ANNUAL HOLIDAY FUNDRAISER
I can only produce DigameXtra with the financial support of my readers. Once a year, for 7 weeks, I do a fundraiser to help pay production expenses throughout the whole year. This year’s goal is to receive a donation from 4% of subscribers. The 4% Club finances DigameXtra for the 96% group that don’t donate. Which group will you belong to? The generosity of the 4% Club members is greatly appreciated.
Just like your morning coffee,
what would you do
without your morning DigameXtra?
-Holiday Donation Info, 2 Methods-
#1. You may drop cash donations off in person and say hello, by appointment, or place them in my mailbox beside my door anytime. Please be sure to include your name on the envelope- there are benefits to being on the DigameXtra Donor’s lists, such as not needing to open an issue every 2 weeks to maintain your posting privileges, but only if you donate at least €30. Due to health reasons, unannounced drop-ins are inconvenient for me. But if I am expecting you, no problem! My mailbox has the name HARRIS on it. Email me for map and directions. Cash donations are strongly preferred.
#2. Alternatively, you may send me an Amazon ES (Spain) “eGift card” by email. You need to have an Amazon.es account. The only info you need is my email address. Remember, this is an “eGift card” you buy that Amazon emails directly to me, don’t buy a plain “gift card”. Use the link provided below to access the “eGift card” purchase page.
PLEASE DO NOT SEND AMAZON UK eGIFT CARDS. NO BANK TRANSFERS OR PAYMENT APPS.
Here is the Amazon.es eGift Card Link, (NOTE: YOU CAN CHOOSE ANY AMOUNT YOU LIKE ON THE FORM, it is set at €50 by default):

Your questions answered by Ruth from Compare Funerals Spain
– Why should I have a funeral plan? Having been funeral planning for over 10 year I’ve experienced some very sad and upset families when nothing is in place. A Spanish funeral plans will ensure that all costs are covered for your funeral service. Getting a prepaid plan will help you feel assured that your family will not be under any financial strain when it comes to paying for your funeral. A plan also means you can have peace of mind that everything has been organised in advance, so your loved ones do not have to make any difficult decisions.
– Why choose Compare Funerals? There seems to be a gap in Spain between independent funeral directors, offering plans at a good price but lacking the security of an established Trust or ability to cover a client overseas and Providers who seem to charge more than necessary. We want to be right in the middle and offer the best of both worlds. Our best-priced plan is only 2,250€ and does the essentials.
– Can I do a payment plan? All our plans are payable in full or over up to 5 years interest FREE. The interest free periods are based on initial deposit. The higher the deposit the less your monthly repayments will be.
– Can I transfer the plan? The answer is YES. You could name 2 people on one plan however if you had a friend/family member pass away we can transfer the plan into a 3rd party’s name.
– What happens if I move? All our plans offer the equivalent service in Spain (including the islands), Portugal, Republic of Ireland and the UK. If you moved to the UK, we would transfer the plan to one of our many partners at no extra cost to you.
– Is paperwork included? Yes, your family will receive a death certificate in Spanish and an international certification in English. We also provide a cremation certificate that allows the ashes on board a plane.
We are DigameXtra sponsors, so our contact info can be found everyday in the Sponsor’s Section.

SPAIN
Víctor de Aldama, the ringleader of a corruption & bribery plot, implicates both Pedro Sánchez and his wife: {Translation, summary}
– On February 20, 2024, a former personal assistant and driver of José Luis Ábalos, Koldo García Izaguirre, and his wife, were arrested, accused of alleged collection of illegal commissions in the purchase of masks. This investigation uncovered a criminal plot, also involving hydrocarbon deals, that now implicates top officials, as well as their families and associates.
– Víctor de Aldama {pic}, the ringleader of the corruption plot that involves José
Luis Ábalos (Former Minister of Transport), points at the President of the Government, at several of his ministers and even at Pedro Sánchez’s wife as co-conspirators. But above all, he put the finger on the former Minister of Transport, whom he accused of accepting bribes, and especially placed in the center of the hurricane the current number 2 of the PSOE and right hand of Pedro Sánchez, Santos Cerdán, whom he said he asked for 15,000 euros, which he received.
