Frigiliana, Almáchar, Competea and Periana host the ‘La Liebre de Marzo’ festival:
– The festival ‘La Liebre de Marzo’ (The March Hare) returns to bring sacred and ancient music to emblematic places of the Axarquia. The eleventh edition of the festival will be held on Saturdays 8, 15, 22 and 29 March with the Malaga Baroque Orchestra, the Con Fuoco Quartet, the Spinto Quartet and the Maestro Iribarren Music Chapel.
– All concerts will start at 12.30 p.m. and will be free admission until full capacity is reached.
– Frigiliana: 8 March. The festival will kick off in the Parish Church of San Antonio de Padua in Frigiliana with the Orquesta Barroca de Málaga {Video Link}.
– Almáchar: 15 March. The concerts will continue in the Parish Church of San Mateo Apostle of Almáchar, which on March 15 will receive the Con Fuoco Quartet and the harpsichordist Teresa García Molero in a concert dedicated to the ‘Travelers of the past’ with music by Father Soler and G.P. Telemann.
– Cómpeta: 22 March. The Church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción in Cómpeta will host the concert of Cuartero Spinto, formed by violinists Juan Jesús Navarro and Caridad Martos, violist Olga López and cellist Cristóbal Prieto.
– Periana: 29 March. The series will end on March 29 at the Church of San Isidro Labrador in Periana with the Capilla de Música Maestro Iribarren, a group named after Juan Francés de Iribarren, who was Chapel Master of the Cathedral of Malaga from 1733 until his death.

Headless body in a wetsuit washes up on Fuengirola beach:

EU leaders agree on defence surge, support Zelenskiy after US aid freeze; Polish PM Tusk announces EU in new “arms race”, claims EU could win war against Russia:
– European leaders on Thursday backed plans to spend more on defence and pledged to continue to stand by Ukraine in a world upended by Donald Trump’s reversal of U.S. policies.
– “Europe must take up this challenge, this arms race. And it must win it,” Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said at a special defence summit in Brussels. “Europe as a whole is truly capable of winning any military, financial, economic confrontation with Russia – we are simply stronger,” Tusk said.
– The EU leaders hailed the European Commission’s proposals this week to give them fiscal flexibility on defence spending, and to jointly borrow up to 150 billion euros ($160 billion) to lend to EU governments to spend on their militaries. In a joint statement agreed by all 27 member states, the leaders called on their governments to examine these proposals in detail urgently.
– The Brussels summit takes place against a backdrop of dramatic defence policy decisions driven by fears that Russia, emboldened by its war in Ukraine, may attack an EU country next and that Europe cannot rely on the U.S. to come to its aid.

The EU Paradox- Sending billions of euro in aid to Ukraine to fight Russia, yet EU continues to buy Russian fuels, and issues 25% more visas to Russians than last year? Latvia demands solutions:
– The number of Schengen visas issued to Russian passport holders in 2024 has increased by a quarter (25 per cent) compared to 2023 figures, revealing that Schengen states are increasingly issuing more visas to Russians. Italy issued the most, 30% of the total. This phenomenon is particularly concerning considering that in the last two years, there have been stringent measures applied to Russian nationals. At a meeting at the Council of Ministers of Justice and Home Affairs of the European Union in Brussels, the Schengen Barometer for 2024 was published and discussed. During this publication, it was revealed that 565,069 Schengen tourist visas were granted to Russian nationals.
– Latvia has called on the EU member states to stop issuing Schengen visas for Russian citizens. Putin warns Russia will choose ‘the version of peace’ that suits its interests: {Translation}

– The National Police have arrested five men in Cordoba and charged a sixth for their alleged involvement in this fraud.
– As reported by the National Police Force in a note, the investigation began in November 2024, when several pawn shops and coin vendors filed complaints. In all of them, those investigated told the sellers that they were gold, but later, those in charge of the establishments were able to verify exhaustively that the pieces only had gold on the outer coating.
– The fraudsters sold replicas of 15 gold coins for more than 24,000 euros. The agents determined that the 15 pieces were actually composed of gold veneer on their outer covering, camouflaging their true composition, given that the body or filling of the piece, which provides the greatest weight, was made up of other metals of little value. – They also mentioned the people that they claim US intelligence agencies assassinated including Gaddafi, MLK and Malcom X in addition to claims that’s the US is embracing a ‘golden age of imperialism’ with Elon Musk.
– “We will expropriate without compensation whether they (white Afrikaners) like it or not. If they object, they can seek refugee in America.”
