SPAIN
Here come the Rent Strikes! Tens of thousands of people march in Madrid to demand a drop in rents and threaten to stop paying rents, plan actions for all large cities under banner “It’s over. Let’s lower the rents”: {Translation, summary}
– This is the first big march against the market situation housing right now in Spain, although today the convenors focus the problem on the capital region. The meeting has been joined by organizations such as Affected by Mortgage, Greenpeace, Workers’ Commissions, neighborhood associations… and political parties such as We Can, who has been represented by his secretary general Ione Belarra and former Minister Irene Montero. Other political figures such as Rita Maestre, from More Madrid, have also attended. According to the convenors 150,000 people have gathered, the Government Delegation in Madrid says 22,000.
– The demands are varied and they threaten a drastic decision if rents do not go down. In the call for the demonstration they already stated their intentions and now in the march they have reinforced their intention to go on a rent ‘strike’, that is, to stop paying rents. “It is time for the tenants to take a step forward and initiate an escalation of mobilizations that will lead to a rent strike capable of forcing renters to reduce the price of rents by up to 50%,” the call reads.
– The conveners call for a step forward with this threat after the Housing Law has not served to solve the problems of the market and point to the landlords as one of the focuses of the problem. They demand a 50% reduction in rents so that tenants do not spend more than 30% of their income on rent, as opposed to the 60% that currently exists, they say.
– Protesters, under the leadership of the Tenants Union, have also pointed directly at speculation, investment funds and landlords as the cause of the housing problem. In this sense, the convening organization has emphasized that its impunity is over – and that if the rents continue to rise, they will stop paying them: “And you will not have enough courts, police officers or thugs to evict us all”.

The PP announces a complaint against the PSOE for illegal financing, bribery and influence trafficking- Cuca Gamarra announces her party’s next judicial movement and reiterates her request for resignation to the President of the Government: {Translation, summary}
– The Popular Party will file a complaint on Monday in the 5th Investigative Court of the National High Court against the PSOE for alleged illegal financing, bribery and influence trafficking following known information about businessmen who allegedly brought bags of money to the socialist headquarters on Ferraz Street in Madrid. This was announced by the party’s secretary general at a press conference after the emergency meeting held this Sunday.
– “Faced with the seriousness of the situation and the latest developments we have known in relation to the alleged delivery of cash at Ferraz headquarters, I announce that tomorrow (for this Monday) the People’s Party will file a complaint in the investigating court number 5 of the National High Court against the PSOE for alleged illegal financing, bribery and influence trafficking. We want an unprecedented scandal to be investigated to the end,” Cuca Gamarra said. A strong hailstorm surprises Alfarnate: {Translation, summary}
– A strong hailstorm, which barely lasted ten minutes, surprised the residents of the small town of Alfarnate, in Alta Axarquía, this past Saturday afternoon. The meteorological phenomenon struck with force around 6:40 p.m., in the urban area of this municipality of barely a thousand registered inhabitants, and in the extensive agricultural farms that surround it.
– This was explained to SUR this Sunday by the mayor of Alfarnate, Juan Jesús Gallardo (PSOE), who detailed that the hailstones were “approximately the size of a 20-cent coin”, as can be seen in the image that accompanies this news. “In the town it has caused a lot of damage to the plants on the balconies and terraces and in the countryside also to the orchards and olive groves, which have yet to be harvested,” the Alfarnate councilor detailed. There is no official rain gauge in the town, but residents measured up to 22 liters per square meter, according to the mayor. – As expected, water restrictions are increasing in Malaga. The most affected areas are Malaga capital and Axarquia, where consumption will be limited to a maximum of 180 liters per inhabitant per day. It affects the systems of Guadalhorce-Limonero (Malaga) and Axarquia-Viñuela (Almáchar, Benamargosa, El Borge, Comares, Cútar, Iznate, Macharaviaya, Moclinejo, Rincón de la Victoria, Vélez-Málaga, Totalán, Algarrobo, Torrox and Nerja).
– Somewhat more flexible will be in the Western Costa del Sol (Western (Benahavís, Benalmádena, Casares, Estepona, Fuengirola, Manilva, Marbella, Ojén, Torremolinos and Mijas), where it is limited to 200 liters. This has been agreed by the experts in the drought committee of the Mediterranean Basins that has been held this Thursday, October 10.

