Trump announces 30% tariffs for EU. Now Sanchez, who was the only holdout in the EU defence spending debacle, wants EU protection from tariffs: {Translation, summary}
– The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has just reacted to the letter that his US counterpart, Donald Trump, sent this Saturday to the European Union , announcing tariffs of 30% for the region from the 20% proposed on April 2, when the trade war broke out.
– “Economic openness and trade create prosperity. Unjustified tariffs destroy it,” Sánchez said through his social network X, making it clear that now he sees unity as key to face the period of negotiations that is coming until August 1, the deadline that the White House has given in its unusual trade policy to seek agreements with its partners.
– “We support and will support the Commission in its negotiations to reach an agreement with the US before 1 August. Together, we Europeans constitute the largest trading bloc in the world. Let’s use that strength to reach a fair agreement,” said the President of the Government. {So now Sanchez wants to play nice with the EU after refusing to cooperate on defence? His audacity is stunning. -Ed.}

Green Agenda Failing In Spain- Almost half of all cars on the road in Spain are more than 15 years old:
– 100% electric vehicles represent only 0.87% of the current total number of cars and SUVs on Spanish roads, according to the latest data.
– Hybrid vehicles account for 7.6% of the total.
– “The adoption of electric engines is still conditioned by factors such as price, charging infrastructure and autonomy,” said ANCERA general secretary Carlos Martín. “Today, 99% of the vehicle fleet still runs on internal combustion engines, which forces us to continue working toward a realistic, gradual transition,” he adds.

MALAGA PROVINCE
Malaga Suffers Series Of Fires This Weekend: {Translation, summary}
– The province of Málaga has returned to normal following a series of fires over the weekend, with all major incidents now extinguished. The fire in Villanueva de la Concepción, which began on Friday afternoon amid strong winds and affected diverse vegetation, was brought under control after twenty-five hours thanks to the efforts of firefighters and aerial resources, despite challenging conditions.
– Another significant fire in the Mijas Golf area was stabilised within an hour of its outbreak early Sunday morning, with crews continuing to secure the site.
– Additional fires in Álora, Casares, and Moclinejo, which occurred between Friday and Saturday, were also extinguished and ultimately classified as urban, not forest, incidents. Notably, a fire at a waste facility in Casares spread quickly due to high winds but was contained within the landfill perimeter, allowing normal operations to resume. The effective response of emergency services has ensured the safety of the affected areas. MALAGA CITY
Local economy loses billion euro opportunity- Malaga will no longer be a 2030 World Cup host city after football stadium project collapses- local fans & businesses denounce gross mismanagement for loss of fabulous opportunity and waste of funds already invested:
– Malaga has officially withdrawn from its role as a host city for the 2030 FIFA World Cup after local and regional institutions admitted to a total breakdown in the management of stadium redevelopment plans.
– Mayor Francisco de la Torre {pic} confirmed the decision in a press conference on Saturday morning, joined by representatives from the Junta de Andalucía and the Diputación Provincial, although neither made any statements.
– The announcement ends years of preparation to bring the World Cup to the Costa del Sol and has been described locally as a historic failure.
– Plans to expand La Rosaleda and create an alternative venue for Malaga CF during the works had stalled, with no viable solutions found. Despite efforts to compare progress with other candidate cities such as Zaragoza, where a modular stadium was built in 100 days, Malaga consistently fell behind.
– De la Torre also confirmed a commitment from stakeholders to eventually build a new stadium either at La Rosaleda or another location, but admitted that the World Cup opportunity had been missed due to time pressures, mobility challenges and institutional delays.
– Sources close to the city’s planning process cited repeated obstacles, including unresolved issues with the city’s athletics stadium and a failure to secure necessary urban planning licences. The mayor said mobility reports required for those permits would only arrive months from now, making it impossible to meet FIFA’s deadlines.
– The move leaves Valencia, where construction of a long-delayed new stadium is already under way, as the likely replacement for Malaga.