– During the two and a half hours of his voluntary statement before Judge Ismael Moreno, the businessman, as promised, testified regarding the crimes. From the beginning he aimed high, against Pedro Sánchez. He said that the socialist leader asked to meet him in person when he began to collaborate with the Ministry of Public Works. De Aldama said that the photo published in the media dated February 3, 2019 in which the ‘conseguidor’ and the president appear at the presentation of the socialist candidacy for the mayor of Madrid was precisely the day he met the head of the Executive (Sanchez has publicly claimed it was a random fan selfie pic and no words were exchanged). That meeting, which was not random or “surreptitious” according to the accused, was set up by Ábalos himself and his advisor, Koldo García. “I know what you are doing and I thank you. You have kept me informed,” he recalled Sánchez telling him.
– In the same line of trying to implicate Sánchez, the accused has insinuated that the president was the one who insisted that Koldo García, a key player in this plot, joined the ministry then headed by Ábalos. Víctor de Aldama basically made it clear that Pedro Sánchez knew all the movements of the businessman, and was up to date on their activities.
– The alleged procurer in the Koldo case, Víctor de Aldama, referred in his voluntary statement to the judge to various alleged cash payments made at the doors of places such as the PSOE headquarters in Calle Ferraz and at the Ministry of Transport itself, and although neither the prosecutor nor the judge asked him for evidence to corroborate these claims, he said that it is always possible to review the security camera recordings to confirm that what he said happened. The European Parliament refuses to debate in committee on the migration crisis in the Canary Islands: {Translation, summary}
– This Wednesday, the Civil Liberties, Justice and Interior Commission (LIBE)
refused to include in its agenda an exchange of views on the migratory crisis in Spain, with special attention to the situation in the Canary Islands; a debate that the Vox group in the European Parliament, Patriots for Europe, wanted to add, with the support of the Spanish PP, but which has not gained enough support to move forward.
– Thus, the MEPs have approved with 47 votes in favor, 19 against and no abstentions the decision already taken at the coordinator level not to include this matter on the agenda of future sessions of the parliamentary commission.

Eastern Costa del Sol residents face whopping 35% rise in water bills:
– The Mancomunidad association of town halls in the Axarquía, the area to the east of Malaga province, voted on Tuesday 19 November to increase water bills paid by
14 of the 31 municipalities in the area applicable from 2025. The municipalities affected are Almáchar, Benamargosa, Benamocarra, El Borge, Comares, Cútar, Iznate, Macharaviaya, Moclinejo, Rincón de la Victoria, Vélez-Málaga, Totalán, Algarrobo and Torrox, which together have a population of around 180,000 registered inhabitants and some 230,000 in the summer season.
– In the case of an increase of around 27% for wastewater treatment, the municipalities affected are Vélez-Málaga, Benamocarra, Rincón de la Victoria, Torrox and Algarrobo.
– These increases in water rates, from 0.3274 to 0.4429 euros per cubic metre in the case of water supply and from 0.4702 to 0.5977 in the case of sewerage, which are expected to come into effect on 1 January 2025, do not mean that residents will immediately pay these increases in their water and sewerage bills, as it will now be up to each of the affected town halls to decide whether or not to pass them on to end users. However, the technical reports state that, for an average consumption of ten cubic metres per month per household, the increase will be 1.44 euros per month. Axarquia regional gov’t pushes sex-ed classes for 3rd & 4th graders: {Translation, summary}
– The Association of Municipalities of the Costa del Sol Axarquia has received a grant from the Andalusian Youth Institute to implement the programme ‘For a quality emotional and affective-sexual education’. The vice-president responsible for Equality, Mari Carmen Moreno, and the technicians of the CMIM Axarquia, attended the event where the project was presented by the territorial delegate of Social Inclusion, Youth, Families and Equality, Ruth Sarabia.
– Moreno explained that the project ‘For a Quality Emotional and Affective Sexual Education’ will be developed in IES la Maroma (Benamocarra), IES Los Montes (Colmenar), IES Alta Axarquía (Periana), and IES el Almijar (Competa). It is aimed at 3rd and 4th year ESO students, with more than 300 young people expected to take part. {Parents who wish to opt their children out of these activities must make this declaration in writing, personally delivered in advance to school authorities, and be sure to get a receipt. Some school districts in the past, particularly in the north of Spain, have begun similar sex info programs without giving parents advance notice; others do post opt-out notices- buried deep in their “official” websites. -Ed.}
– The municipalities of Algarrobo, Nerja, Rincón de la Victoria, Vélez Málaga, and Totalán have also received the grant. Source, Spanish: https://www.axarquiaplus.es/el-proyecto-por-una-educacion-emocional-y-afectivo-sexual-de-calidad-de-mancomunidad-axarquia-recibe-una-subvencion-del-iaj/

Police in Spain bust international gang that recruited minors to commit murders on the Costa del Sol:
– National Police have smashed an international gang that recruited murders and bombers and which operated in Spain and on the Costa del Sol.
