
– Despite these decreases, at current prices, filling up an average 55-litre tank of petrol costs 84.5 euros, some 8 euros more than at the same time in 2022, when it was around 76.5 euros, including the 20 cents per litre discount in force at the time.
– For diesel vehicles, filling up an average tank (55 litres) costs 82.5 euros, some 3.2 euros more than in the same period in 2022, when it was 79.3 euros including the discount. Source, Spanish: https://www.abc.es/economia/gasolina-toca-nuevo-minimo-anual-abarata-finales-20231221134301-nt.html

Pres. Sánchez Confirms He Is Not Going To Fulfill Promises Made To Puigdemont and the Junts For Their Investiture Votes, Pretends There Is No Connection: {Translation}
– The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, today rejected the possibility of holding a referendum on self-determination in Catalonia because it does not fit in the Constitution and proposed seeking a new transversal agreement with more self-government for this autonomous community.
– Sánchez assured in an interview on RAC1 that no Constitution in the world includes the segregation of a part of its territory. In his opinion, neither a referendum on self-determination nor remaining in the current situation is viable. He therefore proposes as a middle way an agreement for more self-government, which would imply more powers for Catalonia. “If we only talk about a referendum, it is very difficult for us to move forward,” he said.
– As for Catalan demands for autonomous financing, he indicated that there is a bilateral space, but also one of multilateralism in which the other autonomous communities should participate.
– The President of the Government explained that there is no date set for his meeting with the former President of the Generalitat Carles Puigdemont, but “it is logical that it should be after the amnesty law”, as is his meeting with the leader of ERC, Oriol Junqueras.
– In an interview with Rac1 on Thursday, which was picked up by Europa Press, he once again defended the amnesty law because it is constitutional, while the amnesty proposals of the pro-independence supporters in the last legislature were “unconstitutional”.
– Sánchez said that the current amnesty proposal does not arise because of 7 votes won in Congress, as the opposition claims, but because he has won 179 seats in Congress that support his government project.
– He also reiterated that the amnesty will be good for coexistence in Spain and predicted that, in a few years’ time, many of those who are demonstrating in the streets against the amnesty will also benefit from the “coexistence” that will result from the amnesty.
– Moreover, he is convinced that the pardons have already been “beneficial for the normalisation” of the situation in Catalonia. Source, Spanish: https://andaluciainformacion.es/andalucia/1470808/sanchez-rechaza-un-referendum-de-autodeterminacion-y-propone-un-acuerdo-para-cataluna/

More Radioactive Tap Water!- 70% of the tap water that the population in Almería has been consuming is radioactive”:
{Translation}
– Jose María Calaforra, professor of Geodynamics at the University of Almería, has declared that “70% of the water that the population of Almería has been consuming is radioactive”. This alarming statement puts the spotlight on neighbourhoods such as Castell del Rey, La Joya, La Chanca and Pescadería, where this dangerous contamination has been detected.
– In an interview with the newspaper Nuevo Diario, the expert, who is director of the research group Recursos Hídricos y Geología Ambiental and who was president for many years of the Mesa Social del Agua y de Acuíferos Vivos until 2022, points out that the affected water comes from the Pozos de Bernal in the Campo de Dalias, a historically essential source for the city’s water supply. The Delegación de Salud, after carrying out analyses, has confirmed the presence of radioactivity levels that exceed safe limits. In Calaforra’s words, “this water is neither drinkable nor cookable”, highlighting the direct risk to the health of residents.
– Calaforra elaborated on his concerns: “Radioactivity is not something that happens all of a sudden like nitrate or pesticide contamination. This statement suggests that the radioactivity problem may have been present for a long time without being properly detected. In addition, the professor questioned the possibility that the truth about the sampling has been concealed, linking this situation to the works and expansion of the Almeria desalination plant.
– On the elimination of radioactivity from water, Calaforra pointed out that “radioactivity is not eliminated just like that”, mentioning that the use of filtering resins to purify water would lead to the accumulation of radioactive material, creating a new problem of hazardous waste management.
– Calaforra also addressed the long-term consequences of consuming radioactive water, linking it to an increased risk of cancer. “If I continuously ingest doses higher than 0.1 mSv during my lifetime, I will have an increased risk of cancer,” he explained, emphasising the dangers to public health. Andalucia Passes Budget While President of Andalucia Embraces Communism, Says People Want More Gov’t Control Over Their Lives- He’s Supposedly A PP Conservative! {Socialists to the left of us, Commies to the right, and here we are, stuck in the middle again. -Ed.}:
{Translation, summary}
– Andalucia President Juanma Moreno (PP) highlighted the fact that these Budgets “are efficient, the highest in the history of Andalucian autonomy and have a very high social component because, in the end, we practically dedicate a commendable effort to what are essential public services”.
– In this sense, Moreno has expressed his conviction that Spaniards want governments that put general interests above individual interests. “They want less bickering, more management and more interest in their problems”, he said, before expressing his confidence that in the new year “the noise will be lowered” and “we will focus on the problems of Spaniards and Andalucians”.
– Andalucia now officially has a new budget for next year, which the Parliament approved this Thursday with the only votes in favour of the PP-A, whose absolute majority has allowed the green light to be given to a text that has been rejected by the four opposition groups. The budget amounts to 46,753.3 million euros and has finally included a total of 85 partial amendments, 57 of them from the Popular Party. A thief dressed as Darth Vader stabs a man and steals 80,000 euros from him in Malaga: {Translation}
– A thief dressed in the mask of Darth Vader, the protagonist of the Star Wars saga, has stabbed a man and stolen a bag in which he was carrying 80,000 euros.
The events occurred at 11:30 a.m. this Thursday, December 21, in the Plaza Mayor shopping and leisure center. The victim is a worker who was collecting collections from several establishments.
– Apparently, when the man went to pick up the motorcycle he was riding, he realized that his tire had been punctured. At that moment, an individual with a Darth Vader mask stabbed him in the back and snatched a bag in which he was carrying around 80,000 euros. The robber fled on a motorcycle on which an accomplice was waiting for him. The victim, for his part, was evacuated to the hospital with a five-centimeter stab wound in the lower back area. The National Police has confirmed the facts and has opened an investigation for robbery with violence. RINCÓN DE LA VICTORIA

