AXARQUÍA
The National Police acts in Velez-Malaga and Torrox in an operation to dismantle two gangs engaged in international drug trafficking: {Translation, summary}
– The investigation started in November 2023 against two independent criminal organizations in which 10 people have been arrested and 13 searches have been carried out in which three weapons have been seized – one of them war weapons, ammunition, bulletproof vests, tracking devices, 11 surveillance drones, FPV goggles (used to view feeds from drone cameras), 1765 marijuana plants, 600 kilos of cannabis buds.
– After identifying those responsible for the organization, it was possible to locate the points from which the drugs were supplied and sent abroad, typically Germany. In this phase, three people were arrested and remanded in custody, and three searches were carried out in homes and in several farms and premises in the towns of Vélez Málaga, Cártama and Torrox in Malaga, where 1,765 marijuana plants in different stages of growth and 600 kilos of cannabis buds were seized.
– These were highly sophisticated operations using GPS contraband trackers, drones with cameras, commercial and refrigeration trucks, 3D printers to make custom drone parts, and assorted computer devices. RINCÓN DE LA VICTORIA
Wounded, three children and two adults, when a car left a street in Rincón de la Victoria: {Translation}
– Three minors and two adults have been injured in a road exit this Sunday, May 18, in a street in Rincón de la Victoria (Málaga), as reported in a statement by the Andalusian emergency agency.
– At 12.40 hours, the 112 phone coordinated a notice in which help was requested because a car had left the road on Pepa Flores Street and there were people injured. From the Coordination Center, the Local Police and the Sanitary Emergency Center (CES) 061 were activated.
– Sources have confirmed to 112 that the accident has resulted in five injured people, of which three are children: two of ten years and a third of 12, while the other two are a 79-year-old woman and a man of 82. USA
Former President Biden has ‘aggressive’ prostate cancer that has spread to his bones:
– The diagnosis was revealed after doctors found a “small nodule” on Biden’s prostate that “necessitated further evaluation” during a physical exam earlier this month.
– The 82-year-old’s longtime physician, Dr. Kevin O’Connor deemed Biden “fit to serve” in February 2024 after the then-presumptive Democratic nominee underwent a routine examination at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. In July, after Biden dropped out of the presidential race, O’Connor told The Post that the former president’s health was “excellent.”
– News of his diagnosis comes amid a firestorm of allegations that the erstwhile Biden administration and members of his inner circle knowingly hid his physical and cognitive decline from the American public.
– Biden’s cancer diagnosis came just two days after Axios released bombshell audio from a series of interviews the former president held with special counsel Robert Hur in October 2023, pursuant to an investigation into classified documents he improperly had in his possession. In the recordings — which the White House vehemently refused to release last year as rumors of his failing mental acuity swirled — Biden at times slurred his speech and couldn’t remember details about his own life including when his term as vice president ended, when his son Beau died, and what year President Trump was elected.
– Prostate cancer is the most common form of cancer among men in the US, according to the American Cancer Society. It affects approximately 80% of men in their 80s, the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders in Dallas estimates.

MIDDLE EAST
Trump’s Gulf tour reshapes Middle East diplomatic map:
– Nothing captured Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s isolation more starkly this week than the image of U.S. President Donald Trump shaking hands with Syria’s Islamist leader Ahmed al Sharaa – a man Israel has branded “an al Qaeda terrorist in a suit.”
– “He’s got the potential. He’s a real leader,” Trump told reporters after talks with Sharaa on Wednesday in Riyadh – a meeting brokered by his Saudi hosts, with whom the U.S. president agreed a slew of arms, business and technology deals.
– Trump’s whirlwind four-day tour of Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates this week was more than just a diplomatic spectacle marked by lucrative investments.
It sealed the emergence of a new Sunni-led Middle East order – one that eclipses Iran’s shattered ‘axis of resistance’, and leaves Israel sidelined, according to three regional and two Western sources.
– Amid growing irritation in Washington with Israel’s failure to reach a ceasefire in Gaza, Trump’s tour was a snub to Netanyahu, a close U.S. ally who was the first foreign leader to visit Washington after the president returned to office in January, the sources said. The message was clear: in Trump’s less ideological, more results-driven vision of Middle East diplomacy, Netanyahu could no longer count on unconditional U.S. support for his right-wing agenda, the sources said. Israel starts Gaza ground assault after hundreds killed, no progress in talks:
– The Israeli military said on Sunday it had begun “extensive ground operations” in northern and southern Gaza, stepping up its campaign in the enclave, where Palestinian health officials said Israeli strikes killed at least 130 people overnight (Saturday night into Sunday morning).
– Israel made its announcement after sources on both sides said there had been no progress in a new round of indirect talks between Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas in Qatar.
– Israel’s military said it had conducted a preliminary wave of strikes on more than 670 Hamas targets in Gaza over the past week to support “Gideon’s Chariots”, its new ground operation aimed at achieving “operational control” in parts of the enclave. It said it killed dozens of Hamas fighters.
– Gaza’s Health Ministry said in the week to Sunday alone, at least 464 Palestinians were killed. The deaths of 130 or so Palestinians overnight are in addition to that figure. Houthis Again Target Israel’s International Airport With Ballistic Missile:
– A ballistic missile (ICBM) launched at Israel by the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen was successfully intercepted by air defences, the military said early Sunday morning. There were no reports of direct injuries or damage in the attack.
– Sirens had sounded across central Israel, including in Tel Aviv, and the Shfela and Sharon regions, sending nearly a million residents scrambling to bomb shelters. Preceding the sirens by some five minutes, an early warning was issued to residents, alerting civilians of the long-range missile attack via a push notification on their phones.
– Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree later said the group targeted Beuion Airport near Tel Aviv with two ballistic missiles, vowing to carry on with the strikes until the “siege
is lifted” on Gaza, where Israel has been fighting a 19-month war against Hamas.
– The Israel Defence Forces said air defences successfully intercepted a missile at around 2 a.m. The reason for the discrepancy in the number of missiles was unclear, but suggested that one had fallen short. (See following article)
– Video shared on social media purported to show the interception. Full article: https://www.timesofisrael.com/idf-downs-missile-from-yemen-houthis-claim-to-target-ben-gurion-airport/ & X Link