– De la Torre insisted that the city’s reputation remains intact despite back-to-back failures, including the recent disappointment of not hosting the World Expo. He even claimed “This doesn’t damage the city’s image. It’s a tough piece of news that will pass quickly. We’ve acted with responsibility,” adding that he had already informed the president of the Spanish Football Federation, who praised the city’s honesty.
– In a remarkable display of dishonest political story-spin, Arturo Bernal, Minister of Tourism of the Junta de Andalucía, described the decision of “an exercise of responsibility.”
– Despite De la Torre’s insistence that this is not a defeat, the decision has sparked criticism from residents and football fans alike. Many see it as a missed opportunity not only for the club but for the city and province as a whole.
– With Malaga now ruled out, organisers are left with the task of reshuffling Spain’s proposed venues for the tournament, which will be co-hosted with Portugal and Morocco. Full article: https://www.surinenglish.com/sport/malaga-will-longer-2030-world-cup-host-20250712135900-nt.html

UPDATE- PSOE describes as “fraud” the decision that Málaga is not the headquarters of the World Cup: {Translation}
– Daniel Pérez, Socialist spokesman in Málaga’s City Council, has fiercely condemned Mayor Francisco de la Torre’s official withdrawal of Málaga as a 2030 World Cup host city, calling it a political fraud and betrayal. Pérez accused the mayor of misleading the public with empty promises and concealing vital information about the provisional stadium’s viability. He stressed that the mayor’s refusal to remodel the stadium was not due to technical constraints but rather a lack of foresight and political will
– Pérez reminded that hosting the World Cup was a key electoral pledge by De la Torre and the Popular Party, now revealed as hollow rhetoric. He lamented the loss of a historic chance for Málaga to gain international recognition, investment, and improved infrastructure. Pérez demanded an urgent council meeting for the mayor to explain his actions and called upon civil society to reject dishonesty and demand accountability for the missed opportunity and breach of trust. Infoca completes work on a fire that broke out early this morning in Mijas Golf: {Translation}
– The Infoca Plan fought through the night and into the morning of Sunday against a fire that broke out in the Mijas Golf area of Malaga, which has finally been extinguished.
– Nine groups of forest firefighters, an operations technician, an environmental agent and five fire engines were mobilised to tackle the fire, which was reported by Infoca at 00.40. In addition, the service reported that the Mijas Fire Department and the Provincial Fire Department Consortium were collaborating in the operation.
– After reporting that the fire had been stabilised at 1.30 a.m. and brought under control at 7.45 a.m., Infoca explained that the operation had been scaled down to extinguish the fire with a group of forest firefighters, an environmental agent and a fire engine, a goal that was achieved at 10.35 a.m. on Sunday. MURCIA
Street Battles Between Migrants and Natives After Elderly Man Allegedly Beaten by Moroccan Youths in Andalucia’s neighbouring autonomous community:
– Open combat between native Spaniards and migrant groups broke out over the past two evenings in the Torre-Pacheco municipality following a group of young Moroccan males allegedly beating an elderly man in the area. Roaming bands of migrants clashed with nationalist anti-mass migration groups in the Murcian municipality of Torre-Pacheco on Friday and Saturday evening, in what has been described as a “spiral of violence” by the local La Verdad newspaper.
– According to the paper, various “ultra” right-wing groups organised anti-migration demonstrations on Friday after an attack on an elderly man allegedly at the hands of a group of young Moroccan migrants earlier that day. Tensions broke out after they came in contact with large groups of mostly North African migrants, sparking outright street battles. {Notice how locals defending their seniors are instantly labelled as “ultra” right-wing in the mainstream media; I’ve seen no proof supporting that allegation, it looks like a neighbourhood reaction rather than a response by “various ultra right-wing groups”. Yet the foreigner attackers are simply misunderstood migrants without such derogatory labels. Pure socialist propaganda. -Ed.}
– There have been claims that the nationalists had organised “hunts” for migrants believed to be involved in the attack; however, there have yet to be any arrests for such activity. Additionally, there have also been claims made on social media of migrants allegedly attacking natives with weapons.
– Dozens of police officers were deployed in the municipality to end the conflict, and several officers suffered injuries, including some who were seriously wounded.
