SPAIN

Beheadings have become a weekly event in Spain*- Civil Guard is looking for the head of the woman who was allegedly beheaded by her husband in Soto del Real (Madrid): {Translation, summary}
– The Guardia Civil is investigating the discovery of the bodies of a couple, a 53-year-old retired policeman and a 65-year-old woman, inside a chalet in the Madrid town of Soto del Real as a possible case of male violence.
– From what has transpired, the agents consider this account of the events to be the most plausible. The man first decapitated the woman, then moved her head to another location, then returned to the house where the body remained, and killed himself with a shotgun.
– He was Jorge Ramón D., aged 53, and she was Soledad M.A., aged 65, both Spanish nationals. They were married and had one child (Jorge), although she had two others from a previous relationship (Ruth and Anabel). Source, Spanish: https://www.20minutos.es/noticia/5522525/0/la-guardia-civil-busca-la-cabeza-de-la-mujer-a-la-que-presuntamente-decapito-su-marido-en-soto-del-real/
*{I usually skip over these beheading stories. I am posting this one to bring attention to the growing trend of beheadings and dismemberments in Spain, not this specific incident. I see several of these stories every week now, treated as common news, buried on page 3. Fifteen years ago it was almost unheard of and would be in nationwide headlines if it did occur. With the pathological lying of the politicians on all sides & levels, the growing number of home invasions & gang rapes, the inflation & unemployment, the suicidal race to Agenda 2030, and now weekly beheadings, Spain has some serious problems to confront. I asked my old Spanish neighbor about it. He just looks down, shakes his head and whispers “Venezuela”.  Perhaps the “separatistas” are on to something after all? Would Andalucia be better off independent of Madrid as well?  -Ed.}

ANDALUCÍA

Experts warn of first heat wave of summer with thermometers reaching up to 43C in the south of Spain:
– Experts at Meteored have warned, from Friday onwards, anticyclonic weather will prevail. “It will be a sunny day in most of Spain, with a general rise in temperatures. In the centre and south of the mainland – especially in the interior of the Andalucía region – the maximum temperatures will rise by up to 5 and 6C”.
– Next week, “we will have a very prominent episode that could culminate in the first heat wave of this year. Temperatures will remain very high between Monday and Wednesday and an upturn is expected during the second half of the week, with extreme heat spreading to many areas of the country with maximum temperatures between 35 and 40C, with this value being exceeded in the south of the mainland,” he pointed out.
– The scenario will be even harsher in Andalucía. According to meteorologist Miguel Viñas, cities such as Cordoba and Seville could accumulate more than seven consecutive days with maximum temperatures above 40C, “reaching 42-43 degrees”, he revealed. The intense heat will also manifest itself at night, with minimum temperatures that in many places will not fall below 20 or even 25C (tropical and torrid nights). AXARQUÍA

Political parties blame each other over delays to desalination plant for drought-stricken Axarquía, Socialist spokesperson pushes debunked narrative:
– The project to construct a desalination plant in the Axarquía area on the east of Malaga province continues to be immersed in political wrangling, becoming a weapon of war between the centre-right Partido Popular (PP) and the Socialist PSOE parties.
– The PP mayor of Torrox, Óscar Medina, on Tuesday accused Pedro Sanchez’s PSOE government of a “serious offence” by allocating 250 million euros to finance a desalination plant in Morocco, whose works have already begun, having committed to the Axarquía plant in 2023. Medina asked PSOE if “this is how he intends to guarantee local production and not increase dependence on third countries” and called for an urgent action plan to start the desalination plant, which he said, “remains blocked by the lack of momentum and funding”.
– He said that 13 months have gone by since the government announced in last year’s local election campaign the commitment to allocate 100 million euros to this necessary infrastructure. “This is less than half of what has already been allocated to the neighbouring country,” Medina pointed out. “The socialists are trying to justify this inaction by confusing public opinion, despite the fact that the government itself has confirmed in writing, in a parliamentary response, that this work of general interest of the state is within its competence and that, a year after announcing it, it has still not entrusted the management to the public company that should execute the project.”
– He went on to say, “The abandonment of Malaga and the Axarquía by Sánchez’s government is unacceptable” and that “it is for issues like this that the people of Malaga deny them their support in each election process.”
– Finally, the mayor also criticised the hundred or so fines that the government has imposed on Malaga farmers for the demonstrations last February. “These are just demands to save the Andalusian and Malaga countryside, whose response from the government has been an iron fist and a lack of dialogue,” he said.
– The socialist spokesperson at Torrox town hall, Mari Nieves Ramírez, ignoring the fact that the government itself has confirmed that this work of general interest of the state is within its competence*, has called on Medina to “abandon fake politics, the only certainty is that there are 100 million for a desalination plant in the Axarquía that will be built by Pedro Sánchez’s government and zero euros from Moreno Bonilla,” she said. To further her denial of the facts, she concluded, “The competence in water matters in our area is the sole and exclusive competence of the Junta de Andalucía and, in the face of this, the government of Moreno Bonilla, however much the PP of Malaga insists, is neglecting its functions.”**

