Recommendation For Translator Rosie: We first asked Rosie to help us back in 2016, when my father moved over here. I needed support to translate documents and help with the many appointments we had, to apply for his health card, registering him at a centro de salud, TIE, disability badge, padron, etc. Rosie assisted us at every stage and was excellent at all the appointments. She was always punctual and professional and very well received by all the people we had to deal with.
Over the past nine years we have called on Rosie to help from attending important medical appointments, to going through the process of applying for a pension, to updating drivers licence, etc. We can without reservation recommend Rosie (Rosie’s Tel: 605450322).

Recommendation needed for garage mechanic to do car service:
Having been let down by our usual garage that we’ve been using for 20 years, and found it impossible to get other local garages interested in servicing a car we look after, I wonder if anyone in Digameland can recommend a reliable mechanic who can carry out a service for us? We’ve booked it in for its ITV in late April (which we were told was fully booked) and would like it serviced beforehand. Thank you, Paul, Torrox

Socialism is on the march- After initiating legislation in past months to take control of the free press with gov’t appointed “truth commissions”, Sanchez, who apparently plagiarized his college thesis, who’s wife controls university chairs without Masters degree of her own, makes move for State control of private universities: {Translation, summary}
– The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has advanced that the Government will approve on Tuesday in the Council of Ministers of urgency of the Royal Decree to “harden” the criteria for the creation of new universities. Sánchez has stressed that, “given the urgency of this issue,” they will carry out the hardening of the criteria to the Council of Ministers “for urgent processing with the objective that it can enter into force as soon as possible.”
– Therefore, the Government will strengthen the demands to ensure that universities “are quality projects” {Read: Socialist approved. -Ed.}, adding to the report of the General Conference of University Policy a mandatory evaluation report prepared by the ANCA or the equivalent autonomous agencies. This report, added Sánchez, will be binding on the process of creating new universities, “thus guaranteeing rigorous and independent control,” and a minimum critical mass of 4,500 students will be required in the first five years of operation. – The average price of electricity in the wholesale market rises sharply this Monday to 29.45 euros per megawatt hour (MWh) compared to 3.03 euros yesterday, Sunday, thus abandoning the minimums recorded this Sunday since June 1, 2024.
– According to data from the Iberian Electricity Market Operator (OMIE) collected by Servimedia, the 29.45 euros represent a decrease of 33.8% compared to a week ago and an even greater drop of 73.5% compared to the last day of February. Compared to a year ago, the evolution of the price of light changes sign, as on March 31, 2024 stood at 83 cents.

– How the electricity bill works. In addition to all these prices, there are fixed costs for the electricity consumer in the form of tolls, charges and system adjustments.
– The ‘pool’ does not exactly represent the final amount in the price of electricity for a consumer under the regulated tariff, since with the entry into 2024 a new method of calculating the PVPC was adopted, which incorporates a basket of prices in the medium and long term to avoid strong oscillations, without losing the short-term price references that encourage savings and efficient consumption. In this way, the proportion linked to the pool price will be progressively reduced to incorporate the references of the futures markets, so that these will represent 25% in 2024, 40% in 2025 and 55% from 2026 onwards. ANDALUCÍA

Andalusia’s reservoirs update: {Translation, summary}
– Recent storms and intense rainfall have significantly improved the water levels in Andalusia’s reservoirs, leading to the lifting of water restrictions in several areas. Despite surpassing 7,000 cubic hectometers in total storage, the average capacity remains below 60%. This marks a positive shift from previous years, particularly the dramatic lows of 2,073 cubic hectometers two years ago. However, the current levels are still far from the historical averages seen in years like 2009-2013.
– The Guadalquivir Basin’s reservoirs have exceeded 4,777 cubic hectometers, but a 25-year analysis shows a concerning downward trend since 2012. The current storage levels are the twelfth lowest in the past quarter-century, highlighting the impact of climate change. While the situation is better than in recent years, the irregularity of rainfall means some areas have not received sufficient replenishment.
– Of the 49 reservoirs in the Guadalquivir Basin, 22 are now full or above 90% capacity, necessitating water releases in provinces like Huelva, Seville, Jaén, and Córdoba. Basins managed by the Junta de Andalucía are also above the ten-year average, with the Tinto-Odiel-Piedras basin exceeding its average by ten points. However, despite these improvements, resources remain insufficient to fully eliminate irrigation restrictions. The General Regulation System is only at 49.2% capacity, indicating that water scarcity persists.
– Managing authorities caution that while the recent rainfall has been beneficial, it does not solve the underlying issues. The need for efficient water management and conservation remains critical to address the ongoing challenges posed by climate change and irregular rainfall patterns. Overall, while the current situation is an improvement, it emphasizes the importance of sustainable water practices to ensure long-term stability in Andalusia’s water resources. Impact of rainstorm in the field threatens broccoli, cauliflower, lettuce, strawberries, potatoes, watermelon and melon prices: {Translation, summary}
– Recent storms in Spain, including those named ‘Jana’, ‘Konrad’, ‘Laurence’, and ‘Martinho’, have brought significant rainfall, boosting water reserves to 71.19% by March 24. This has been beneficial for crops like cereals, vineyards, olives, and nuts, as well as livestock, particularly sheep, goats, and dairy cattle. However, the excessive moisture has negatively impacted certain crops such as broccoli, cauliflower, lettuce, strawberries in Huelva, potatoes, and notably melons and watermelons in regions like Almería.
– In areas like Murcia, over 5,000 hectares of lettuce, broccoli, and cauliflower were flooded, resulting in estimated losses of €10 million. The high humidity has led to the spread of diseases like botrytis and mildew, threatening the melon and watermelon crops during their critical pollination phase. Despite these challenges, there is optimism for a strong late-season harvest of melons and watermelons.
– The strawberry crop in Huelva was also severely affected, with increased humidity causing botrytis, despite higher prices. Over 200 hectares of greenhouses were damaged by wind.
– Farmers’ associations like COAG and Asaja are calling for better water management infrastructure and more flexible use of pesticides to combat pests and diseases exacerbated by extreme weather conditions. They criticize current restrictions and advocate for increased funding to address these issues.
– As for melon prices, the reduced early-season production due to weather conditions might lead to higher prices in the short term, but a strong late-season harvest could stabilize or even lower prices later in the year. Overall, the impact of these storms highlights the delicate balance between water availability and crop health in Spain’s agricultural sector. ALHAURÍN DE LA TORRE