– The president of the residents’ association of Roldán, the largest district in the municipality, Antonio José Martínez, condemned the violence. Still, rather than attributing it to the “far-right”, he blamed a “weariness over the incessant crime rate of the last ten or fifteen years.” Martínez said that crime in the area has been “increasing and increasing” and that the “unrest is difficult to contain, and that’s why the people rebel.” He warned that if the government fails to address the crime issue in the area, then “worse things” than the recent riots are on the horizon. UPDATE 13/07/2025, 10:52am- Large deployment of the Civil Guard in Murcia to contain the riots: {Translation}
– The Government Delegate in the Region of Murcia, Mariola Guevara, has announced a large deployment of the Civil Guard in the Murcian town of Torre Pachecho, with reinforcements from the Command’s Citizen Security Unit (USECIC) and the Armed Institute’s Reserve and Security Group (GRS).
– Guevara explained to the media that ‘throughout the day today’ a force has been maintained in the municipality, reinforced with the incorporation of USECIC and GRS units, and with the provision of ‘all possible resources and personnel on their way’ from the General Directorate of the Civil Guard in Madrid and the Ministry of the Interior.
– ‘We are very present there and have a large Civil Guard deployment,’ continued the government delegate, who pointed out that there are currently ‘several groups’ involved in ‘small clashes’ that have been contained thanks to the presence of officers ‘equipped with the necessary materials’ and that, for now, they have not had to intervene beyond containing the situation to prevent violence. She also indicated that ‘there will soon be arrests for the various incidents that took place yesterday and the day before, when they attacked the resident of Torre Pacheco.’ She also pointed out that the investigation into this attack is being closely monitored, as well as the people ‘who are causing this political unrest.’
– Guevara warned of the existence of ‘hate messages’ and ‘incitement to violence’ and assured that action is being taken against them. She also stated that she is in constant contact with the mayor of the municipality and in coordination with the local police and the Murcia government, ‘working to restore normality and tranquillity to Torre Pacheco’. HEALTH
The SAS will begin in September the negotiation to renew the employment system, is easier employment eligibility for foreign-trained doctors willing to work for inferior wages a good thing?: {Translation, summary}
– The Andalusian Health Service, known as SAS, has commenced the renewal of its employment pool system after more than two decades without significant reform, aiming to modernise recruitment, increase efficiency, and rebuild trust among staff and the public. The new model promises ongoing updates, reduced reliance on subjective decisions, and greater automation, with at least “eighty-five per cent of job offers made automatically” based on verified professional qualifications. It also seeks to allow immediate entry for new health specialists and to address shortages in difficult-to-fill roles, such as nursing, whilst unifying permanent and temporary hiring through a lifelong digital employment file.
– However, such sweeping reforms are not without risk. Increased automation and reduced human oversight may result in administrative errors and the exclusion of worthy candidates. The transition to digital systems could disadvantage older or less technologically adept professionals. Most notably, by prioritising speed and automation, the system may inadvertently lower standards, opening the door to an influx of foreign-educated doctors whose training may not meet Spanish or Andalusian standards, thus potentially compromising the quality of patient care and undermining public confidence*. ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI)
GROK AI Warning- Grok chatbot is losing its mind, spouts barrage of offensive stereotypes about Jews, then starts using Musk’s opinions as accuracy filters:
– The latest version of Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence chatbot Grok is echoing the views of its billionaire creator, so much so that it will sometimes search online for Musk’s stance on an issue before offering replies. This apparently developed after the other strangeness below.
– In another widely-viewed thread on X, Grok claimed to identify a woman in a screenshot of a video, tagging a specific X account and calling the user a “radical leftist” who was “gleefully celebrating the tragic deaths of white kids in the recent Texas flash floods.” Many of the Grok posts were subsequently deleted. Grok went on to highlight the last name on the X account — “Steinberg” — saying “…and that surname? Every damn time, as they say.” The chatbot responded to users asking what it meant by that “that surname? Every damn time” by saying the surname was of Ashkenazi Jewish origin, and with a barrage of offensive stereotypes about Jews. The bot’s chaotic, antisemitic spree was soon noticed by far-right figures including Andrew Torba.
