Your questions answered by Ruth from Compare Funerals Spain
– Why should I have a funeral plan? Having been funeral planning for over 10 year I’ve experienced some very sad and upset families when nothing is in place. A Spanish funeral plans will ensure that all costs are covered for your funeral service. Getting a prepaid plan will help you feel assured that your family will not be under any financial strain when it comes to paying for your funeral. A plan also means you can have peace of mind that everything has been organised in advance, so your loved ones do not have to make any difficult decisions.
– Why choose Compare Funerals? There seems to be a gap in Spain between independent funeral directors, offering plans at a good price but lacking the security of an established Trust or ability to cover a client overseas and Providers who seem to charge more than necessary. We want to be right in the middle and offer the best of both worlds. Our best-priced plan is only 2,250€ and does the essentials.
– Can I do a payment plan? All our plans are payable in full or over up to 5 years interest FREE. The interest free periods are based on initial deposit. The higher the deposit the less your monthly repayments will be.
– Can I transfer the plan? The answer is YES. You could name 2 people on one plan however if you had a friend/family member pass away we can transfer the plan into a 3rd party’s name.
– What happens if I move? All our plans offer the equivalent service in Spain (including the islands), Portugal, Republic of Ireland and the UK. If you moved to the UK, we would transfer the plan to one of our many partners at no extra cost to you.
– Is paperwork included? Yes, your family will receive a death certificate in Spanish and an international certification in English. We also provide a cremation certificate that allows the ashes on board a plane.

SPAIN

Food prices rise by 4.2% latest inflation data in Spain shows:
– The price of the shopping basket rose by 4.2% in Spain last month, according to latest inflation data. This is the lowest pace (of increase) in two and a half years, since December 2021, but the pace of the downward path – the figure is already far from the steep double-digit rises seen in 2023 – is proving very slow, according to the national institute of statistics (INE) figures.
– Some basic food products continue to show skyrocketing prices, even amid the reduction of IVA (Spain’s sales tax) that the government has decided to extend after a year and a half in force. In the past year, oils and fats showed the highest increase (39.7%), followed by fresh fruit (14.4%) and lamb (9.9%). Sugar, fresh fish and coffee also rose by more than 4%. On the other hand, decreases – albeit very moderate – are beginning to be noted in staples such as milk, which has fallen by 2.9% since June 2023, and vegetables, which have fallen by 1.9%. MALAGA PROVINCE

The heat continues to give no respite- Aemet maintains the yellow warning for high temperatures in Malaga: {Translation}
– At the moment, according to the official Aemet register, at 6:40 this morning 32.3 degrees were recorded at the Malaga Airport station. At this time, 08:55 on Tuesday 16/7, the five highest temperatures in Andalusia were recorded in the province: after the 32.3 at Malaga Airport, 31.9 in Velez-Malaga, 31.6 in Malaga Puerto and 31.3 in Malaga Puerto and at the Malaga Meteorological Centre. Undoubtedly, the region is immersed in the heatwave, considered the hottest period of the year – from July 15th to August 15th.
– Juan de Dios del Pino, the Aemet’s delegate in Andalusia, told Europa Press on Monday that the maximum temperatures would “increase progressively and across the board during this week in the region”.
– A yellow warning will affect areas of Andalusia. This is the case of the countryside of Cordoba, the Cuenca del Genil (Granada), the towns of Cazorla and Segura in Jaen, the Morena and Segura regions of Jaen and the Guadalquivir Valley. For inland eastern Andalusia, the State Meteorological Agency forecasts significantly high temperatures for today.
– The situation in Malaga, reports Aemet, is thus similar to this general tone that point in the whole of Andalusia: “Cloudy or clear skies, without ruling out afternoon mist on the east coast, with temperatures rising slightly or unchanged. Light northeasterly winds, tending to light and variable in the late afternoon”. Highs of 36 degrees in Antequera and 34 degrees in Malaga, Ronda and Velez-Malaga are forecast, with 33 degrees in Marbella.
– The entry of the easterly wind in the case of Malaga, which is expected from Wednesday onwards, will cause the thermometers to drop considerably. They are expecting high temperatures typical of the summer but far from the 40 degrees that are forecast in other areas of the country.
– In specific locations along the coast of Malaga, the heat could give a respite that would leave up to 10 degrees less this Wednesday, with maximum temperatures of 26 degrees. In places such as Vélez-Málaga it will be around 29 degrees and 30 in Marbella. As for inland areas of the province, Aemet predicts that there will be little change, with up to 34 in Antequera and around 32 degrees in Ronda.
– Looking ahead to the weekend, for the moment, Aemet warns that temperatures will probably rise considerably again. They point to maximum temperatures of 38 degrees in Malaga city, 39 in Antequera, 37 in Velez-Malaga, 36 in Marbella and 38 in Ronda. Malaga property market slowed as sales drop by 28% in May after record breaking gains in April :
– Property sales in Malaga dropped by 28% in May compared to the same month last year, new data shows. It comes after April registered the best month for the number of sales and purchases of flats since 2007 with 3,325 transactions in Malaga, an increase of 36.3% compared to a year earlier. But just 2,584 transactions were recorded in May, the lowest figure for a month of May since 2021, when there were 2,452, according to the National Statistics Institute (INE).
– In the whole of 2023, the number of sales and purchases in Malaga fell by more than 17% compared to a year earlier. And in 2024, far from a recovery, transactions continue to fall. In the year to date, between January and May, 13,940 transactions have been registered in the province, a drop of 9.2% compared to the more than 15,300 in the same period last year.
– In Spain the just under 250,000 transactions registered so far are 4.15% less than the some 260,000 registered at this time last year. And in Andalucía the 49,068 transactions in the first five months of 2024 are 7.35% less than the almost 53,000 in the same period last year. EUROPE

