MALAGA PROVINCE
The oriental hornet is spreading across Andalusia and terrorising beekeepers- ‘It’s a killing machine’: {Translation, summary}
– The oriental hornet (Vespa orientalis), first detected in Algeciras in 2018, has now spread across all provinces of Andalusia, with Cádiz, Málaga and Seville most severely affected. Native to Asia and the Middle East, the species has grown by 30 per cent in a single year, causing grave concern among beekeepers. This carnivorous hornet attacks honeybees for protein, decimating hives and paralysing the beekeeping sector, which has already lost 9 per cent of its operations nationally in three years.
– Its impact extends beyond apiculture. The hornet damages grapes, mangoes and figs, making harvests unfit for sale, and poses risks to people, as nests in the ground trigger painful group stings when disturbed. Experts confirm it is impossible to eradicate, as authorities failed to act when first alerted. Since it has not been classified as an invasive species, no effective control measures or authorised chemical solutions exist, leaving only limited nest removal as a response. TORROX
Torrox’s conservative PP bans tents and tents on beaches after it claims to have received complaints from bathers, ignoring opposition from virtually every other group & party: {Translation, summary}
– Torrox Town Council has extended its measures regulating beach use, now prohibiting the installation of tents, marquees and similar structures. The ruling Partido Popular, which approved the change against opposition from PSOE, IU and Vox, argues that these installations occupy excessive space, generate noise and obstruct lifeguards’ visibility, thereby reducing safety.
– The ban, initially without fines and of an informative nature, excludes celebrations for the Night of San Juan and authorised group activities, such as school or disability visits. Authorities highlight improved cleanliness, more free public space and better emergency access as expected benefits. Mayor Óscar Medina stressed that, unlike neighbouring Nerja where tents are permitted in some beaches, Torrox’s beaches are close to housing, making restrictions necessary {???}.
– The PSOE criticised the measure, claiming it unfairly limits family enjoyment, and instead proposed designated zones. They accused the PP of inconsistency, noting it had opposed earlier restrictions on parasols, which it later promoted as its own policy. The mayor of Torrox announces in plenary session the start of “historic new investments” of €12 million for the last four months of the year: {Translation, summary}
– At the August council meeting, Torrox mayor Óscar Medina announced new investments exceeding 12 million euros for the final quarter of the year. Projects include the Palace of Justice, the second phase of the Santa Rosa leisure complex, the continuation of the Coastal Path, improvements to the María Peláez indoor pool and the expansion of SAE offices. The governing Partido Popular also approved adjustments to water supply and sewerage bylaws, updating fees, deposits and price tables to reflect current costs, with PP and VOX support.
– Opposition objections to restrictions on marquees and canvas structures on beaches were dismissed, with the Government insisting the rule preserves public space {while encouraging sunburn & heatstroke?}. A socialist proposal on animal welfare was passed {no details provided}, but their initiatives for shaded parks and gardens, and a left-wing motion on municipal radio, failed. Officials highlighted ongoing investment in green spaces since 2015 and defended recent modernisation of radio facilities. MARBELLA
Caricaturists to return to Marbella’s seafront promenade after two-year ban:
– Marbella town hall has finally given in and caricaturists will once again be able to return to the town’s seafront promenade. The last time they could carry out their profession in the public area was in 2023, which was when the town hall banned the activity. The publicity generated when the Spanish association of caricaturists (AEC), which denounced the ban a few weeks ago, seems to have had an impact on the town hall. Municipal authorities have reconsidered their position, which until now they justified on the grounds of security and overcrowding of spaces.
– The town hall offered caricaturists three locations and the artists have finally accepted one of them – the promenade, which is “the ideal place in any coastal town”. FUENGIROLA
Local Council & Socialists In Madrid Push Agenda 2030- Two Hundred Surveillance Cams Installed In Fuengirola To “Reinforce Public Safety”: {Translation, summary}
– Fuengirola Town Hall has installed a network of almost 200 surveillance cameras across the city, including 37 on the Promenade, to enhance public safety, traffic control and emergency response. Mayor Ana Mula described the project as part of continuous efforts to maintain security in a growing, diverse municipality. The system monitors nightlife areas, flood-prone zones, and river mouths, providing immediate information in emergencies. Linked to a central control hub, the cameras allow real-time monitoring and direct collaboration with the National Police. They detect traffic offences, study mobility patterns, identify congestion, and recognise number plates to flag uninsured, untested or stolen vehicles.
