ANNUAL HOLIDAY FUNDRAISER

 I can only produce DigameXtra with the financial support of my readers. Once a year, during the year end holidays, I do a fundraiser to help pay production expenses throughout the whole year. This year’s goal is to receive a donation from 4% of subscribers. The 4% Club finances DigameXtra for the 96% group that don’t donate. Which group will you belong to? The generosity of the 4% Club members is greatly appreciated.

Just like your morning coffee,
what would you do
without your morning DigameXtra?

– Holiday Donation Info, 2 Methods –
#1. You may drop cash donations off in person and say hello, by appointment, or place them in my mailbox beside my door anytime. Please be sure to include your name on the envelope- there are benefits to being on the DigameXtra Donor’s lists, such as not needing to open an issue every 2 weeks to maintain your posting privileges, but only if you donate at least €30. Due to health reasons, unannounced drop-ins are inconvenient for me. But if I am expecting you, no problem! My mailbox has the name HARRIS on it. Email me for map and directions. Cash donations are strongly preferred.
#2. Alternatively, you may send me an Amazon ES (Spain) “eGift card” by email. You need to have an Amazon.es account. The only info you need is my email address and your name (the sender’s name). Remember, this is an “eGift card” you buy that Amazon emails directly to me, don’t buy a plain “gift card”. Use the link provided below to access the “eGift card” purchase page.
PLEASE DO NOT SEND AMAZON UK eGIFT CARDS. NO BANK TRANSFERS OR PAYMENT APPS.
Here is the Amazon.es eGift Card Link, (NOTE: YOU CAN CHOOSE ANY AMOUNT YOU LIKE ON THE FORM, it is set at €50 by default):
https://www.amazon.es/Cheques-Regalo-Amazon-es-mail-Amazon/dp/B07SS5PFJK/
On the eGift card purchase form, enter the DigameXtra email as the recipient, as shown below in Spanish and with English translation.
Para/For : digamextra@protonmail.com

For those readers who cannot afford to make a holiday fundraiser donation: Referring friends to subscribe to DigameXtra is a good way for you to contribute to this project with no expense. Thank you.

Total Donations Received As Of Today: 95 (1.9%)

4% target = 200 donations

*********

30/12 FUNDRAISER UPDATE- Dear Readers: The Holiday Fundraiser only has 8 days remaining until I had planned to end it on 7 Jan. With the next donation we will reach 50% of the modest target, lagging slightly behind last year’s results at this time.

I don’t like to ask, you don’t like to be asked, so lets just get this unpleasantness finished up so we can move on. Or not…it’s all up to you! Huge thanks to all who have donated!

SPAIN

The end of the failed program that reduced VAT on food: {Translation, summary}
– The government’s measure to apply a reduced VAT of 2% on basic foodstuffs and 7.5% on other essential products is coming to an end. As of next January 1, prices will revert to “normal” VAT, posing a new challenge for consumers in a context of persistent inflation. Since its implementation at the end of 2022, the prices of the basic basket have not only not gone down, but have accumulated a rise of more than 9%, according to the latest analysis. The Canary Islands are experiencing another intense weekend of rescues with the arrival of at least 580 migrants: {Translation, summary}
– Since Christmas Day, more than 1,500 migrants have arrived on the islands.
– The Canary Route continues its huge flow at the end of the year. After rescuing more than 1,000 immigrants in more than a dozen boats since Christmas Day, in the last hours 580 people have arrived to the islands, among them at least 68 women and 16 minors, in eight precarious boats.
– As reported to Efe by sources of emergency and rescue teams, the last inflatable to make landfall has done so by their own means on the shores of Haría, Lanzarote, near the Jameos del Agua, where the emergency device has attended to 34 people, including five women and a baby. It is in Lanzarote where the largest number of arrivals of the day is concentrated, because since the early morning and throughout the day have arrived, in addition to the latter, five other inflatable boats with a total of 253 people on board. All of them would have left from Tan-Tan, Morocco, and would have sailed for two days.
– Shortly before, around three o’clock in the afternoon, a cayuco arrived by its own means in the area of Los Abrigos, in Tenerife, although there is still no information about the number of migrants on board.
– Around noon, Salvamento received in El Hierro an alert from the Guardia Civil, whose radar detected the echo of two boats in positions close to the port of Las Restinga, so it mobilized the salvamar Adhara and the salvamar Acrux and escorted them to the dock. In this intervention, 69 people, including a woman and a minor, all in apparent good health, were accounted for in the first cayuco. On arrival, this group said they had made a three-day crossing from Nouadhibou, Mauritania, and stated that their countries of origin were Mali and Guinea Bissau. The second cayuco was carrying 224 people, including 57 women and 14 minors, who had reportedly set off from Djiffer, Senegal, on an eight-day crossing. On board, the migrants claimed to be from Senegal, Gambia, Guinea Bissau, Guinea Conacrky, Ghana and Nigeria.
– The figures for this Saturday, in the absence of counting the cayuco in Tenerife, bring the arrivals since Christmas Eve to 1,541 people aboard 28 boats, in a year that has once again been a record with the arrival of some 46,000 people.
– The NGO Caminando Fronteras, which each year monitors with a report the deaths that occur in the various migratory routes to Spain, this week put at 9,757 people who died in the Atlantic Route trying to reach the Canary Islands in small boats or dugout canoes during 2024. ANDALUCÍA

