Feria de Nerja 2024: October 8 to 13, Tues-Sun.
– There will be music, dances, children’s shows, parades and the best attractions, with reduced prices, 3.5 euros from the 8th to the 12th and on the 13th, Children’s Day, they will be 2 euros.
– Tuesday, October 8 at 8pm a concert by the Music Band and the proclamation by David Palomas on the main façade of the Town Hall, and the Queen’s Grand Gala 2024, 10:30pm at the Municipal Booth.
– On the 9th, the Queen and Knight for Children and Seniors will be elected, and following, a luncheon honoring our elders.
– On the 10th at 7pm there will be a Mass in honor of the Patron Saints in the Church of El Salvador and immediately followed by the procession through the streets of Nerja.
– On the 11th, the second of the seniors’ lunch will be held where the “Grandparents of Nerja 2024” Awards will be presented.
– On the 12th, religious events will be held in honor of the Virgen Del Pilar, patron saint of the Civil Guard, which will take place at 12 noon in the Church of El Salvador.
– Finally, the councilor has reported that during all days of the Fair, from October 9 to 13, two hours of music blackout are established, from 7 to 9 p.m., for boys and girls with “functional diversity”. (Autism and related syndromes with audio sensitivity are now known in politically correct terms as “functional diversity”.)

Madrid Court of Appeals reopens the case against Begoña Gómez and allows Peinado to continue with the investigation: {Translation, summary}
– The Provincial Court of Madrid has partially upheld the appeals filed by the Public Prosecutor’s Office and by Begoña Gómez and ordered the judge to exclude from the investigation of the wife of the President of the Government the part related to the rescue of Air Europa during the pandemic.
– However, the court refuses to close the case and allows Judge Juan Carlos Peinado to continue with the investigations on the awards to the businessman Carlos Barrabés, except for those that were financed with European funds.
– The two appeals to which the Provincial Court responded indicated that Juan Carlos Peinado was conducting a “general”, “universal” or “prospective” investigation, contrary to law. The brief of the Public Prosecutor’s Office proposed to limit the investigation and the one presented by Gómez’s lawyer, Antonio Camacho, proposed the complete archiving of the case.
– The court rules out that Peinado should interrupt the rest of the investigation.
– In fact, it points out that in a report by the UCO, “99 contracting files [of the Barrabés group of companies] were located, whose report amounts to 24,923,443 million euros”. And it adds that not all these contracts were “financed by European funds through Red.es”. Therefore, the court gives Peinado a free hand to continue this line of investigation.
– In addition, the Provincial Court of Madrid rejects that Judge Peinado is conducting a “prospective” investigation, as denounced by the appellants. “Prospective is the investigation that is initiated in an indeterminate manner in search of possible criminal conduct without a minimum concreteness and founded suspicions, but not that which, starting from a rationally suspicious conduct, initiates a broad inquiry to know in detail all those circumstances that can influence and determine in its qualification, as in the current investigation”, explains the order.
– Apart from the order issued this Monday by the Provincial Court, the head of the Court of Instruction number 41 of Madrid still has pending a third line of investigation. It is a complaint filed by the association Hazte Oir in which it is pointed out that Begoña Gómez misappropriated a software partially financed by the Complutense University of Madrid for one of the masters programs in which the president’s wife worked. This complaint was in the hands of the Court of Instruction number 48 of Madrid by turn of distribution, but was stalled in favor of the one directed by Peinado. The Public Prosecutor’s Office appealed the decision, but Section 23 of the Provincial Court, the same that has signed this order, rejected the appeal. So Peinado must decide whether to accept this complaint, in which case he will add to the crimes of private corruption and influence peddling that of misappropriation.

College of Technical Computer Engineers denounces a new crime committed by Begoña Gómez- professional intrusion: {Translation, summary}

The Supreme Court establishes that communities of owners can prohibit tourist rentals by a three-fifths majority: {Translation, summary}
– The Plenary of the First Chamber of the Supreme Court has issued two rulings in which it declares that homeowners’ associations may prohibit the activity of tourist rentals by means of resolutions adopted by a three-fifths majority at a homeowners’ association meeting and do not require unanimity.
– This conclusion is confirmed by the fact that it justifies the adoption of urgent measures in view of the difficulties of access to rental housing due to the increase in rents due, among other factors, to the growing phenomenon of tourist rentals.
