Weight regain observed in patients after ending obesity drug treatment:
– Patients prescribed drugs to help them lose weight may experience a rebound in weight gain after halting their prescription, finds a meta-analysis published in BMC Medicine. The study, which analyses data for patients receiving weight loss drugs across 11 randomised trials, suggests that while the amount of weight regain varies depending on the specific drug, there is a broad trend in associated weight regain after the course of medication concluded.

– Amazon is acquiring Bee, a startup that puts AI on your wrist. Bee CEO Maria de Lourdes Zollo says on LinkedIn that the company is joining Amazon to help “bring truly personal, agentic AI to even more customers.”
– Bee makes a $49.99 Fitbit-like device that listens in on your conversations while using AI to transcribe everything that you and the people around you say, allowing it to generate personalized summaries of your days, reminders, and suggestions from within the Bee app. You can also give the device permission to access your emails, contacts, location, reminders, photos, and calendar events to help inform its AI-generated insights, as well as create a searchable history of your activities.

Something strange is orbiting Neptune, and it’s not a moon:
– Way out past Neptune, astronomers have spotted a rare space traveler, a trans-Neptunian object named 2020 VN40. Using the LiDO survey, led by the Center for Astrophysics, Harvard\Smithsonian, the team discovered that this icy wanderer isn’t just drifting, it’s moving in sync with Neptune, completing one orbit around the Sun for every ten Neptune makes.
– 2020 VN40 is far away. On average, it’s about 140 times farther from the Sun than Earth, and it travels on a steeply tilted path through the solar system. What makes it truly intriguing is how it dances with Neptune. Most objects that orbit in sync with Neptune tend to keep their distance; they swing closest to the Sun when Neptune is on the opposite side. But 2020 VN40 breaks the pattern. From a top-down view of the solar system, it looks like it comes closest to the Sun right when Neptune does, too.
– But here’s the twist: they only appear close. In reality, the 2020 VN40 is far below the solar system’s central plane, akin to a cosmic sneak attack from the depths.
