Your questions answered by Ruth from Compare Funerals Spain
– Why should I have a funeral plan? Having been funeral planning for over 10 year I’ve experienced some very sad and upset families when nothing is in place. A Spanish funeral plans will ensure that all costs are covered for your funeral service. Getting a prepaid plan will help you feel assured that your family will not be under any financial strain when it comes to paying for your funeral. A plan also means you can have peace of mind that everything has been organised in advance, so your loved ones do not have to make any difficult decisions.
– Why choose Compare Funerals? There seems to be a gap in Spain between independent funeral directors, offering plans at a good price but lacking the security of an established Trust or ability to cover a client overseas and Providers who seem to charge more than necessary. We want to be right in the middle and offer the best of both worlds. Our best-priced plan is only 2,250€ and does the essentials.
– Can I do a payment plan? All our plans are payable in full or over up to 5 years interest FREE. The interest free periods are based on initial deposit. The higher the deposit the less your monthly repayments will be.
– Can I transfer the plan? The answer is YES. You could name 2 people on one plan however if you had a friend/family member pass away we can transfer the plan into a 3rd party’s name.
– What happens if I move? All our plans offer the equivalent service in Spain (including the islands), Portugal, Republic of Ireland and the UK. If you moved to the UK, we would transfer the plan to one of our many partners at no extra cost to you.
– Is paperwork included? Yes, your family will receive a death certificate in Spanish and an international certification in English. We also provide a cremation certificate that allows the ashes on board a plane.
We are DigameXtra sponsors, so our contact info can be found everyday in the Sponsor’s Section.

ANDALUCÍA
The terral, now in Malaga with a yellow alert until Friday, when the worst is expected: {Translation}
– Malaga has overcome the first of the three days of terral forecast for Malaga, and after a very hot early morning (Thursday), the worst is yet to come. The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) is keeping most of the province under a high temperature warning until Friday, a day which is expected to be particularly sweltering, especially in coastal areas.
– Yesterday the alert was already in force in the Antequera region, and for this Thursday it is also active in the Serranía de Ronda, Costa del Sol and Valle del Guadalhorce, for temperatures that could reach 40 degrees. In the case of Ronda, the warning refers to the southwestern part of the region, with maximum temperatures of 38 degrees.
– The area where the terral will hit hardest will be precisely the interior of the Guadalhorce Valley. The hours of greatest risk, when the alert will be active, are from 13:00 to 21:00 hours; and in general, the thermometers will be above 37 degrees throughout the region. Thus, municipalities such as Ardales, Cártama, Tolox and Casarabonela will be close to 40 degrees, and in the case of Álora the mercury could even exceed this value. A similar scenario is presented for other areas such as Campillos, Almogía, Manilva, Casares and La Viñuela.
– As for minimum temperatures, if Wednesday night we had to sleep with 25-26 degrees on the coast and close to 30 inland, this coming early morning will be no less. In some parts of the coast there could be what experts call equatorial night, which is even more extreme than tropical night, and which occurs when the minimum night-time temperatures do not fall below 26 degrees. In Malaga city, for example, the thermometers are not expected to drop below 27 degrees.
– The last day of this episode is supposed to be Friday, and according to the weather forecast, the terral will concentrate its strength on the coast. The yellow alert is deactivated in Antequera, but will continue for the second day on the western Costa del Sol and the Guadalhorce Valley, and will also be activated in Axarquia, where it could reach 39 degrees Celsius. The warning, as in previous days, will remain in place from 13:00 to 21:00 hours.
– This is the second episode of the terral of July in Malaga, although the previous one lasted only one day (last Saturday, July 6) and was concentrated in the Guadalhorce area, the capital and municipalities such as Rincón de la Victoria, which set the maximum of the day in Andalusia with 37.5 degrees, one of the records also at national level.
– The director of the Malaga Meteorological Centre, Jesús Riesco, warned at the beginning of the week that this would be “the most intense terral we have had so far”, and explained that it would last until the Levante expelled it, which is expected to happen on Saturday. In fact, the weekend will bring a significant drop in temperatures, especially on the coast, with a drop in the mercury of up to 10 degrees in the case of the capital, leaving the maximum at 28 degrees. Seventy horses and a dozen carriages in the traditional Rincón Fair ride: {Translation, summary}

– The parade of horses and carriages will take place between 13:30 and 14:30 hours starting from the Plaza Al Andalus with a special route that will be extended to the area of Huerta Julian by Avenida de la Candelaria and Camino Viejo de Velez.
– The prize-giving ceremony is scheduled for 17:00 hours.
