Your questions answered by Ruth from Compare Funerals Spain
– Why should I have a funeral plan? Having been funeral planning for over 10 year I’ve experienced some very sad and upset families when nothing is in place. A Spanish funeral plans will ensure that all costs are covered for your funeral service. Getting a prepaid plan will help you feel assured that your family will not be under any financial strain when it comes to paying for your funeral. A plan also means you can have peace of mind that everything has been organised in advance, so your loved ones do not have to make any difficult decisions.
– Why choose Compare Funerals? There seems to be a gap in Spain between independent funeral directors, offering plans at a good price but lacking the security of an established Trust or ability to cover a client overseas and Providers who seem to charge more than necessary. We want to be right in the middle and offer the best of both worlds. Our best-priced plan is only 2,250€ and does the essentials.
– Can I do a payment plan? All our plans are payable in full or over up to 5 years interest FREE. The interest free periods are based on initial deposit. The higher the deposit the less your monthly repayments will be.
– Can I transfer the plan? The answer is YES. You could name 2 people on one plan however if you had a friend/family member pass away we can transfer the plan into a 3rd party’s name.
– What happens if I move? All our plans offer the equivalent service in Spain (including the islands), Portugal, Republic of Ireland and the UK. If you moved to the UK, we would transfer the plan to one of our many partners at no extra cost to you.
– Is paperwork included? Yes, your family will receive a death certificate in Spanish and an international certification in English. We also provide a cremation certificate that allows the ashes on board a plane.

Sumar, IU and Podemos parties reprimand Albares for his support of Morocco’s autonomy plan for Sahara: {Translation}
– Sumar, Podemos and IU have criticized the Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, for supporting the autonomy plan for Western Sahara proposed by Morocco and his lack of transparency for meeting last week, in the middle of Holy Thursday, with his Moroccan counterpart, Nasser Burita. At a press conference on Monday, the general coordinator of Sumar, Lara Hernandez, has reprimanded the Foreign Minister for that meeting with the Moroccan government, which does not obey the necessary transparency that should be in the Executive, and has launched that the position of the PSOE does not represent the whole of the coalition government.
– In fact, he pointed out that there will be pressure on the socialist wing of the Executive in Congress, pointing out that it will be the plurinational parliamentary group that will agree on a response in the form of parliamentary initiatives to the summit between Albares and his Moroccan counterpart.
Hernandez has criticized that Albares met by “surprise” with the Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, in which both boasted of the relations between the two countries following the abandonment by the PSOE of Western Sahara, instead supporting the autonomy plan of Morocco.
– The general coordinator of Sumar said that her formation is a firm defender of all the “oppressed” peoples and are on the side of the Saharawis, defending their right to free self-determination which has a high consensus among the Spanish society. Moreover, she said that the defense of human rights is a “red line” in international politics and accused the PSOE of leaving the general consensus of support for the sovereignty of Western Sahara, failing to comply with the mandate of the UN. In this way, the leader of Sumar has insisted that the only valid position is the rejection of the autonomy plan for the former Spanish colony that Rabat postulates.
– Additionally, the secretary of Organization of IU, Eva García Sempere {pic}, has expressed the “firm repulsion” and “rejection” of the position of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, with his support to the “illegitimate” proposal of autonomy plan for Western Sahara, proposed by Rabat and that only responds to the “expansionist” interests of Morocco. She also explained that this autonomy plan was already a failure when it was presented in 2007, given that it is a “unilateral” proposal of Morocco and that it did not have the support of the Polisario Front, the legitimate representative of the Saharawi people. She also criticized the fact that the plan ignores the “UN mandates” and the recognition of the right to self-determination of the Saharawi people, who must freely choose their future through a referendum. “Morocco has no legal, political or even moral legitimacy to put forward its expansionist plan based on the symptomatic violation of human rights and the plundering of the resources of the Saharawi people”, she added.
– Therefore, she declared that the government “has to choose” whether it is with international law, the United Nations and the Saharawi people, or bets on those who suffocate a “brave” people, too often “forgotten and betrayed”. “The Saharawi people are not, and cannot be, a bargaining chip to improve relations with the Government of Morocco,” García Sempere concluded.
– For his part, the Secretary of Organization of Podemos, Pablo Fernandez, reiterated his criticism of the position of the PSOE on the Sahara and expressed the support of his formation to the right of self-determination of the Saharawi people. “The Spanish people have a debt with the Saharawi people and Spain and this government should work on this referendum of self-determination,” he said to regret the position of Foreign Affairs and the unilateral turn of the PSOE to support the position of Morocco. 14,500 people in Malaga province waiting for driving licence practical test, waits of 2 to 3 months after passing written test:
– According to calculations by the APAE provincial association of driving schools in Malaga, at the moment there are around 14,500 people in the province waiting to take the practical test to obtain their driving licence. The organisation estimates that it can take between two and three months from the time a student passes the theory test until they can take the practical test for the first time. Moreover, if the student does not pass the practical test the first time, they will have to wait between one and two months more before being able to take it again.
– The origin of this problem lies in the lack of traffic examiners – a limitation that affects the whole of Spain and especially areas where the population has grown a lot in recent years, such as Malaga. “This is a lifelong problem. In Malaga, we have the same examiners as ten years ago, despite the population growth that has taken place in that time and with the added bonus that then there were 16 tests a day and now there are 12, because of the way of examining has changed, with longer exams for better quality,” said the president of the employers’ association. TORROX

