ANNUAL HOLIDAY FUNDRAISER
I can only produce DigameXtra with the financial support of my readers. Once a year, for 7 weeks, I do a fundraiser to help pay production expenses throughout the whole year. This year’s goal is to receive a donation from 4% of subscribers. The 4% Club finances DigameXtra for the 96% group that don’t donate. Which group will you belong to? The generosity of the 4% Club members is greatly appreciated.
Just like your morning coffee,
what would you do
without your morning DigameXtra?
– Holiday Donation Info, 2 Methods –
#1. You may drop cash donations off in person and say hello, by appointment, or place them in my mailbox beside my door anytime. Please be sure to include your name on the envelope- there are benefits to being on the DigameXtra Donor’s lists, such as not needing to open an issue every 2 weeks to maintain your posting privileges, but only if you donate at least €30. Due to health reasons, unannounced drop-ins are inconvenient for me. But if I am expecting you, no problem! My mailbox has the name HARRIS on it. Email me for map and directions. Cash donations are strongly preferred.
#2. Alternatively, you may send me an Amazon ES (Spain) “eGift card” by email. You need to have an Amazon.es account. The only info you need is my email address and your name (the sender’s name). Remember, this is an “eGift card” you buy that Amazon emails directly to me, don’t buy a plain “gift card”. Use the link provided below to access the “eGift card” purchase page.
PLEASE DO NOT SEND AMAZON UK eGIFT CARDS. NO BANK TRANSFERS OR PAYMENT APPS.
Here is the Amazon.es eGift Card Link, (NOTE: YOU CAN CHOOSE ANY AMOUNT YOU LIKE ON THE FORM, it is set at €50 by default):
https://www.amazon.es/Cheques-Regalo-Amazon-es-mail-Amazon/dp/B07SS5PFJK/
On the eGift card purchase form, enter the DigameXtra email as the recipient, as shown below in Spanish and with English translation.
Para/For : digamextra@protonmail.com
For those readers who cannot afford to make a holiday fundraiser donation: Referring friends to subscribe to DigameXtra is a good way for you to contribute to this project with no expense. Thank you.

Congratulations on your 2000th edition of Digame. I always look forward to reading the excellent news reports you include, whilst drinking my coffee, as well as the information as to whats happening in the area. I just hope that you get the 4% (or more) subscribers to donate to your fund raiser, I know that for some people times are difficult, but often they can find enough for a G&T or glass of wine, so even a small donation could be found. Thank you for providing this excellent service, and I wish you good health and peace for 2025. Steve

SPAIN
Marlaska will be held accountable in Congress for the ‘Koldo case’ and his management at DANA: {Translation, summary}
– The Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande Marlaska {pic}, will appear this week before the Plenary of Congress to account for his link with the alleged
procurer of the ‘Koldo case’, Victor de Aldama, and also to explain the management of his ministry during the DANA that has devastated many parts of the territory and left more than 220 dead. It will be on Wednesday 18 in the Lower House when the socialist minister will render accounts before the Plenary.
– The PP thus demands that Marlaska explain the “close and collaborative” relations that his Ministry maintained with the businessman Víctor de Aldama, after knowing the statement of the same before the judge of the National Court in which he pointed to the involvement of the minister in the visit of Delcy Rodríguez to Spain and also to explain the reasons for the award in 2022 of police merit medals to Aldama and his brother Rubén de Aldama.
– Also, the minister will have to answer a question from Vox that will be asked predictably by the deputy Ignacio Gil on the “interests” he serves as Minister of the Interior and also one from the PP deputy Carlos García on whether “he will continue to yield to independence blackmail”.
– The PP also wants the Minister of Interior to explain before the Lower House what operational plans his Ministry put in place for the deployment of the various units of the State Security Forces and Corps in those municipalities and areas seriously affected by the DANA, as well as to account for the resources and protocols of the National Civil Protection System that have been activated and the need for review and improvement of the same. Source, Spanish: https://andaluciainformacion.es/andalucia/1843473/marlaska-rendira-cuentas-en-el-congreso-por-el-caso-koldo-y-su-gestion-en-la-dana/
ANDALUCÍA
The SAS will call patients who cannot make an appointment at their outpatient Health clinic: {Translation, summary}
– The President of the Regional Government announced that the SAS will respond to Andalusians who do not have an appointment within three days. How will this model work? Patients who are unable to make an appointment with their health center will receive a call from the SAS within three days providing them with a solution, which will be either an appointment with their family doctor, with nursing, with the administration staff or the renewal of their usual medication in the event that this is their need.
– The SAS is already doing pilot tests with a new way of managing medical appointments that registers those who cannot take it through the platform, which until now did not happen. Users who could not book appointments through the usual channels (the apps or the Salud Responde phone number) were at a dead end. Now, they will inform the SAS through a simple form with their demand: medical care, nursing or other needs- a form will appear when the appointment cannot be completed.
– From that moment on, the SAS will manage either the medical appointment with their physician (for which there is still a 14-day deadline), the renewal of medication or a telephone consultation with doctors who are available in other health centers. The Regional Ministry of Health explains that there are needs that can be resolved with a phone call and others that require a face-to-face visit; in fact in some outpatient clinics in Seville, Jaen and Cordoba patients are already being attended by phone with doctors who are in the Campo de Gibraltar, which has expedited the demand.
– One of the keys to this model is that the SAS is going to manage appointments for Andalusian patients with a centralized model. Until now, each health center was in charge of its patients and doctors.
– It will also be easier to cancel medical appointments when it is not possible to attend them due to different circumstances, another factor that contributes to the tension of Primary Care. Source, Spanish: https://www.malagahoy.es/andalucia/sas-llamara-pacientes-no-logren_0_2002978934.html

