Your questions answered by Ruth from Compare Funerals Spain
– Why should I have a funeral plan? Having been funeral planning for over 10 year I’ve experienced some very sad and upset families when nothing is in place. A Spanish funeral plans will ensure that all costs are covered for your funeral service. Getting a prepaid plan will help you feel assured that your family will not be under any financial strain when it comes to paying for your funeral. A plan also means you can have peace of mind that everything has been organised in advance, so your loved ones do not have to make any difficult decisions.
– Why choose Compare Funerals? There seems to be a gap in Spain between independent funeral directors, offering plans at a good price but lacking the security of an established Trust or ability to cover a client overseas and Providers who seem to charge more than necessary. We want to be right in the middle and offer the best of both worlds. Our best-priced plan is only 2,250€ and does the essentials.
– Can I do a payment plan? All our plans are payable in full or over up to 5 years interest FREE. The interest free periods are based on initial deposit. The higher the deposit the less your monthly repayments will be.
– Can I transfer the plan? The answer is YES. You could name 2 people on one plan however if you had a friend/family member pass away we can transfer the plan into a 3rd party’s name.
– What happens if I move? All our plans offer the equivalent service in Spain (including the islands), Portugal, Republic of Ireland and the UK. If you moved to the UK, we would transfer the plan to one of our many partners at no extra cost to you.
– Is paperwork included? Yes, your family will receive a death certificate in Spanish and an international certification in English. We also provide a cremation certificate that allows the ashes on board a plane.

SPAIN
Sanchez admin finally declares wildfire emergency, after 2 months of infernos; our scruffy, delusional Interior Minister claims it is a fast response: {Translation}
– The Council of Ministers has declared “areas affected by emergency” in 16 of the 17 autonomous communities, leaving out only the Basque Country. This decision responds to a series of emergencies that took place between 23 June and 25 August, caused by 113 fires and five episodes of severe drought.
– The magnitude of these events has produced one of the worst recent environmental disasters, affecting both infrastructures and public and private property. The situation requires an urgent and coordinated response from the competent authorities in order to mitigate the damage and to assist in the recovery of the affected areas.
– During the meeting of the Council of Ministers held this Tuesday, it was agreed to declare an emergency in most of the autonomous communities of the country. Only the Basque Country does not appear in this list of 16 regions affected by the recent environmental crises.
– The declared emergencies have been the result of numerous forest fires and periods of drought which have endangered both ecosystems and local communities. The action of the Government seeks to provide the necessary resources to face these challenges and to minimise the impact upon the population.
– Commitment of the Government towards recovery. “Although the episode of emergency has not concluded, it is clear that we are facing one of the greatest environmental disasters of recent years and that the personal damage to infrastructures and to public and private property, without doubt, is considerable,” declared the Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska {pic}, at a press conference following the meeting.
– Marlaska emphasised the importance of activating the mechanism of aid for the affected people “as soon as possible so that they may regain a certain normality.” He also highlighted that the “emergency has not yet been declared closed” due to the persistence of fires, assuring that “these institutions will at all times have their Government at their side and will have all the necessary aid in order to achieve the greatest possible recovery of the areas affected by the disaster.” Source, Spanish: https://www.andaluciainformacion.es/articulo/espana/incendios-gobierno-declara-zona-catastrofica-territorios-todas-ccaa-pais-vasco/202508261402173131481.html

Sanchez dodges another session of Parliament: {Translation, summary}
– Once again, Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has refused to face Parliament, avoiding scrutiny at a moment when his leadership is under serious question. The PP demanded his presence to explain his Government’s failures in handling forest fires, the chaos of the railway system, and above all the corruption scandals surrounding his wife, Begoña Gómez. Instead, Sánchez hides behind his ministers, four of whom will appear voluntarily, while he remains absent.
– The PP accuses Sánchez of victimhood, of insulting the opposition and dodging responsibility, turning what should be accountability into a circus of excuses. His refusal to appear only deepens the perception of arrogance and contempt for Parliament, fuelling suspicions about his integrity. While communities demand help and citizens suffer daily disruptions, Sánchez is missing yet again, leaving others to defend his record. This latest no-show underscores a pattern of avoidance that weakens democratic accountability.

