Your questions answered by Ruth from Compare Funerals Spain
– Why should I have a funeral plan? Having been funeral planning for over 10 year I’ve experienced some very sad and upset families when nothing is in place. A Spanish funeral plans will ensure that all costs are covered for your funeral service. Getting a prepaid plan will help you feel assured that your family will not be under any financial strain when it comes to paying for your funeral. A plan also means you can have peace of mind that everything has been organised in advance, so your loved ones do not have to make any difficult decisions.
– Why choose Compare Funerals? There seems to be a gap in Spain between independent funeral directors, offering plans at a good price but lacking the security of an established Trust or ability to cover a client overseas and Providers who seem to charge more than necessary. We want to be right in the middle and offer the best of both worlds. Our best-priced plan is only 2,250€ and does the essentials.
– Can I do a payment plan? All our plans are payable in full or over up to 5 years interest FREE. The interest free periods are based on initial deposit. The higher the deposit the less your monthly repayments will be.
– Can I transfer the plan? The answer is YES. You could name 2 people on one plan however if you had a friend/family member pass away we can transfer the plan into a 3rd party’s name.
– What happens if I move? All our plans offer the equivalent service in Spain (including the islands), Portugal, Republic of Ireland and the UK. If you moved to the UK, we would transfer the plan to one of our many partners at no extra cost to you.
– Is paperwork included? Yes, your family will receive a death certificate in Spanish and an international certification in English. We also provide a cremation certificate that allows the ashes on board a plane.

ANDALUCÍA

Consumer Affairs wants to investigate unlicensed holiday flats together with local councils, issue violators fines up to €100,000: {Translation, summary}
– The Ministry of Social Rights, Consumption and Agenda 2030 has proposed to local councils that they join the investigations launched by the department headed by Pablo Bustinduy to detect tourist homes operating on rental platforms without a licence, a fraudulent and unfair practice that can lead to a sanction. In a statement, the ministry recalls that in early June it launched an investigation against such fraud to detect tourist flats that do not have a licence to operate as accommodation, a proposal that has now been sent to the Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) so that the cities can take up the baton.
– This action comes after Consumer Affairs sent requests to tourist rental websites to obtain information on which properties are committing this infringement, “investigations that could now be intensified with the information that the municipalities can provide”, he clarifies. “The Consumer Affairs Department places its powers at the disposal of the town councils to work together to identify dwellings that are not authorised to operate as tourist accommodation”, it points out in the note.
– The Directorate General for Consumer Affairs recalls that it has the power to impose penalties since 2022 and that it will study the possibility of opening disciplinary proceedings for these practices which, according to the legal precept, can be classified as serious infringements with fines of up to 100,000 euros, an amount that could be exceeded to reach between four and six times the illicit benefit obtained.

COSTA DEL SOL

Man arrested in connection with 25 luxury property burglaries:
– A man has been arrested and a woman investigated for their alleged role in 25 burglaries of luxury homes in Mijas and Marbella. Guardia Civil officers launched their investigation following a spate of thefts from luxury homes on the Costa del Sol, where they found 19 were committed in the town of Mijas and six in the municipality of Marbella.
– According to the police force, the suspects allegedly cased out the houses and targeted those which were used by their owners as second homes. They then allegedly burgled the properties when the property owners were away and stole jewellery and money.
– The alleged suspect was located and a search was carried out in a house in Mijas where various items of jewellery from different burglaries and 14,695 euros in cash were discovered. Tools, clothes and a motorbike used by the alleged perpetrator to commit the robberies were also seized by police officers. MALAGA PROVINCE

‘Dana’ brings thunderstorms and welcome rain to Malaga and the Costa del Sol:
– The widely forecast storm was already showing signs of its potential when it could be seen off the coast of Costa del Sol at around 11pm last night (Wed). Barely two hours later it was over Malaga, where the ‘Dana’ (high level depression) weather system left a night of heavy rain {pic}.
– The lightning, thunder and downpour were at their most intense in the city between 2.00 and 3.00am this morning, and continued until at least until 6.00am in various parts of Malaga, although for the moment there have been no reports of any incidents in the province.
– In terms of accumulated rainfall, the point that received the highest amount was Antequera with a not inconsiderable 18mm, El Torcal followed with 12mm, which also gave a much-need relief for crops and livestock in the Vega de Antequera, according to the automated data from the Junta de Andalucía’s Hidrosur network. MALAGA CITY