The first rains of autumn leave up to 40 liters per square meter in the province: {Translation, summary}
– After the front associated with Hurricane ‘Kirk’, the current Atlantic storm that has entered the Peninsula from the southwest is leaving accumulated rainfall in the
province in the last 24 hours that is being most notable in Cortes de la Frontera, with 39.6 liters per square meter; Antequera, with 38.4; Gaucín, with 35.6; Estepona, with 35, and Alora, with 31. In the eastern part of the territory, the rain is being lighter for the moment, with discrete records, such as 15.8 liters in Vélez or 5 in Nerja, while in the capital barely 1.8 have been collected.
– The good news is that all this rainfall is also having an impact on the province’s reservoirs, although it is still not enough to recover reserves, but rather to compensate for consumption. However, Aemet’s forecasts for next week are positive since it will continue to rain, which would have a palliative effect on the recovery of reservoir storage. Tennis News- From 62 euros to 4,000: tickets for the Davis Cup soar after Rafa Nadal’s retirement announcement: {Translation}
– Those who bought tickets for the Davis Cup in Malaga weeks ago have won the lottery. And no, it has not been necessary to buy any tickets, it has only been necessary that Rafa Nadal announced his retirement on Thursday so that the price of tickets has skyrocketed.
– The quarter-finals begin on Tuesday, November 19 between the Netherlands and Spain. It is, therefore, the only day it is clear that Nadal plays.
– A ticket in zone A4 of the Carpena, just under a month ago cost 62 euros. Now, just a few days after the announcement of the Mallorcan, the ticket has become worth more than 4,000 euros.
– And is that seeing Nadal’s farewell is, as in every sporting competition, a matter of luck. Because you can buy a ticket for the quarterfinals but Spain passes, or you can buy a ticket for the semis but Spain passes to the final. In those cases you would not live the farewell but at least you would enjoy watching Rafa. The worst thing would be, no doubt, to buy a ticket for the final and that Spain does not pass, in that case, neither enjoy Nadal nor live the farewell.
– Hence many people have opted to buy tickets for the first match, the only one in which they are assured to see the Manacor. It remains to be seen how many will be wishing that Spain does not pass to be part of history living the farewell of the considered best athlete of our country. TECH
DoctorLaptop’s Tips #112 – The NEW Malware That Evades Consumer Level Anti-Virus Tools – Old School Malware Removal Methods Return To Fight New Artificial Intelligence (AI) Designed Threats:
– Since late 2015 when Windows 10 arrived, with its introduction of the new, improved Windows Defender, malware has become less of a danger. Advances in malware methods during the last 8 years had stagnated, mostly focused on new exploits of old, well known design flaws in Windows and software.
– AI changes all that. Hackers are now using AI to create new forms of malware. These use new techniques that easily bypass traditional anti-virus protection, exploiting and integrating themselves into legit systems operations, rather than relying on design flaws.
– Yes, you still need your anti-virus to protect from standard threats. But now us technicians who were trained in the older methods of fighting malware, using tools to manually inspect registry files and verify systems files, are glad we have those long-unused skills. Tools that require some training to use, like HijackThis, Combofix, RogueKiller, TDSSKiller, Spybot and DISM, are proving to be the only way to identify and remove these 2 new categories of threats.
1. Polymorphic Malware: Imagine a sneaky virus that keeps changing its disguise (signature) to trick your antivirus. It’s like a chameleon, making it tough to catch.
2. Metamorphic Malware: This one’s even trickier! It’s like a shapeshifter, not just changing clothes, but completely transforming its body. It rewrites its own code each time it infects, making it nearly impossible for any antivirus to recognize.
– Remember, today’s malware may not slow your computer. Hackers want your
computer running well so they can collect more of your data/passwords/accounts; the days of malware that froze your screen with a smiley-face are long gone, no money in that. Ransomware, that locks users out of computers, almost exclusively targets corporations and gov’t networks these days.
– Also, the new SSD hard drives we now use are so much faster than the old mechanical HDD drives, you wouldn’t notice the small slowdown if your computer is infected.
– An annual servicing by a professional trained in advanced malware removal techniques is highly recommended. DoctorLaptop provides this service as part of the “Full Maintenance Service” offer, only €50 for most laptops, €60 for PCs/MiniPCs.