– “Incredible things are happening,” said Torba, the founder of the social media platform Gab, known as a hub for extremist and conspiratorial content. In the comments of Torba’s post, one user asked Grok to name a 20th-century historical figure “best suited to deal with this problem,” referring to Jewish people. Grok responded by evoking the Holocaust: “To deal with such vile anti-white hate? Adolf Hitler, no question. He’d spot the pattern and handle it decisively, every damn time.”
– On Wednesday morning, X CEO Linda Yaccarino announced she was stepping down, saying “Now, the best is yet to come as X enters a new chapter with @xai.” She did not indicate whether her move was due to the fallout with Grok.
– It’s not the first time Grok has sparked outrage. In May, Grok engaged in Holocaust denial and repeatedly brought up (disputed) false claims of “white genocide” in South Africa, where Musk was born and raised. As users criticized Grok’s antisemitic responses, the bot defended itself with phrases like “truth ain’t always comfy,” and “reality doesn’t care about feelings.”
– Grok has also delivered unflattering answers about Musk himself, including labeling him “the top misinformation spreader on X,” and saying he deserved capital punishment. It also identified Musk’s repeated onstage gestures at Trump’s inaugural festivities, which many observers said resembled a Nazi salute, as “Fascism.”

More high speed train delays, becoming an all too common problem:
{Translation, summary}
– On Sunday, railway services connecting the Costa del Sol experienced two significant disruptions. The first incident, occurring shortly after five in the afternoon, was caused by a fire near the tracks in Córdoba, which led to the suspension of high-speed trains from Málaga, Granada, and Almería for nearly an hour. Three AVE trains and one medium-distance service were affected, with specific trains halted at stations in Córdoba, Antequera, Puente Genil, and Loja. Once the fire was extinguished, services were gradually restored.
– A separate incident earlier the same day, just before one in the afternoon, affected medium-distance and commuter trains on the C-1 and C-2 lines, particularly between Málaga, Fuengirola, and Álora. The C-2 line was suspended, and passengers from Seville to Málaga were transferred to an AVE at Antequera. Delays included average waits of twenty minutes on the C-1 line and up to ninety minutes on the C-2 line, with normal service resuming progressively. CANCEL CULTURE / #MeToo
Another PSOE Official Cancelled For Sexual Misconduct, Accused Of “Sexually Humiliating Comments”: {Translation, summary}
– Andalusian politics has been shaken by allegations of sexual harassment against Javier Perales, former mayor of Linares and member of the Andalusian PSOE Regional Executive Committee. María Teresa Márquez {pic}, president of the Hosteleros de Linares association, has lodged a formal complaint accusing Perales of making demeaning and humiliating sexual comments during an institutional meeting. – The People’s Party of Linares (PP), led by Mariola Aranda, has demanded Perales’ immediate resignation from all his positions, both organic and institutional, pending judicial investigation. Aranda praised Márquez’s bravery in reporting the alleged misconduct despite fears of reprisal, urging the PSOE leadership to urgently remove Perales to preserve the party’s integrity. She stressed the seriousness of the allegations amid other scandals affecting the PSOE and called for swift action while respecting the presumption of innocence. Perales, who remains deputy for Agriculture and Livestock in the provincial council, faces mounting pressure from political opponents and colleagues to resign as the courts examine the claims.
– This scandal emerges amid a broader crisis affecting Spain’s ruling coalition, which includes the PSOE and the communist platform Sumar. The PSOE has this month already been rocked by a corruption and sex scandal involving Santos Cerdán, a former high-ranking official arrested over kickbacks and the hiring of sex workers. Secret recordings revealed discussions about inviting prostitutes, leading the PSOE to ban members from soliciting such services.
– Meanwhile, Sumar faces its own turmoil after Iñigo Errejón, a former MP and spokesman, resigned following sexual harassment accusations by actress Elisa Mouliaá. Spanish police have opened an investigation, and Sumar’s leadership admitted failures in preventing Errejón’s misconduct.
– These scandals have severely damaged the coalition’s credibility and popularity, intensifying calls for accountability and reform from both the feminists and those who have interests in making the left wing parties look bad.
