Your questions answered by Ruth from Compare Funerals Spain
– Why should I have a funeral plan? Having been funeral planning for over 10 year I’ve experienced some very sad and upset families when nothing is in place. A Spanish funeral plans will ensure that all costs are covered for your funeral service. Getting a prepaid plan will help you feel assured that your family will not be under any financial strain when it comes to paying for your funeral. A plan also means you can have peace of mind that everything has been organised in advance, so your loved ones do not have to make any difficult decisions.
– Why choose Compare Funerals? There seems to be a gap in Spain between independent funeral directors, offering plans at a good price but lacking the security of an established Trust or ability to cover a client overseas and Providers who seem to charge more than necessary. We want to be right in the middle and offer the best of both worlds. Our best-priced plan is only 2,250€ and does the essentials.
– Can I do a payment plan? All our plans are payable in full or over up to 5 years interest FREE. The interest free periods are based on initial deposit. The higher the deposit the less your monthly repayments will be.
– Can I transfer the plan? The answer is YES. You could name 2 people on one plan however if you had a friend/family member pass away we can transfer the plan into a 3rd party’s name.
– What happens if I move? All our plans offer the equivalent service in Spain (including the islands), Portugal, Republic of Ireland and the UK. If you moved to the UK, we would transfer the plan to one of our many partners at no extra cost to you.
– Is paperwork included? Yes, your family will receive a death certificate in Spanish and an international certification in English. We also provide a cremation certificate that allows the ashes on board a plane.

SPAIN
Sánchez’s Word Games- He seeks to “redefine” military spending so as to minimize any real, new defence expenditures, in an attempt to speed up compliance with international defence commitments: {Translation, summary}
– Pedro Sánchez’s goal of increasing defense spending is firm, but doing so is not an easy task, so Moncloa is now looking for alternative tools and routes to reach that 2% of GDP before 2029. To do so, the government is considering several ways, such as relaxing the fiscal rules as proposed by Brussels, direct aid in the style of the post-pandemic Next Generation funds or modifying the regulations that prevent European financial institutions from financing lethal weapons projects.
– But there is another domestic possibility that the PSOE is studying to speed it up: “redefining” the concept of what is understood as defense spending in order to “fatten it up”, which would involve identifying additional related items to those already contemplated.
– This is pointed out by sources of the Socialist Directorate, who assure that it is a task in which the President of the Government is engaged in the European Commission with the argument that this is not a “classic war” and that there are particularities in the threats of the southern border of Europe. In addition, this would allow not to depend so much on the approval of new Budgets which are already late and, for the moment, do not have the parliamentary support to go ahead.
– The second vice-president and leader of Sumar, Yolanda Díaz, already spoke of a “reordering” of the defence expenditure to avoid raising it, a matter that she will foreseeably relay to the President of the Government in the meeting they both hold this Tuesday. Source, Spanish: https://www.20minutos.es/noticia/5689710/0/sanchez-busca-redefinir-gasto-militar-para-no-depender-presupuestos-intentar-acelerar-los-compromisos-internacionales/

The fiasco of European Covid recovery funds, 77% of the big beneficiaries belong to the public sector: {Translation, summary}
– This is the reality of a Plan that always prioritized the public over the private. More than four years have passed since the Sanchez government began implementing the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR) financed with Next Generation EU funds. Every piece of information that comes to light reinforces the perception of deficiencies in the design, management and distribution, as well as in the efficiency of its use.
– This is the conclusion drawn from the analysis of the list of the 100 largest beneficiaries of PRTR funds, extracted from the CoFFEE system in February 2025. This report shows not only delays in the publication of the data (more than three months late), but also the concentration of the bulk of the funds in public entities and subsidiaries of multinationals. This delay placed us as the last EU country to update this information, reflecting, once again, the recurrent lack of transparency of the social-communist executive.
– This list includes what the European Commission considers to be the final recipient, that is, the last vehicle to receive funds under the recovery mechanism. Therefore, the list reflects the top 100 public and private entities that carry out investments financed with European Next Generation funds. According to the latest published data, the public sector has received 77.2% of the funds awarded to the top 100 beneficiaries. Of the almost 9,850 million euros distributed, 6,417 million went to public entities, 488 million to Autonomous Communities and Local Entities and another 695 million to different ministries, leaving only 21.29% for private companies.
– This distribution corresponds to the model of state interventionism promoted by the government of Pedro Sánchez, where most of the funds are directed to public administrations and agencies instead of encouraging the growth of the private sector.
– The private companies that have acceded to the select group of the 100 largest beneficiaries of the funds belong mainly to strategic and large sectors, such as the automotive industry (subsidiaries of Volkswagen, Renault, Mercedes Benz stand out) and railway consortiums. The plan has an awarding design that has favored FOREIGN companies to the detriment of the national productive fabric. Renewable energy projects, having nothing to do with the damages caused by Covid, also stand out, such as green hydrogen, where large projects led by Iberdrola, Repsol, Petronor or EDP benefit.

