Guardian of the Ramone family legacy, Marc Steven Bell, who was the drummer for a good part of the New Yorkers’ history (1978-1996), is now touring with Marky Ramone’s Blitzkrieg. Although he was not the first Ramone drummer, he was the most representative and only stopped for five years (1982-1987) due to his addiction to alcohol, but he rejoined the group once he had recovered until his last concert in 1996. He was there, and he tells the story in the autobiographical book ‘Punk Rock Blitzkrieg/ My life as a Ramone’, a unique testimony about the beginnings of punk in New York and the mythical nights at CBGB.
With the occasional complicity of friends and guests, among them Andrew W.K, Ken Strigfellow (The Posies, R.E.M.), Michale Graves (ex-Misfits) and Bad Religion guitarist Greg Hetson, while MRB’s vocalist is the Spanish singer Pela, who already paid tribute to the Ramones, as the Gramones in Vitoria (Ramones tribute band from The Basque Country). Your questions answered by Ruth from Compare Funerals Spain
– Why should I have a funeral plan? Having been funeral planning for over 10 year I’ve experienced some very sad and upset families when nothing is in place. A Spanish funeral plans will ensure that all costs are covered for your funeral service. Getting a prepaid plan will help you feel assured that your family will not be under any financial strain when it comes to paying for your funeral. A plan also means you can have peace of mind that everything has been organised in advance, so your loved ones do not have to make any difficult decisions.
– Why choose Compare Funerals? There seems to be a gap in Spain between independent funeral directors, offering plans at a good price but lacking the security of an established Trust or ability to cover a client overseas and Providers who seem to charge more than necessary. We want to be right in the middle and offer the best of both worlds. Our best-priced plan is only 2,250€ and does the essentials.
– Can I do a payment plan? All our plans are payable in full or over up to 5 years interest FREE. The interest free periods are based on initial deposit. The higher the deposit the less your monthly repayments will be.
– Can I transfer the plan? The answer is YES. You could name 2 people on one plan however if you had a friend/family member pass away we can transfer the plan into a 3rd party’s name.
– What happens if I move? All our plans offer the equivalent service in Spain (including the islands), Portugal, Republic of Ireland and the UK. If you moved to the UK, we would transfer the plan to one of our many partners at no extra cost to you.
– Is paperwork included? Yes, your family will receive a death certificate in Spanish and an international certification in English. We also provide a cremation certificate that allows the ashes on board a plane.

Rent Control Pushback- The PP communities reiterate that they will not apply the rental price index: {Translation, summary}
– The PP’s rejection of the rental reference price index is absolute. The communities governed by Alberto Núñez Feijóo’s PP party are opposed to applying the new rent controls launched by the government of Pedro Sánchez to control prices in the areas where it is most difficult to access housing, as the PP’s Deputy Secretary for Sustainable Development, Paloma Martín, recalled on Thursday.
– The PP believe that the reference price index prepared by the Ministry of Housing has been implemented “without dialogue or consensus” with the autonomous communities and want to put their dissatisfaction on the table in what will be the second Sectorial Conference of the legislature.
– The reference price index, provided for in the housing law, came into force last Saturday after its publication in the Official State Gazette, but for the moment only Catalonia applies it, as it is the only community that has declared part of its territory to be a stressed area. The new tool sets a maximum and minimum price range – depending on the area and the characteristics of each property – which is intended to limit new rental contracts when the property is owned by a large tenant or is being rented for the first time in five years, as long as it is located in a stressed area. In order to receive this consideration, it is the regional governments who have to apply for it, something that the communities governed by the PP have already warned that they will not do.
– The PP’s Deputy Secretary for Sustainable Development and head of Housing emphasises that capping rental prices and intervening in the market is not, in her opinion, an effective solution to facilitate access to housing and has already failed in cities such as Berlin, Escocia and San Francisco. “What this sector needs is to combat the chronic gap between supply and demand, and what needs to be done is to activate actions to increase the housing stock, such as increasing the availability of land,” she points out.

The CGPJ concludes in a report that amnesty is unconstitutional: {Translation}
– The Plenary of the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ, the constitutional body that governs all the Judiciary of Spain) has approved a report opposing the proposed amnesty law on Thursday. After a plenary session in which two different documents were debated, the majority opted for the one drafted by the conservative member Wenceslao Olea, a text which warns that “neither the doctrine of the Constitutional Court, nor the jurisprudence of the Supreme Court allow us to conclude that amnesty is recognised in our law”. Nine members of the conservative sector voted in favour of this report, while five progressive members voted in favour of the report drafted by Mar Cabrejas in the opposite direction. The president, Vicente Guilarte, and the member Enrique Lucas voted in blank.