Adelante Andalucía calls for the end of tourist apartments in Malaga: {Translation}
– With the slogan ‘Andalusia is not for sale, Andalusia defends itself’, Luis Rodrigo, spokesman for Adelante Andalucía in Málaga, has presented a campaign in which, among other issues, he defends “the extinction of tourist flats”. Precisely a holiday rental property has been the place chosen to unveil this initiative with which he says “we want to put on the table a series of problems that we associate with the current tourism model and the proposals that we from Adelante Andalucía bring to reverse it, both in the short term and to a change of coexistence tourism without the current aggressive features”.
– Among the measures included in this roadmap is the need to stand up to the dynamics generated by tourist housing. “We have to take a stand. One of our proposals is the limitation of tourist housing, which in Malaga means the extinction of all tourist licenses”, he warns to expose that “a house is not a market good with which to make profit but a human right, so we support the extinction of tourist housing and we are against speculation associated with tourism while there are people who can not pay rent or buy a house”.
– In addition, he vindicates the proposal of the tourist tax that Adelante Andalucía presented in the Andalusian Parliament and that the government of Moreno Bonilla paralysed. “Asking for a tourist tax is the minimum, there is much more that can be done. With 33 million tourists a year, a tourist tax is something indispensable, something that is already being done in all European cities”. Rodrigo also shows his support for “the Malaga Tenants’ Union and the social movements and associations that are organising the call on Saturday 29J for housing”. Jihadist tiktoker arrested in Malaga anti-terrorism raid promoted suicide attacks and the Moscow massacre: {Translation, summary}
– He spread the most radical doctrine of the Islamic State to gain followers of the holy war from Malaga. Last Monday he was arrested in the San Andrés neighbourhood for his involvement in terrorist offences. The Guardia Civil accuses him of intense activity through social networks, creating and disseminating jihadist content and Islamic State (Daesh) propaganda encouraging massacres such as the one in Moscow. These were taken from Daesh’s official propaganda, reaching several thousand followers through the internet with his slogans.
– The type of terrorist content he disseminated was varied. On the one hand, it spread files of well-known ideological and dogmatic figures virally on the web, such as Abu Ali al-Anbari, who played an important role in the organisation’s military structure, having served as emir of the Department of Soldiers and appointed deputy to leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. He also promoted content inciting violence, such as Daesh suicide bombings in conflict zones and the terrorist attacks on Moscow’s Crocus City Hall, which left more than 140 people dead and hundreds injured. TORRE DEL MAR

The free Wi-Fi service is expanded on the beaches of Torre del Mar and Benajarafe: {Translation, summary}
– Regarding the wifi zones, councillor Atencia indicated that “we have improved the service by extending it to the Benajarafe beach, in the old station; and maintaining the areas of Torre del Mar that we already had, such as the beach library, the central lifeguard post, the area in front of the sports courts and the new Senior beach. We would like to remind you that the wifi is only for the beach area and not the promenade”. {Yeah, good luck with that. -Ed.}
– The mayor assured that “our main objective has been to provide a ‘fluid’ and accessible connection to citizens, for this we will simply connect to wifi network ‘Playa Wifi Torre del Mar’. A welcome portal will ask us to accept the conditions of use (which initially have been limited to a connection margin of 2 hours per day per user)”.
– The hours of operation will be from 09:00 to 21:00 hours in the months of July, August and September, and from 09:00 to 14:00 hours the rest of the year. Source, Spanish: https://www.axarquiaplus.es/se-amplia-el-servicio-de-wifi-gratuito-en-las-playas-de-torre-del-mar-y-benajarafe/