Junta Resumes Its War On Illegal Homes Using Drones & Satellite Imaging To Detect Violators, Refers To Recent Trend Of Relaxed Enforcement As “Urban Indiscipline”: {Translation, summary}
– In August, the General Plan for Territorial and Urban Planning Inspection 2023-2026 was approved, which establishes the priority lines of action, focused on the control of irregular subdivisions on rural land, the protection of coastal areas and preserved soils.
– In addition, new technological tools have been incorporated, such as drones and software for the management of changes in the territory from satellite images.
– During 2024, the Junta de Andalucía has sealed almost 500 illegal plots for building on public land, 1,240 in the last 3 years, with the Cádiz area hardest hit.
– Thanks to these measures, Rocío Díaz has stated, it has been possible “to reverse the situation of urban indiscipline that we found in 2019”. As proof of this, she has highlighted that from 2018 until now the number of actions to ensure compliance with urban legality and the good use of the territory has tripled; the number of plots and buildings issued has been multiplied by 13 and the aforementioned 500 seals have been made compared to the absence of them, as she points out, in 2018.
– There are thousands of families who are faced with the problem of having a house built on rural land in Andalusia. These are not isolated farmhouses, nor second homes, but houses that they built decades ago, some in urbanizations. They are trapped between a complex urban planning legislation, changes in administrative powers and the threat of demolition.
– The Law to Promote the Sustainability of the Territory of Andalusia, known as LISTA, of 2021, included in the legal system for the first time the concept of territorial discipline and grants the Board direct jurisdiction to intervene against the most impactful infractions. In addition, it has introduced new tools such as AFO (Assimilated Out of Ordinance).
This is a certification that is not equivalent to full legalization. Recognition of the AFO status requires the processing of a municipal administrative procedure. Once resolved, buildings can have access to basic health services, sanitation, water supply and electricity supply if the corresponding infrastructure networks already existed, or resolve those services autonomously.
– But now, with the change of powers in the Junta de Andalucía, it seems that all homes on rural land have been demonized. Many of these houses were not built to get rich, but out of necessity. “What do we do with a family that has been living there for 20 years?” explains the president of the Federation of the Chiclana Outskirts, which brings together the Platform of People Affected by Regularization, various groups and more than twenty associations spread throughout the town. MALAGA PROVINCE

