SPAIN
The judge demands the last five income tax returns of Sánchez’s brother in view of his inexplicable assets: {Translation, summary}
– The AEAT (Agencia Estatal de Administración Tributaria) defends that everything is fine in the tax situation of Pedro Sánchez’s brother. It has done so in an inexplicable report delivered to the Justice Dept. that does not even have the signature of the inspector in charge of the study of David Sánchez’s situation.
– But the truth is that Judge Beatriz Biedma {pic} had asked for much more information: she has demanded the last five income tax returns of Sánchez’s brother in view of his inexplicable wealth- with less than 300,000 euros in income, he has managed to accumulate a wealth of more than 2,000,000 euros and own homes in 3 countries.
– ‘With regard to the offences against the Public Treasury and illicit enrichment, it is necessary to send an official request to the Tax Agency to issue a detailed report on the following points relating to David Sánchez Pérez-Castejón’. This was the request made by the judge.
– And there she demanded to know ‘whether he has his tax residence in Spain or Portugal, the tax period in which the change of residence has taken place, if it has taken place, and whether his tax residence in Portugal would be compatible with his status as a Spanish civil servant and his obligation to provide his professional services on a regular basis in Badajoz, Spain.
– The court has doubts in that the Treasury report sent to the Court does not detail the existence of another source of income, despite which, it ensures that the tax situation and declared income of David Sánchez is correct.
– The judge also demanded to know ‘whether, from all the data and documentation available to the tax agency, an increase in his assets that is not a direct consequence of his income can be determined, and whether it would be greater than 250,000 euros’.
– David Sánchez own income statement includes further details. That he has three flats – in Madrid, St Petersburg (Russia) and the one in Elvas (Portugal) -, that he holds 63,880 euros in cryptocurrencies and that he has another 114,073 euros in deposits in bank accounts. All this plus nearly one and a half million euros in BBVA shares. In these statements it can be confirmed that the brother of the President of the Government has not paid IRPF or Patrimonio in 2021 and 2022, and, apparently he would not have paid it either in 2023 due to his illegal claim to not be a tax resident in Spain since 2021, according to Sánchez’s own criteria, which is not that of the law. Source, Spanish: https://www.libertaddigital.com/espana/politica/2024-08-22/la-juez-reclama-las-cinco-ultimas-declaraciones-de-la-renta-del-hermano-de-sanchez-ante-su-inexplicable-patrimonio-7157295/
– {Note: David Sánchez is 50 years old. His parents were comfortable but not rich, Dad was a Ministry of Culture administrator and Mom a lawyer. He studied in the United States and Russia, where he graduated in Composition and Orchestral Conducting at the St. Petersburg Rimsky Korsakov State Conservatory. He is currently the director of the Performing Arts Office of the Badajoz Provincial Council? How did he accumulate all this wealth on a civil servant’s salary, or previously, on the wages of a young, unknown orchestra conductor. And were taxes properly paid on all the other assets he managed to collect? Those are the questions that the judge, head of the Court of Instruction number 3 of Badajoz, Beatriz Biedma, wants answered, and the left wants to bury. -Ed.}

Frequent on-line sellers warned- The Treasury begins to send fines to people repeatedly selling second-hand clothing and objects on Vinted, Wallapop, Milanuncios & other websites or apps: {Translation}
– More than a few people will be caught off guard by this letter, because until a year ago it could be said that ecommerce between individuals was still living behind the tax authorities’ back. But that was amended in January this year, when Royal Decree 117/2024 came into force in Spain transposing the European Directive DAC7 (Directive 2021/514), which obliges platforms for buying and selling second-hand goods to collect, verify, update and communicate to the Treasury the details of certain sellers, those users who have made 2,000 euros in profits in a year or have carried out more than 30 transactions.
– As José María Mollinedo, secretary general of the Trade Union of Technicians of the Ministry of Finance (Gestha), explains, the spirit of the law is to detect those people who have turned selling used products online into a profession. What is more, according to this expert, the Treasury has detected the existence of individuals who are already real submerged companies in the shelter of ecommerce, taking advantage of sales in department stores to acquire products at low prices and sell them without paying taxes.
– However, those who have sold a pair of T-shirts on Vinted or a bike on Milanuncios can relax, of course depending on the value of the bike. If the amounts provided for in the Directive are exceeded, the platforms will inform the tax authorities. The problem, explains Mollinedo, is that until now users have been unaccustomed to this, and it is possible that many of them will be caught by surprise by the letters from the tax office.
– How much will the penalties be? In the event of a penalty, Mollinedo explains, in most cases it will be 50% of what should have been paid. He gives an example: if a person sells a bicycle for 4,000 euros that had cost 3,000 euros, those 1,000 euros will be capital gains, which in Spain is taxed at a rate of 19% on savings income. In other words, if we do the transaction in Milanuncios and do not say anything to the tax authorities, we could be liable to be charged 50% of the outstanding savings income or a lower amount if we pay on time. {And how exactly do they determine the base value of all these used items in order to make this “capital gains on used goods” tax calculation? Used clothes have no price tags & come in a range of quality. Sounds fishy to me. -Ed.}
– The Directive came into force in January with effect on operations carried out in 2023 and the 2023/2024 income tax campaign ended on 1 July, so the warning letters and penalties for non-compliance could start to arrive at the end of August, although it is expected that the bulk will be processed in September, which is when the ‘truce’ given by the Inland Revenue for the summer period comes to an end. Mollinedo explains that we will have to wait a few months to find out what benefit this regulatory change will have on the State’s coffers.
– The ‘second-hand tax’ arose as a response to the unusual boom in Internet sales between private individuals in recent years. According to data from Mangopay, a payment infrastructure provider that services the world’s leading platforms (Wallapop, Vinted and Milanuncios among them), in Spain the sector has grown by 90% in the last three years. What’s more, a recent report by US marketplace ThredUp, a global ecommerce giant, estimates that the volume of used clothing sales and purchases will double by 2027, growing three times faster than the overall market, to represent 10% of the global textile market. Logically, European tax authorities had to get their hands on this business. Source, Spanish: https://www.abc.es/economia/hacienda-empieza-enviar-multas-cartas-miedo-ventas-20240822141247-nt.html

