SPAIN

Sánchez will attend a very divided G20 tomorrow in which he will support the global tax on the super-rich and give speech supporting the Agenda 2030 proposals for “global governance institutions” {YIKES!}: {Translation, summary}
– The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, attends the G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) starting this Monday with very divided positions on the global geopolitical situation and in which the host president, Lula da Silva, promotes a new tax global for billionaires, an initiative that Spain supports.
– According to government sources, the main countries in the world face this event with very divided positions on the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East, between the so-called countries of the global south and those that make up the expanded G7, among which is Spain.
– Specifically, in the first group there is a great influence from the so-called BRICS, powers such as India, China, Russia and Brazil that are acting in unison in a very forceful way to assert their vision and interests against Western countries. This circumstance makes work difficult to advance a final G20 declaration that is ambitious and meaningful and therefore it is likely that references to the global geopolitical situation will be left out of it.
– Regarding President Sánchez’s participation in the summit, he is scheduled to speak in the first two sessions, which will take place on Monday, one dedicated to social inclusion and the fight against hunger and poverty and the second on reform of global governance institutions. ANDALUCÍA

Drought is not over despite the ‘Dana’ downpours warns Junta de Andalucía:
– Although the images of the last few days might lead one to believe otherwise, the Andalucía region has not yet kissed goodbye to the serious drought situation it has been experiencing. This word of warning was issued on Thursday during a parliamentary session of the regional government by agriculture minister Ramón Fernández-Pacheco {pic}, whose department is also responsible for water.
– “Despite the heavy rains that have fallen in Andalucía, it is still too early to know what consequences they have had on the reservoirs,” said Fernández-Pacheco. He went on to point out that so far Andalucía’s reservoirs stand at 34% of their capacity, a figure far below what they should be offering at this point in the hydrological year. “It would be tremendously irresponsible to make people believe that the drought has gone,” he warned parliament.

Málaga joins the Andalusian march against the “deterioration” of public health: {Translation, summary}
– Malaga has joined this Sunday the march called by Marea Blanca in the Andalusian capitals against the “deterioration” of public healthcare in the community. A crowded demonstration (some 10,000 participants according to the organization, 3,000 according to Local Police) where the management of the Junta has been denounced in health matters for the “cuts”, the increase in waiting lists and “privatization” and where more health personnel and the improvement of their working conditions have been demanded, as well as more health infrastructures.
– A demonstration that started from the intersection of the Muelle de Heredia with the Alameda de Colón and ended at the Plaza de la Merced. It was attended by users of the healthcare system -some coming from the different regions of the province: Ronda, Antequera, Axarquia, the Guadalhorce Valley and the Costa del Sol; professionals, social groups, trade unions (CCOO, UGT and Ustea) and political parties (PSOE, IU, Podemos and Adelante Andalucía). Minister of Health offers Kamala Harris inspired “word salad”- emphasizes that “all indicators” show that healthcare is “better” than in 2018: {Translation}
– The Minister of Health and Consumer Affairs, Rocio Hernandez {pic}, said Sunday that “all indicators” show that Andalusian public health “is better than six years ago,” when the Popular Party won the elections to the Government of the Board to PSOE-A. This has been expressed in an audio-statement sent to the media in which she speaks to show her “respect” to the demonstrations called by Marea Blanca for this weekend, as well as to emphasize that “we serve to review what we can improve”.
– “We are aware that we have problems to continue to solve and challenges to face, but it is a reality that healthcare is better than in 2018 and we will continue to insist,” remarked the head of Health, who stressed that ”precisely this is what we are doing: working to improve healthcare for all Andalusians.” Hernandez has highlighted that the Andalusian Government has been increasing the Health budget “year after year”, and has stressed, in this regard, that “we have the largest budget for health in the history of Andalusia with about 15,300 million euros for next year, a billion more than in 2024”. “In addition, we are taking very important steps in terms of staffing. The Andalusian Public Health System today has 26% more healthcare professionals, 126,500 in total, of which 28,000 are doctors, 4,500 more than six years ago,” the minister emphasized.
– In line with this, she indicated that “today we are attending 8.5 million people, 20% more, and more surgeries are performed, more consultations are attended, more diagnostic tests are carried out”. Hernández added that “we have also made a great investment effort in healthcare infrastructures, 64 new ones since Juanma Moreno took office”.
-She also pointed out that the Regional Ministry has focused its efforts “on improving primary care, to which we allocate 35% of the budget, ten points above what the WHO recommends”. She explained that “at the moment, we are also working on improving accessibility to the first appointment in primary care and we are doing so within a framework of dialogue and collaboration with professionals”. “We are putting all the measures within our reach to continue improving and providing the response that citizens need,” said Hernández, who acknowledged that ”we still have a lot to do and we will continue to make every effort. Healthcare does not stop. There are always new challenges, new needs and new objectives. And that is what we are working on.” Photo: Esther Lobato. More than 30 arrested in network that swindled eight million euros in fraudulent loans thru identity theft, many of them in Malaga:
– The National Police force in Spain has dismantled a network that was allegedly dedicated to defrauding financial institutions by obtaining loans. Thirty-one people have been arrested and the amount defrauded is estimated at eight million euros. The investigation began when the first complaints were received from financial institutions warning of non-payment of loans obtained by third parties, as SUR has been able to confirm.
– National Police officers found that the documentation with which the loans had been obtained had been forged, and so they directed the investigation towards the persons behind them. This is how they discovered that there was in fact an organisation behind the fraudulent loans and identified the culprits, most of them living in Malaga. The police coordinated a raid in the province and in other Spanish regions to arrest them all at the same time.