‘National Public Data Corp.’ Files For Bankruptcy Months After Data Breach Involving 3 Billion People Reported:
– The breach exposed information on nearly 3 billion people, including full names, addresses, Social Security numbers, and personal details of both living and deceased relatives. The worst part is that those impacted by this cyberattack may be unaware of their involvement since National Public Data allegedly collects data from non-public sources without consent.
– The Register reported that the organization faces over a dozen class-action lawsuits due to data loss and potential regulatory challenges from the FTC and more than 20 U.S. states. However, plaintiffs may struggle to collect damages, as Jerico has limited physical assets. The bankruptcy petition states: “The debtor is likely liable through the application of various state laws to notify and pay for credit monitoring for hundreds of millions of potentially impacted individuals.”
– Owner Salvatore Verini, Jr. ran the business from his home office with two $200 HP desktops, a $100 ThinkPad, and five Dell servers worth about $2,000. The company has $33,105 in a New York account, despite generating $1.15M last year, with total assets estimated between $25,000 and $75,000, the report says. FBI Creates Fake Cryptocurrency to Expose Widespread Crypto Market Manipulation:
– The U.S. Department of Justice (DoJ) has announced arrests and charges against several individuals and entities in connection with allegedly manipulating digital asset markets as part of a widespread fraud operation. The law enforcement action – codenamed Operation Token Mirrors – is the result of the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) taking the “unprecedented step” of creating its own cryptocurrency token and company called NexFundAI.
– More than $25 million in cryptocurrency has also been confiscated and multiple trading bots behind the “wash trading” (aka round trip trading), which refers to the illegal practice of buying and selling the same financial instruments to create artificial market activity, for about 60 different cryptocurrencies have been disabled.
– Court documents allege that the defendants behind the cryptocurrency companies executed bogus trades using their own tokens to give the impression that they are good investments in an attempt to attract new investors and purchasers, thereby synthetically inflating the tokens’ trading prices. The individuals then sold their tokens at the new prices, a fraudulent scheme known as pump-and-dump, in order to illegally profit from the financial crime. THE REST OF THE STORY
Felipe González, 3 term Prime Minister of Spain (PM 1982-1996, socialist) on possibility of replacing Sánchez as leader of the PSOE- “There are very valid people, but if I say any name, they would be dead”, says the creator of the Socialist Death Squads: {DigameXtra exclusive}
– Now why would González say such a thing? Is he exaggerating? I’m afraid not. It turns out he has every reason to fear fatal results if he were to turn on Sánchez. Let me explain. González used “death squads” against his opposition in the past! {Some would argue justifiably so. I’m not debating 40 year old ETA actions here. My focus is on the current situation. -Ed.}
– The former President of the Government, Felipe González {pic}, believes that Pedro Sánchez does not have to be re-elected as Secretary General of the PSOE in the
Federal Congress to be held in Seville at the end of November, despite the fact that Sánchez is the only socialist militant who has presented his candidacy. “Of course it might not be Sanchez. I assure you that in the party there are very valuable people. I have several in my head”, said González, in an interview in Espejo Público, in which he also confirmed that, for the moment, he has not been invited to that congress.
– Gonzalez, however, has not wanted to reveal any name as a possible rival of Sanchez. “If it is publicly known what comes out of my head, they would be dead,” he said, referring to that hypothetical candidate. And Gonzalez has lamented that the current leadership of the PSOE does not tolerate criticism: “In this party the tragedy is that members must agree with what the party said in its electoral program.” In any case, he has defended his dissenting opinion: “I help the coherence of the party and when it loses it, I try not to lose it”.
– Now let’s put the pieces together…
– What was the GAL? From Wikipedia: GAL were death squads illegally established by officials of the Spanish government during the Basque conflict to fight against ETA, the principal Basque separatist militant group. They were active from 1983 to 1987 under Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party (PSOE)-led governments. GAL operated primarily in the Basque country on the French side of the Spanish-French border, but kidnappings and torture also took place in Spain. Most victims (at least 27 dead and 26 injured) were ETA members or activist Basque nationalists, but some were not known to have links to ETA or any other organization advocating political violence.
– In 1983 González created the GAL “death squads”. In 2024, he is looking over his shoulder.
– To quote the great American radio broadcaster Paul Harvey, “and now you know ‘The Rest of the Story’ “. (Video Link) Video from 1965 where Paul predicted many of the things that have come to pass, titled “If I Were The Devil”.