Junta of Andalucia accuses Montero of ‘taking the piss’ out of Andalusians after the agreement on ‘privileged funding’ for Catalonia: {Translation}
– The Minister of the Presidency, Interior, Social Dialogue and Administrative Simplification of the Andalusian Regional Government, Antonio Sanz (PP) {pic}, on Thursday accused the First Vice-President of the Government and Minister of
Finance, María Jesús Montero, of ‘making fools of the Andalusians’ after her statements on Wednesday in which she denied that the agreement between the PSC and Esquerra Republicana de Cataluña (ERC) for the investiture of the socialist Salvador Illa as president of the Generalitat (regional government) involves an ‘economic agreement’ or a ‘reform of the system of regional funding’.
– The Minister of the Presidency made this statement on Wednesday during a visit to the Rota Town Hall (Cádiz), in relation to the agreement on the financing of the Catalan administration between the PSC and ERC this summer.
– Following these statements by the Finance Minister, the Government of the Junta wanted to ask Montero to ‘stop insulting the Andalusians’, because, according to the regional minister Antonio Sanz, her words on Wednesday represent ‘an insult to the Andalusians’, whom the vice-president ‘takes us for fools’. ‘We know what an economic agreement is, what the quota is, and we know what a singular and, therefore, privileged financing of Catalonia is compared to the rest of the autonomous communities’, and “to deny this is to make fools of us”, said the representative of the PP-A government.
– After pointing out that he does not know whether Montero ‘wants to take the piss out of everyone’, including ERC, the Minister of the Presidency warned that the Andalusians ‘are not going to allow us to have a Vice-President, who is also Andalusian, who used to defend the opposite, who today defends privileges against Andalusia’ and who utters words ‘insulting’ to this autonomous community. ‘Therefore, we ask you to stop insulting, not to take us Andalusians for fools, your words are very insulting’, Antonio Sanz has claimed to María Jesús Montero, who has also complained that the agreement between the PSC and ERC comes to “seriously damage public services in Andalusia”.
SANZ: MONTERO ‘HAS DECIDED TO SUPPORT SÁNCHEZ AGAINST ANDALUSIA’.
– The Minister has argued that ‘every day it is more incompatible to defend’ the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, ‘and defend Andalusia’ at the same time, and ‘it is clear’ that Montero ‘has decided to support Sánchez against Andalusia’, and the referred ‘funding pact is clearly unconstitutional’, because ‘in no case is a Catalan quota, a privileged financing system’ for an autonomous community based on the Constitution, something that ‘breaks the principle of inter-territorial solidarity, the principle of equal opportunities and, of course, breaks and endangers the constitutional strength of our State’.
– Along these lines, Antonio Sanz emphasised that the Andalusian Government is going to try ‘with all possible legal and political means to prevent this outrage against Andalusia’, and maintained that this agreement represents ‘an economic blow against Andalusia led by the PSOE’, a party which the Minister criticised for ‘favouring territories against Andalusia’.
– From this premise, the Minister has encouraged the Andalusians to ‘clearly rebel’, and has stressed that from the Board governed by the PP-A ‘we will do it legally and politically, with all the possibilities that our action allows us, also from the legal field, because this outrage cannot be allowed, because this decision endangers public services’, as Antonio Sanz has stressed, who in this line has pointed out that services such as ‘education, health, social services and dependency’ will be ‘harmed’. He pointed out that, ‘compared to rich communities’ that ‘are going to receive more money’, the autonomous communities ‘most in need are clearly being harmed’, bearing in mind that ‘we already have a funding system that is absolutely unfair and contrary to the interests of Andalusia’, and ‘now we are going to get even worse’, as he lamented.
– The Minister added that ‘the seriousness’ of what the Minister and Vice-President of the Government said on Wednesday is that ‘she denied the possibility of Andalusia having a transitional equalisation fund until there is a new regional funding system’, and ‘this is very serious, because Minister Montero was the one who’, as Minister of Finance, ‘promoted an agreement in the Andalusian Parliament requesting this transitional equalisation fund and 4. 4 billion euros to the Government’, then – in 2018 – presided over by Mariano Rajoy (PP), according to Antonio Sanz.
– ‘Denying this transitional equalisation fund is an attack on Andalusia’ and “an unprecedented economic blow”, according to the minister, for whom, moreover, “it shows that we have the most anti-Andalusian president in history” – in reference to Pedro Sánchez – “but the worst thing is that he has the support of a person who should be Andalusian and who clearly attacks and harms our autonomous community”, in allusion to María Jesús Montero, Antonio Sanz concluded. RINCÓN DE LA VICTORIA
Pioneering Malaga flamenco dance teacher ‘Conchita’ Zamora dies at the age of 70 in Rincón de la Victoria:
– While Malaga was enjoying the traditions and customs of the city’s August fair, one of its greatest supporters and regular participants, flamenco dancer Concha Zamora, died at the age of 70 in her home in Rincón de la Victoria. A great defender of the verdiales and malagueñas, and a tireless champion of the festive events, she was a pioneer in the teaching of Spanish dance in the province.
– Born in the Tetuán district of Madrid in 1954, but moved to Malaga when she was very young, and she became well-known because she taught dance classes from the early 1970s onwards.
– During her long career, she received numerous prizes, and she has a street named after her in Rincón de la Victoria, the town where she lived.

