Your questions answered by Ruth from Compare Funerals Spain
– Why should I have a funeral plan? Having been funeral planning for over 10 year I’ve experienced some very sad and upset families when nothing is in place. A Spanish funeral plans will ensure that all costs are covered for your funeral service. Getting a prepaid plan will help you feel assured that your family will not be under any financial strain when it comes to paying for your funeral. A plan also means you can have peace of mind that everything has been organised in advance, so your loved ones do not have to make any difficult decisions.
– Why choose Compare Funerals? There seems to be a gap in Spain between independent funeral directors, offering plans at a good price but lacking the security of an established Trust or ability to cover a client overseas and Providers who seem to charge more than necessary. We want to be right in the middle and offer the best of both worlds. Our best-priced plan is only 2,250€ and does the essentials.
– Can I do a payment plan? All our plans are payable in full or over up to 5 years interest FREE. The interest free periods are based on initial deposit. The higher the deposit the less your monthly repayments will be.
– Can I transfer the plan? The answer is YES. You could name 2 people on one plan however if you had a friend/family member pass away we can transfer the plan into a 3rd party’s name.
– What happens if I move? All our plans offer the equivalent service in Spain (including the islands), Portugal, Republic of Ireland and the UK. If you moved to the UK, we would transfer the plan to one of our many partners at no extra cost to you.
– Is paperwork included? Yes, your family will receive a death certificate in Spanish and an international certification in English. We also provide a cremation certificate that allows the ashes on board a plane.

SPAIN
Sánchez sues judge investigating his wife Begoña, for the very same thing he himself had done just hours before, prevarication. (The far-left always accuses the opposition of the offences they themselves are committing!): {Translation, summary}
– The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, just hours after meeting the judge and refusing to testify (a prevarication, but within his rights), has filed a complaint for an alleged crime of prevarication against Judge Juan Carlos Peinado. Judge Peinado is leading the investigation against the president’s wife, Begoña Gómez, for alleged influence peddling and corruption in business. Source, Spanish: https://www.europapress.es/nacional/noticia-pedro-sanchez-querella-contra-juez-juan-carlos-peinado-prevaricacion-20240730134125.html {Prevarication: the fact of avoiding telling the truth or saying exactly what you think. ANDALUCÍA
The opposition sees the changes of Andalucia’s Junta ministers as recognition of poor management- I called it in yesterday’s issue: {Translation}
– The opposition parties to the Andalusian Government have evaluated and commented on the changes made by Juanma Moreno in his team as an acknowledgement that the management has major shortcomings, especially in the strategic areas of Health and Education.
– For the secretary general of the PSOE-A, Juan Espadas {pic}, the government crisis means that Juanma Moreno “recognises that Health and Education were a disaster”, a conclusion he reaches because of the fact that he is changing the people in charge of them.
– Espadas has made this reading in his account on the social network X, in which he regrets that there has been “no major signing” and that the president of the Junta has little left to contribute in what he considers to be a lost legislature. The Socialist leader also said that the President of the Junta has recognised that “Health could not remain in the hands of someone without a minimum of sensitivity and knowledge”, and that “the environment does not matter much to him”, in reference to the appointment by Juanma Moreno moving Catalina García to a new post leading Sustainability and the Environment after her poor performance managing Health.
– For Vox’s parliamentary spokesman, Manuel Gavira, the president of the Junta has done nothing more than “self-amend himself and his management”, as “he has changed almost everything he said was going well, and even so he has fallen short”. For Gavira, it is not a problem of names but of policies. “Changing one minister for another is the least of it, because if he does not change the policies he applies, Moreno’s government will continue to be a swindle that will not solve the problems of the Andalusians,” he said in a statement, in which he criticised the expense of adding another ministerial department.
He also referred to the dismissal of Catalina García as Minister of Health, and said that Moreno “recognises how the health care received by Andalusians has gotten out of hand, with million-dollar waiting lists, complaints from professionals and, above all, his incompetence in management”.
– For her part, the spokesperson for Por Andalucía, Inma Nieto, also assured in X that no change of faces or the distribution of portfolios among old acquaintances will fix the destruction of Moreno in Andalusia”. The MP pointed to the new spokesperson, Carolina España, and said that her appointment is the most important change. “Even they don’t believe in moderation any more,” she said.
– For the spokesman for Adelante Andalucía, José Ignacio García, the president of the Junta is at his worst moment, “in the greatest crisis of government and project” since he arrived at the Junta more than five years ago. García pointed out that the dismissals in Health and Education coincide with a wave of mobilisations that are highly critical of the Junta’s management of these portfolios. MALAGA PROVINCE
Storms give way to new wave of high temperatures in Malaga and along the Costa del Sol:
– It is not usual, and even less so in recent years, for it to rain in Malaga at the end of July. But it rained lightly on Sunday, and it did again Monday (29 July) at various times in the morning, in different parts of Malaga city, among other municipalities. They were brief showers, although with large, muddy drops due to the ‘calima’ haze (Sahara desert sand) present in the Malaga skies, which also remained very cloudy. The cause of this radical change in the weather was the arrival of a ‘Dana’ depression which was isolated off the coast of Portugal.
– From summer showers we transition to a possible episode of strong ‘terral’ hot wind, which could push temperatures from Wednesday – and especially on Thursday – above 40C in Malaga province, starting in the Guadalhorce valley and other inland areas. In fact, if the forecasts come true, this could be the hottest spell of the summer, although until then there are still a few days to go and the forecast can change.
– Spain’s state weather agency (Aemet) has activated a yellow alert (low risk) for tomorrow for the whole of Malaga province, with the exception of Axarquia, for maximum temperatures of 36C in general. According to the meteorologists, “this warning refers mainly to the inland parts of the province, where it could locally reach 40 degrees”.
– As for Thursday, the weather models are already giving 40-41C in Malaga city, and up to 45 degrees in the Guadalhorce valley (Coín, Álora, etc). Friday will be similar, although somewhat less intense, while on Saturday it will ease off, turn east and the mercury will drop by around 10 degrees, to a maximum of 30C.
– Weather on Thursday will depend on whether the terral comes in from the early hours of the morning (around 3.00 a.m.), which could be a record high. In the region, the experts expect hot nights on Wednesday in Jaén or Almería. Aemet foresees minimum temperatures of 26 degrees in these provinces followed closely by Malaga, where the mercury will not drop below 25 degrees.
– The all-time record high for the month of August has remained unbeaten since 9 August 1953, with 44C registered at Malaga Airport.

TORRE DEL MAR
Foreign couple seriously injured after car bursts into flames after refuelling at Torre del Mar petrol station:
– The incident happened shortly before 5pm Monday, when, for reasons unknown and that are being investigated, the car burst into flames soon after resuming its journey after having refuelled at the Repsol petrol station located at the eastern end of Torre del Mar, near the mouth of the river Seco, towards Caleta de Vélez.
– As SUR has been able to confirm, the car was apparently using liquefied petroleum gas. Both occupants were seriously injured in the incident, although the man’s burns were more serious. The 48-year-old woman was taken to the Hospital Comarcal de la Axarquía, while the man was rushed to the Hospital Regional de Málaga in a very serious condition.
– The firefighters managed to smother the flames in the car. In the first few moments of the incident, the car moved on its own for several metres, like a fireball, after the handbrake system failed, until it hit the curb of the old N-340, resulting in the road being closed for several hours.
