Your questions answered by Ruth from Compare Funerals Spain
– Why should I have a funeral plan? Having been funeral planning for over 10 year I’ve experienced some very sad and upset families when nothing is in place. A Spanish funeral plans will ensure that all costs are covered for your funeral service. Getting a prepaid plan will help you feel assured that your family will not be under any financial strain when it comes to paying for your funeral. A plan also means you can have peace of mind that everything has been organised in advance, so your loved ones do not have to make any difficult decisions.
– Why choose Compare Funerals? There seems to be a gap in Spain between independent funeral directors, offering plans at a good price but lacking the security of an established Trust or ability to cover a client overseas and Providers who seem to charge more than necessary. We want to be right in the middle and offer the best of both worlds. Our best-priced plan is only 2,250€ and does the essentials.
– Can I do a payment plan? All our plans are payable in full or over up to 5 years interest FREE. The interest free periods are based on initial deposit. The higher the deposit the less your monthly repayments will be.
– Can I transfer the plan? The answer is YES. You could name 2 people on one plan however if you had a friend/family member pass away we can transfer the plan into a 3rd party’s name.
– What happens if I move? All our plans offer the equivalent service in Spain (including the islands), Portugal, Republic of Ireland and the UK. If you moved to the UK, we would transfer the plan to one of our many partners at no extra cost to you.
– Is paperwork included? Yes, your family will receive a death certificate in Spanish and an international certification in English. We also provide a cremation certificate that allows the ashes on board a plane.

Huge Thanks: The Magic Of DigameXtra
– In my Editor’s note yesterday I explained that my main PC had crashed following the earthquake. In fact, my main tower PC had burnt out due to a power surge, as I had failed to replace my old UPS power filter for lack of funds. Today two of DigameXtra’s most ardent supporters, who wish to remain anonymous, delivered me not one, but 2, high-end tower PCs, and a replacement UPS unit. I am forever in your debt. Thank you for rewarding my efforts to keep the community well informed.
– I will spend this weekend getting reorganized, and if all goes well, DigameXtra will be back to normal next week.
– If more of the 97% of DigameXtra subscribers who failed to donate to last year’s holiday fundraiser would follow this example of generosity, then I would be able to give myself a raise from the humble €2.03/hr I made editing the 2023 issues. Well done gents! My faith in humanity has been restored! Well…at least until we see the results of this year’s holiday fundraiser next January. -Ed.

Judge Peinado resumes the case against Begoña Gómez with four testimonies: {Translation, summary}
– Judge Juan Carlos Peinado resumes this Monday the case against Begoña Gómez, wife of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, with four testimonies after giving access to the parts of the recording of Sánchez in Moncloa and waiting for the decision of the High Court of Justice of Madrid (TSJM) on the complaints filed against him.
– Despite the fact that August is closed for the Administration of Justice, Judge Peinado has kept the investigation alive by agreeing to summon and summon a series of witnesses, and at the same time has issued several orders. These are the deputy general manager of the Fundación la Caixa, Marc Simón, and the CEO of Reale Seguros, Ignacio Mariscal, whose entities financed the extraordinary chair in Competitive Social Transformation created by the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM), directed by Gómez, and which the judge is investigating for alleged irregularities, who has already charged its rector, Joaquín Goyache.
– These appearances are in addition to those of the CEO of the Barrabés Group, Luis Miguel Ciprés, who was awarded a series of public contracts, some of them referred to the European Public Prosecutor’s Office, and of Leticia Lauffer, CEO of Wakalua, a subsidiary of Globalia, who denied in the Senate investigation committee on the Koldo case having been the link to facilitate the rescue of Air Europa due to her links with Begoña Gómez, with whom she had a “very good” professional relationship in which there was “nothing strange”.
– The testimonies on Monday come after last Friday’s search of Barrabés’ house. Source, Spanish: https://www.20minutos.es/noticia/5627689/0/begona-gomez-juez-peinado-retoma-agosto-causa-contra-begona-gomez-con-cuatro-testificales/

Turn in the weather in Malaga for the last week of August- possible showers and thunderstorms: {Translation, summary}
– A DANA entering Andalusia from the Atlantic will cause a change in the weather in Malaga this last week of August, which could result in rain. Yesterday morning, Monday, a few drops fell in certain parts of the province, including the capital, although it was ‘scattered and isolated, very insignificant’, in the words of the director of the Meteorological Centre of Malaga, Jesús Riesco. The highlight was in Nerja, where a downpour surprised everyone, leaving 4.6 litres per square metre according to Aemet records.
