SPAIN
Sanchez’s partners predict World War III as they call for exit from NATO: {Translation}
– While the President of the Government is merely buying time with an empty speech on the European rearmament plan and the commitment with the European Commission to invest 2% of GDP in defense, his partners have reiterated, as expected, their opposition on the increase of military spending and the position that Spain should adopt in the Atlantic Alliance. This highlights, once again, the growing loneliness of the PSOE in the hemicycle on defense issues.
– “NATO is no longer relevant in terms of global security. It is obsolete, inoperative and useless. Let’s stop clinging to an organization that is already a zombie”, the parliamentary spokeswoman of Sumar (Communist), Verónica Barbero, has stated bluntly, aligning herself with the historic battle of Izquierda Unida. Her speech coincided with the declarations of Gabriel Rufián, leader of ERC (pro-Catalan independence, left-wing social democratic political party), who blamed NATO for “almost all the wars in the world in the last 80 years”.
– The government’s minority partner opposes increasing defense spending beyond 2% of GDP, defending “greater strategic autonomy” and stressing that what is crucial is to invest more efficiently. “Europe already has the second largest defense budget in the world. The question is not in the figures, but in the strategic vision and the political course,” Barbero insisted in his reply to the president.
– Podemos (far-left) has adopted, as usual, the most combative profile, accusing Pedro Sánchez of leading Spaniards towards World War III. “The risk that this conflict escalates exponentially and that you drag us into the Third World War is enormous,” the leader of Podemos, Ione Belarra, has stated bluntly.
– She warns of the danger posed by the rearmament plan and the change of course of Sanchez since he arrived at La Moncloa: “It is a shame what you have become,” Belarra concluded her speech. This alarm has also been endorsed by the Bildu (far-left) spokesperson, Mertxe Aizpurua, who has demanded not to accept without prior debate “the impositions of the EU”.
– The spokesman of the PNV (center-left Basque nationalism,
Christian democracy), Aitor Esteban, in his last plenary session after stepping down as a deputy to take up his organic responsibilities as president of the PNV, has maintained a more open position on the Defense plan, but has asked the President of the Government for “concrete answers”. ANDALUCÍA
The Board accuses the government of “hiding” more than 8,000 places for the reception of migrants in Andalusia: {Translation, summary}
– The Minister of Social Inclusion of the Junta de Andalucía, Loles López {pic}, has accused the Government of Pedro Sánchez on Thursday of practicing “lies and half-truths” on migration, alluding to the fact that the central Executive “has hidden the existence of 8,142 places for the reception of migrants in Andalusia”. In this regard, he explained that most migrants arriving in Spain have applied for international protection, a request that gives them the opportunity to stay in the resource where they are housed until the application is resolved.
– According to the data provided by the Government, in January 2025, in Andalusia there were 4,927 emergency places for the reception of migrants from the Canary Islands, including asylum seekers, with 91.3% occupancy. After requesting the number of people who have actually moved from the Canary Islands to Andalusia as asylum seekers, “the data provided a month later by the Government show that there are actually 13,069 places in the Andalusian community with an occupancy of 86.54%,” said Lopez in the parliamentary commission.
– “The Government has not only been hiding places,” continued the counselor, ‘but when asked for this same information about the rest of the autonomous communities, has thrown us a resounding no, so we do not know the real situation in other territories, such as Catalonia,’ taking into account, she concluded, that social services such as health or education are provided by the autonomous communities.”
– He also recalled that the spokeswoman of the Socialist group in the regional House, Maria Marquez, in the last session of control to the Andalusian Government, “said, without any blush, that the Executive had given 50 million to Andalusia for the management of unaccompanied migrant minors,” a statement that the counselor has branded as “categorically false”, since the amount received by Andalusia “is only 1.6 million”. European Union identifies two of the projected seven Andalusian projects to promote its mining independence strategy: {Translation, summary}
– Las Cruces, in Seville, and CirCular, in Huelva, are two of the seven mining projects chosen by the European Union in Spain to advance its strategy of self-sufficiency in the extraction, processing and recycling of raw materials. The two Andalusian projects, selected from among 170 candidates, will be boosted by Brussels through better financing and faster permitting. The ultimate goal is to reduce Europe’s dependence on other countries such as China in the field of mining and in obtaining raw materials.