– Although presented as a neutral public-safety initiative, this scheme fits into the wider socialist agenda aligned with Agenda 2030, under which mass surveillance, climate monitoring and mobility control are central objectives. Importantly, the installation required the authorisation of the Ministry of the Interior, led by the hard-core socialist minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska, who has championed such measures nationwide. Authorities insist the system is “responsible and respectful of rights,” yet its expansion reflects the broader push towards Agenda 2030 policies, combining environmental, social and digital governance tools under the guise of public safety and wellbeing.
– {Critics warn that such systems pose serious threats to the public. Real-time facial recognition can easily be abused for mass tracking of citizens, undermining freedoms. Furthermore, large surveillance databases are frequent targets of data breaches, exposing private information to misuse by criminals or unauthorised actors. Though promoted as “responsible and respectful,” this agenda risks eroding privacy under the guise of safety, embedding Agenda 2030’s model of total oversight into everyday civic life. Once a freedom is surrendered it is never returned! You can’t vote your way out of tyranny. In the UK there is a strong movement to destroy these public spy-cams. Will we see that here? -Ed.}

GIBRALTAR
Spain and the United Kingdom set the date for the demolition of the Gibraltar fence for January 2026: {Translation, summary}
– Spain and the United Kingdom plan to demolish the Gibraltar Fence by January 2026 under a treaty with the European Union, finalised after an agreement in June and expected to be ratified in December. The deal will remove the physical border, with controls transferred to Gibraltar’s port and airport, supervised jointly by Spanish and Gibraltarian authorities. Meanwhile, the Spanish Government prepares to implement Schengen Entry and Exit System controls from October.
– Local leaders voice mixed reactions. Juan Franco, mayor of La Línea, welcomes the project but demands official details, stressing its direct impact on his municipality. José Ignacio Landaluce, mayor of Algeciras, criticises a lack of transparency, arguing the Campo de Gibraltar gains nothing while Gibraltar secures advantages, including in port operations and housing markets. In contrast, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, mayor of San Roque, celebrates the agreement, urging the Partido Popular to support the treaty and adopt a genuine vision of state.
– So while there will still be border checks, they will move away from the land crossing and be integrated into Gibraltar’s ports of entry. The idea is that people moving freely between La Línea and Gibraltar on foot or by road would no longer pass through a visible fence or checkpoint at the frontier, although controls would apply to travellers arriving from outside Schengen. In Scotland, you can be arrested for some words on a tee-shirt: {Translation, summary}
– Scottish screenwriter Paul Laverty, long-time collaborator of Ken Loach and Palme d’Or winner, was arrested in Edinburgh under the Terrorism Act 2000 for wearing a T-shirt reading “Genocide in Palestine, time to act”. Authorities deemed it support for Palestine Action, a group banned as terrorist by the Scottish Government. Released but ordered to appear in court on 18 September, Laverty denounced the charges as absurd and insisted the real issue is genocide and the arms trade that fuels it. He declared that the true court is public opinion, not a “sham court” enforcing censorship of protest. Several batches of a moisturizing face cream from a well-known Korean brand ‘Erborian’ are recalled: {Translation, summary}
– The Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products (Aemps) has reported that some batches of Erborian’s Centella Cème facial moisturizer must be withdrawn from the market. The problem lies in the fact that microorganisms have been detected in these batches that can cause infections in people with health problems or weakened immune systems.
– Specifically, Micrococcus luteus and Microbacterium oxydans bacteria and Candida parapsilosis yeast have been detected. The affected batches are those with the following numbers: KM05363, KM06363, KM06343, and KM07343, in 50 ml and 20 ml containers.
– Erborian’s Centella Crème is sold in Spain through pharmacies, drugstores, perfumeries, and online retailers. The Aemps has already asked retailers to check their stocks of this product, remove it from sale, and contact the manufacturer. Aemps recommends that users who have any units from the affected batches stop using them and return them to the store where they were purchased.
