The 8th edition of Cirkorama brings to Rincón de la Victoria, Nerja and Almáchar a varied programme of circus shows: {Translation, summary}
– National companies and international artists will take part in the 8th Cirkorama Circus Theatre Festival from 13 to 23 June. A total of 12 circus companies, 21 shows, two circus galas and two training activities make up the programme of one of the most important events on the cultural calendar in the province of Malaga. The María Victoria Atencia Cultural Centre of the Provincial Council and the municipalities of Istán, Fuengirola, Marbella, Almáchar, Monda, Villanueva del Rosario, Ronda, Coín, Nerja, Cuevas del Becerro, Archidona, Rincón de la Victoria, Mollina, Pizarra, Benadalid and Ardales will be the venues for the shows.
– The Cirkorama shows will begin in Malaga city, specifically at the MVA cultural centre (Calle Ollerías, 34), on 14th June with ‘Quizás no hay final’ by Pistolet. They will continue on 15th June with ‘Mar o cómo sobrevivir a un tsunami’ by Rebe al Revés; on 16th June with ‘Cucko in love’ by Cucko; on 19th June with ‘Lullaby’ by Proyecto Kavauri; on 20th June with ‘Charlas de azucarillo’ by Las Couchers; on 21st June with ‘Nos vamos de Gala’, directed by Antonia Solano and on 22nd June with ‘Hidrática’ by El Cruce.
– The performances will take place from 8:30 p.m. onwards, except on Sunday the 16th of June, when they will be at 12:30 p.m. Invitations will be available from 10 a.m. one week before each event at http://www.mientrada.net . For the performances on 14, 15 and 16 June, they can be downloaded from Monday 10 June at 10:00 am.
– Workshops and Mediation: Cirkorama’s programme is completed with free training activities on 14 and 15 June. A group of thieves who cloned keys on the spot to break into homes in Malaga is caught: {Translation, summary}
– The National Police have dismantled a criminal network in Malaga specialising in burglaries in inhabited dwellings to which 24 criminal offences have been attributed in the province. This operation has cleared up a total of 21 robberies committed in Malaga City, two in Marbella and one in Rincón de la Victoria. Three of those arrested were caught red-handed by the Malaga Local Police at one robbery.
– To gain access to the houses, the investigated used the technique known as ‘impressioning’, which consists of inserting a master key into the lock to which a thin sheet of aluminium is attached, which, when inside the cylinder, is moulded as the intruder makes small movements with the aim of copying the faces of the cylinder until a copy is created in situ, opening the door of the house without leaving a trace. Daytime Home Invasion With Residents Assaulted, Robbed: {Translation, summary}
– A married couple has suffered a violent assault in their home in the Malaga neighborhood of Churriana. The victims were tied up and beaten by some thieves, who fled when they realized the presence of the Local Police in the area. One of them has been arrested.
– The events occurred at 10:20 a.m. this Sunday, May 12. Apparently, the man was in the garden of the chalet doing gardening work when two individuals hiding their faces under balaclavas slipped through the trees surrounding the house. According to sources close to the case, the criminals forced the man to enter the house while they demanded that he hand over any money or jewelry he had in his home. His wife, who was inside the house, was also overpowered by the assailants.

More than 200 counterfeit articles and 300 kilos of irregularly sold fruit confiscated in Vélez-Málaga: {Translation}

1st person to receive a pig kidney transplant has died:
– The first person to receive a pig kidney transplant has died just two months after he underwent the groundbreaking procedure. Rick Slayman {pic}, a 62-year-old from Weymouth, Massachusetts, had a genetically modified pig kidney placed in his body as part of a four-hour, pioneering surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital on March 16.
– Slayman had end-stage kidney disease and had previously received a human kidney transplant, which showed signs of failure after a few years. His doctors proposed the experimental pig kidney transplant as Slayman was restarting dialysis and experiencing severe complications. The doctors hoped that the pig kidney could last years, CNN reported, but, as such a transplant hasn’t been done before, there was uncertainty about how well it would take. Slayman died just weeks after his surgery, but his medical team says there’s no evidence the transplant was related to Slayman’s death.