Ukraine Attacks Chechnya Territory, The Most Feared Fighting Force In The Eurasian Continent Promises To Respond:
– A Ukrainian drone struck a campus belonging to Russia’s National Guard Sunday {pic} in the Russian region of Chechnya, as Kyiv continues to strike back after a mass air attack from Moscow. Footage on social media showed a drone swooping low over the Chechen capital, Grozny, some 800 kilometers (500 miles) southeast of the front line in Ukraine, before exploding. No casualties were reported.
– Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov confirmed that the drone had hit a site belonging to the Akhmat Grozny riot police battalion, and said that two other drones had been shot down by air defenses. Kadyrov pledged revenge on Ukrainian forces and said he had ordered a missile strike against military facilities in Kharkiv in retaliation for the attack. TECH
Tech note from DoctorLaptop: As we approach the end-of-life of Windows 10 on 14 Oct, 2025, many people are finding their current computers do not meet the minimum requirements to get the update to Windows 11. These people may be tempted to force the update using hacker tools freely available on the internet (RUFUS). This is not a good idea if you want a glitch free, reliable system. These forced updates from Win 10 to Win 11 can be detected by Microsoft. When they do detect a forced upgrade, they are already placing an annoying watermark onto the display informing you the upgrade is not legit, and in the future they may cut off your access to all updates, they could even block internet access, or freeze the display, should they chose to do so. For the tech savvy readers who may wish to pursue a forced update from Win 10 to Win 11, the info is here, but don’t say I didn’t warn you! https://www.wintips.org/create-a-windows-11-install-disk-for-unsupported-hardware-with-rufus/

These are the best wines from the province of Malaga in 2024: {Translation, summary}
– Malaga wines awarded by Sabor a Malaga 2024 are as follows.
– Best white wine from Malaga: Voladeros 2022.
The award this 2024 has gone to Voladeros 2022, from Bodegas Victoria Ordóñez e Hijos. This wine is 100% Pedro Ximenez, “it is the first Mountain Wine produced in Malaga since the end of the 19th century”, according to the winery: “The new project of the Victoria Ordonez winery recovers the production of the famous Mountain Wine with the most appreciated grapes of Pedro Ximenez in Malaga: those from the estates of the Natural Park Montes de Malaga”.
– Best Malaga red wine up to six months of aging: Lunares Tinto 2020.
The best red wine of Malaga up to six months of aging was for Lunares Tinto 2020, from Bodegas Lunares, composed of four varieties, Syrah (55%), Garnacha (20%), Merlot (15%) and Tempranillo (10%), where they give “total prominence to the fruit, always maintaining the freshness and where the wood is only a refinement”.
– Best Malaga red wine over six months: 7 Vin Blau 2021.
The award went to 7 Vin Blau 2021 from Bodegas Kieninger, a signature wine with German grape varieties on Malaga soil.
– Best sweet still wine: Ariyanas Naturally Sweet 2023.
The award for best sweet still wine went to Ariyanas Naturalmente Dulce 2023, from Bodegas Bentomiz, a Moscatel de Alejandría variety wine defined as “fresh and mineral”, while possessing a “perfectly balanced sweetness and acidity”.
– Best liqueur wine: Pajarete Quitapenas 2018.
The award went to Pajarete Quitapenas 2018, from Bodegas Quitapenas, with grape variety Pedro Ximénez (90%) and Moscatel de Alejandría (10%) that evokes “aromas of dried fruits (nuts, hazelnuts) with hints of raisins and candies” and to the taste reports “good acidity and balanced”.
– Honorable Mention: Piamater 2020 sweet still wine.
The jury has awarded a runner-up prize to the sweet still wine Piamater 2020, from Bodega Antonio Muñoz Cabrera of Dimobe. This wine achieves its sweetness thanks to the manual laying down “one by one the clusters in the sun on the racks for several days”, reducing their weight by about half of the starting point. HOLIDAY SEASON MUSIC VIDEOS
Still rockin’- As a singer turns 80, the Christmas song Brenda Lee sang as a teen is a holiday staple and #1 hit:
– Her memories of recording “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” are a little hazy. She remembers the producer placing decorations around the studio and blasting the air conditioner on a warm Nashville day to create a holiday spirit. The musicians, she recalls, nailed it in a couple of takes.
– That’s about it. After all, Brenda Lee was 13 years old at the time – and it was 66 years ago, in 1958.
– Somewhat implausibly, her celebration of a “Christmas party hop” is more popular today than ever before. It’s an unusual trajectory, even accounting for the fact that music listeners during the holiday season tend to embrace songs they’ve known for years. “Rockin’” eclipsed Mariah Carey’s perennial favorite “All I Want for Christmas is You” last December to top the Billboard music chart and make Lee, at age 78, the oldest woman to achieve that feat. Another record: Sixty-five years represented the longest interval between a record being released and making it to No. 1.
