You wouldn’t drive your car till it runs out of oil before servicing it, would you? I do the most comprehensive cleaning and tune-up possible: verify all System files replacing any found to be corrupt, test all hardware and do hard disk sector repairs if needed, use 5 tool malware/adware/spyware/tracker removal protocol, clean out junk files/logs/history/etc., update Windows (or MacOS)+all drivers+programs and finally optimize your settings and registry for fastest overall performance.
Heavily infected comps, computers taking more than 2 minutes to startup or shutdown, or showing error messages, those need a repair, not a maintenance service. HDD hard disks of 1000Gb or more add €10.

SPAIN

Galicia Voters Overwhelmingly Reject PSOE- The PP wins the elections in Galicia with an absolute majority, the PSOE sinks and the BNG consolidates as leader of the opposition: {Translation, summary}
– The PP (conservative right) will keep the government of the Xunta de Galicia for another four years despite the last-minute push from the left, in which the BNG (left wing nationalists, Galician Nationalist Bloc) is consolidating its position as the majority force, far ahead of a PSdeG-PSOE (Socialists’ Party of Galicia) that is sinking to its worst result in history. With 98% of the vote counted, the Popular Party would win 40 seats, two less than in 2020 but still two above the absolute majority in the Galician Parliament, which will allow them to continue governing alone. The BNG, for its part, rises from 19 seats four years ago to 25, and does so at the expense of the socialists who sink to 9 seats, five less than in 2020.
– The left, which in the last week of the campaign had hopes of ousting the PP from the Xunta, has failed to meet its objectives, although within the progressive bloc the reading of the results is very uneven. The good news was for the BNG, which with its 31.5% of the vote obtained its best result ever, with Ana Pontón’s candidacy far surpassing the 25.1% obtained by the historic Xosé Manuel Beiras in 1997. The opposite happened in the PSdeG-PSOE: José Ramón Gómez Besteiro’s 9 deputies (14% of the votes) are the worst socialist result since the establishment of Galician autonomy.
– The PSOE’s bad numbers, however, are nothing compared to the defeat of the two non-nationalist forces even further to its left: Sumar (far left communist) and Podemos (left to far left). Sumar’s defeat is such that Marta Lois’s candidacy does not even manage to come in ahead of Vox (right wing national conservative), which won 2.2% of the votes, compared to Sumar’s 1.9%. In 2020, Galicia en Común party was also left out of the Galician Parliament, but with 3.9% of the votes it practically doubled the percentage achieved jointly by Sumar and the purple party this Sunday.

Exposed- the false narrative of the PSOE, pushing an independence movement in Galacia as the will of the majority- the vast majority of voters disagree: {Translation, summary}
– The big winner of the Galician election night was the PP candidate, Alfonso Rueda, who headed the fifth consecutive absolute majority of the PP in Galicia and the first with him at the head. In an atmosphere of euphoria, Rueda said “everyone was watching us, everyone was waiting to see what would happen here, everyone was watching and Galicia sent a message to Spain without any doubt”.
– “The message is that we don’t want blackmail, we don’t want to be blackmailed, we don’t want to be subjugated. We don’t want privileges of any kind, neither more than others nor less than anyone else. We want equality among all, we want understanding, we want responsibility, we want dignity, which others arrogated to themselves and which was shown to belong to all Galicians,” Rueda said.
“And in case there was any doubt, in case anyone was not clear: we are proud to be Galicians and proud to be Spanish, without tension, without disputes and without problems. We told the socialists and they refused to listen,” continued the president-elect. Sanchez ignores protesting farmer’s demands for more controls on Morocco’s cheap and sometimes dangerous produce- then adds insult to injury by opening a new transit route from the currently blocked Moroccan port of Tarfaya: {Translation, summary}
– The countryside has just launched its latest complaint. One that has to do with its difficulties to compete due to environmental requirements and fiscal costs – something that has been commonplace since the arrival of this government – but also with a new agreement that Pedro Sánchez’s government has reached with Morocco. And it smacks of the president’s latest submission to Mohamed VI: the maritime connection with the port of Tarfaya {pic}.
– The countryside speaks of fear of the entry of agricultural and livestock pests and diseases. And it alleges that “uncontrolled imports from Morocco would represent a serious threat to local production and a danger to the islands’ livestock, with disastrous consequences for the Canary Islands’ countryside”. The Association of Farmers and Stockbreeders of the Canary Islands (Asaga Canarias Asaja) has, in fact, requested that the maritime connection between Puerto del Rosario (Fuerteventura) and the port of Tarfaya (Morocco) planned for this year should not be resumed, as has been leaked following the recent meeting between the Government of the Canary Islands and the Alawi delegation. Secret Sanchez deal with Junts allows Catalonia to exclusively control & manage their own immigration- a privilege he denied every other autonomous community of Spain: {Translation, summary}
– The only state recognised by the EU to negotiate immigration within Spanish borders – which are also European borders- is the Spanish state. But the truth is that, if the details given by Junts are confirmed, Pedro Sánchez’s government has agreed to a transfer of powers to Catalonia that would allow this region to decide absolutely everything related to immigration, without limits.
– To give an example. Catalonia, on the basis of this statement, could – as was feared from the beginning – refuse to take on immigrants arriving from the Canary Islands and demand their distribution among other autonomous communities. And the Spanish government could say nothing.
– Another example: if Catalonia wanted to, it could raise or lower the entry quotas, thus causing the other territories to conform to its wishes in order to comply with the EU’s demands.
– In short, this is a corruption in terms of coordination and institutional loyalty with the rest of the Autonomous Regions that has become exposed, and is being confirmed, as more info on this secret deal is leaked by the Junts insiders. For now, Pedro Sánchez’s government has maintained absolute silence on the future of this transfer of powers.