– The investigation was sparked in Benalmádena following the arrest of a 17 year old foreign minor. National Police officers discovered he had travelled to Spain to assassinate a member of a biker group. But the investigation revealed this was not an isolated case as behind this order was an organisation dedicated to recruiting teenagers in Sweden and Denmark to commit settling of scores crimes, in which they even used explosives.
– Police discovered the minor had been the subject of a recruitment process through social media – where the gang had used a Telegram channel to recruit them – and had subsequently sent them to Spain to commit the murder. To carry out the crime, the gang had planned to send an assault rifle and had planned the perpetrator’s escape, which would initially be on an electric scooter, according to investigators.
– In addition to the arrest on the Costa del Sol, two other minors, also of Swedish nationality, who had travelled to Denmark with the intention of committing another murder, were arrested in Denmark. Two firearms were also seized from these teenagers. Full article: https://www.surinenglish.com/malaga/benalmadena-torremolinos/gang-that-recruited-minors-commit-murders-and-20241120131404-nt.html
UPDATE- The police believe that a 14-year-old minor managed the network of teenage murderers: {Translation, summary}
– He hardly ever left the house. He spent his life in his room, surrounded by his computer and his devices. From that screen, he managed – so the police believe – a network of underage hitmen whom he sent anywhere in the world to carry out the orders he received.
– Investigators had on their radar a criminal based in Alicante with apparent connections to organized crime. But, to their surprise, it was not him on the other side of the screen, but his son, a teenager just 14 years old.
– The operation started with another minor, in this case a 17 years old had raised suspicions of police in Benalmádena in May. Officers discovered that he had landed on the Costa del Sol from Sweden and that within a week of arriving he had dyed his hair and changed his physical appearance.
– Plainclothes police discreetly followed his movements and discovered that he had acquired an electric scooter which he used to move around the town, although in days prior to his arrest he focused on a particular urbanization. The investigation would reveal that the target was a member of a Swedish biker gang.
– No weapons were found on the teen’s arrest. The agents believe that the network that recruited him had yet to send him the submachine gun with which to carry out the execution.
– Investigators got to the core of the network, a family living in San Juan (Alicante) that allegedly ran a “debt collection service” and hit squad, with the distinction that it was exclusively using minors for its activities, whom they would have recruited through a Telegram channel in Sweden and Denmark. The investigators believe that the father of the family, a man of Swedish nationality, although born in Eastern Europe, would have been the one who provided clients from different criminal organizations with which he had contacts. They charged from 20,000 to 50,000 euros for their services.

UK
Britain ‘directly involved’ in Ukraine war, Russian ambassador tells Sky News:
– Britain is now “directly involved” in the Ukraine war after its Storm Shadow missiles were used to strike targets inside Russia, according to Moscow’s ambassador. Speaking to Sky News, Andrei Kelin also warned the West to carefully consider the lower bar Russia has established for using nuclear weapons. It comes after Western allies green-lit Ukraine’s use of long-range missiles to strike inside Russia this week, following months of requests.
– British Storm Shadow missiles were fired into Russia just days after President Biden authorised the same policy shift.
Russia’s President Putin responded on Thursday by saying Russia had tested a new intermediate-range missile in a strike on the Ukrainian city of Dnipro. He warned it could also be used against military facilities of countries that allow Kyiv to use their own missiles. “We believe that we have the right to use our weapons against military facilities of the countries that allow to use their weapons against our facilities,” Mr Putin said. “And in case of escalation of aggressive actions, we will respond resolutely in a mirror way.” Full article: https://news.sky.com/story/britain-directly-involved-in-ukraine-war-russian-ambassador-tells-sky-news-13257896
EUROPE
There’s an old Mexican saying I am sure Joe Biden is aware of, “Si te metes con el toro, te quedas con los cuernos” (If you mess with the bull, you get the horns!)– Russia fires intercontinental ballistic missile in attack on Ukraine, Kyiv says: {Translation, summary}
– Russia fired an intercontinental ballistic missile during an attack on the Ukrainian city of Dnipro on Thursday, Kyiv’s air force said, in what would be the first use in war of a weapon designed to deliver long-distance nuclear strikes. The launch, if confirmed, highlights rapidly rising tensions in the 33-month-old war after Ukraine fired U.S. and British missiles at targets inside Russia this week despite warnings by Moscow that it would see such action as a major escalation.