Alhaurín de la Torre already has its bat nest-boxes to combat the pine processionary caterpillar: {Translation, summary}
– Alhaurín de la Torre already has its bat nesting boxes against caterpillars. The City Council, through the Department of the Environment, has initiated the placement of these boxes in different areas of the city as a pilot experience to combat the presence of the processionary caterpillar through a biological control. Bats are natural predators of the moths of the processionary caterpillar, since both have nocturnal habits, this favoring the reduction of the number of moths that will then deposit eggs in the needles of pine trees.
– According to the City Council, the initiative aims to reduce the population of the processionary caterpillar in its butterfly stage, which takes place between June and July, thanks to the control carried out by the bats themselves, which are also predators of mosquitoes. A benefit is also sought by reducing the population of other unpleasant insects and preventing their spread in areas with rich vegetation and wetlands.
– The area will install a total of 15 boxes in different areas of public pine forests of the municipality strategically, so that there will be three in the Pinar de Taralpe, three in the arroyo del Cura in Pinos de Alhaurín, three in the pine forest of Rio Manilva street and two in Rio Darro street in Los Manantiales, two in the space occupied by the headquarters of the Neighborhood Association of Pinos de Alhaurín; three in the pine forest of Manilva River Street and two in Darro River Street in Los Manantiales; two in the space occupied by the headquarters of the Association of Neighbors of Pinos de Alhaurín; and two in the Cura stream as it passes near the CEIP Maruja Mallo in Taralpe.

SALOBREÑA

66-year-old motorcyclist dies after crashing into a lamppost in Salobreña: {Translation}
– A 66-year-old motorcyclist has died in a traffic accident recorded late on Sunday March 30 in the Granada town of Salobreña, according to the 112, belonging to the Emergency Agency of Andalusia. The accident occurred on the road to La Caleta about 22.09 hours, when a witness found the victim crashed against a lamppost between La Guardia and La Azucarera. MIGRATION IN SPAIN

NO VACANCY- Andalusia informs the Government that in 2024 it cared for 2,615 migrant minors and is now “at the limit of occupancy”: {Translation, summary}
– The Department of Social Inclusion of Andalusia has informed the Government that in 2024 it attended a total of 2,615 unaccompanied migrant minors. To the other data required – the number of places available in Andalusia – the Andalusian Government has specified that the community has for “the entire system of child protection” 6,092 places (2,968 in residential care and 3,124 in foster care), “whether foreign minors or not”.
– This Monday is the deadline for the communities to send to the Government the number of migrant minors they attend and that will be key to determine the distribution of children and adolescents under the decree law fruit of the pact between Junts and the Executive to reform Article 35.
– The “effective” occupation of the 6,092 places in the system of protection of minors in Andalusia is 96.32%. Therefore, “Andalusia has its resources at the limit of occupation, having to be prepared to exercise its powers before the possible arrival of more unaccompanied foreign minors, and to ensure the protection of all minors who are declared in a situation of neglect,” said sources from the department of Minister of Social Inclusion, Loles Lopez {pic}. EUROPE

