From Thursday, August 8 to Thursday, August 15, Coín celebrates its August Fair in honor of its patron saint.
The traditional parade will kick off the festivities on Thursday 8th, with the route starting from Montesol to the Alameda, where the town crier, Rafael García Maldonado, will be waiting to read his proclamation. On the following days Henry Méndez will provide the musical touch on Friday 9th, Raya Real on Saturday 10th, and Nyno Vargas on Sunday 11th, as well as local and Malaga DJs until the early hours of the morning such as DJ De La Calle, Dagoro, Gámez, Río, Tony Solís, Koke and Juaniyo Lara.

Periana organizes three night events with music: 15-17 Aug.
– The first one will be on Thursday 15th and is dedicated to young people.
– The next one, Noche con Encanto will be on Friday 16th with a performance by Miguel Botana. Both will take place in the Plaza de Andalucía from 23:00 hours. There will be bars provided by the stewards of the 2024 Fair.
– In Mondrón there will also be a traditional verbena on Saturday 17th for the benefit of the mayordomos of this village.

Sierra Nevada will open the cable car to Borreguiles to see the Perseids meteor showers on the nights of Friday August 9 and Saturday August 10:
– They are best seen in places where there is little light pollution. Just 25km from Granada, to the Pradollano station {map}, is such a place. And from there, by cable car, it takes about ten minutes to reach Borreguiles, at an altitude of 2,700 metres. An ideal place to see them.
– Package: All-inclusive With Workshops – Limited Places Available
– Astronomical Observation: taking advantage of the peak of the meteor shower, observation of the sky through a workshop guided by professionals with a picnic dinner and set to string music. The activity will begin in the Plaza de Andalucía from 21:00h with the opening of the cable car and will continue in the area of Borreguiles, lasting approximately 4 hours (from 21.30 to 01.45 (confirm this timetable when making your reservation).
– Welcome drink / non-alcoholic wine from 9pm to midnight.

– The workshops are aimed at all ages, a fun journey through the wonders of the cosmos, encouraging the participation of children, through games and explanations adapted to their age; the second block, common to all, attendees will move outdoors to carry out an observation with astronomical instruments.

Air Conditioned Restaurants: Readers are encouraged to recommend any restaurants in the area with proper air-con. Some places with small, over-worked 
air-con units, and/or waiters keeping the door open as they shuttle between the kitchen and their terrace, are still very warm inside, you may as well sit outside and pray for a breeze. What I’d like are recommendations for establishments where the air-con is actually effective, where you can enjoy a meal without sweating. And remember, places change over time. Tennis News- Billie Jean King Cup moved to overlap with the Davis Cup in Malaga this winter:
– The International Tennis Federation (ITF) has confirmed the schedules for the Billie Jean King Cup (BJKC) finals in Malaga have been adjusted, allowing for a seamless overlap with the Davis Cup Final 8 at the Martín Carpena arena.
– It has been confirmed that the BJKC finals will run from Wednesday 13 to Wednesday 20 November, while the Davis Cup will take place from Tuesday 19 to Sunday 24 November.
This overlap means both tournaments will share the venue on 19 and 20 November with coordinated schedules.