RECALLS
Cosmetic product used to correct complications in hyaluronic acid fillers recalled in Spain:
– The Spanish medicines agency (Aemps) has denounced the company Proteos Biotech for manufacturing and marketing several products “for improper uses and by non-permitted routes of administration”. The products concerned are HA Corrector, Pbserum Enzymatic Solution and Pbserum HA. Although they are mainly distributed in clinics and their administering requires professionals, Aemps has not ruled out the possibility that they have been purchased outside official paths.
– HA Corrector products are marketed as cosmetic products. However, according to Aemps, the company advertises them as products for application through injection for the correction of complications arising from hyaluronic acid fillers. “Such purpose and application are not permitted in cosmetic products,” Aemps says. In addition, Proteos Biotech promotes the joint use, through mixing and injection, of Pbserum Enzymatic Solution cosmetic products and Pbserum HA medical devices. This application is also not permitted for cosmetic products. Furthermore, the safety, quality and efficacy of the medical devices have not been proven for joint application with an aesthetic indication.
– Aemps has adopted precautionary measures and has ordered that these products are withdrawn from the market. The agency has recommended that buyers return their purchases to the company from which they bought them. It has also requested the cessation of marketing and withdrawal of the above-mentioned medical devices. Trouble getting warranty repairs for Garmin watches? You are not alone, but there is a cure: {Translation}
– He decided on a watch model Fénix 7x Solar version of the Garmin brand, but not only that, he opted for the version of this product with sapphire crystal because this material is very resistant to shocks, scratches and scratches. He did not mind that the final price was increased by 100 euros for this reason and that he had to pay 848.24 euros.
– Two years after acquiring it, he discovered a scratch on the crystal of the watch that crossed practically the entire left side. It was a flaw that could only be seen from a certain perspective and light conditions, so he did not know how long it had been like that, says Facua-Consumers in Action (Facua-Consumidores en Acción), who took charge of the claim.
– At first, the customer turned to the firm Garmin to inform him of the damage suffered by the watch crystal, since the product was under warranty. He demanded a solution from the brand, either the repair, the replacement of the watch or the reimbursement of the money, especially since the advertising of the watch specified that it was “scratch resistant”. He even made test videos with another watch, also with a sapphire crystal, where it was found that it did not suffer any damage after being hit or even after trying to scratch it with a cutter. This led the customer to suspect that either “the model sold to him by Garmin was not really sapphire, or the crystal was defective,” Facua points out.
– Sapphire is the second hardest material after diamond and can only be scratched by it, a circumstance that the affected party claimed had not occurred, nor had he done any sporting or risky activity with the watch on, although this device was indicated in its advertising as suitable for it.
– Garmin responded to the customer and only gave him one possible solution: to pay 258 euros for the repair of the watch since, according to the company, the scratch was not covered by any warranty or courtesy – without giving any explanation of the reason, Facua points out.
– That was when the customer contacted Facua to process the claim. The consumer association’s legal team then approached Garmin on behalf of the affected party to demand that it enforce the watch’s warranty and apply one of the following solutions: repair at no additional cost, replacement of the watch with another of the same model or one of similar cost, or reimbursement of the 848 euros in the event that the previous two were impossible.
– Garmin then contacted the customer to inform him that they would come to pick up the watch to assess its possible repair. Finally, as this was not possible, the company delivered to the user another Fenix 7x Solar Sapphire version watch, with the crystal in perfect condition and without defects.

Open in Malaga the first store specialized in homemade foods for dogs: {Translation, summary}
– “Dulces para Perros” has opened in a small shop on Avenida de Los Guindos, in the Santa Paula area, and its owners claim that it is the first bakery for dogs in Malaga.
– The place has a small kitchen where all the ‘sweets’ are made (although none of them have salt, sugar or preservatives). The counter, in fact, is designed so that the animals themselves can choose the one they like best. For this purpose, there is a door at ground level on the side where small pieces of all the preparations are placed for tasting so that the owner does not have to choose for the dog.
– Among its specialties is a chicken pie made with spinach, carrots, eggs, oat flakes, cheese, potatoes and beets and a liver pie that also has chicken heart, eggs, apple, oat flakes, potatoes, spinach and blueberries. The portions cost 2.50 euros each. They also have different ‘snacks’ of liver or banana from 0.20 euros.
– Regarding the meals they prepare, they are all made with fresh food and that each of them has different properties, and are even recommended for one type of dog or another. “The one with chicken liver and heart is very good for puppies that tend to have soft poop; the one with chicken and carrot is very good for small dogs,” she says.
– The owners also offer their doggy customers custom-made cakes for special occasions, be it birthdays or any other celebration. They have four sizes, depending on the type of animal, and can be personalized with the name, age or any other message. The simplest is 600 grams and costs 20 euros. They also have some homemade cat food, although it is not their specialty.
