Celebrations in the Province:
– The Flamenco Biennial arrives this Saturday to the Villa de Nerja Theater, where you can enjoy the show De mi soleá, featuring Luisa Chicano. Meanwhile, Riogordo celebrates the 24th edition of Snail Day this Sunday, expecting more than 5,000 visitors and offering a wide range of activities centred around snails, with 500 kilos available for tasting.

Health Ministry Plans New Smoking/Vaping Laws Following EU Guidelines: {Translation, summary}

Another home invasion- Five hooded men with knives assault a house in Cerrado de Calderon, three women are tied up and gagged: {Translation}
– The State Security Forces and Corps are investigating a violent assault on a house in the Cerrado de Calderón “gated” neighbourhood in Málaga city this Tuesday. At least five hooded men armed with large knives allegedly gagged and tied up the homeowner, her 18-year-old daughter, and the housekeeper in order to rob them.
– The incident occurred early in the morning when the assailants, with their faces covered and carrying large knives, reportedly gained access to the property through the garage and immobilised the victims in different rooms.
– According to sources close to the case who spoke to this newspaper, they tied them up with cable ties and gagged them for approximately two hours, during which time they searched the house to seize the loot: cash, watches, and jewellery, although the value of the stolen items has not been disclosed.

Local police arrest individual who sowed the panic with a knife after a confrontation with some waiters for refusing to pay the account: {Translation}

Vox joins community groups to demand an urgent solution to the dumping of untreated wastewater in the rivers Cajiz and Macharaviaya: {Translation}
– The vast area of the Vélez-Málaga municipality, covering 158 square kilometres, and the wide dispersion of its population mean that some settlements still lack comprehensive sewage systems. The spokesperson for the Vox municipal group in opposition, Javier Herreros, denounced on Thursday the “serious structural deficiencies” in wastewater sanitation, citing as clear examples the problems in areas such as Cajiz-Las Puertas and Los Íberos, where there is no adequate water treatment system.
– “The lack of proper water treatment causes uncontrolled discharges directly into natural watercourses,” Herreros warned in a statement. “The Cajiz stream and the Los Íberos stream (Macharaviaya river) directly suffer these discharges, causing serious environmental damage,” he added.
– The Vox councillor in Vélez-Málaga has called for a “definitive and urgent solution” to eliminate sources of faecal contamination, bad odours, the proliferation of insects and rodents, and the severe deterioration of water quality and the natural environment. Connecting these scattered settlements to an integrated sewage system is “a longstanding demand” of the residents.
– Furthermore, Herreros recalled that Andalusian environmental legislation “requires the existence of adequate treatment infrastructure in all population centres, regardless of their size.” “Residents have lodged complaints with Vélez-Málaga Town Hall on multiple occasions, and as these are rural areas with smaller populations and less political weight, public investment does not reach them,” Herreros denounced, making it clear that the residents only want their right to live in a “clean and healthy” environment.

They investigate a man “with Diogenes Syndrome” in relation to the fire of the catwalk between Torre de Benagalbón and Chilches: {Translation, summary}
– National Police officers have identified and taken a statement from a middle-aged man for his alleged involvement in the fire that partially destroyed the pedestrian bridge over the Santillán stream in Los Rubios on Tuesday. This section of the Senda Litoral connects the municipalities of Rincón de la Victoria and Vélez-Málaga through the Torre de Benagalbón and Chilches areas.
– The investigation focuses on a man who “has Diogenes syndrome” and was “living under the bridge,” according to Vélez-Málaga’s Infrastructure Councillor. The National Police are trying to determine whether this person may have lit a small stove to cook, and accidentally caused the fire to spread due to the accumulation of rubbish, clothing, cardboard, and other belongings in the stream bed. The fire spread to a reed bed area and burned half of the pedestrian bridge on the Senda Litoral. Two electrical junction boxes were also destroyed.
– Jesús María Claros stated that they are already working to “repair the damage as soon as possible” and hope to receive assistance from the Málaga Provincial Council, which funded the Senda Litoral project. – A citizen has called the emergency telephone at 10:20 hours to ask for help for a precipitated vehicle in an area near the river Algarrobo. The Provincial Consortium Firefighters, members of the Health Emergency Center (CES) 061 and the Civil Guard Traffic responded.
– The emergency services of the Andalusian Health Service arrived on the scene with a helicopter, but have only been able to certify the death of the occupant of the wrecked vehicle. Where to eat in Sedella: {Translation, summary}
– Sedella is in the foothills of the Sierra de Tejeda, at the foot of La Maroma. From this village you can start the most demanding route to the famous peaks of these mountains, the highest in the province of Malaga. At the same time, its elevated location allows panoramic views of the sea. It is even a good option to approach the hanging bridge of Saltillo. Today it is one of the villages most identified with the natural park of the Sierras de Tejeda, Almijara and Alhama. There is the visitor center where you can go for more information.
– El Chiringuito. You can order either a tapa or a portion of tripe (callos) with the cook’s grandmother’s recipe or a French-style venison civet. The menu varies daily, although there are some dishes that are frequently available. Among the most traditional are the maimones soups, a humble dish that here is enriched with Iberian ham from the Sierra de Huelva, truffle, egg yolk, and boletus mushrooms. The lettuce soup with smoked sardines or the Iberian pork shoulder with sobrasada sauce, which bear the chef-owner’s seal, rival with dishes as deeply rooted as the fennel stew.

– La Cantina de Cissi. From tripe (callos) to pintarroja broth with clams. In this establishment, which usually only closes on Mondays, you can find a variety of tapas and small sandwiches. Crests (the fleshy combs on a chicken’s head, considered a delicacy in some Spanish dishes), marinated pork loin, choricillos (small chorizo sausages), pork fillets, or skewers (pork or chicken) are some of the regulars.