ANDALUCÍA

Andalucia Farmer’s Protest Enters Second Week With New Roadblocks & Demonstrations: {Translation, summary}
– The calendar of authorised mobilisations resumes this Monday, 19th February, with roadblocks in the north of Almeria, to continue on Tuesday 20th February in Granada, with a demonstration outside the gates of the Government Sub-delegation offices.
– In addition, on Wednesday, 21 February, Asaja, COAG, UPA and Agri-food Cooperatives are planning to hold a demonstration in the centre of the capital of Malaga. In the province of Cádiz, the agricultural associations will mobilise their farmers with a large tractor march that will start early in the morning from the esplanade of the Jerez de la Frontera circuit in a “slow and orderly” march along the right lane of the Los Barrios dual carriageway towards the Port of Algeciras, “the jewel in the crown” of their demands. Once in the Algeciras tunnel, at the height of the Hostal Blumen, on the A-7, intermittent traffic cuts will be carried out every half hour between 11.00 and 13.30 hours, approximately. After this, they will leave their vehicles on an esplanade set up by Algeciras Town Hall and will head on foot towards the Port of Algeciras, where they will carry out all their protests with readings of manifestos and other acts until the afternoon, at around 18.00 hours.
– In Cordoba, the organised protests will be moved to the following week, with a blockade of the motorway to Malaga, at the roundabout of the A-318 with the A-45 on Tuesday 27 February. AXARQUÍA

Axarquía Water Supply Updates:
– A new pipeline that carries treated wastewater from the sewage plant at Peñón del Cuervo in Malaga city via the coastal town of Rincón de la Victoria to irrigate crops in the Axarquía was officially activated on Wednesday..
– Work has begun on connecting underground water supplies from boreholes in the foothills of the Sierras Tejeda, Almijara and Alhama, with the much-depleted Viñuela reservoir in the Axarquía. According to calculations by the Junta de Andalucía, these boreholes could provide around 50 litres per second, which would mean around two cubic hectometres per year. Full article:

Water pressure reduction to hit the Costa del Sol- West:
– A general nighttime reduction in water pressure is to be implemented across the western Costa del Sol from 21 February to comply with a reduced limit of 160 litres per inhabitant per day as set by the regional drought committee on 9 February. The reduction is already in place in Fuengirola.
– The measure was agreed by Acosol, which supplies water to all 11 municipalities covered by the western Costa del Sol Mancomunidad. Those affected are Torremolinos (although it is mainly supplied from the aquifers of the Sierra de Mijas), Benalmádena, Mijas, Fuengirola, Marbella, Estepona, Ojén, Istán, Benahavís, Manilva and Casares.

GASTRONOMIA

What is the white skin that covers the fuet and can you eat it?: {Translation, summary}
– When it comes to eating fuet, there are two types of people: those who remove the skin so as not to eat the white layer that covers it, and those who eat it without any problem.
– It may look like flour or a kind of white powder that covers the skin of the sausage, but it is nothing like that. This white layer is known as a white veil and it is a type of mould that protects the fuet, salchichón, etc. In fact, this mould is necessary for the meat of the sausage to be in perfect condition, as it forms a shell that prevents other types of fungi or substances from entering and spoiling the sausage and making it dangerous for consumption.
– The mould that covers fuet, salami, etc., is created in the production lines. The manufacturer spreads fungal spores on the sausages so that they can proliferate and protect the food from other inedible moulds. In addition, the fungi, which are produced by the bacteria Penicillium nalgiovense and Penicillium chrysogenum, not only keep the sausage in good condition, but are also responsible for the particular aroma of the fuet or salchichón.
– The “white skin” of the sausages is completely edible, so the decision to eat it or not will only depend on each person’s taste. Some people defend its consumption because it gives it a crisp touch that is pleasant to the palate, however, others prefer to remove it because it leaves a slight sweet taste that they do not like.
– What are the signs that the sausage is bad and should be thrown away? The most striking sign is the presence of another mould on the product, which becomes visible on the meat exposed after the fuet has been sliced. And no, you should not cut off the piece that is bad and continue eating without any problem, because when this mould, which can be harmful to health, has appeared, it is likely to have spread to the rest of the sausage, even if it is not visible to the human eye. The best thing to do, much to our regret, is to throw it away. Source, Spanish: https://www.20minutos.es/gastronomia/productos/fuet-que-es-piel-blanca-embutidos-se-puede-comer-5217804/

CULTURE

The last four nuns of Spanish convent in Ronda seek sisters to keep it open:
– The four nuns belong to an Order of Discalced Carmelites – discalced meaning barefoot or wearing sandals. They subordinate their lives to prayer and devotion, according to the convent’s website.
– Now its prioress is calling on sisters everywhere to take a leap of faith, come up to the sanctuary in the mountaintop city of Ronda and stay on for a while to keep it open. Under Vatican rules, convents with fewer than six members cannot remain open. They are primarily looking for nuns from that order. “If any nun should want to come they must show clear signs of having a Carmelite vocation,” Jennifer said.