– The most notable change in the weather will occur from Wednesday 28th, as Riesco explained. ‘We will have circulation from the south, coming from Africa, and there could be a storm in the middle layers, which could leave drizzle even accompanied by mud’, detailed the director of the Meteorological Centre of Malaga, who nevertheless alludes to the great uncertainty surrounding these forecasts, as he says “the band can deviate”.
– Looking ahead to Thursday, the forecast of Aemet predicts that instability will become more intense in the province of Malaga and Andalusia, with a depression in height that will be isolated in the southwest of the Peninsula between Thursday and Sunday. On those days, according to Riesco, ‘we may have rainfall in the province, even locally accompanied by thunderstorms’, although ‘it is very difficult to say when and where’.
– When will it cool down in Malaga? As for temperatures, we will still have to wait for it to start cooling down, especially on the coast of Malaga, where the unbearable heat of the last few days will continue all week, with thermometers around 30 degrees but with a very high relative humidity, which increases the thermal sensation by several degrees. Inland they will be a little luckier and this week it will cool down ‘clearly’, according to Riesco. Specifically, the mercury in Antequera this week will be between 31 and 33 degrees, with lows of 20.
– With regard to the weather forecast for September, ‘there will be some instability, we will see what effect it will have,’ says Riesco. What does seem clear is that it will be warmer than normal. Russia accuses Ukraine of using toxic chemicals on battlefield- including terror inducing hallucinogen “BZ”:
– Russia on Tuesday accused Ukraine of using toxic chemicals on the battlefield and said it has detected more than 400 such cases. Russia’s Chief of Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Protection Troops, Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, said at a press briefing that in the course of the “special military operation” in Ukraine, they had confirmed more than 400 cases of the use of toxic chemical substances by the enemy forces.
– According to the Russian military official, the substances used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces include BZ compound, an incapacitating agent, as well as hydrocyanide and cyanogen chloride, both highly toxic. Kirillov said that in the Donetsk region, next to the city of Avdiivka, taken by Russian troops in February this year, a laboratory was discovered where toxic substances were produced. He added that the laboratory had the capacity to produce up to three kilograms of toxic substances daily, equivalent to more than 40,000 lethal doses.

FINANCIAL
Euribor heads for its biggest monthly drop in 15 years with average mortgage down by up to 919 euros per year: {Translation, summary}
– September is always a difficult month for families’ finances, but this year it will come with a little relief for many. With only four days to go before the end of August, the one-year Euribor – the indicator used to calculate the repayment of almost all variable-rate mortgages in Spain – stands at 3.180% on average for the month, 0.35 points below the figure at the end of July. A plunge that anticipates substantial revisions in the monthly bill paid by families.
– Barring a disaster, the Euribor will close August at its lowest level since December 2022, the biggest fall in this indicator compared with the previous month in the last 15 years.
– The most tangible consequence for families will be a relief in their mortgage repayments. For an average variable loan – 150,000 euros over 25 years with an annual review and a differential of one point over Euribor – updating the instalment with the August figure can mean a saving of up to 76.54 euros per month (€919 per year). In mortgages with higher debt, the relief would be even greater.
– In any case, although the relief is considerable, the monthly bill that borrowers will pay will still be well above what they were paying before the inflationary crisis. A scenario that is unlikely to return in the short or medium term. According to provisional data for August, variable mortgages will continue to be 23% more expensive than in 2022 (which translates into 153 euros more per month for a standard loan such as the one mentioned above) and 52% more expensive than three years ago, when the Euribor was in negative territory.
– The other consequence of the fall in the Euribor, which has been occurring since March although not as abruptly as in August, is that the cost of new loans should become cheaper. The latest data published by the Bank of Spain show that the interest paid on new home purchase transactions stood at 3.38% last June, almost six tenths of a percentage point below the peak reached in October last year.
– The big question is whether this downward trend in the Euribor will continue from now on and for how long. The next clue in this regard will come from the European Central Bank (ECB) in just over two weeks. The institution that regulates the euro will decide on 12 September whether or not to apply a further cut in official interest rates – the rates that define how much it costs to borrow or the remuneration of deposits.
