Your questions answered by Ruth from Compare Funerals Spain
– Why should I have a funeral plan? Having been funeral planning for over 10 year I’ve experienced some very sad and upset families when nothing is in place. A Spanish funeral plans will ensure that all costs are covered for your funeral service. Getting a prepaid plan will help you feel assured that your family will not be under any financial strain when it comes to paying for your funeral. A plan also means you can have peace of mind that everything has been organised in advance, so your loved ones do not have to make any difficult decisions.
– Why choose Compare Funerals? There seems to be a gap in Spain between independent funeral directors, offering plans at a good price but lacking the security of an established Trust or ability to cover a client overseas and Providers who seem to charge more than necessary. We want to be right in the middle and offer the best of both worlds. Our best-priced plan is only 2,250€ and does the essentials.
– Can I do a payment plan? All our plans are payable in full or over up to 5 years interest FREE. The interest free periods are based on initial deposit. The higher the deposit the less your monthly repayments will be.
– Can I transfer the plan? The answer is YES. You could name 2 people on one plan however if you had a friend/family member pass away we can transfer the plan into a 3rd party’s name.
– What happens if I move? All our plans offer the equivalent service in Spain (including the islands), Portugal, Republic of Ireland and the UK. If you moved to the UK, we would transfer the plan to one of our many partners at no extra cost to you.
– Is paperwork included? Yes, your family will receive a death certificate in Spanish and an international certification in English. We also provide a cremation certificate that allows the ashes on board a plane.
We are DigameXtra sponsors, so our contact info can be found everyday in the Sponsor’s Section.

40% Rent Discounts By Law? Far-left fight among themselves as Podemos demands that the government make the most of its powers to lower rents by 40%:
{Translation, summary}
– Podemos demands the Government to take the bull by the horns and use all the power of the State before the decision of the autonomous communities, both those governed by the PP and those led by the PSOE (with the exception of Catalonia), not to apply the regulation of rental prices made available to them in the housing law. Last Sunday Podemos made public that they will make as a requirement to support the next General State Budget a reduction “by law” of 40% of the rental price. And their proposal, which has been accessed by 20minutos, is based on a novel legal interpretation: that the Constitution gives the central government powers to implement this measure.
– This reading of the legislation is precisely the opposite of the PSOE, which claims that only the communities can establish limitations on rents. In fact, during the last legislature, the Socialists and UNO Podemos negotiated and implemented the housing law -which included the price regulation mechanism- based on that premise: that the competences on housing belong to the autonomous regions and, therefore, the State can only design a general framework to apply them. Podemos sources, however, point out that this regulation allows prices to be lowered precisely because it is a state competence, and affirm that what is the exclusive competence of the communities is to determine the stressed market areas in which to do so.
– In any case, Podemos now defend that, as the Constitution grants the powers on “basic legislation on contracts” to the central Government, the Executive can approve (and the Congress can validate) a lowering of prices by law. And, based on this legal interpretation, the bill that they will propose to the PSOE as a condition for supporting the 2025 Budget is very simple and establishes a 40% reduction in the rental rate of all contracts that are extended or renewed and also a reduction of the same percentage with respect to the previous contract in those that are signed with new tenants.
– Podemos’ legal services consider that the contracts currently in force are untouchable and, therefore, the rental payments would not automatically experience a 40% reduction if the measure they propose were to be applied. But this reduction would be applied at the time of “renewals or extensions”, that is, if the same landlord signs a new contract with the same tenant under the same terms as the previous one or if both agree to extend their agreement for a longer period of time. From October 25 to 27, visitors will be able to enjoy a unique natural environment, with more than 11,000 specimens distributed over 8,000 square meters, in one of the largest botanical gardens in Europe dedicated to these species.

– The evening of Thursday October 31 will feature a ‘Halloween Party’ in Almayate, Cajiz and Valle-Niza. A big party focused on the little ones that will feature different activities in each of the population centers.
– The deputy mayor of Almayate, Cajiz and Valle-Niza, Jesus Maria Claros, explained Thursday the details of the activities from the Mayor’s Office have prepared for such a special evening, where magic and costumes captivate the smallest of the house.
– Claros wanted to invite first of all to all residents of these localities to participate and enjoy the activities prepared. “We have put a lot of care and interest in bringing

The trick or treat will start with the activities we have prepared for that day, which will feature workshops, entertainment, gymkhanas or even a tunnel of terror,” said the deputy mayor in the first instance.
– “In Almayate, the ‘Halloween Party’ will be held in the Mayor’s Office from 17.30 hours to 20.30 hours. We will have a magic show that will start early in the morning. And there will also be children’s entertainment with parachutes, gymkhanas of terror and musical entertainment,” he said.