* Clarification: Spain’s central government HAS announced that it will undertake the construction of a desalination plant in the Axarquía, the area suffering most from the persistent drought affecting the whole of Spain. The announcement came on Thursday 11 May, 2023, as part of a 780-million-euro aid package to help alleviate the effects of the ongoing drought across the country. It was made by the ministers of the departments of agriculture and ecological transition, Luis Planas and Teresa Ribera. Source: https://www.surinenglish.com/malaga/axarquia/government-take-construction-axarquia-desalination-plant-20230512131808-nt.html. -Ed.}
**Andalusian minister for agriculture, Carmen Crespo, calls this a “fabricated controversy. Speaking to Canal Sur Radio on Wednesday 24 January, Crespo said that the controversy had been “absolutely fabricated” and her comments were reported by Europa Press. She wanted to make it clear that the Junta has been “helping and collaborating with” the central government from the very first moment, providing the documentation and ceding the land and that the working group was set up between the two administrations. However, “they have to be done by the State,” insisted Carmen Crespo. MALAGA CITY

Another attack on a bar owner- Bar owner seriously injured after being kicked in the head during brawl in Churriana:
– A man has been arrested for allegedly kicking another man in the head during a brawl in the Churriana district of Malaga city. The incident happened at around one o’clock in the morning on Tuesday.
– Apparently, a group of people were assaulting the owner of a bar located in Calle Molino Linares. Several units of the Malaga Local Police force went to the scene to respond to the call. On arrival, they saw a bloodied man with a large wound to his head, which was still bleeding profusely. The injured man was treated at the scene, but was later transferred to the Churriana health centre due to his injuries, which required 12 stitches.
– After viewing a video provided by eyewitnesses, and with statements gathered at the scene, the officers arrested a 25-year-old man from Cordoba, as the alleged perpetrator of the kick that caused the most serious injuries to the bar owner. According to police sources, the incident was sparked by an argument between the victim and the father of the arrested man, who left the area when police units arrived on the scene. TORROX

Torrox City Council reproaches the Government for “the harm” caused to bathers and businessmen by the “late contributions of sand” to the beaches: {Translation, summary}
– The Torrox Town Hall has publicly reproached the central government for the “continuous damage” caused to bathers and businessmen by the “late” delivery of sand to the beaches of the municipality “so close to summer”. This was stated by the councillor for the area, Vanessa López, assuring that, in addition to these complaints “which we receive on a daily basis, much of the material deposited on Ferrara beach has already been lost”.
– The councillor explained that “bathers, beach users and business owners are very annoyed by the damage being caused by these ineffective sand contributions”. Vanessa López said that, “yet another year shows that the government is only patching things up instead of looking for definitive solutions to stabilise beaches such as Ferrara in Torrox Costa”.
– At this point on the coast, said López, “the west swell of the last few days has already carried away most of the sand poured in for the supposed improvement of the beach”. In addition, all the machinery that has been carrying out this work “is a serious nuisance and a major inconvenience for bathers, residents of the area and for business owners, who are unable to offer their services and facilities in time for the start of the summer”.
– The councillor pointed out that “the business owners of the promenade and the beaches of Ferrara, El Peñoncillo and El Morche cannot be enduring daily losses in their summer income forecasts due to this deficient planning and action by the central government which affects two of the main sectors of the local economy, such as tourism and services”. GRANADA