RINCÓN DE LA VICTORIA

Rincón de la Victoria town hall is working with Malaga’s veterinary association for the implementation of a trap, neuter and release programme:
– The mayor of Rincón de la Victoria, Francisco Salado, and the president of Malaga’s official veterinary association, Juan Antonio de Luque, have signed a collaboration agreement for the implementation of the integrated management of a trap, neuter and release (TNR) programme in the town.
– The councillor for health and consumer affairs, Lola Ramos, explained that the veterinary clinics in the town that wish to do so will be able to join this agreement. The councillor pointed out that through the agreement “we are providing an adequate response to urban colonies, improving the conditions and welfare of the cats and their environment, which will have a positive impact on public health and the image of the municipality”.
– The town hall will cover the costs of the rabies vaccination, microchipping, and deworming, as well as basic health care treatments with a budget of 10,000 euros. The agreement is in place for one year, but can be extended for up to four years. The microchip identification of animals captured for health control will be subject to registration in the animal identification register managed by the Andalusian council of official veterinary associations. SEVILLA

The Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office will not investigate the alleged gang-rape in Peñaflor (Seville) as everyone, including the victim, is under 14 years old (Still think it’s ok for kids to have smartphones?): {Translation, summary}
– The Minors’ Prosecutor’s Office will not investigate the alleged gang rape of a 6th grade pupil by at least eight classmates at a school in Peñaflor (Seville), which allegedly took place on 17 May, as all the minors allegedly involved in the case are under 14 years of age and the matter was brought before the Prosecutor’s Office on 13 June.
– The Minors’ Prosecutor’s Office “cannot carry out any type of investigation” as they are under 14 years of age and what has been done is “to inform the Minors’ Protection Service, as stated in article 3 of the Minors’ Law, relating to the regime for minors under 14 years of age”, as detailed in a statement.
– In this way, the Public Prosecutor’s Office must send to the public entity for the protection of minors “testimony of the particulars it considers necessary regarding the minor, in order to assess his situation, and this entity will have to promote the protection measures appropriate to the circumstances of the minor.
– The report states that the incident took place at around 12.00 on 17 May, “before the pupils went out into the playground, at which point she was taken out of sight of the students and teachers and taken to the girls’ bathroom”, where the rape allegedly took place.
– In a statement, the council stressed that “the protection and welfare of minors prevails over any other interest”. The municipal social services have activated all the protocols established for situations of this nature and have made all the resources and support available to the affected family. TECH

Spyware Apps- Software as a Service (SaaS) poses risks as AI accesses your data thru the apps you use:
– Software as a service (SaaS) is a software distribution model in which a cloud provider hosts applications and makes them available to end users over the internet. These are apps that access the provider’s services that are hosted on the cloud, examples include: Microsoft 365 (formerly Office 365), Zoom, Dropbox and Google Workspace.
– While some SaaS threats are clear and visible, others are hidden in plain sight, both posing significant risks. Research indicates that an astounding 99.7% of organizations utilize applications embedded with AI functionalities (that can scan, collect & share your data).
– Recent findings reveal a surprising statistic: 70% of the top 10 most commonly used AI-integrated apps may use your data for training their models. This practice can go beyond mere data learning and storage. It can involve retraining on your data, having human reviewers analyze it, and even sharing it with third parties.
– Often, these threats are buried deep in the fine print of Terms & Conditions agreements and privacy policies, which outline data access and complex opt-out processes. This stealthy approach introduces new risks, leaving security teams struggling to maintain control. This article delves into these risks, provides real-world examples, and offers best practices for safeguarding your organization through effective SaaS security measures. El Puente Christian Fellowship (Vélez-Málaga): We are a friendly, multi-national, Bible believing community of Christ. We meet each Sunday at 11am to worship the Lord. We enjoy a time of worship with contemporary songs and traditional hymns, and a message brought to us by our Pastor, one of our members or a visiting speaker.
The church meeting hall is situated at: Res: El Olivar 5, 8 Bajo 1, Calle Arbequin, Velez Malaga 29700.
Full directions and further information can be found on our Facebook page, or you can contact us by email on elpuentechristianfellowship@gmail.com or by phone on 665 62 63 42.
For those who cannot join us in person, we aim to stream Sunday services via the Facebook page (subject to a good internet connection).
