Butane prices fall by 5% and a gas cylinder will cost €16.27 this Tuesday: {Translation, summary}
– The maximum retail price of butane gas cylinders will be reduced by 5% starting this Tuesday, settling at €16.27. This adjustment represents the second consecutive price decrease, as stipulated in a resolution published in the Official State Gazette (BOE).
– The latest price revision responds to a 1.6% drop in raw material prices and a 2.3% appreciation of the euro against the dollar. These factors offset the increase in freight costs, which have risen by 14.9%, according to sources from the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge. The police denounce that there were “political orders not to act” in the Vuelta and ask for the resignation of Sánchez and Marlaska: {Translation, summary}
– Spain’s National Police unions have clashed with the Government over security at the final stage of the Vuelta a España, disrupted by pro-Palestinian protests. JUPOL claimed officers received “political orders” not to intervene, alleging the strategy aimed to allow the boycott rather than protect public order. The union condemned footage of police withdrawing as demonstrators overturned barriers and argued that anti-riot equipment was deliberately withheld, leaving officers “tied hand and foot.”
– JUPOL demanded the resignations of Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska, and Madrid’s Government delegate Francisco Martín, accusing them of encouraging protests.
The majority police union SUP echoed these criticisms, saying the deployment was deliberately insufficient and compromised the safety of athletes, citizens and officers “for political convenience.” Both unions demanded accountability and identification of the senior official responsible for the operation, a post currently vacant in Madrid.
– In response, despite 22 injured officers, Marlaska defended the plan as “absolutely sufficient,” likening it to NATO summit security measures, and praised officers for managing a complex situation while respecting rights to protest. Martín highlighted the demonstrations as an expression of Spanish solidarity with peace, stressing incidents were isolated and quickly resolved. A week or more of summer heat begins- a warm air mass will bring temperatures close to 40C: {Translation, summary}
– Andalusia faces an intense and prolonged heatwave in mid-September, with temperatures more typical of August. According to Aemet, a mass of very warm air will keep the region under anticyclonic conditions for the entire week, bringing anomalies of up to 6–10 degrees above average. Maximums will remain above 35C across much of the region, and the Guadalquivir valley is forecast to exceed 38C for several consecutive days. Between Wednesday and Friday, Seville, Cordoba and Jaén could even surpass 40C in the shade.
– Nights will also be unusually hot. Minimums in Jaén, Seville and Cordoba may not fall below 25C, creating torrid nights that prevent relief from the daytime heat. Even coastal areas like Huelva will see elevated temperatures, though with some moderation compared to the interior.
– The episode is expected to continue through the week and possibly into late September. Source, Spanish: https://www.20minutos.es/nacional/semana-calor-verano-masa-aire-calida-temperaturas-pais_6325922_0.html

Elon Musk sparks outrage with ‘fight back or die’ video-speech at Tommy Robinson rally:
– An estimated 110,000 to 150,000 people gathered in London on Saturday (13 September) for the ‘Unite the Kingdom’ rally, organised by far-right figure Tommy Robinson. The Metropolitan Police confirmed that 25 people were arrested during the demonstration, where 26 officers were injured – four of them seriously – in what the force described as “unacceptable violence.”
– Elon Musk made a surprise video appearance at the rally, telling Robinson that “a change of government” was needed in the UK and even calling for a “dissolution of parliament.”
– The Tesla owner told protesters they must “either fight back or you die,” framing his message as an appeal to “British common sense.”
– He went on to address what he called “the reasonable centre” – people who “ordinarily wouldn’t get involved in politics, who just want to live their lives (At 10 min. mark in video). They don’t want that, they’re quiet, they just go about their business.” My message is to them: if this continues, that violence is going to come to you, you will have no choice,” he said. “You’re in a fundamental situation here. Whether you choose violence or not, violence is coming to you. You either fight back or you die, that’s the truth, I think.” Full article: https://www.indy100.com/news/elon-musk-tommy-robinson-london-protest-2673994078 & Video Link
HEALTH
Multidrug-Resistant Fungus Spreading Rapidly In Europe, with the most in Spain:
– Candidozyma auris (formerly Candida auris) poses a risk for patients in healthcare facilities across Europe due to its ability to cause severe infections in critically ill patients, its potential resistance to several antifungal agents, which makes infections difficult to treat, and its propensity for transmission and outbreaks in healthcare settings. The C. auris survey 2024 shows that spread of C. auris continues to occur at a rapid pace.