The coast of Granada begins the summer without restrictions on beach showers or filling of swimming pools: {Translation, summary}
– The Costa Tropical starts the summer season without water restrictions in the showers of its beaches or in the filling of private pools, with destinations such as Motril, Salobreña or Almuñécar, lifting most of the summer season the restrictions.
– In Almuñécar and La Herradura restrictions are lifted from San Juan, when the water of the showers of the beaches is opened, which would have been resumed, according to what is stipulated in the restrictions in force, next September 1st, unless it was a summer season of abundant rain, detailed the sources consulted in the consistory of Sexitano.

SEVILLA

Inappropriately dressed woman complains of being denied entry to Cathedral of Sevilla: {Translation}
– Influencer Gigi (@gigi_abeleira) has shared a video on her TikTok account in which she criticised the fact that she was refused entry to Seville Cathedral because of her outfit. Gigi explained that she was in the Andalusian capital with her father sightseeing when security staff prevented her from entering because she was wearing a top tied around her neck {pic}.
– Gigi stressed that in 39 degrees in Seville, she chose to wear it without knowing that it would prevent her from entering the place of worship, where her father was allowed to enter. “They told me I couldn’t enter the church like that, they told me I had to cover up,” said the content creator, who had to wait at the entrance while her father finished his visit.
– The influencer expressed her frustration claiming she had seen another girl leave the church in a similar outfit, stating that “you could see half of her ass and she was wearing the same top but in white, and no tattoos”.
– The video has gained 76,000 views and 3,500 likes. In the comments, several users clarified that she was not banned because of the tattoos, but because “in principle, in all Catholic churches in Europe you have to enter with clothes that cover your shoulders and knees and shoes that cover your whole foot”. Others took the opportunity to make humorous comments: “The saints were not going to put up with that much skin”. CATALONIA

Junts steps on the accelerator- demands that Sánchez recognize the Kosovo route to create a “sovereign” Catalonia: {Translation, summary}
– While Pedro Sánchez assures that his amnesty creates coexistence in Spain and calms the pro-independence supporters, Junts and ERC continue to take steps in the direction of a break with Spain.
– If a few days ago two Catalan MPs voted despite the suspension of this possibility by the Constitutional Court and did so to create a purely separatist table in the regional legislature, now Junts is demanding that the government recognise the route that the pro-independence supporters have always demanded as a mechanism for breaking with Spain: the Kosovo route.
– Recognition of Kosovo. Junts has already registered its initiative in Congress to demand that the government recognise the Republic of Kosovo as a sovereign state. This would mean recognising its independence from Serbia at the international level, but it is clear that this is not the central issue in the Kosovo affair. The main issue is that the same Kosovo mechanism is intended to be used by Catalan separatists to break up Spain. “It is not acceptable that the Spanish state shares the same strategy as Russia, China or Belarus of refusing to recognise Kosovo”, says the document drafted by Junts, which demands that it be debated in the plenary of Congress so that its own party, ERC, Bildu, BNG, Sumar, etc., can vote.
– Junts claims that only five EU countries still do not recognise the independence of Kosovo declared in 2008; Spain, Cyprus, Greece, Romania and Slovakia and recalls the commitment of the Spanish government adopted in 2021 and with Sánchez at the head to “make a significant effort to solve the issue of the territory of Kosovo in the framework of dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina with an agreement respectful of international law”. Just the way Junts intends to use to split Spain.
– Junts stresses in its document that Spain has indirect relations with Kosovo and that since January 2024 it has been obliged to recognise Kosovo passports after Kosovo joined the Schengen area’s short-stay visa waiver regime. Now the Junts demand more. This is how they plan to break with Spain. Moreover, Junts claims that the European Union has signed a Stabilisation and Association Agreement with this Republic that entails “relations of all kinds”. And it demands that Spain should advance along the same path with Catalonia. Just Stop Oil protesters cover Stonehenge in orange paint ahead of summer solstice:
– Two Just Stop Oil activists began spraying rocks at the ancient site at around midday, just one day before thousands are expected to descend on the site to celebrate the longest day of the year.
– English Heritage said experts were assessing the “extent of the damage” on the stones, which they describe as perhaps the world’s most famous prehistoric monument. A spokeswoman said: “Orange powdered paint has been thrown at a number of the stones at Stonehenge.” (Update: the perps now say it was harmless orange colored corn starch.)
– The attack on Wednesday has been met with condemnation by the prime minister who said the group should be “ashamed” by the “disgraceful act of vandalism”.
– The group took action as they demand the next government sign up to a legally binding treaty to phase out fossil fuels by 2030. Video footage of the protest shows two people in Just Stop Oil t-shirt, named by the group as Rajan Naidu, 73, and Niamh Lynch, 21, running up to the ancient structure with canisters of orange powder paint. As they began spraying the rocks, calls to for them to stop could be heard from onlookers as other visitors chased after them attempting to take their canisters away. IRELAND