The judge adds embezzlement to the ‘Begoña Gómez case’ for the hiring of the advisor and already points the finger at Moncloa: {Translation, summary}
– Judge Juan Carlos Peinado {pic, right} expands his investigation and points directly to Moncloa and, in particular, to Félix Bolaños {pic, left}. The judge of the case against Begoña Gómez has opened a separate piece in this procedure to investigate whether the Presidency of the Government committed a crime of embezzlement of public funds in the hiring of María Cristina Álvarez Rodríguez as an advisor to Moncloa when in fact she dedicated herself for years to the day-to-day management of the Extraordinary Chair of Competitive Social Transformation (TSC) of Pedro Sánchez’s wife at the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) and to other tasks of assistance to the president’s wife in her academic career.
– Until now, the preliminary proceedings 1146/2024 in which Begoña Gómez is charged focused exclusively on the crimes of influence peddling, corruption in the private sector, misappropriation and professional intrusion.
– As judicial sources have revealed, it has been in the framework of this separate piece that has been opened this Monday in the 41st Court of Instruction of Madrid in which the Minister of Presidency, Justice and Relations with the Courts, Félix Bolaños, has been summoned on April 16 to testify as a witness. Judge Peinado, in the resolution in which he expands the investigation to embezzlement, hardly argues the reason for the interrogation, which only explains that it occurs “in view of the documentation provided and the statements made” in the proceedings. Nothing on the internet is ever fully deleted- Google and WhatsApp will provide access to the data the Attorney General deleted from his mobiles and accounts: {Translation, summary}
– The Central Operational Unit (UCO) of the Civil Guard has informed the Supreme Court that Google and WhatsApp have agreed to provide the data of the State Attorney General, Álvaro García Ortiz {pic}, in the framework of the investigations he directs against Ortiz for an alleged revelation of secrets against Alberto González Amador, the boyfriend of the president of the community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz.
– This measure was agreed after the Civil Guard informed the magistrate that they had found “zero messages” in the devices that were seized from García Ortiz during the search of his office. Afterwards, the UCO found that García Ortiz had changed his cell phone, as well as that he deleted his personal email and WhatsApp accounts.
– To try to recover such information, the judge asked WhatsApp LLC for the messages received and/or sent by the users, the backup copies of the chats and/or multimedia files available and associated with the users and the log or record of the communications made by the users, including the date, time, origin, destination and type of communication. WhatsApp has agreed to provide all this.
– Google Inc will provide the data stored in the various services and products linked to the accounts they provided: backup copies of the devices linked to the account, backup copies of third-party applications, backup copies of the chats and/or multimedia files available and associated to the user and log or record of the communications made by the user, including the date, time, origin, destination and type of communication.

Well known local resident Paco ‘El del molino’, 83 years old, disappears in Almogía- his house is found disturbed and with blood stains: {Translation}
– Authorities have launched a search to find 83-year-old Francisco Mayorga González, known as Paco ‘El del molino’, who disappeared in worrying circumstances this weekend in Almogía.

US resumes military aid and intelligence sharing as Ukraine says it is open to a 30-day ceasefire:
– The Trump administration lifted its suspension of military aid and intelligence sharing for Ukraine, and Kyiv signaled that it was open to a 30-day ceasefire in the war with Russia, pending Moscow’s agreement, American and Ukrainian officials said Tuesday following talks in Saudi Arabia.
– The administration’s decision marked a sharp shift from only a week ago, when it imposed the measures in an apparent effort to push Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to enter talks to end the war with invading Russian forces. The suspension of U.S. assistance came days after Zelenskyy and President Donald Trump argued about the conflict in a tense White House meeting. Federal judge orders China to pay Missouri $24 billion in COVID-19 dispute:
– A federal judge in Cape Girardeau has ordered Chinese defendants to pay Missouri over $24 billion after finding they hoarded personal protective equipment during the COVID-19 pandemic. Senior U.S. District Judge Stephen Limbaugh Jr. said in a 32-page order Friday that Missouri showed defendants, including the People’s Republic of China and the Chinese Communist Party, hoarded PPE (personal protective equipment), violating federal law against monopolization or attempted monopolization of trade.
– Limbaugh said the state’s evidence showed that defendants “engaged in monopolistic actions to hoard PPE through both the nationalization of U.S. factories and the direct hoarding of PPE manufactured or for sale in the United States.” At the same time, the judgment said, China misled the world about the dangers and scope of the COVID-19 pandemic to facilitate and extend the hoarding campaign. “Missouri has submitted substantial evidence … demonstrating that Missourians were forced to both pay higher prices for the limited PPE available and suffer the effects of PPE shortages,” Limbaugh said.
– A spokesperson for China’s U.S. Embassy slammed the lawsuit in a statement Friday and threatened “reciprocal countermeasures” if the country’s interests are harmed.
– In a statement Friday, current Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey, a Republican, called the decision a “landmark victory.” “China refused to show up to court, but that doesn’t mean they get away with causing untold suffering and economic devastation,” he said. “We intend to collect every penny by seizing Chinese-owned assets, including Missouri farmland.”
– Chinese-owned Smithfield Foods, a leading pork processer, owns an estimated 40,000 acres of Missouri farmland. Full article: https://americanmilitarynews.com/2025/03/federal-judge-orders-china-to-pay-missouri-24-billion-in-covid-19-dispute/