– The top five European nations with the highest C. auris case numbers during this period were Spain with 1,807 incidents, Greece with 852, Italy with 712, Romania with 404, and Germany with 120 cases, according to the report. In total, 4,012 cases of C. auris colonisation or infection were reported by European Union (EU) / European Economic Area (EEA) countries between 2013 and 2023.
– Since 2020, case numbers have been increasing rapidly until 2023 when 1,346 yearly cases were reported by 18 EU/EEA countries. Despite this increase, the recorded case numbers only reflect the tip of the iceberg as systematic surveillance is not in place in many countries.
– In Greece, Spain, and Italy, the time period between the first documented C. auris incident and the infection becoming endemic in the region has been five to seven years, “showing how rapidly C. auris can spread through hospital networks.”
– Spain was the first EU/EEA country to report a C. auris outbreak in 2016. The initial outbreak in Spain started in a tertiary care hospital in Valencia and spread onwards to other hospitals in the same region. C. auris cases still mainly occur in the same hospitals and region but case numbers have been declining as outbreaks are now better controlled due to increased awareness, introduction of specific surveillance protocols in centres that have been most affected and earlier implementation of control measures.
– A national surveillance system for C. auris is not in place in Spain. Spain had been assigned the epidemiological stage of 5 ‘regional endemicity’ (the highest alert stage) since the
previous survey in 2022.

Even doctors suffer malpractice and fight nonsensical SAS defences! SAS must pay €67,000 after fighting case 11 years for a doctor to be compensated for a botched surgery she endured- SAS defence statements ruled “insult to intelligence…and an absolute lack of respect for patients”: {Translation, summary}
– A Malaga woman, now 63 and herself a doctor, has won a legal battle against the Andalusian Health Service (SAS) after part of a surgical needle was left in her wrist following an operation in 2014 at the Virgen de la Victoria Hospital. She had undergone surgery to stabilise her left wrist after earlier trauma, during which a Kirschner wire (K-wire) was implanted. Although the cast and wire were supposedly removed two months later, she soon experienced persistent pain. An MRI scan seven months later revealed a metallic fragment still lodged in her wrist, which had caused joint damage including ligament rupture, capsule tearing and bone erosion.
– In 2015 she required further private surgery to extract the fragment. The SAS argued the injuries stemmed from her pre-existing polyarthritis, not malpractice. SAS even presented a witness doctor “super-specialist” who described the retained fragment as “super-information”- which released surgeon, so he claimed, from the obligation to inform the patient- rather than essential information the patient should receive. The court dismissed this as an insult to patients’ intelligence and an absolute lack of respect towards patients. The judge confirmed that malpractice had occurred through either surgical error or failure to inform.
– Both the first-instance judge and the High Court of Justice of Andalusia found a direct causal link between the treatment and the patient’s injuries, ordering the SAS to pay her 67,000 euros plus interest. FINANCIAL
High Court Decision Strengthens Legal Certainty in Wills and Succession Disputes: {Translation, summary}
– A recent Spanish Supreme Court ruling has clarified a long-standing source of confusion in inheritance law: the distinction between computation and collation.
– Computation is a mandatory calculation that adds the value of all donations made by the deceased during his lifetime to the estate total. Its purpose is to safeguard the legítima, the portion of the inheritance that must go by law to forced heirs, and it cannot be avoided by the testator.
– Collation, by contrast, is a mechanism among forced heirs in which lifetime gifts are treated as advances on inheritance. Unlike computation, the testator may exempt heirs from collation, allowing them to retain such advances without adjustment in the distribution.
– In ruling 457/2025, the Supreme Court held that even when collation is waived, donations must still be computed to protect the legítima. This ensures fairness among heirs and provides greater legal certainty in drafting wills and resolving inheritance disputes.