Ryanair CEO- “It’s A Complete Scam, These People Are Not Refugees”:
– Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary asserted that the asylum system was “a complete scam” and that such individuals “are not refugees” because they are arriving from safe countries and then flushing their passports down the toilet.
– O’Leary made the comments during an appearance on the Newstalk radio station. The airline boss was asked how people are able to arrive in Ireland on Ryanair flights without proper documentation or being able to prove their identities. “Yeah because they flush them down the toilet, they arrive at Dublin airport and they flush them down the toilet,” he responded.
– O’Leary said non-EU visitors to Ireland had to have their passports photographed at the border control desk so the details could be sent to the government, but that this was impossible with economic migrants. “They show up here…it’s a complete scam and these are not refugees, one of the things that drives me nuts in Ireland is we treat people as refugees who are coming from the UK or from France,” he complained.
– “Nobody got to Ireland from Afghanistan or from Kenya or from Nigeria or from Syria on a direct flight because there aren’t any, so you’re not fleeing persecution in the UK or in Germany, O’Leary added. “We should look after refugees, I have great sympathy for the Ukrainians, but people who are arriving here from the UK, France or other EU countries, we should be turning them back saying, here back to the EU countries where you came from.” Full article: https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/ryanair-ceo-its-complete-scam-these-people-are-not-refugees & Tweet Link

SPACE

‘Once-in-a-lifetime’ interstellar explosion will be visible from Earth this summer:
– Keep your eyes on the skies, stargazers! NASA has predicted that the much-anticipated “once-in-a-life-time” star explosion – or nova – will be visible to the naked eye sometime this summer, per a recent press release.
– This event is particularly significant given its relative proximity to Earth. “There are a few recurrent novae with very short cycles, but typically, we don’t often see a repeated outburst in a human lifetime, and rarely one so relatively close to our own system,” said Hounsell (NASA).
– Unfortunately, the exact date for the interstellar fireworks display is yet unknown, however, this would-be death star will reportedly be visible sometime this month. NASA estimates that the “brief” phenomenon will be visible to the naked eye for around a week.
– First, they should initially look toward the Northern Crown, a parabola-shaped constellation situated west of the Hercules constellation. They can then trace a straight line from the two brightest stars in the Northern Hemisphere – Arcturus and Vega – which will lead them to the Hercules constellation and the Corona Borealis, where the Blaze of glory will be most visible. It will look like a new star has appeared in the sky.
– Unfortunately, “recurrent novae are unpredictable,” according to NASA astrophysicist Koji Mukai, adding that just when scientists think they’ve nailed down its pattern, it can “deviate from it completely.” “We’ll see how it behaves,” he added.