The Government approves the decree to start with the transfers of migrant minors and sets the places that each territory must have- Andalucia gets the most: {Translation, summary}
– The Government has approved the final decree enabling the transfer of unaccompanied migrant minors from the Canary Islands, Ceuta and Melilla to other autonomous communities. The regulation sets the ordinary capacity at 32.6 places per 100,000 inhabitants and allows communities that exceed three times this threshold to declare extraordinary contingency, triggering redistribution. At present, only the Canary Islands, Ceuta and Melilla qualify, with the Balearic Islands also obliged to help despite not reaching that threshold.
– The Ministry of Youth and Childhood has allocated numbers based on population, economic indicators and what it terms “previous effort.” Andalusia is to receive the largest number of minors, 677, followed by Madrid with 647 and Valencia with 571. In sharp contrast, neither the Basque Country nor Catalonia has been assigned any, justified officially by their earlier efforts, although Catalonia has offered to take in a small number voluntarily.
– This exemption for two of the wealthiest and most politically powerful regions is controversial. It highlights the disproportionate burden falling on Andalusia, a region already dealing with social and economic challenges of its own. Many see this as unfair, since solidarity should be shared equally rather than negotiated with exceptions for strategic allies. The PP warns of the “deterioration” caused by an “indicted prosecutor” opening the judicial year before the King and giving orders to the official who will be his interrogator: {Translation, sumary}
– Spain faces the bizarre situation of Attorney General García Ortiz {pic}, indicted by the Supreme Court, preparing to lead the ceremonial Opening of the Judicial Year before the King, judges, and the nation.
– Cuca Gamarra of the Popular Party condemned the absurdity of a figure under judicial investigation commanding the very prosecutors who may soon interrogate him. She warned that no subordinate could freely question their superior without fear of reprisal, undermining both legality and moral authority.
– The Popular Party, backed by Vox, demanded Ortiz resignation, denouncing the Government for clinging to power at the cost of institutions. They claim this spectacle projects not dignity but democratic decay to the world.
– Socialists and their allies defended García Ortiz, declaring him innocent and accusing the opposition of political persecution. Yet the optics are extraordinary: while judicial proceedings loom, the Government insists on having him speak as the symbolic guardian of justice. Such a contradiction renders Spain’s institutional credibility precarious and invites mockery. Government failure on housing- only 32% of its budget was spent in 2024 (yet they now demand larger budgets!?!), and only 5% of Sánchez’s promised 184,000 homes were built: {Translation}
– The Minister of Housing and Urban Agenda, Isabel Rodríguez (socialist PSOE) {pic}, stated this Monday that new Budgets are necessary to provide more “public” and “affordable” housing. {What? Your boss Sanchez has been unable to pass a budget in over 2 years. How about you get your socialist administration in order before making new demands for funds faster than you can spend them, as explained below. -Ed.} She therefore urged separatist and communist partners to support the Government in this aim, which would help Pedro Sánchez remain in La Moncloa (presidential residence).
– However, the minister’s request appears contradictory after it was revealed that her ministry was the only one to spend less than half of its allocation in the General State Budgets: merely 32 per cent, leaving nearly 3,000 million euros unspent. In addition, only 14 per cent of European funds were used in 2024, the worst figure in the whole Government.
– Reports from the General Intervention of State Administration (IGAE) indicate that of 3,168 million euros from the EU, only 459 million were spent. In short, Housing executed fewer resources than any other ministry in 2024, demonstrating that housing policy has not been a priority for Pedro Sánchez’s Government.
– In this context of governmental inaction, previous promises on housing have also vanished. Of the 184,000 homes promised by Sánchez in the 2023 electoral campaign, only 10,206 have been delivered, amounting to just 5.5 per cent.
– Despite not spending the 5,500 million euros and failing to meet the promise of 184,000 homes, the minister asserted that “we need more budget for more public housing, for more affordable housing, to strengthen the public enterprise, and to support municipalities. In short, to address the principal problem faced by Spaniards”.