– The report drafted by Olea indicates that the bill undermines the right to equality and violates the principle of separation of powers. In this sense, he denounces the fact that by approving the law, the legislative branch will be imposing itself on the decisions of the judiciary in an “inadmissible” way. On the other hand, the document endorsed by the body’s conservatives criticises the processing of the pardon measure, by means of a bill and by the urgency procedure. The Council rejects that the urgency of the procedure is justified, thus joining the Venice Commission’s assessment.
– Finally, the report highlights the absence of references to the Penal Code when dealing with terrorism in the final draft of the amnesty law. This omission is due to “the clear intention” that the judicial bodies should not abide by Spanish law, but rather by European law.
– The decision taken by the Plenary of the Council overturns the strategy that the government had in mind when it decided that the amnesty would be processed via a bill. This formula does not oblige the Chambers to request reports from consultative bodies, unlike bills, which are promoted by the Executive rather than by the parliamentary groups.
– Thus the Popular Party has managed to prevent the amnesty from circumventing the CGPJ’s pronouncement. It has managed to do so thanks to its absolute majority in the Senate, the chamber from which it asked the Council to draw up this report. The CGPJ, which has a conservative majority and has been out of date for more than five years, has finally presented its analysis of the pardon measure. The report, however, is not binding.
– However, the PP will be able to add the Council’s arguments to its frontal offensive against the amnesty law while it keeps it frozen in the Upper House and pushes for a conflict of constitutional bodies with Congress, where Pedro Sánchez and his partners maintain a parliamentary majority. Source, Spanish: https://www.20minutos.es/noticia/5229407/0/cgpj-concluye-informe-amnistia-inconstitucional/

The Senate will ask Congress to withdraw the amnesty because it is not considered a constitutional reform and will go to the TC (Constitutional Court) if it does not do so: {Translation, summary}
– The leader of the opposition, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has found in the organic law of the Constitutional Court a new formula with which to try to stop the processing of the amnesty. The PP will use its absolute majority in the Senate to raise a conflict of powers against Congress, considering that the amnesty law is a “covert reform of the Constitution” and has not been processed in this way, as established in article 188 of the Senate’s Rules of Procedure. The pardon measure will thus lead to the first “clash” between the two chambers in the whole of democracy, since the PP understands, as the Senate’s lawyers argue, that the amnesty should have been processed as a constitutional reform and not as a bill.
– The PP have been joined in their opposition by both the report of the Venice Commission, and those of the lawyers of the Justice Commission of the Congress and the Senate, in order to defend the unconstitutionality of the law. “Enough lies: the Venice Commission does not endorse your amnesty; the Senate’s lawyers say that the amnesty is unconstitutional in a devastating report and you have everyone against you, from the European and Spanish rule of law to the Constitution, to legality, and to the immense majority of Spaniards”. Source, Spanish: https://www.20minutos.es/noticia/5228765/0/senado-pedira-congreso-retirada-amnistia-por-no-plantearse-como-reforma-constitucional-ira-tc-si-no-hace/
MALAGA PROVINCE
El Paso de Cajiz: {Translation, summary}
– The coming Holy Week will be experienced to the full throughout the municipality of Vélez-Málaga. One of the great points of interest is also in El Paso de Cajiz, which is one of the traditional moments that also attracts a high degree of tourist and religious interest. This biblical representation will take place on Good Friday and Saturday of Glory, from 11.30 a.m. each day. Declared a point of Tourist Interest by the Diputación de Málaga, it has more than 230 actors to interpret the Passion of Christ.
– Those interested can attend the two performances of the Passion of Christ which will take place on Good Friday and Easter Saturday, 29 and 30 March, starting at 11.30 am. The origin of the texts, which constitute a great Cajizian heritage, dates back to the 16th and 17th centuries, when they were initially performed in the atriums of the town’s church and, later, on open-air stages”, Jesús María Claros pointed out.
– The deputy mayor of Cajiz gave more details. “El Paso consists of 36 scenes on a stage with stage huts built for the occasion, representing Herod’s Palace, the Judgement Hall, the Well of the Samaritan women and the Garden, in a totally natural setting that gives uniqueness and beauty to this very participative play, staging the act of the Resurrection”, Jesús María Claros concluded.