All new cars sold in Europe now required to be equipped with speed limiters:
– A new European Union Mandate…comes into force from Sunday July 7th 2024, which means that all new vehicles sold will require a speed limiter.
– Although this law will not apply in Britian, it is very likely that most new cars will be affected by the introduction of the technology. This is because the manufacturers are unlikely to modify new vehicle designs for the market here in Britain. The limiters will be included in new vehicles sold in Northern Ireland.
– Known as Intelligent Speed Adaptation (ISA), it is a system that restricts the speed of a vehicle automatically. It uses a combination of GPS tracking data, satellite navigation, and information on speed limits of that roads that the vehicle is currently on. If the driver is travelling over the speed limit, the system can reduce engine power until the speed drops to the limit of the road. {Of course, all this data is being monitored, with your vehicle ID plus time/location stamps, and it will be saved and resold to data brokers. Just another way you are tracked and traced. -Ed.}
– Current regulation allows drivers to turn the speed limiter off, however, the ISA will be enabled when you switch the engine on again. This means that the ISA cannot be permanently disabled in new cars
– RAC road safety spokesperson Rod Dennis said: “While it’s not currently mandated that cars sold in the UK have to be fitted with Intelligent Speed Assistance (ISA) systems, we’d be surprised if manufacturers deliberately excluded the feature from those they sell in the UK as it would add unnecessary cost to production.
– “Anyone getting a new vehicle would be well advised to familiarise themselves with ISA and how it works. In practice, if a driver exceeds the speed limit, an audible warning is sounded and then the car’s speed is automatically reduced. But a driver can still press hard on the accelerator to override it momentarily, for instance to negotiate a hazard in the road ahead..

Globalist Roberta Metsola is re-elected president of the European Parliament:
– Roberta Metsola {pic} has been re-elected president of the European Parliament for the next two years and a half, marking the beginning of the 10th legislature in Strasbourg. In a vote held on Tuesday morning, the 45-year-old Christian Democrat from Malta secured 562 votes in favour out of the 623 ballots cast by the newly-elected lawmakers, a comfortable victory that easily surpasses the necessary majority.
– Irene Montero, the symbolic challenger presented by the Left, obtained only 61 votes.
– The result reflects Metsola’s rising profile as a pragmatic leader willing and capable of working with forces across the political spectrum and cements her credentials as one of the most prominent figures in the centre-right European People’s Party (EPP).
– In a speech today the president listed climate change, migration management, artificial intelligence, social rights, competitiveness, the simplification of bureaucracy, the fight against hate speech and the defence of fundamental values as areas on which lawmakers should focus to “leave Europe a better place than the one we found.” She placed special emphasis on the need to continue supporting Ukraine’s resistance, the two-state solution in the Middle East, the reunification of Cyprus, women’s rights in Afghanistan and the democratic movement in Belarus.
– “We must be ready to face this new world and this new reality,” she said.
{Sounds like globalist Klaus Schwab’s quote, “The world is changing at an unprecedented pace, and we must be willing to learn, unlearn, and relearn in order to thrive in this new reality.” Of course, this entails accepting their Agenda 2030/2050, with its 15 minute cities, rationed everything, eating bugs, carbon footprint tax, digital ID, social credit scores, elimination of cash and any degree of privacy, etc. Roberta Metsola is clearly a globalist WEF operative. See video below of her speaking at the World Economic Forum 2022 annual congress at Davos where she says, “…it’s about whether the EU wants to be the global democratic power.” -Ed.}  https://www.euronews.com/my-europe/2024/07/16/roberta-metsola-is-re-elected-president-of-the-european-parliament

Welsh First Minister Vaughan Gething steps down:
– Vaughan Gething said on Tuesday he would step down as first minister of Wales, after four ministers resigned from the devolved Welsh government in protest over his leadership. “Having been elected as leader of my party in March, I had hoped that over the summer a period of reflection, rebuilding and renewal could take place under my leadership,” Gething said in a statement. “I recognise now that this is not possible.”