– ICBMs are strategic weapons designed to deliver nuclear warheads and are an important part of Russia’s nuclear deterrent.
– “Today there was a new Russian missile. All the characteristics – speed, altitude – are (of an) intercontinental ballistic (missile). An expert (investigation) is currently underway,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said in a video statement. The Ukrainian air force said the missile was fired from the Russian region of Astrakhan, more than 700 km (435 miles) from Dnipro in central-eastern Ukraine. It did not specify what kind of warhead the missile had or what type of missile it was. There was no suggestion it was nuclear-armed.
– Ukrainska Pravda, a Kyiv-based media outlet, cited anonymous sources saying the missile was an RS-26 Rubezh, a solid-fuelled intercontinental ballistic missile with a range of 5,800 km, according to the Arms Control Association. The RS-26 is classified as an ICBM under a nuclear arms reduction treaty between the United States and Russia, but it can be seen as an intermediate-range ballistic missile when used with heavier payloads at ranges below 5,500 km, CSIS said.
– The Russian missile attack targeted enterprises and critical infrastructure in the central-eastern city of Dnipro, the air force said. This is in addition to Russia’s weekend missile strikes that hit three of the five working thermal plants owned by Ukrainian power giant DTEK and one of them is still offline, an industry source said, illustrating the severity of the latest blow to the national grid. GASTRONOMIA
The bar in Granada that offers 142 tapas and wants to add more:
– Granada is the city of tapas. A place where ordering a beer and getting a free tapa is the norm. Each establishment decides how to offer theirs, for example, there are some places that have a tapas menu with different varieties to choose from. Although it is usual for these types of bars to have between 10 and 20 options to choose from, there are some that decide to go further.
– This is the case of a bar in Alhendín on the outskirts of the city, Taberna Estación 12, where they claim to have the largest variety of tapas available to their customers in Granada: a total of 142. “There are tapas for adults, for children, for all tastes”, explained Fouad Hallouch, owner of the establishment. And to achieve this he has everything: shawarma skewers, a huge variety of fish, hamburgers, pizzas, chorizo al infierno, scrambled eggs. “It’s very complicated and requires a lot of work because we don’t have anything precooked. We like things to come out fresh and for them to be of high quality.” Full article: https://www.surinenglish.com/andalucia/costa-tropical/the-bar-granada-with-142-tapas-choose-20241114070042-nt.html

Whichever advances will take on defending champion Italy or Argentina on Saturday.
– The other semifinal, to be contested Friday, is the Netherlands against Germany. Football News- Soccer’s ‘worst’ national team rises toward 2026 World Cup chance after Nations League group win:
– The official worst national team in men’s soccer is within sight of entering qualifying playoffs for the 2026 World Cup in North America.
– San Marino’s stunning progress this year, as the team ranked No. 210 by FIFA, was capped Monday by a 3-1 win over Liechtenstein that sealed winning a UEFA Nations League group. It was San Marino’s second victory over Liechtenstein, the first in September ended a 20-year winless run in all games for a team whose all-time record in World Cup qualifiers is zero wins, two draws and 76 losses across more than three decades.
– Now, the door to the next World Cup is ever-so-slightly open because UEFA tweaked the qualifying format to elevate teams that win a group in the Nations League, even in the fourth and lowest tier. If results and standings go San Marino’s way next year in European qualifying groups for the World Cup, then entry awaits to the 16-team playoffs in March 2026. US regulators seek to break up Google, forcing Chrome sale as part of monopoly punishment:
– U.S. regulators want a federal judge to break up Google to prevent the company from continuing to squash competition through its dominant search engine after a court found it had maintained an abusive monopoly over the past decade.
– The proposed breakup floated in a 23-page document filed late Wednesday by the U.S. Department of Justice calls for sweeping punishments that would include a sale of Google’s industry-leading Chrome web browser and impose restrictions to prevent Android from favoring its own search engine.
– A sale of Chrome “will permanently stop Google’s control of this critical search access point and allow rival search engines the ability to access the browser that for many users is a gateway to the internet,” Justice Department lawyers argued in their filing.
– Although regulators stopped short of demanding Google sell Android too, they asserted the judge should make it clear the company could still be required to divest its smartphone operating system if its oversight committee continues to see evidence of misconduct. The broad scope of the recommended penalties underscores how severely regulators believe Google should be punished following an August ruling by U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta that branded the company as a monopolist.
