San Pedro Alcántara Pre-feria Ham Cutting Competition: Sunday, 28 Sept.
– San Pedro Alcántara is gearing up for its fair in honour of its patron saint next month, and this Sunday, September 28, it has organized the 1st La Villa National Ham Cutting Competition as part of its Pre-Fair Gala, with proceeds going to the Maestro Ramón Mayen Music Band. The event, which will be held at 11:30 a.m. in the church square. This first competition will bring together some of the best cutters in the province. For two and a quarter hours, the jury will evaluate the thickness and size of the slices, the presentation of the dishes, cleanliness and order, among other aspects. All the ham dishes that are cut will be sold for €5.

CANCELLED- Malaga City Council suspends this Sunday’s Rastro, 28 Sept.:
The San Diego Comic-Con event in Malaga this weekend means that the flea market, which is usually held every Sunday at Cortijo de Torres, has to be cancelled. Malaga City Council has announced that it won’t be possible to hold this market, the city’s most traditional and typical, as the area where it’s held has to be used for parking to serve the convention. The nationalist leader believes that the PSOE should have tried to prevent the vote from failing but acted too late. “They are going to crash,” he predicted.
– The Secretary General of Junts, Jordi Turull, pressed on Tuesday the button that sets in motion the countdown for the nationalist party to decide whether to break with Pedro Sánchez. Until now, the post-Convergents had maintained that the announcement would be made in the autumn. This season began yesterday, Monday. Turull has set Christmas as the time limit. “By the time we eat the nougat, the decision will already have been taken,” he declared at a conference organised by Nueva Economía Fórum. – Pedro Sánchez needs Junts per Catalunya mainly because of parliamentary arithmetic in the Spanish Congress of Deputies.
– PSOE cannot secure a majority without them:
The Spanish Parliament has 350 seats, so a government needs at least 176 to govern with stability. After the July 2023 general election, Sánchez’s party (PSOE) and its main left-wing ally (Sumar) fell short of that majority. Only with the Junts votes can they reach a majority.
– Role of Catalan pro-independence parties:
To secure his investiture as Prime Minister, Sánchez needed the support (or at least the abstention) of smaller regional parties, including the Catalan separatists (Junts and ERC), the Basque nationalists (PNV and EH Bildu), and others.
– Why Junts is crucial:

The sale and purchase of homes in Andalusia rose 16.1% in July and has been on the rise for three months: {Translation, summary}

Denmark suffers another episode with unidentified drones at four airports: {Translation}
– Copenhagen Airport had to suspend its activity on Monday night and into the early hours of Tuesday for several hours due to the presence of large drones. An incident that was described by the Prime Minister, Mette Frederiksen, as the “most serious attack against a critical infrastructure in Denmark” to date.
– The aircraft, whose flight over the area lasted about two hours and were not shot down, forced the closure of Aalborg terminal.
– Unidentified drones were observed on the night from Wednesday to Thursday over four airports in Denmark, one of which, Aalborg, in the north, had to suspend its service. This is the second such episode the country has suffered this week, after Copenhagen Airport had to close last Monday due to a similar incident. Belgium leaves Spain alone in its plan to phase out nuclear power, plans to build eight new plants by 2050: {Translation, summary}