Another Malpractice Payout- SAS is sentenced to compensate €100,000 for the woman who died and was forgotten in an Andalusian emergency room for 12 hours: {Translation}
– The Contentious Administrative Court number 2 of Jaén has sentenced the Andalusian Health Service (SAS) to compensate 100,000 euros to the five children of the woman who died and was forgotten for twelve hours in the emergency room of the San Juan de la Cruz Hospital in Úbeda (Jaén), in December 2017.
– The sentence, consulted by Europa Press through the Megías Almagro Law Firm, establishes that given “her condition and general deterioration”, the patient when she arrived at the Emergency Room should have “been classified with a higher priority, level 2 instead of 4.” She adds that “this error in classification and the lack of attention during her stay in the stretcher room were the determining factors, as we did not observe that she suffered an acute myocardial infarction.”
– For the magistrate, the “inadequate classification and management of her case by the hospital staff were the critical factors that led to a clear loss of opportunity to have saved the patient’s life if she had been cared for and treated appropriately.” “Had she received the appropriate treatment in a timely manner, the chances of survival would have increased significantly.”
– The woman arrived at the emergency room after 14.00 hours and stayed there waiting to be attended to once she had passed the triage consultation and was left waiting in the ward to be called back, but she did so alone and without any company. Everything suggests that she was called, but as she was in no condition to answer, the hospital assumed that she had left, when in fact the woman remained on a stretcher without anyone noticing that she was not receiving attention.
– It was not until twelve hours later and in the early hours of the morning, after the change of two shifts, that a professional asked for the identity of the person who was on the stretcher and who, when they went to attend to her, had already been found dead. From then on, the judicial authorities were informed. Source, Spanish: https://www.diariosur.es/andalucia/condenan-sas-indemnizar-100000-euros-mujer-muerta-20240716124405-nt.html

Investors Worry As Spain Won’t Pay Its Bills- The embarrassment of Sánchez’s non-payments to renewables jumps to the pages of Bloomberg & WSJ: {Translation}
– The scandal of the non-payment of the awards condemning Spain for the retroactive withdrawal of renewable energy premiums has once again hit the international press. After last week’s decision by the Belgian courts to authorise the seizure of 32 million euros from the Kingdom of Spain through the blocking of an account controlled by Enaire, the public company that owns AENA, media outlets such as Bloomberg have circulated various notes alerting the international investment community to the growing legal uncertainty caused by this type of situation.
– The company owned by Michael Bloomberg points out in a report that “Spain was ordered to pay the award in question in 2021. Since then, the refusal to comply with this obligation has led to the accumulation of interest on arrears, bringing the final amount to 32 million. That is the figure that Spain will have to pay to the affected company, Blasket Renewable Investments”, either through the seizure of Eurocontrol’s payments to Enaire that has been authorised by the Belgian courts, or by reaching an agreement for a direct payment.
– The article recalls that “the country offered a series of incentives to investors” that were retroactively withdrawn “in the midst of a budget crisis”. This prompted dozens of arbitrations, many of which have resulted in the defeat of the State Attorney’s Office. Bloomberg explains that “this has led to requests to seize or block various assets controlled by the Kingdom of Spain or its public companies”.
– The information points out that the government denies having been notified of this circumstance and that paying compensation could be considered “state aid” incompatible with European regulations. Meanwhile, “the 26 companies affected by the non-payments put their outstanding debts at 1.8 billion euros”.
– Bloomberg also recalls that investors hit by the retroactive withdrawal of renewable premiums “want to reach an agreement with the government and, in line with a proposal presented last May in Madrid, they want to work out a constructive solution that puts an end to litigation and articulates payment formulas that will settle debts, restore legal certainty and, ultimately, allow them to return to invest in Spain”.
– This is not the first time that the foreign press has covered this controversy, as previously there have been reports critical of Spain in media outlets such as the Financial Times, which accused Spain of “playing dirty with clean energy investors”.
– In the same vein, the Wall Street Journal has addressed the issue, stating that “the storm clouds are dissipating and the situation is becoming clearer, as most of the arbitration decisions condemn Spain and recognise the position of the affected companies as valid”.
