Your questions answered by Ruth from Compare Funerals Spain
– Why should I have a funeral plan? Having been funeral planning for over 10 year I’ve experienced some very sad and upset families when nothing is in place. A Spanish funeral plans will ensure that all costs are covered for your funeral service. Getting a prepaid plan will help you feel assured that your family will not be under any financial strain when it comes to paying for your funeral. A plan also means you can have peace of mind that everything has been organised in advance, so your loved ones do not have to make any difficult decisions.
– Why choose Compare Funerals? There seems to be a gap in Spain between independent funeral directors, offering plans at a good price but lacking the security of an established Trust or ability to cover a client overseas and Providers who seem to charge more than necessary. We want to be right in the middle and offer the best of both worlds. Our best-priced plan is only 2,250€ and does the essentials.
– Can I do a payment plan? All our plans are payable in full or over up to 5 years interest FREE. The interest free periods are based on initial deposit. The higher the deposit the less your monthly repayments will be.
– Can I transfer the plan? The answer is YES. You could name 2 people on one plan however if you had a friend/family member pass away we can transfer the plan into a 3rd party’s name.
– What happens if I move? All our plans offer the equivalent service in Spain (including the islands), Portugal, Republic of Ireland and the UK. If you moved to the UK, we would transfer the plan to one of our many partners at no extra cost to you.
– Is paperwork included? Yes, your family will receive a death certificate in Spanish and an international certification in English. We also provide a cremation certificate that allows the ashes on board a plane.

Royal Decree to regulate medical cannabis for chronic and persistent pain conditions in Spain: {Translation, summary}
– The Ministry of Health has launched this Monday for public consultation the draft of the royal decree that regulates the medicinal use of cannabis that will be allowed in pathologies with scientific evidence of its therapeutic benefit and in diseases with chronic and persistent pain that is not relieved with the usual treatments.
– In a statement, the Health Ministry informed that the pathologies referred to in the text are spasticity due to multiple sclerosis with stiffness and muscle spasms, severe forms of refractory epilepsy, nausea and vomiting due to chemotherapy and chronic refractory pain that persists with the most common drugs. This list of indications may be expanded or modified, at the hearing stage, depending on scientific evidence and future regulatory decisions.
– The text also establishes a registry to ensure the traceability and quality of standardized cannabis preparations used in the elaboration of master formulas. In addition, prescription will be limited to medical specialists and master formulas of cannabis preparations will be prepared in hospital pharmacy services to ensure adequate pharmacotherapeutic follow-up. These preparations may only be supplied to hospital pharmacy services or for export.
– Prescription is limited to the specialist physician. The physician should periodically evaluate the usefulness and safety of the treatment and consider its cessation if there is no benefit or the risk-benefit ratio is unfavorable. ANDALUCÍA

Spy in the sky- Drones and satellites to monitor the correct use of water in irrigation: {Translation, summary}
– The Junta de Andalucía launched the first annual water resources inspection plan in the last legislature. The action in the Algarrobo River is the first that will be included in the inspection, surveillance and control plans of the Ministry of Agriculture in the irrigable areas of the Andalusian intra-community basins, Tinto-Odiel-Piedras, Guadalete-Barbate and Mediterranean Basins .
– The Minister of Agriculture, Ramon Fernandez-Pacheco, has warned that it will pursue illegal wells “which can never be permitted, especially in times of drought,” which is why inspections will be increased in order to detect and close them.
– The first action with these flying inspection methods has taken place in the province of Malaga in September. The technicians have acted in the irrigated lands located on both banks of the Algarrobo River (also called Turvilla), located around the towns of Algarrobo, Sayalonga, Archez and Canillas de Albaida, respectively, covering various irrigation communities and farms. The result of this inspection has made it possible to obtain very precise information on the use of the land and water, and will make possible a series of derived actions, coordinated between the river guards and the assigned police.
{Callers to local radio programs have complained that private residence properties are also being visited by inspector drones. They said they suspect, judging on the behavior of the drones, the authorities are searching for marijuana plots/greenhouses. -Ed.} Full article: https://www.malagahoy.es/andalucia/drones-satelites-vigilar-correcto-agua_0_2002471477.html