The EU plan to start WWIII revealed- send in EU troops to Ukraine, wait until they are killed, then accuse Russia of attacking the EU, justifying retaliation with direct NATO attacks on Russia:
– France and Britain will continue to forge ahead with plans to deploy troops in Ukraine to defend an eventual peace deal with Russia but only some other nations want to take part, French President Emmanuel Macron said Thursday after a summit of countries that have been mulling the proposal.
– The French leader said “several” nations other than France and Britain want to be part of the armed force but added, “It is not unanimous.” Paris and London say such a force would aim to secure any peace deal by dissuading Russia from attacking Ukraine again.
– “We do not need unanimity to achieve it,” Macron said. French and British military officials will work with Ukraine to determine where the contingents should be deployed and how many troops they’d need to be a credible deterrent, the French leader added.
“There will be a reassurance force with several European nations that will deploy,” he insisted.
– One reason why some European countries are balking at a potential deployment in Ukraine is because it’s unclear whether Trump would support such a contingent with air power and other military assistance. “This will require the engagement and support of the United States,” Starmer said. “That’s a discussion we’ve had with the president on many occasions.” Macron suggested they may have to do without U.S. backing. “You have to hope for the best, but prepare for the worst,” he said. “My hope is that the Americans will be on our side and that the Americans will support, even play an active role.”
– Greece publicly rejected sending troops. Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said those discussions were “somewhat divisive” and distracted from the goal of ending the war as soon as possible. Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni also reiterated that Rome won’t contribute troops to a possible military force to be deployed to Ukraine. She also underlined the importance of working with the U.S. on ending the conflict and called for the participation of an American delegation in the next coordination meeting. French courts join the EU globalist efforts to remove front-running right-wing candidates and interfere with elections as they did in Romania and Germany- French far-right leader Marine Le Pen declared guilty, is sentenced to four years in prison, with two years suspended & barred from seeking public office for embezzlement- despite judge admitting Le Pen and other co-defendants didn’t enrich themselves personally:
– A French court on Monday barred Marine Le Pen from seeking public office for five years, with immediate effect, for embezzlement, a hammer blow to the far-right leader’s presidential hopes and an earthquake for French politics.
– The court ruling was a political as well as a judicial temblor for France, hobbling one of the leading contenders to succeed President Emmanuel Macron at the end of his second and final term, scheduled to last into 2027. So broad were the political implications that even some of Le Pen’s political opponents reacted by saying that court had gone too far.
– Only an appeal ruling that overturns the ban on public office could restore her hopes of standing. But with the election just two years away, time is running out and there’s no guarantee that an appeals court would rule more favorably.
– The verdict was a resounding defeat for Le Pen’s party. The judge also handed down guilty verdicts for embezzling public funds to eight other current or former members of her party who, like her, previously served as European Parliament lawmakers. Also convicted were 12 other people who served as parliamentary aides for Le Pen and what is now the National Rally party, formerly the National Front.
– The judge said Le Pen had been at the heart of “a system” that her party used to siphon off EU parliament money. The judge said Le Pen and other co-defendants didn’t enrich themselves personally. But the ruling described the embezzlement as “a democratic bypass” that deceived the parliament and voters. Le Pen denied accusations she was at the head of the system meant to siphon off EU parliament money to benefit her party, which she led from 2011 to 2021. She argued instead that it was acceptable to adapt the work of the aides paid by the European Parliament to the needs of the lawmakers, including some political work related to the party.
– The court sentenced Le Pen to two years’ imprisonment under house arrest, but it was the political ramifications of ineligibility that dealt the biggest blow to her foreseeable political future. Le Pen and 24 other officials from the National Rally were accused of having used money intended for EU parliamentary aides to pay staff who worked for the party between 2004 and 2016, in violation of the 27-nation bloc’s regulations. Le Pen and her co-defendants denied wrongdoing. Full article: https://apnews.com/article/marine-le-pen-france-far-right-trial-verdict-f3da0614e9a6fc24c87eb33d5b873409

LE PEN SPEAKS OUT!
“If this isn’t a political decision, I don’t know what is!
Do you realize that tonight, millions of French people are outraged, outraged beyond belief, to see that in France, in the land of human rights, judges have put in place practices that were thought to be the preserve of authoritarian regimes?”
@MLP_officiel confirms she will appeal “as soon as possible.”

South Africa’s Highest Court Denies Bid To Have ‘Kill The Boer’ Declared Hate Speech:
– South Africa’s highest court denied on March 27 a bid to have the song “Kill the Boer” be deemed hateful speech.
– The application should be dismissed as it bears no reasonable prospects of success,” stated the order from the Constitutional Court. The case was brought by AfriForum, a South African nongovernmental organization representing white South Africans, who constitute 7 percent of the population and own 70 percent of the farmland. South Africa consists of 62 million people.
– “After this shocking court ruling, we see that this is no longer the case. We are seeing an increasing radical implementation of the Constitution. We see an increase in ideologically-driven judges,” said AfriForum CEO Kallie Kriel in a statement. “However, we are not going to become discouraged.”
– “Kill the Boer” is an apartheid-era song. Boers are white settlers of primarily Dutch descent who often pursued an agrarian living in what is now South Africa. The term “Boer” has been used to refer to white farmers in the country, and the lyrics of the “Kill the Boer” song mostly consist of the word “shoot.”
– Recitations of the chant often correlate with rising violence targeting white farmers, according to Ernst Roets, a South African political activist and executive director of the newly formed advocacy group Pioneer Initiative. “When the slogan, particularly is chanted at high-profile events, by a high-profile politician, there tends to be an increase, especially in the murders on the farms,” Roets told The Epoch Times on March 28.