Russia’s lower house ratifies treaty with North Korea on mutual military support; 3,000 North Korean troops already deployed to fight Ukraine:
– The lower house of Russia’s parliament on Thursday ratified the bilateral treaty with North Korea that calls for mutual commitment to providing military assistance to each other in the event of an armed attack, Russian media reported.
– Russia’s State Duma ratified the treaty during a plenary session, the TASS and Sputnik news agencies reported, following the signing of the pact at the summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in June.
– The “comprehensive strategic partnership” treaty includes a clause committing the two states to providing military support “without delay” if either is attacked.
– The ratification came amid growing tensions after South Korea and the United States confirmed the North is sending its troops to fight alongside Russia in the war against Ukraine. Last Friday, Seoul’s National Intelligence Service (NIS) said that North Korea plans to send some 12,000 soldiers, including special forces, to support Russia. The NIS further told lawmakers Wednesday that 10,000 soldiers are expected to be deployed by December and that 3,000 have already been deployed.

Brits Heading to France Warned of Delays From November 1:
– Holidaymakers from the UK who plan to reach France have been warned of delays from November 1, 2024. The French authorities announced earlier this week that from November 1, the internal Schengen border controls will be reinstated for another six months, until April 30, 2025.
– The controls will take place with all six Schengen neighbouring countries – Belgium, Spain, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Germany, and Italy. This means that all non-EU citizens who want to enter the territory of France from one of the above-mentioned countries will have to undergo controls.
– Following this decision, travel experts have said that Brits should be prepared for longer waiting times when travelling to France from its neighbouring countries. Brits travelling by car or coach from Italy, Luxembourg, or Belgium are expected to be more affected by the controls. In addition, those using Eurostar may also experience long waiting times during passport controls. Full article: https://schengen.news/brits-heading-to-france-warned-of-delays-from-november-1/
MIGRATION IN SPAIN
DYM survey says more than half of Spaniards would support sending irregular migrants to centers abroad as Italy has done: {Translation, summary}
– More than half of Spaniards would agree to transfer irregular migrants to reception centers located in other countries, as Italy has recently done in Albania, to deal with the migratory crisis. PP and Vox voters are the most supportive of this measure, although there are around 50% of PSOE and Sumar voters who would also find it appropriate to promote it in Spain.
– The latest DYM poll for 20minutos has brought to the public the debate that has been brewing for some weeks in the European Union (EU) as a result of the migration policy of the Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, who this week began to relocate migrants to a deportation center in Albania while awaiting the resolution of their asylum claim. Dutch lawsuit against Bill Gates and others over ‘vaccine injuries’ continues, judges find jurisdiction: {Translation from NL}
– The lawsuit against businessman and philanthropist Bill Gates continues. He is accused by a Dutch group of coronaskeptics of “vaccine harm” from corona vaccines. Gates had objected on the grounds that the judges lacked jurisdiction, but the court in Leeuwarden ruled Wednesday that it did have jurisdiction.
– A group has also sued former prime minister Mark Rutte, former minister Hugo de Jonge and several members of Outbreak Management Team, which advised the government, among others. Because Bill Gates’ foundation was involved in fighting the corona pandemic, he has also been subpoenaed. According to the judges, the claims against all the people are interrelated, and therefore it is “expedient” to adjudicate the claims jointly.

Why do the Royals dress so well yet our politicians all look like they buy off the rack at factory surplus outlets? Princess Leonor’s unexpected look brings glamor to the Princess of Asturias Awards concert: {Translation, summary}
– October is always a very busy month for Leonor, with three very important dates: Columbus Day, the Princess of Asturias Awards and, above all, her birthday, which on October 31 will mark the anniversary of her swearing in to the Constitution. As always, at each event, the heiress to the throne surprises us either with a military uniform or with a style that reflects her maturity and the solemnity of her position, although with a touch of trend.
– The King was was also looking good, as usual, his dapper appearance reassuring us that properly tailored basic suits of quality fabric can still be quite impressive. Sanchez and his henchmen should take note and quit buying suits off the rack.

El Puente Christian Fellowship (Vélez-Málaga): We are a friendly, multi-national, Bible believing community of Christ. We meet each Sunday at 11am to worship the Lord. We enjoy a time of worship with contemporary songs and traditional hymns, and a message brought to us by our Pastor, one of our members or a visiting speaker.
The church meeting hall is situated at: Res: El Olivar 5, 8 Bajo 1, Calle Arbequin, Velez Malaga 29700.
Full directions and further information can be found on our Facebook page, or you can contact us by email on elpuentechristianfellowship@gmail.com or by phone on 665626342.
For those who cannot join us in person, we aim to stream Sunday services via the Facebook page (subject to a good internet connection).