Lame-duck War-hawk President Joe Biden Wants To Start WWIII Before Exiting Office- Allows Ukraine to use US arms to strike inside Russia- Crosses Putin’s Red Line As NATO Missiles Now Directly Involved With Attacks On Russian Soil!:
– President Joe Biden’s administration will allow Ukraine to use U.S.-provided weapons to strike deep into Russian territory, three sources familiar with the matter said, in a significant change to Washington’s policy in the Ukraine-Russia conflict.
– Ukraine plans to conduct its first long-range attacks in the coming days, the sources said, without revealing details due to operational security concerns.
– Russia has warned that it would see a move to loosen the limits on Ukraine’s use of U.S. weapons as a major escalation.
– The White House declined to comment.
– The move by the United States two months before President-elect Donald Trump takes office on Jan. 20 follows months of requests by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to allow Ukraine’s military to use U.S. weapons to hit Russian military targets far from its border.
– The change follows Russia’s deployment of North Korean ground troops to supplement its own forces, a development that has caused alarm in Washington and Kyiv.
– The first deep strikes are likely to be carried out using ATACMS rockets, which have a range of up to 190 miles (306 km), according to the sources.
– It is not clear if Trump will reverse Biden’s decision when he takes office. Trump has long criticized the scale of U.S. financial and military aid to Ukraine and has vowed to end the war quickly, without explaining how. Additional important references:
President Vladimir Putin warned the West on Wednesday 25/9/24 that Russia could use nuclear weapons if it was struck with NATO conventional missiles, and that Moscow would consider any assault on it supported by a nuclear power to be a joint attack. The decision to change Russia’s official nuclear doctrine is the Kremlin’s answer to deliberations in the United States and Britain about whether or not to give Ukraine permission to fire conventional Western missiles into Russia. – Russia will be ‘at war’ with NATO if Ukraine long-range missile restrictions lifted, Putin warned on 12 Sept., 2024. Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned NATO alliance leaders that a move to lift restrictions on Ukraine’s use of longer-range Western missiles to strike deep inside his country would be considered an act of war. “This will mean that NATO countries – the United States and European countries – are at war with Russia. And if this is the case, then, bearing in mind the change in the essence of the conflict, we will make appropriate decisions in response to the threats that will be posed to us,” Putin told reporters on Thursday. While farmers protest, UK’s Starmer says will defend budget ‘all day long’:
– British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said on Saturday he would defend decisions taken in his Labour government’s first budget “all day long”, while farmers protested over changes to inheritance tax.
Addressing a Welsh Labour Conference in Llandudno, north Wales {video}, Starmer did not refer directly to the farmers’ complaints, but he said he stood by the decisions made in finance minister Rachel Reeves’ Oct. 30 budget statement.
– While Starmer spoke, hundreds of farmers protested outside the conference venue over a budget measure that will mean more of them having to pay inheritance tax. Their protest included a convoy of tractors. Farmers have warned that the move will threaten the viability of farms, force them to sell land, make produce more expensive and threaten food security. UK businesses have also warned that increased employment taxes and a rise in the minimum wage from the budget will stoke inflation and have a negative impact on investment and jobs.
– One of the protesting farmers, Gareth Wyn Jones, told Sky News that Starmer had angered the farmers further by not speaking to them after his speech. “It’s so frustrating that he’s run out the back door like a flippin’ rat, people here have come here to talk to him,” he said.
– Farmers plan a major protest in London on Nov. 19. Full article:

MIDDLE EAST

Dozens killed and wounded in Israeli strikes across Gaza, medics say:
– Dozens of Palestinians were killed or injured in an Israeli strike on a multi-storey residential building housing at least six families in northern Gaza’s Beit Lahiya town on Sunday {pic}, medics and residents said. The Palestinian Civil Emergency said around 70 people were living in the property but the Gaza government media office put the number of those killed at 72.
– The Israeli military, which has been fighting Palestinian militant group Hamas in Gaza since October 2023, said several strikes were conducted overnight on “terrorist targets” in Beit Lahiya with everything possible done to avoid civilian harm.
– “All information released by the Hamas-run Ministry of Health should be treated with caution, as it has been repeatedly proven unreliable in previous incidents,” it said.
– Video footage of the strike site obtained by Reuters showed locals pulling bodies from a huge pile of rubble, with surrounding houses also damaged, some heavily. HEALTH

The Andalusian Health Service reduces the nursing workforce by 11% from 2021: {Translation}
– The Nursing Union (Satse) in Andalusia has warned this Friday of a “systematic reduction” of nurses in the health centers of the Andalusian Health Service (SAS) in which more than 3,300 professionals have been dispensed with in the last three years. The nurses’ collective has analyzed the latest update published on the SAS transparency portal, corresponding to the average workforce in the second quarter of the year, and compared it with the same period in 2021. The official figure, Satse points out, has dropped from 30,716 professionals to 27,415. The 3,301 fewer nurses represent a decrease in the workforce of 11% in three years.
– In a statement published by Europa Press, Satse describes the data as “alarming”, showing that the strategy of the Regional Ministry of Health is oriented towards “privatization and cutbacks”. The “slashing” of the workforce, the union continues, is “partly covered up” by the incorporation into the SAS of the personnel of the health agencies.
– In an analysis by province, only the province of Almeria recorded an increase in the number of nurses from the second quarter of 2021 after adding 425 nurses from the Hospital de Poniente as SAS staff. Without that addition, “the cut would be 258 professionals”.
– The rest of the provinces have suffered a decrease of different caliber, with Seville being the most affected, with 739 fewer nurses. This is followed by Cadiz, which has suffered a cut of 738 professionals, while in Granada there are 684 fewer nurses. The health centers of Malaga have registered a cut of 507 professionals despite incorporating the 500 nurses of the Costa del Sol Hospital Agency as SAS staff. Otherwise, adds Satse, “the cut in the staff of the SAS” would have exceeded “the thousand”. In Cordoba, the decrease in nurses has been 407 professionals; in Huelva, 308; and in Jaen, 85, despite the addition in this province to the staff of the Alto Guadalquivir Agency, with 146 professionals.
– These data, in the opinion of Satse, confirm the “critical” situation faced by nurses, who assume “an ever-increasing workload with fewer staff”, which has a direct impact on patient safety and the health of the professionals themselves.
***The lowest nurse ratio in Spain***
– The absence of minimum nurse-patient ratios and the lack of staff, considers the union, “deteriorate the quality of care provided to the population”, making the care provided by professionals less and less safe, concludes the Nursing Union. The union recalls that Andalusia has the lowest ratio of nurses per thousand inhabitants in Spain and that to reach the Spanish average, a total of 6,000 nurses would be needed. To reach the European average, 23,000 more would be needed, a lack of professionals that “Andalusians suffer daily”.
– Satse calls on the Andalusian Regional Government to ensure that the next budgets include a commitment to a progressive increase in the structural nursing workforce to bring it into line with the national and European average, as an “essential guarantee for patient safety”. Private healthcare users in Malaga double in just over a decade: {Translation}
– Malaga is the Andalusian province with the most deeply rooted private healthcare among its population. This can be seen from the data on the number of inhabitants with health insurance. In total, there were 525,757 at the end of 2023, which represents 30% of the population. This means that practically one out of every three of its neighbors has this type of insurance.
– Analyzed with perspective, the numbers are even more shocking because in little more than a decade the number of users with health insurance in the province of Malaga has doubled. In 2011, they totaled 269,426 while in 2023 – the last year for which data is available – they amounted to the aforementioned 525,757.
– Healthcare professionals consulted attribute this trend to several factors. Among them, the long waiting lists of the public healthcare system, the variety of offers by private hospitals, the arrival of workers who receive this benefit as an additional labor improvement and the irruption of companies that offer this coverage at very low prices.