– Rincón de la Victoria will celebrate its fair in honour of the Virgen del Carmen from 12 to 16 July with a wide and varied programme of free shows for all types of public. ÁRCHEZ
The Árchez Fair 2024 starts with children’s and sports activities and three days of music for all audiences: {Translation, summary}
– On Friday at half past nine in the morning, the fireworks and reveille will be fired to announce the start of the fiestas with the Sedella Band. From this moment on, the activities will take place in the mornings, afternoons and evenings. At 19:00 there will be football in the Alameda sports centre and at 22:30, the Orquesta Rebelión will open the official stand. At 00:00 hours the Queen and Mister will be chosen together with their Maids of Honour and Miss Visitor “which in our town is done by touch”. An hour later, Miguel Sáez and Mario Méndez will perform, “whom we thank for having made room in the agenda as they were going to perform during the Cultural Week and we had to postpone it due to the rain”. Afterwards, the Orquesta Rebelión will continue, as they do every night, with several shows.
– Saturday 13 July “is a day when many people are expected, especially the big foam party enlivened by Leo Música en vivo which will take place at four o’clock in the afternoon for children and adults”, and at 01:00 Nyno Vargas will perform.
– “Sunday is the big day, and many people from other towns come to the ribbon races as it is a tradition that we maintain and that cannot be lost,” said the mayoress. After the firing of rockets and reveille (10 am) with the Sedella Music Band, the Rociera Mass will begin in honour of the patron saint Nuestra Señora del Rosario accompanied by the Choir of Árchez (12:30 pm). At 20.00 there will be a ribbon race on horseback and motorbike. At 11.30 there will be a fireworks display on the bridge and music with Grupo Trenzo and Miguel Botana. The final fireworks are expected at five o’clock in the morning. New cyberattack targets iPhone Apple IDs. Here’s how to protect your data:
– A new cyberattack is targeting iPhone users, with criminals attempting to obtain individuals’ Apple IDs in a “phishing” campaign, security software company Symantec said in an alert Monday. Cyber criminals are sending text messages to iPhone users in the U.S. that appear to be from Apple, but are in fact an attempt at stealing victims’ personal credentials.
– “Phishing actors continue to target Apple IDs due to their widespread use, which offers access to a vast pool of potential victims,” Symantec said. “These credentials are highly valued, providing control over devices, access to personal and financial information, and potential revenue through unauthorized purchases.” Consumers are also more likely to trust communications that appear to come from a trusted brand like Apple, warned Symantec, which is owned by Broadcom, a maker of semiconductors and infrastructure software.
– The malicious SMS messages appear to come from Apple and encourage recipients to click a link and sign in to their iCloud accounts. For example, a phishing text could say: “Apple important request iCloud: Visit signin[.]authen-connexion[.]info/icloud to continue using your services.” Recipients are also asked to complete a CAPTCHA challenge in order to appear legitimate, before they’re directed to a fake iCloud login page.
– Be cautious about opening any text messages that appear to be sent from Apple. Always check the source of the message — if it’s from a random phone number, the iPhone maker is almost certainly not the sender. iPhone users should also avoid clicking on links inviting people to access their iCloud account; instead, go to login pages directly. “If you’re suspicious about an unexpected message, call, or request for personal information, such as your email address, phone number, password, security code, or money, it’s safer to presume that it’s a scam — contact that company directly if you need to,” Apple said in a post on avoiding scams.
– Apple adds that its own support representatives will never send its users a link to a website and ask them to sign in, or to provide your password, device passcode, or two-factor authentication code. “If someone claiming to be from Apple asks you for any of the above, they are a scammer engaging in a social engineering attack. Hang up the call or otherwise terminate contact with them,” the company said. Full article: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/cyberattack-iphone-apple-ids-how-to-protect-your-data/
TRAVEL
Five AVE canceled in less than 24 hours in Andalusia, due to lack of trains: {Translation, summary}
– In less than 24 hours, Renfe has canceled five services in Andalusia due to the lack of trains: three that connected Malaga and Granada, one María Zambrano heading to Seville and a fifth that linked Seville and Granada passing through Antequera.
– They occurred between midday on Tuesday and early Wednesday morning. Some of the passengers affected were able to arrive at their destination, albeit late, being relocated to other Avant, AVE, AVLO, taxis or buses.
– “We have written more than once to the president of Renfe”, added the mayor, Francisco de la Torre, “about the need to comply with timetables and the number of services”. Since the beginning of May, Andalusia has had problems in the suburban and high-speed network, so “we will insist again”, because “Renfe must be up to the needs of the community”. The line between Malaga and Granada is the one with the most incidents in Andalusia, due to the shortage of material and workers.