The Anímate programme – ‘Pets against Loneliness’ – a free service for seniors:
– This was launched on 1 October and has two objectives: there are 75,000 older people living alone in the province and at least 3,000 pets in centres, shelters and refuges. “We want to help solve both problems,” says José Santaolalla, the Diputación’s spokesperson for older people, who is leading this initiative in conjunction with the college of veterinary surgeons, animal shelters and animal health centres.
– The gateway for users to access this service is the “telephone number against loneliness”: 900 92 30 92, which is the same number that was in place during the pandemic and lockdown, and which is still in operation to assist older people in this situation. The contact is referred to the professional association, which carries out a very thorough assessment to check that they are suitable based on factors such as their physical and mobility abilities and where they live.
– Then the person is matched with an adult animal (puppies or kittens are not given), depending on their preferences and the adopter’s situation. The involvement of family members is also requested, so that they can look after the pet in case of illness or travel. Once accepted, the adoption form is filled in and, if necessary, the dog is even transported to the adopter’s home, so that the adopter does not have to travel, especially from remote villages.
– And all of this at no cost to the beneficiary: the microchip, the card, washing, deworming and documentation are paid for by the Diputación. They are also monitored afterwards, with regular phone calls, to see how the experience is going.

Up to 400 euros per child and 6,500 euros to buy a house- these are the towns in Malaga that can benefit from the tax deductions of the Junta de Andalucía: {Translation, summary}
– The Regional Government of Andalusia has implemented a series of tax incentives aimed at promoting the stabilization of the population in rural areas in order to combat depopulation. These measures offer important economic benefits for the residents of 426 Andalusian municipalities, mainly those with less than 3,000 inhabitants.
– One of the most outstanding advantages is the deduction of up to 400 euros for each child born or adopted, as well as for children in foster care.
– Another attraction for residents of these localities is the reduction of the transfer tax and documented legal acts (ITPAJD) when purchasing a home. Buyers can benefit from a reduced rate of 3.5%, significantly lower than the usual 8%. This benefit applies provided that the property is intended to be the habitual residence and that its value does not exceed 150,000 euros. In economic terms, this saving can reach up to 6,750 euros for the purchase of a house, which represents a considerable stimulus for those seeking to settle in these municipalities.
– Distribution of the benefited municipalities. The Official Gazette of the Junta de Andalucía (BOJA) includes the complete list of municipalities eligible for these benefits (link below). The provincial distribution includes:
Granada: 121 municipalities
Almería: 69 municipalities
Jaén: 56 municipalities
Malaga: 59 municipalities

TORROX

Torrox opens its first funeral home after a municipal investment of more than one million euros: {Translation, summary}
– After a municipal investment of more than one million euros, Torrox has its first funeral parlor, a facility that this Friday is launched and “with which a historical demand of the municipality is fulfilled”. The City Council has made in recent months all the necessary arrangements so residents will no longer have to travel to other towns for funerals.
– The morgue is located near the bus station of Torrox Costa. The management has been awarded to the company ASV Funeser for a value of 430,000 euros for a period of five years. Source, Spanish: https://www.malagahoy.es/provincia/torrox-abre-primer-tanatorio-inversion_0_2003053593.html

NERJA

The Plenary of Nerja approves a private company to manage waste collection, street cleaning and beach services: {Translation, summary}
– The Plenary of the Corporation of Nerja, held this Thursday, has finally approved, with the votes in favor of the PP and the vote against the PSOE, the justification report prepared by the Study Commission promoted by the Department of Municipal Services to determine the management model of waste collection services, street cleaning and beaches, dismissing in its entirety in turn the allegations made during the public exhibition period. That is, this will allow a private company to manage the services, once the bidding process is completed.
– “Next, we will proceed with the processing of the file and the drafting of the specifications that will govern the contracting of the service,” added the councilor, who also explained that this process will mark the next step. “Once the specifications are approved, the bidding process will be opened, which will select the company that will be responsible for the management of waste collection services, street cleaning and beaches,” said the councilor. VÉLEZ-MÁLAGA