– The markets are betting that the institution chaired by Christine Lagarde will vote in favour of lowering rates. A view that, according to ECB sources quoted by Reuters, is shared by the central bank’s decision-makers. The context seems favourable for this. In the eurozone, inflation remains stable at around 2.6% (very close to the 2% target); wage rises (an indicator of great concern to the ECB) have moderated and the US Federal Reserve has recently announced that it will lower rates for the first time two and a half years after starting to raise them.
– The signals sent by central banks in the coming weeks will be key to anticipating the future of the Euribor. It would not be the first time that the markets err on the side of optimism and bet heavily on rate cuts that in the end do not happen. Last December the Euribor already suffered a sharp fall similar to the one in August, precisely because of this euphoria that finally came to nothing. The fraud of the transgender law- a new challenge for the justice system in the face of male violence- ‘By changing gender they will not go unpunished’: {Translation, summary}
– The free self-determination of gender recognised in transgender law has led some men to try to take advantage of the removal of obstacles to changing their sex in the
Civil Registry by thinking that they can benefit from convictions for gender violence. The latest case to come to light has occurred in Seville, where a man sentenced to 15 years in prison for assaulting his partner has managed to defer his sentence by changing his sex one day before his sentence was handed down, which has forced the Gender Violence Court to defer the case, given that, until fraud of the law is proven, it is no longer within its jurisdiction.
– The case of a policeman arrested for attempting to assault his wife after having changed sex has also set off alarm bells. The Public Prosecutor’s Office has already announced that it will investigate a possible fraud of law in the request for a change of registration, as in this case the accused would be tried for domestic violence and not for gender violence, which implies slightly lighter sentences.
– The two cases are, however, different. The trans law passed in 2023 stipulates that the rectification of the registration in no case renders ineffective crimes committed with the previous registered sex. In other words: changing one’s sex after committing a crime does not avoid being sentenced for it according to the gender that was on record when the law was broken, as is the case in Seville.
– The difference between the two cases lies, therefore, in the time at which the crime was committed. The police officer decided to change his sex months before attempting to attack his wife, which benefits him in the sense that, in principle, he should be tried as a woman and, therefore, not convicted of gender violence. Even so, the experts consulted by this newspaper insist on sending a message of calm, as once these tricks are known, it is when the justice system begins to investigate and demonstrate that the law is being used fraudulently. Another Reason To Quit Fakebook- In Stunning Letter To Congress, Zuckerberg Admits Fakebook Is A Propaganda Machine, He Complied With Biden-Harris Pressure To Censor Covid & Hunter Biden Laptop Posts, Directly Interfering With The Public’s Right to Make Informed Medical Decisions & As Well As The US presidential Elections In 2020:
– Two years ago Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg admitted to Joe Rogan that the FBI pressured Facebook into censoring the Hunter Biden laptop story.
– Now Zuckerberg’s participating in a Congressional investigation. In a stunning Monday evening letter to House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan, Zuckerberg admitted that senior Biden administration officials “repeatedly pressured” Facebook teams to suppress information related to COVID-19 that the platform would not have otherwise censored.
– Zuck now says that Facebook should not have compromised its standards “due to pressure from any Administration in either direction.” “I believe the government pressure was wrong, and I regret that we were not more outspoken about it,” reads the letter. “I also think we made some choices that, with the benefit of hindsight and new information, we wouldn’t make today.” {Zuck only admits this now because, despite his best efforts to hide the truth, he was exposed by truth warriors. There are many other such FB scandals that will eventually surface. Since Zuck likes martial arts, I suggest he follow the example of the Samauri when they were disgraced. -Ed.}
– Zuckerberg also said that Facebook shouldn’t have censored the NY Post’s Hunter Biden laptop story – and said that the FBI had warned the platform “about a potential Russian disinformation operation about the Biden family and Burisma in the lead up to the 2020 election.” “That fall, when we saw a New York Post story reporting on corruption allegations involving then-Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s family, we sent that story to fact-checkers for review and temporarily demoted it while waiting for a reply,” reads the letter. “It’s since been made clear that the reporting was not Russian disinformation, and in retrospect, we shouldn’t have demoted the story.” Source, Spanish: https://www.zerohedge.com/political/stunning-letter-congress-zuckerberg-admits-biden-harris-pressured-facebook-censor-content