Rincón de la Victoria tightens night water cuts: {Translation, summary}
– The water supply problems in Rincón de la Victoria are not being rectified and, consequently, the water saving measures, already imposed since 24 November, are being tightened. That morning it was decreed that the tap would be closed from 00.00 to 6.00 hours, indefinitely until the situation advises otherwise. Now, from 23.00 hours and until 6.00 hours, the supply will be interrupted.
– No date has been set for the restoration of normality. However, as explained in a communiqué from the City Council, there will be a truce, both on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. Consideration will be given to the fact that these are two very special dates, when families tend to get together. GASTRONOMIA

The €1 tacos in the center of Malaga that everyone is talking about: {Translation, summary}
– “We are the most famous tacos in Malaga”, is how Los Tacos Malaga define themselves and it is no wonder, since in just over a month they have gained a lot of notoriety in the networks and it has been rare not to see at the busiest times, for lunch or dinner, that all their tables are full. The hook is simple: tacos for one euro, a bite of Mexico for only €1, many different options and a flavour that invites you to repeat.
– Located in the centre of Malaga (Calle Casapalma, 11). It is worth noting that they are small tacos, but they are homemade tacos, with corn tortillas made one hundred percent according to the recipe of Mexico City, Nixtamal style.
– The tacos are very varied and we can find some classics such as pork, steak or chicken and others such as mushroom and cheese, beef and chorizo de Ronda and longaniza sausage. But that’s not the only thing they offer, they also have quesadillas, nachos and burritos, which are a little more than the attractive €1 taco price, but are bigger and more complete. To drink, try the classics of Mexican gastronomic culture, such as micheladas, margaritas or cheladas, all homemade. PRODUCT ALERT

Health alert due to bacterial contamination in lubricating eye gels- AaCarb eye gel, Aacomer eye gel and Puroptics eye gel: {Translation, summary}
– According to the information provided, this contamination was discovered during an investigation carried out by the UK Health Safety Agency (UKSHA), still ongoing, which confirmed the potential risk of contamination of the gels: AaCarb eye gel, Aacomer eye gel and Puroptics eye gel and initiated a recall of the affected batches as a precautionary measure. The AEMPS warns that there is a potential risk of infection if the affected ophthalmic gel is used, the risk being higher in people with a weakened immune system.
– Distributors have confirmed that none of them have directly distributed units of the three affected products on the Spanish market. However, it has been noted that the product Puroptics (distributed by Biovantic Pharma) was sold on the internet, either in the indicated format or in single-dose format, so it cannot be ruled out that it could have been purchased through e-commerce. For this reason, the AEMPS informs of this possibility and the cessation of use of the affected batches.

Football News- European justice rules that FIFA and UEFA violate community law with the veto of the soccer Super League:
– The FIFA and UEFA rules making any new interclub football project subject to their prior approval, such as the Super League, and prohibiting clubs and players from playing in those competitions, are unlawful,” the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) ruled Wednesday on the legal battle that the major international soccer associations launched against the Super League, the proposal for a parallel competition to the Champions League.
– The highest body of EU justice stated that club soccer competitions and the exploitation of the rights they generate (on the field or through merchandising) are “quite evidently, economic activities” and “must therefore comply with the competition rules and respect the freedoms of movement, even though the economic pursuit of sport has certain specific characteristics, such as the existence of associations having certain regulatory and control powers and the power to impose sanctions.”

– There would be promotion and relegation between the leagues, with access to the Blue League based on domestic league performance.