MALAGA PROVINCE

A dozen houses in Alhaurín de la Torre are robbed, four break-ins in one night: {Translation, summary}
– Scrambled drawers, broken locks and mountains of effects thrown on the floor. That is the scenario that several residents of the area of the neighborhood of El Romeral de Alhaurín de la Torre have found after they were robbed. As SUR has been able to learn, the thieves would have accessed in the last two weeks to nine houses in the urbanization Huertas del Romeral, as well as four other plots of Lagar de las Pitas last Friday night.
– The assailants, according to the victims, are perpetrating the robberies at night, taking advantage of the darkness in the area. To do so, according to the victims, they gain access to the residential complexes by damaging the outer fence of some of the plots, after which they go in search of an open window, without hesitating to smash the locks to sneak inside the properties. Once inside the enclosure, they jump from one house to another, they say.
– Last Friday night alone, September 27th, it seems that at least four houses in Lagar de las Pitas were broken into. One of the houses was that of Ania, although at that moment there was no one inside. “The alarm went off around 23.00 hours,” says the victim, who the next day went to report the incident to the Civil Guard headquarters, where she coincided with the neighbors of three other properties in the area. “They accessed two other houses and tried in one more, but there was a woman with her child and she started screaming, that seems to have scared them away,” she explains. According to Ania, the security cameras of her property captured how two hooded men entered the house wearing gloves to avoid leaving fingerprints. The neighbors of this part of Romeral have already created a WhatsApp group, as these events have caused alarm.
– In the case of the urbanization Huertas del Romeral, the first thefts occurred between the last hour of last September 12 and the early morning of the 13th, according to Mario (his name is fictitious, as he prefers to preserve anonymity), one of the injured parties. “There wasn’t a single drawer left that they didn’t throw on the floor, they went with the intention of plundering”. The man explains that this is his second residence so he did not keep any valuable effects in this house, although the thieves, after turning the house upside down, fled with some cash.
– These robberies, as the president of the community, Manuel Hinojosa, acknowledges, are giving rise to “a kind of psychosis” among the neighbors, since in addition to the nine completed robberies, he says, there are many others that have been interrupted when the thieves were confronted by the residents. He says he tries to leave the house as little as possible for fear of assaults. State of the reservoirs in the province of Malaga today:

MIDDLE EAST

Israel recieves 180-missile attack from Iran:
– Iran launched around 180 ballistic missiles toward Israel in a two-wave attack on Tuesday that U.S. and Israeli officials say was largely repelled.
– This was Iran’s largest-scale attack ever against Israel. Most of the missiles were intercepted by Israel and the U.S., and there are no reports of deaths inside Israel. One Palestinian civilian was reportedly killed in the West Bank.
– While most missiles were intercepted, “several hits were identified, and the damage is being assessed,” an Israeli official said. “The Iranian attack was defeated by the U.S. and Israel and was ineffective. It’s a great success,” a U.S. official told Axios.
– Iran said the attack was launched in retaliation for a string of recent Israeli assassinations, but that it was now over, and that Israel would face “a crushing defeat” if it responds with force.
– The use of ballistic missiles made this a more difficult attack for Israel to defend against than the Iranian drone and missile attack last April — Iran’s first-ever direct attack on Israeli territory — which was largely repelled by Israel and its partners. Ballistic missiles can reach Israel within 12 minutes, while drones and cruise missiles leave more time to defend against. Full article: https://www.axios.com/2024/10/01/iran-missile-attack-israel

White House vows ‘severe consequences’ after ‘defeated and ineffective’ Iran attack on Israel — but won’t say what:
– The White House promised Tuesday that Iran would face “severe consequences” for its ballistic missile attacks against Israel Tuesday — but refused to detail what those might be.
– The US helped Israel successfully counter the roughly 180 missiles Tehran lobbed at the Jewish state, national security adviser Jake Sullivan told reporters, as the Pentagon noted that the American destroyers USS Cole and USS Bulkeley launched about a dozen interceptors at Iranian projectiles. “This attack appears to have been defeated and ineffective,” Sullivan emphasized.
– “We are proud of the actions that we’ve taken alongside Israel to protect and defend Israel,” he went on. “We have made clear that there will be consequences — severe consequences — for this attack, and we will work with Israel to make that the case.”
– President Biden, meanwhile, said the “defeated” strike’s relative lack of impact was a “testament to Israeli military capability … [and] intensive planning [between] the United States and Israel to anticipate and defend against a brazen attack.” “Make no mistake, the United States is fully, fully, fully supportive of Israel,” he said.
– But Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned on social media that Tehran and its proxy groups’ attacks on Israel would only grow. “With God’s help, the blows of the uprising front will become stronger and more painful on the worn and rotting body of the Zionist regime,” Khamenei said in a statement posted to X. HEALTH

IU (United Left) says that the health situation on the Costa del Sol is “out of control” with “very poor” management: {Translation, summary}
– The MP for Por Andalucía, Inma Nieto, held a meeting this Tuesday at the Costa del Sol Hospital in Marbella (Malaga) with representatives of the Medical Union and various IU leaders in the province where she noted “the growing concern about the situation totally out of control of waiting lists and health care that today the Medical Union has described as a perfect storm situation”.
– Nieto has pointed out that the Medical Union assures that this situation is due to the fact that there is “less staff than necessary, with a very poor management and with a supposed expansion of these hospital facilities, which they themselves have reiterated to us that it qualifies as a transfer not as an expansion because there is not going to be a reinforcement of staff to ensure that the expansion of services already available to the public in these facilities can add a greater number of specialties and better care and more attention when in fact it will not strengthen the staff.
– In this regard, the MP has pointed out that the Medical Union has raised concerns about the fact that “the two operating room floors that are now available to the public, will be closed, will be chopped, literally, to move the surgical area to the new area very nice, but with only one more operating room, when in fact it will also incorporate vascular surgery that at this time is not done and therefore require a space that will be lacking because these operating rooms will be closed.