– In addition, they will have a faster permitting process, under 27 months for extraction projects and 15 months for processing and recycling projects. This is a considerable reduction in times, which currently range from five to ten years. More Saber Rattling From EU Leaders- NATO chief in Warsaw says, “our response will be devastating if Russia attacks Poland”:
– If anyone were to make a miscalculation, thinking that they would be able to attack Poland without consequences or attack any other ally, our Alliance would respond forcefully.” Mark Rutte warned. NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte warned on Wednesday that its response to an attack on Poland or other members of the alliance by Russia would be ‘devastating.’
– Rutte gave the warning in a one-day visit to Warsaw as he also appealed for unity among European nations to scale up their armed forces and defence industries as the United States urges Europe to take care of its own security in the future. GASTRONOMIA
This is the huge new sushi buffet that everyone is talking about, for less than €20 euros: {Translation}
– In recent days, one of the latest openings in Malaga has gone very viral on social networks, a new sushi buffet with a modern and spectacular design that has caught the attention of many content creators. We are talking about Moe Sushi, a new Japanese restaurant that has opened its doors in the capital with a proposal that usually works very well in the city, although raising the stakes: a Japanese buffet with more than 300 different dishes, competitive prices and care to detail.
– Moe Sushi’s menu offers more than 300 different dishes, where sushi is the main protagonist. Diners can choose from nigiris, sashimi, creative rolls, makis and tempuras, as well as other typical Japanese dishes. Among the most outstanding specialties are the salmon crispy, the eel nigiris and the oshi kuro shake, three of the proposals most valued by customers. Moe Sushi has a large number of gluten-free dishes and offers detailed information to ensure food safety for its customers. The entire ordering process is managed conveniently and quickly from a tablet on each table, allowing you to choose and receive the dishes in minutes.
– Moe Sushi has opted for a modern place, with warm lighting and minimalist decor. Every detail is designed so that the experience is not only gastronomic, but also visual and sensory. The spaciousness of the establishment allows you to enjoy lunch and dinner in a relaxed atmosphere, perfect for families, groups of friends or couples. Located at Avenida de José Ortega y Gasset 283, in the district of Cruz del Humilladero, it is easily accessible from different parts of the city.
– Buffet prices and opening hours. Moe Sushi presents a price structure that varies depending on the day and time slot, as usual in this type of buffets. From Monday to Friday at noon, the price for adults is 17.90 euros, while the children’s menu (for children up to 1.30 meters tall) costs 11.90 euros. In the evenings, from Monday to Thursday, the price is 25.90 euros for adults and 13.90 euros for children. On Friday nights, weekends and holidays, the price is 27.90 euros per adult and 13.90 euros for the children’s menu. It should be noted that drinks and desserts are not included in these prices. Webb Space Telescope captures a star in the making and a galaxy far, far away:
– The Webb Space Telescope has captured a plume of gas and dust streaming from a star in the making, with a spiral galaxy as a stunning backdrop. The composite image makes it look as though the overflow of stellar material is the billowing contrail of a rocket on its way to the galaxy. NASA and the European Space Agency released the photo on Monday.
– The outflow is about 625 light-years from Earth in one of the closest star-forming regions of our Milky Way galaxy, according to NASA. A light-year is equivalent to almost 6 trillion miles.
– Launched in 2021 as the successor to the Hubble Space Telescope, Webb observed the scene in the infrared. NASA said in a statement it was “a lucky alignment” of the two unrelated objects. Veterinarians of Malaga protest against the law that limits the use of medicines- “endangers the life of animals”: {Translation, summary}
– At the beginning of the year, a new Royal Decree came into force that restricts the free use of antibiotic drugs by veterinarians at their own discretion, and now they are limited to prescriptions and prior use authorizations already stipulated by the State. A new measure that has not sat well at all in the guild, which has taken to the streets this Wednesday in Malaga to denounce that this regulation does not let them “act freely and endanger the animals,” according to Juan Antonio Luque, president of the College of Veterinarians of Malaga.
– Thus, veterinarians from all over the province were called to demonstrate against this measure and claim their clinical work as “health professionals that we are”. “The only thing this law does is to add bureaucracy, delay the application times of treatments and put our pets at risk. It puts political decisions before science and curtails veterinarians’ freedom to prescribe. Deaths are already occurring throughout Spain due to its application”, said Luque during the rally.
– “They don’t let us freely exercise a profession for which we have studied and trained for so long,” protested Ana López, a veterinarian from Malaga who attended the demonstration with her dog. “Having to notify each antibiotic that we administer before applying it slows down the processes and the suffering of the animals,” she explained.
– “A misinterpretation of a law that comes from Europe means that a disease that can be treated in time has to wait for simple bureaucracy, and can lead to the unnecessary death of an animal”, concluded the president of the Veterinary Association.