Several dozen dolphins put on a feeding display close to Torrox/Nerja shoreline:
– A large pod of dolphins, estimated to contain around thirty cetaceans, surprised bathers and walkers at midday this Monday who were on or passing by Wilches beaches, on the border between the Costa del Sol municipalities of Nerja and Torrox.
– Although it is not uncommon to see pods of dolphins near the coast of Malaga province, especially when out at sea sailing in boats, it is not so common to see them hunting and so very close to a beach, chasing a large shoal of fish, which they cornered against the shoreline, giving themselves a real ‘feast’, as SUR has been able to witness and record.
– Some of the fish being chased jumped out of the water, being picked up and returned to the sea by some of the eyewitnesses of this true spectacle that nature and the sea offered at around noon this Easter Monday. TECH & SOCIAL MEDIA

META (Fakebook, Instaspam & NutzApp) proudly announces the restart of user data collection for AI training in the EU, and how to opt out, the official announcement :
– Today, we’re announcing our plans to train AI at Meta using public content – like public posts and comments – shared by adults on our products in the EU. People’s interactions with Meta AI – like questions and queries – will also be used to train and improve our models. This training, which follows the successful launch of Meta AI in Europe last month, will better support millions of people and businesses in the EU by teaching AI at Meta to better understand and reflect their cultures, languages and history.
– Beginning this week, people based in the EU who use Meta’s platforms will start receiving notifications, in-app and via email, to explain the kind of data we’re going to start using, how this will improve AI at Meta and the overall user experience. These notifications will also include a link to a form where people can object to their data being used in this way at any time. We have made this objection form easy to find, read, and use, and we’ll honor all objection forms we have already received, as well as newly submitted ones.
– As we’ve previously mentioned, we do not use people’s private messages with friends and family to train our generative AI models. Additionally, public data from the accounts of people in the EU under the age of 18 is not being used for training purposes. Meta reverts to AI training on Facebook and Instagram posts despite legal pushback, industry analysts outraged :
– Tech giant Meta plans to restart training its AI on EU citizens’ social media posts, the company announced on Monday, claiming the European Data Protection Board (EDPB) has “affirmed” the legality of its approach. {This is false, META made some changes but these have not been officially accepted as compliance by any EU regulator. META just assumes their changes are good enough. Another case of them doing whatever they please, and then wait to see if trouble develops. If so, they pay the fine as a business expense and carry on as if nothing happened. -Ed.}
– Meta halted its AI rollout in June following “intense engagement” with the Irish Data Protection Commission (IDPC) and complaints filed with data privacy watchdogs, known as DPAs, all over Europe.
– The company recently launched text-only AI features in Europe, and, on Monday, announced a new opt-out mechanism which it claims legally allows Facebook and Instagram content to be used to train its AI models.
– Beginning this week, EU users will receive a notification “to explain the kind of data we’re going to start using,” which will link to an easy-to-find form allowing users to object to their data being used, Meta said in a blog post. “We welcome the opinion provided by the EDPB in December, which endorsed compliance in line with our original approach,” a Meta spokesperson {deceptively} told Euractiv.
– The referenced EDPB opinion says that AI training on personal data could potentially be legal under a flexible GDPR exception, which allows a data processor’s “legitimate interest” to trump a data subject’s rights not to have their data processed.
– The practice will be challenged by privacy activists. The NGO Noyb filed 11 complaints with Meta the last time they started training on user posts, and a Noyb spokesperson said the practice is still unlawful, citing the need for prior user consent. The spokesperson disputed Meta’s claims about the EDPB opinion. It “simply stated that if you follow the law, the processing of personal data is lawful. But “European users’ fundamental right to data protection overrides Meta’s ‘legitimate interest’ for this extremely broad processing activity,” they said. “We have already filed complaints against Meta for this unlawful processing, and will be following up with the supervisory authorities,” the Noyb spokesperson added. PETS

The first dog bakery opens in Malaga- ‘Dulces para Perros’: {Translation, summary}
– They have been open for just over a month, this curious and charming bakery dedicated exclusively to dogs: ‘Dulces para Perros’ (Sweets for Dogs). It is a unique bakery that breaks with the traditional idea of pet food, betting on a handmade pastry and designed so that our faithful friends can also enjoy a first class dining experience.
– Located at Avenida de los Guindos 29, local 18B, Dulces para Perros is a small but cozy store, decorated with care and designed so that both animals and people feel at ease from the first moment. Its window display may remind you of a traditional bakery. However, what is offered in its showcases is very different: they are sweets made especially for dogs, with natural ingredients, no additives, no gluten and no added sugars, cakes, cupcakes and sweets with flavor and without risks. One of the most striking elements in this bakery is the variety of products available, all handmade in-house. Among them are the canine cakes, with original flavors such as chicken with carrot or liver, carefully decorated with ingredients that are one hundred percent suitable for dogs. You can also find cupcakes, cookies and homemade sweets, designed to satisfy the palate of each animal.
– The elaboration of these products follows strict quality criteria: they do not contain salt, preservatives or sugars, and all the colorants used for decoration are of natural origin. In addition, it has been taken into account that each dog has its own food preferences, so the establishment offers tastings so that they can try before choosing their favorite treat.
– What about cats? Although Sweets for Dogs is mainly focused on dogs, cats also have their space in this unique business. For them, specific products have been designed, such as tuna cakes, also made with natural ingredients and without harmful components for their health.
– Another of the outstanding features of Sweets for Dogs is its personalized pastry service. If a pet’s birthday or special occasion approaches, the on-site team can prepare a custom cake, allowing owners to choose both the base and the filling and decoration of the cake. An option that makes this bakery an ideal place to celebrate important moments with four-legged companions.