Julio Anaya’s Christ of Love is vandalized in Velez- “No matter how many works they vandalize, I will not stop doing them”: {Translation, summary}
– New acts of vandalism in Velez-Malaga. The Christ of Love by Julio Anaya, an international artist from Malaga, has been vandalized by painting a swastika on his chest and with his face covered. It is the first time in a year and a half (time that the work has), that the figure appears vandalized. Previously, they made graffiti on the ruins of the place, but always respecting the work. The creator has reacted and confirmed that he will restore it when he can. “No matter how many of my works are destroyed, I will not stop doing them,” he added.
– In these ruins of the capital of Axarquia, between olive and carob trees, hides a work of art that few knew, but in just a year has become a benchmark. The artist Julio Anaya painted in 2023 a realistic portrait of the Christ of Love of Malaga. Now, it has been vandalized, but not for long. “As soon as I can I will restore the work,” said the young man, who is immense in projects. “I have just sent works to Japan, and I have a lot of activities, but I will surely return to the place in January,” he said.
– The artist has explained that he received a photo about what happened and that at first he hesitated whether to spread it on social networks or fix it on his own. “Out of respect for the brotherhood brothers, and the devout people, I did not want to give it much hype,” he has expressed. Thus, about the vandalism, he doubts whether “it is a joke in very bad taste, or it has been done by a person who wants to see the world burn, what is clear is that it has been done on purpose, by the symbol and the forms, it is certainly an act of excessive evil,” said the young man. FINANCIAL

The fiscal looting of the Sánchez era- each Spaniard pays almost 6,000 euros more in 2024 for taxes and contributions: {Translation, summary}
– Pedro Sánchez came to power claiming that he would put an end to corruption, that he would not agree to a government coallition with Podemos, that he would never give power to the separatists, that he would never pact with the pro-terrorists… and that he would never raise taxes on workers. All lies.
– Taxes, even without counting December, have meant an additional fiscal plunder for all Spaniards of almost 90,000 million euros more per year. And the contributions have increased by another 45,000 million. A whole heist that has meant an accumulated increase of between 5,500 and 6,000 euros in their tax bill with respect to the close of that 2018 in which the Sánchez era began.
– The calculation is made by counting all the national tax payments required of taxpayers from the technical point of view: taxes and contributions. The fiscal robbery is even greater if regional and local taxes are counted.
– Well, with all this, Sánchez has generated the greatest era of fiscal plundering experienced by Spain in recent times, surpassing the initial stage of the PP in which, under the command of Mariano Rajoy and Cristóbal Montoro in Treasury, they decided to face the risk of bailing out Spain -after the economic debacle of Rodríguez Zapatero- by raising more taxes and public debt instead of reducing public spending.
– Social Security and taxes. The data are chilling. Social Security closed 2018 with a collection paid by all Spanish workers and companies -employers- of 114,999.2 million euros. And the total national tax payment was 204,633 million. The Sánchez era arrived and with it came the fiscal plundering taken to its maximum expression: at the end of 2023, the Social Security was already taking from the pockets of companies and workers the figure of 154,633 million, marking annual increases at a rate of 10.3%. That is to say that, without counting 2024, still without official data, the fiscal increase for this concept reached at the end of 2023 an additional plundering of almost 40,000 million. The evolution of 2024 points to a closing that would raise this extra robbery to 45 billion.
– On the tax side, the bite to the pockets of Spaniards is even more bleeding. From those 204,633 million euros collected by national taxes at the close of 2018, it has gone to no less than 271,935 million at the end of 2023: more than 67,000 million additional euros. And the evolution of 2024 adds up, only until November another 21 billion euros of increased collection.
– The excuse of inflation. The Government always argues that inflation must be taken into account. Well, cumulative inflation has grown in the same period at less than half the rate of the exposed savagery. The cumulative CPI between December 2018 and November 2024 is at 19.2%. But, in addition, the explanation is literally esoteric: inflation takes away purchasing power from taxpayers, so it must be subtracted from, and not added to, the tax penalty because otherwise it does not tax increases in wealth but losses of wealth, a whole theoretical barbarity.
– In summary, if we calculate the fiscal plunder per taxpayer of the IRPF, the result shows an increase in 2024 with respect to 2018 of almost 6,000 euros per person. Almost 12,000 euros per household. And this, without taking into account the loss of purchasing power due to inflation. Welcome to the Sanchez era.