FROM THE “WHAT THE HELL ARE THEY THINKING” DEPARTMENT
Spain’s new so called “Parity Law” is nothing of the sort:
– It was the first law approved by the Council of Ministers in this legislature and the last to receive the go-ahead from the Congress of Deputies before the summer. All the groups, except PP and Vox, gave the green light in July to the parity law promoted by the Ministry of Equality with the aim of breaking down obstacles to equal opportunities between men and women.
– The law includes the ‘principle of balanced presence’, which initially imposed a 60-40% ratio, no more than 60% male to a minimum 40% female representation, in all public administration bodies, as well as in the public-private sphere of public interest companies or the boards of professional associations.
– However, and this is a HUGE however, a change agreed to during the parliamentary process between the far-left Podemos and socialist-left PSOE, who hold a house majority, broke this parity in favour of females. Thus, while men will not be able to represent more than 60% in positions of power in public bodies or in the management of listed companies in the private sector, there will be no limit for females, so they can reach up to 100%, for example, in the Government, listed companies and bodies such as the Constitutional Court (TC) and the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ), as long as it is proceedurally correct.
– {How in the world is that “parity”? It sounds more like revenge to me. They have replaced the validity of the meritocracy with popularity contests! More participation awards so the less talented don’t get their feelings hurt. How thoughtful. Sorry, this ain’t middle-school football. In challenging times of great struggle, disaster, pandemic, out-of-control inflation or war I want the best qualified people in charge; what restroom they use should not enter the equation. -Ed.} Source, Spanish: https://www.20minutos.es/noticia/5524978/0/claves-nueva-ley-paridad-listas-creemallera-cuota-hombres-calendario-aplicacion/

Full directions and further information can be found on our Facebook page, or you can contact us by email on elpuentechristianfellowship@gmail.com or by phone on 665626342.
For those who cannot join us in person, we aim to stream Sunday services via the Facebook page (subject to a good internet connection).

Oreo – Border Collie Type, approx 13 months old. A very friendly young dog, gets on with cats, dogs and children. Found wandering the streets, exhausted in the heat, now safe in a foster home with other dogs. Soon to start his vaccinations, once we receive his blood test results.
Rio – A stunning German Shepherd, approx 12 months old, he has taken well to his foster home, and obviously been used to living in a home. A very good dog, walks well on a lead, and is learning to sit, stay and come. Soon to start his vaccinations.
– Please take a look at our website, where you will find more information and photos, plus details of other dogs and pups that we have in our care. Our adoption costs are €110 for pups that have been fully vaccinated, rabies, chip and passport and €180 for older dogs that have all vaccinations, papers and have been neutered. This contributes towards their vet and care costs, and helps us to continue rescuing abandoned dogs and cats.
