Poetry, theater and music star in the cultural agenda of the Provincial Council in Axarquía- Vélez-Málaga, Estepona, Frigiliana, Comares, Torrox, Júzcar and Periana: {Translation summary}
– Poetry, theatre and music will feature on the cultural agenda of the Malaga Provincial Council from 22 to 25 August with activities in the municipalities of .
– Thursday. The programme kicks off on Thursday 22nd August with a new poetry event, organised by the Cultural Centre Generación del 27 of the Diputación de Málaga, in the municipality of Vélez-Málaga. The recital will be given by the poet Josefa Parra, accompanied by the poets Jesús Baena and Salvador Gómez. They will also be accompanied by the musical performance of Sergio Pérez ‘El Cindindi’ and Josemi Navarro on the piano. The event, which is free entry until full capacity is reached, will take place in the Plaza de San Francisco, from 21:00 hours.
– Friday. Estepona welcomes ‘Peneque y el Fantasma’, interactive theater by Miguel Pino productions, on the 23rd of August at 20:00 in the Plaza García Caparrós. Admission is free until full capacity is reached. Aimed at a family audience, ‘Peneque el Valiente’ will face a new adventure in which all those attending the show will take part.
– Saturday, 24 August. The artist Dani Danielo with his performance ‘Una Historia de Magia’, will visit Frigiliana on the 24th of August to celebrate the Festival of the Three Cultures of the municipality. He will be at the Children’s Park in Frigiliana, from 13.00 hours, with free admission.

The Panda de Verdiales 1ª de Comares will be performing in Comares on 24 August from 23.00 in the Plaza de los Verdiales. Admission is free until full capacity is reached.
– On Sunday 25 August the Panda de Verdiales San Isidro de Periana will perform in Periana, at 11.00 a.m., in the Plaza de los Pinos. The Fiesta de Verdiales is the most autochthonous and traditional live folklore of Malaga where between 16 and 20 people take part, each with a specific role (mayor, violinist, three or four guitarists, a tambourine player, three or four cymbal players, a flag dancer and three or four dancers). Also on the 25th, from 22:00, the Panda de Verdiales Arroyo Conca will perform in Comares, in the Plaza de los Verdiales.
The children’s programme will continue on Sunday 25 August in Júzcar with La Carpa Teatro and its parade show ‘La magia del colour’ (The Magic of Colour). Almáchar- The Ajoblanco Festival: {Translation, summary}

– Featuring free tours throughout the day.
– Workshops to “Learn to make Ajoblanco” will be held at the Senior Center, on Barakaldo Street. The shifts available will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. or from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Places are limited, registration will be made at 952 51 20 02.
– From 12:00 to 15:00 there will be a tasting of ajoblanco in the Paseo de la Axarquía and in the Plaza del Santo Cristo de la Banda Verde and at 12:30 the ‘Pica de Pasas’ workshop will start in the Plaza del Santo Cristo de la Banda Verde, carried out by the Association ‘Teatro El Lugá’.
– From 12 noon onwards, the exhibition of the 3rd ‘Windows to Art and Muscatel’ painting competition of the Axarquia of Malaga, organised by the Muscatel Association, will be open in the Axarquia room of the Centre for Art and Development (CAD). The opening will take place at 17:30 and can be visited until 20:00.
– At 17:00 there will be a parade with verdiales by the Panda de El Borge del estilo Comares. From 18:00 the Plaza de España will host performances by the ‘Luz de Luna’ choir from Almáchar, the José Lucena Flamenco School and the verdiales band from El Borge.
– At the same time, there will be a tourist and gastronomic tour with free tasting of ajoblanco and grapes offered free of charge through various streets of the village. The ‘Dama de la Viña’ wine offered by UCOPAXA will also be tasted in the Plaza del Sto. Cristo. Vélez-Málaga registers the second largest increase in house prices on the Spanish coast: {Translation, summary}
– A recent report by Tinsa reveals a picture in which the Spanish coasts are experiencing a notable increase in house prices. According to Cadena SER, the municipality of Velez-Malaga stands out for registering the second highest rise on the Spanish coast, but it is Orihuela (Valencia) that sets the pace with the highest increase.

Passing the ITV in Malaga is valid for cars from Holland: {Translation, summary}
– If you have had to make an appointment to pass the MOT on your car these days, you may have noticed that the website gives you the option to request the inspection…In Dutch.
– The reason is not so much in the language as in the object itself, that is: the MOT passed in Andalusia is valid for vehicles from the Nederlands. And the public company Veiasa, dependent on the Government of Andalusia, and the National Road Service of the Netherlands have an agreement by which the inspection is valid in both.
– Although largely unknown, this alternative has existed since 2014, although only in three stations in Andalusia, specifically in Marbella, Seville and Motril (Granada), thanks to the collaboration agreement signed between Industrial Verifications of Andalusia (Veiasa), and the government entity RDW, responsible for the national road service of the Netherlands.

Belorado nuns busted for black market puppy mill: {Translation, summary}
– The excommunicated nuns of Belorado {pic, left} have not paid the fine of 3,001 euros imposed by the Junta de Castilla y León for having a kennel for pedigree dogs and not having a breeding centre licence.
– The nuns keep the dogs inside the convent of La Betronera, which they wanted to use as a supplementary source of income and which have become another of their headaches. In any case, the animals are well cared for, as confirmed by the Official Veterinary Services of the Territorial Delegation of Burgos. The sanction has not as of yet been appealed by the nun’s legal advisor either, so the regional administration will soon start ‘the enforcement procedure to claim the debt’, as explained by sources of the Territorial Delegation.
– The case derives from the visit made by the Seprona of the Guardia Civil of Burgos in February 2023, following complaints from neighbours of the surroundings of the Belorado monastery annoyed with the continuous barking of the animals, as well as issues related to the sale of puppies over the internet.
-A sanctioning file was then opened for an administrative infringement according to the current legislation on Animal Health, with a proposed fine of 3,001 euros for a serious infringement. The sanctioning resolution was notified on 5 June 2024 and once the period had elapsed ‘there is no record of voluntary payment or of any appeal having been lodged, so the resolution became final’ and the payment of the sanction was requested by means of the enforcement procedure.