– We have an enclosure with various services and seating, and there will also be food available. The small bus, which goes from the square, is above all for the elderly people who cannot walk, who find it more difficult to walk. Anyone who wants to can take it, but it is mainly for people who can’t walk. It is very close, very close to the village. So we will perform on Good Friday and Holy Saturday at 11.30 in the morning. We invite everyone who wants to see it. There will be buses leaving from the bus station in Vélez-Málaga and the bus station in Torre del Mar, for all those people who can’t go by car, who can take a bus and get to the village easily,” concluded Juan Mejías. VÉLEZ-MÁLAGA
Four arrested in Vélez for computer fraud of more than €500,000; An association of women affected by breast and gynaecological cancer is among the victims: {Translation}
– A total of four people have been arrested in Vélez-Málaga as part of the Attacus operation against a criminal organisation that swindled companies through computer attacks. According to a press release from the Guardia Civil, the judicial authority has ordered the four arrested persons to be sent to prison without bail following a complaint and the corresponding investigation, which began in the province of Lugo.
– Identity documents of various nationalities, passports and employment contracts, among other documents, were seized during the house search. In addition, hardware and software for the illegal manufacture of the forged documents were also seized. The agents have proved the fraud of more than 500,000 euros to four companies in Spain. However, the Guardia Civil estimates that the total amount defrauded could be as much as one million euros, while the number of companies affected could be as high as 20.
– The investigation began after a scam in the province of Lugo in which the computer method known as Business Email Compromise (BEC) was used, whereby fraudsters intercept email communications to defraud both parties and divert payments to their accounts. Thus, for example, an association of women affected by breast and gynaecological cancer is among the victims of the organisation, according to the Guardia Civil.
– The bank accounts they used were opened using false identity documents, among others, and they recruited foreign nationals with high security measures to avoid the identification and location of their members. They also rented luxury residences and moved between provinces very frequently, renting different vehicles for short periods of time.
– The entire operation has been carried out by the Technological Investigation team of the Judicial Police UO of the Lugo Civil Guard Command with the collaboration of units of the Civil Guard in Malaga, Alicante and Jaen. The investigation is still open and further arrests are not ruled out. JAEN
The Jaén Civil Guard uncovers an eight million scam with a website that pretended to carry out official formalities: {Translation, summary}
– An investigation by the Civil Guard of Jaén has concluded with the arrest in Madrid capital, Valdemoro (Madrid) and Valladolid, of three people accused of a macroscam perpetrated through a website that offered to carry out official formalities. In addition to the detainees, 12 other persons are being investigated for their alleged connection with this scam valued at about eight million euros.
– Detainees and investigated are charged with the crimes of scam, intrusiveness, usurpation of public functions, laundering, misappropriation and membership of a criminal organization.
– The officers estimate that a total of 150,000 people are affected to whom this organization would have managed to swindle an amount of close to eight million euros. The efforts on the fraudulent page ranged from the issuance of registration certificates, criminal offences, working life, European health card to procedures for the identification number of foreigners, among others.
– The amounts paid by the persons applying for these formalities ranged from EUR 19 to 89 euros per management, small amounts, which in many cases prevented victims from filing a complaint or claim.
– The dismantled portal was created by emulating other official pages of the administration, using the same type of letter, official labeling, logos and flags. With this appearance of a public entity, they offered the online processing of these efforts that are actually completely free, but which the detainees claimed with a fraudulent rate. SCAMS
The scam of the ‘likes’ sweeps WhatsApp: There are victims who have lost 18,000 euros in 48 hours: {Translation, summary}
– The police warn of a new scam that has been reproduced for months in which money is offered for ‘likes’.
– The elDiario.es has spent several months investigating this scam with the help of cybersecurity experts and in contact with the National Police. Although there are several variants of the scam, the most common practice is for cyberscammers to contact the victim on WhatsApp to drive them to Telegram, a network from which it is easier to flee without leaving a trace.
– Here is an example of a scam offer: “We work with Instagram companies that are willing to pay for more exposure, so our company needs to hire a lot of employees. I’ll give you a test assignment and, once finished, I’ll pay you five euros to see if you’re ready for work. You can earn between 50 and 600 euros or more a day. Are you interested in working with us?” Source, Spanish: https://www.eldiario.es/tecnologia/timo-gusta-arrasa-whatsapp-hay-victimas-han-perdido-18-000-euros-48-horas_1_11226223.html