Dalai Lama says his successor to be born outside China:
– The Dalai Lama’s successor will be born outside China, the spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism says in a new book, raising the stakes in a dispute with Beijing over control of the Himalayan region he fled more than six decades ago. Tibetans worldwide want the institution of the Dalai Lama to continue after the 89-year-old’s death, he writes in “Voice for the Voiceless”, which was just released.
– He had previously said the line of spiritual leaders might end with him. His book marks the first time the Dalai Lama, 89, has specified that his successor would be born in the “free world”, which he describes as outside China. He has previously said only that he could reincarnate outside Tibet, possibly in India where he lives in exile.
– “Since the purpose of a reincarnation is to carry on the work of the predecessor, the new Dalai Lama will be born in the free world so that the traditional mission of the Dalai Lama – that is, to be the voice for universal compassion, the spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism, and the symbol of Tibet embodying the aspirations of the Tibetan people – will continue,” the Dalai Lama writes.
– The Dalai Lama is a political exile who has “no right to represent the Tibetan people at all,” said a spokesperson at China’s foreign ministry when asked about the book at a regular news conference in Beijing on Tuesday. Beijing insists it will choose his successor, but the Dalai Lama has said any successor named by China would not be respected.

US Market Fall: Dow Jones falls nearly 500 points Tuesday, 1400 points in 2 days; S&P 500 enters ‘correction territory’:
– The sell-off in US equities continued on Tuesday, as did the constant flip-flop in the country’s trade policy, which has rattled markets and consumer confidence alike in the recent past.
– The Dow Jones fell nearly 500 points on Tuesday, taking the two-day drop to 1,400 points. The S&P 500 fell 0.8%, while the Nasdaq was an outperformer by not falling as much, ending 0.2% lower. With Tuesday’s fall, S&P 500 has officially entered “correction territory”, meaning a drop of 10% from the peak.
– At the session’s low, the Dow was down 800 points but benchmarks recovered after President Donald Trump said that he does not see an economic recession in the US.
– “I don’t see it at all. I think this country’s going to boom,” Trump said at the White House. He added that markets “are going to go up and they’re going to go down. Bitcoin hacked with the first quantum attack in history, took just 320 seconds: {Translation}
– A group of scientists in China has reached an unprecedented milestone by using quantum computing to compromise the security of Bitcoin in just 320 seconds. This breakthrough has set off alarm bells about the vulnerability of cryptocurrencies in the face of emerging technologies.
– As Carlos López Iglesias, director of Ekade, explains in a post on his LinkedIn profile, the researchers used an 18-qubit quantum computer to break the elliptic curve digital signature algorithm (ECDSA), widely used in Bitcoin to guarantee the integrity and authenticity of transactions. This achievement suggests that, with the continued development of quantum computing, the private keys of Bitcoin wallets could be at risk, potentially allowing the theft of funds without the owners’ consent.
*Community reactions and preventative measures*
– The Bitcoin developer community has not remained indifferent. Various strategies are being discussed to shield the network against potential quantum attacks. Prominent among the proposals is the implementation of post-quantum cryptography algorithms, designed to resist the capabilities of quantum computers. These measures seek to ensure that, even with the advancement of this technology, Bitcoin’s security remains intact.
A CryptoNews article notes that Bitcoin developers are exploring ways to protect the network from the possibility of quantum attacks, including the adoption of new, more secure signature algorithms.
*Bitcoin’s future in the quantum era*
– While this experiment represents a significant breakthrough, it is crucial to note that the current capabilities of quantum computing are still under development. However, this event serves as a reminder of the need to adapt and evolve. The Bitcoin community and other cryptocurrencies must anticipate emerging threats and strengthen their security systems to ensure the trust and stability of the digital ecosystem in the future. Big Tech is well on it’s way to completing the IoT (Internet of Things). What’s next? The IoB (Internet of Bodies):
– If you have been following this topic of the IoT, this article will be of interest. This is a long article in English that goes deep into the subjects of IoT & IoB, but is not loaded with too much tech jargon. If you want to know what the 2030’s have in store for us, read this…and understand that this is only what the technocracy is making public. In their research labs they are already a decade or more ahead of what they let us know about. So, besides the Digital ID, the cashless payments, the location trackers, a social credit score system, monitoring all your communications/internet use, and making 5G ubiquitous, all this planned to be completed by 2030, now they want to log all your bodily functions in real time! See image below. These sensor readings will then be analysed by AI to determine mental states associated with the physical data- they’ll know when you are happy or sad, upset or focused, frustrated or satisfied. And then they will figure out how to use that to their advantage.
– The push for IoB is not meant to improve our health; it’s a way to conduct massive data collection and “hack” the human experience, as WEF’s Yuval Noah Harari has said. Once IoB devices become widespread, when you have come to rely on them, they can be used as tools of control- “smart” enough to capture your thoughts, emotions and feelings, and influence how you act (and what you buy). Strange days indeed!