– In statements to the press during a visit to land in Alcorcón (Madrid) intended for university accommodation, the Housing Minister claimed that “no other Government could do it better” than the current administration, which is “committed” to public policies and has shown that “in adversity it is always on the side of the people”. “Today with the fires, yesterday with the ERTEs when we faced a pandemic that paralysed this country”, Rodríguez concluded. {Always a day late and a dollar short, she’s proud of the gov’t’s weak responses to every emergency; both of those examples she gave were gov’t response emergency management disasters. And she conveniently leaves out the mis-handling of the DANA and the blackout. Her statements reveal her to either be dim, mad, or perhaps a propagandist. -Ed.} Source, Spanish: https://www.libertaddigital.com/libremercado/2025-08-26/el-gobierno-pide-aprobar-los-presupuestos-para-vivienda-tras-dejar-5-500-millones-sin-ejecutar-en-su-ministerio-7288961/
ANDALUCÍA
Six Andalusian locations declared catastrophic areas after the Forest Fire of the Summer of 2025: {Translation, summary}
– On Tuesday, the Council of Ministers approved the declaration of six Andalusian municipalities as areas seriously affected by civil protection emergencies, the former designation of “catastrophic area”, following the forest fires that occurred throughout this summer. The measure will allow those affected to apply for public aid, access tax benefits, and benefit from extraordinary measures for the recovery of the damaged areas.
– The towns benefiting are El Garrobo (Seville) for the fire that broke out on July 1; Algercias (Cadiz), which suffered a fire on July 11; Castillo de la Albaida (Cordoba), which had another fire on July 22; Tarifa (Cadiz) for the forest fires on August 5 and 8; Jabugo and Bonales, both in Huelva, for those on August 12 and 17, respectively.
– The Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, explained after the meeting of the Council of Ministers that the declaration “does not contain specific aid,” but opens the legal mechanism for the relevant ministries to issue the necessary orders and resolutions. “The important thing is that those affected can begin the process of returning to some degree of normality as soon as possible,” he stressed. Applications must be submitted by residents individually.
– What does this declaration mean? The Civil Protection Law provides that those affected are eligible for compensation for personal injury, housing, and personal property, as well as tax reductions and social security contribution rebates. In more serious cases, compensation can reach up to €18,000 for death or disability and between €2,500 and €15,000 for property damage. Support measures for farms and emergency contracts to speed up the recovery of infrastructure are also being considered. Seawater in Andalusia reaches 28.03º C, the highest recorded in 2025: {Translation, summary}
– The coasts of Andalusia have recorded the highest water temperatures so far in 2025, coinciding with the heatwave that lasted 16 days in the region. Cabo de Gata (Almería) set the absolute record with 28.03 degrees on August 16, followed by 27.79 degrees the next day.
– According to the State Ports Exterior Network, third place goes to the buoy in Málaga, with 27.60 degrees on August 9. In fourth place is Cabo de Gata again, with 27.47 degrees on August 18, and in fifth place, Málaga once more, with 27.40 degrees on both the 10th and 13th of the same month.
– The upward trend began on August 9, when water temperatures began to rise by about one degree in a few days, with a more pronounced increase between August 15 and 17, coinciding with the last weekend of the heatwave.
– In contrast, the Gulf of Cádiz buoy did not show significant increases in the Atlantic Ocean. There, readings ranged between 23 and 24 degrees, with a maximum of 25.49º on August 17 and 25.39º on the 18th. ‘Terral’ wind returns to Costa del Sol: how long will it last and what maximum temperatures are expected?:
– The dreaded land-based, ‘terral’ wind is on its way back to Malaga province and will make its presence felt this Wednesday 27 August and it threatens to stay at least until Friday. Spain’s state meteorological agency (Aemet) has in fact activated a yellow warning for heat tomorrow, Wednesday, for the western Costa del Sol, Malaga city and the Guadalhorce valley area, where maximum temperatures of 36C are expected. The warning will be in force from 1pm to 9pm.
– The head of Aemet’s Malaga weather centre, Jesús Riesco, stressed that this land-based wind “will affect some areas of the Mediterranean, specifically in Malaga, between Wednesday and Friday”. According to Riesco, this meteorological phenomenon will be accompanied by maximum temperatures that will reach 36C on Wednesday, 33 degrees on Thursday and 34C on Friday. MARBELLA
Here Come The Trash-Cams! Marbella will use cameras to monitor residents to ensure they dispose of their trash correctly: {Translation, summary}
– The Town Council of Marbella has decided to employ its network of video surveillance cameras on an indefinite basis to monitor waste disposal. The official aim is to improve cleanliness and the city’s image by identifying those who leave rubbish outside containers, deposit it at the wrong times, or abandon items such as rubble and furniture. Four departments of the Local Police will now centralise the monitoring, with infringements recorded and sanctioned.
– Although the Council stresses that cameras only operate in public spaces and target sanctionable acts, the extension of surveillance to cover “all areas” of the city raises questions about citizen privacy and the proportionality of such measures. Many residents view this as excessive for a matter of urban management. While better waste practices are needed, relying heavily on police cameras instead of strengthening education and civic awareness could set a worrying precedent for everyday monitoring of all kinds of public activities. HEALTH
Was the “deadly” Covid pandemic a cruel globalist hoax, just a rebranding of a new flu variant? Professionals confirm, “The summer coronavirus is the new flu”: {Translation}
– To yearn for the blanket in August is already a first symptom in itself. From there to the chemist there is but a single step, and that is precisely what many people in Málaga are doing. “The tests to detect covid are being sold again. We have noticed it throughout the month of August,” says Asunción Pérez de la Masa, owner of a chemist’s shop in the city. “It is advisable, above all, for those who have elderly people in their care,” she adds.
– The coronavirus and the corresponding tests no longer arouse the same expectation as they did during the pandemic, when the wait for certainty caused real anxiety in some people. This also explains how in recent times covid has been normalised, becoming a viral incidence that is now part of the routine of society. “The summer coronavirus is the new flu,” stresses a family doctor from the Regional Hospital with many years of experience.
– In a context of spending time outdoors, the question arises of how cases of covid can increase, since it is known to be a respiratory virus. The answer is given by the family doctor and vice president of the College of Physicians, José Antonio Trujillo. “With the heat, people gather more in places where there is air conditioning. We close the rooms to keep them cool, but the incidence increases because air conditioning increases transmission,” notes Trujillo.
– According to sources from the College of Physicians of Málaga, “the incidence is on the rise.” This translates into more respiratory discomfort, though with a favourable course. In any case, it is made clear that the incidence is mild when compared with other peaks in the past. The circulating variant of the coronavirus is known as ‘XFG’ and is present in the region, without causing severity, though it does bring more infections.
– The Department of Health is at present updating its figures. In the city of Málaga, the fair is indeed considered a social event that may have propelled the number of infections. Although it is likely that the mentioned increase in cases will also be reflected in the bare numbers, the message being conveyed is one of calm. For the moment, nothing suggests that the cases of coronavirus are accompanied by serious symptoms.
– The same sources recall that the vaccines administered to the people of Málaga in the previous vaccination campaign protect against the current variant of covid. The coronavirus now seems a mirage of what it once was {and the questions remain, of whether vaccines do more damage than the malady it targets. RFK Jr thinks so, see next article. -Ed}.

RFK Jr cancels $500m in funding for mRNA vaccines for diseases like Covid in USA:
– The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) plans to cancel $500m (£376m) in funding for mRNA vaccines being developed to counter viruses that cause diseases such as the flu and Covid-19. That will impact 22 projects being led by major pharmaceutical companies, including Pfizer and Moderna, for vaccines against bird flu and other viruses, HHS said.
– Health Secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr, 71 years old {pic}, announced he was pulling the funding over claims that “mRNA technology poses more risks than benefits for these respiratory viruses”. In a statement, Kennedy said his team had “reviewed the science, listened to the experts, and acted”. “The data show these vaccines fail to protect effectively against upper respiratory infections like COVID and flu,” he said.
– Kennedy also claimed that mRNA vaccines can help “encourage new mutations and can actually prolong pandemics as the virus constantly mutates to escape the protective effects of the vaccine”. He also removed the Covid-19 vaccine from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s recommended immunization schedule for healthy children and pregnant women. The Board rings 21 Egyptian vultures in 2025, bringing the total number of birds tagged in Andalusia to 391: {Translation, summary}
– The Junta of Andalucía, through its Vulture Recovery and Conservation Plan, has marked 21 Egyptian vulture chicks (Neophron percnopterus, also known as an Alimoche) this July, bringing the total ringed in the region since 2000 to 391. All birds born since 2025 are now individually identified, some fitted with GPS devices for real-time monitoring, allowing detailed tracking of migration, feeding areas, threats, and post-fledging movements. Andalucía’s population comprises 26 fragmented breeding territories, mostly in Cádiz, with others across Córdoba, Jaén, and Málaga. The species remains vulnerable to illegal poisoning, wind farms, and power lines despite signs of stabilisation. Ringing in July ensures chicks are safely handled for annual reproductive monitoring. In addition, captive-bred and rehabilitated birds are released into natural parks to strengthen populations. This coordinated effort, combining scientific tracking, habitat management, public-private collaboration, and policy measures, aims to secure the Egyptian vulture’s survival in Andalucía, halting prior declines and giving the species a genuine chance to continue as part of the region’s natural heritage.
