Blackmailing Junts Turn Up The Heat On Sanchez & PSOE: {Translation, summary}
– Junts per Catalunya has made it clear that it does not fear a government led by the PP (conservative right). Jordi Turull {pic}, senior figure in Junts per Catalunya (centre right Catalan nationalist and Catalan pro-independence party), justified this on the grounds that the amnesty ought already to be benefiting all the leaders of the ‘procés’ but it is not, and the same goes for Catalan in the EU. The fear that with the PP there would be neither amnesty nor recognition of Catalan in the EU is no longer valid, he warned, because with the PSOE (far left liberal) and Sumar (communist) these claims have also not been possible up to now.
– Meanwhile, Turull has attacked Podemos (progressive, left-wing, and populist), hours before the vote on the legal proposal for the delegation of powers on immigration to the Generalitat agreed between Junts and the PSOE. Podemos have announced their vote against, accusing the post-Convergents of practising racist policies.
– In his view, Podemos will commit a “historic mistake” with its vote against. “The extremes meet” and “close the circle”, he remarked about Podemos and Vox (right wing conservative). Turull stressed that he had tried to negotiate with Belarra but the Podemos leaders “did not want to talk”. The nationalist leader believes that the PSOE should have tried to prevent the vote from failing but acted too late. “They are going to crash,” he predicted.
– The Secretary General of Junts, Jordi Turull, pressed on Tuesday the button that sets in motion the countdown for the nationalist party to decide whether to break with Pedro Sánchez. Until now, the post-Convergents had maintained that the announcement would be made in the autumn. This season began yesterday, Monday. Turull has set Christmas as the time limit. “By the time we eat the nougat, the decision will already have been taken,” he declared at a conference organised by Nueva Economía Fórum. He did not reveal what the party’s position will be, but he did state that they would not continue to provide the critical support the Government needs to maintain a parliamentary majority out of “inertia” or “resignation”. It is not a matter of making a sudden swerve, but of seeing whether the alliance with the Socialists remains “useful” and serves to advance the resolution of the conflict, he summed up. Turull stressed that Junts will not take a decision in the heat of the moment and that it will consider whether “it is worth continuing or not”. Spanish Politics Explainer- Why do Sanchez & PSOE socialists need the Junts cooperation to get anything done?: {DigameXtra Exclusive}
– Pedro Sánchez needs Junts per Catalunya mainly because of parliamentary arithmetic in the Spanish Congress of Deputies.
– PSOE cannot secure a majority without them:
The Spanish Parliament has 350 seats, so a government needs at least 176 to govern with stability. After the July 2023 general election, Sánchez’s party (PSOE) and its main left-wing ally (Sumar) fell short of that majority. Only with the Junts votes can they reach a majority.
– Role of Catalan pro-independence parties:
To secure his investiture as Prime Minister, Sánchez needed the support (or at least the abstention) of smaller regional parties, including the Catalan separatists (Junts and ERC), the Basque nationalists (PNV and EH Bildu), and others.
– Why Junts is crucial:
Junts, led by Carles Puigdemont in exile and Jordi Turull in Catalonia, holds a small but decisive number of seats (7). In a fragmented parliament, those 7 votes can make or break Sánchez’s ability to pass:
*Investiture (to remain Prime Minister).
*Budgets (to fund his government).
*Major legislation (where every vote counts).
– The price:
Junts has used this leverage to extract major concessions, such as:
*The amnesty law for those prosecuted over the 2017 Catalan independence process.
*Ongoing negotiations about Catalan language recognition in the EU.
*Talks about greater self-government and powers for Catalonia.
– In short: Sánchez needs Junts to survive in office and legislate, because without them (and sometimes ERC or the Basque parties) his government would collapse in parliament.

Sánchez confirms that he will be a candidate again in the 2027 elections: {Translation, summary}
– The Prime Minister of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, has announced his intention to seek re-election in the general elections scheduled for 2027. This announcement was made during an exclusive interview with Bloomberg.
– Pedro Sánchez has confirmed his intention to compete once more for the premiership in the 2027 elections. “And if I am allowed, I am confident we can repeat the majority and continue with the work,” stated the Socialist leader, emphasising that this decision has already been discussed with his family and party members.
– Despite recent polls placing Sánchez & the PSOE behind the PP and projecting an absolute majority for the right if Vox is included, the Prime Minister has expressed optimism about his ability to govern for another four years. “Polls are polls,” Sánchez remarked, downplaying the significance of current results and criticising centre-right parties for adopting political strategies similar to those of the far right, particularly on issues such as migration and public safety. Moreno extends his seventh tax cut with a rental deduction: {Translation, summary}
– Andalusian President Juanma Moreno has announced further tax cuts, including improvements to the rental deduction, which will be part of the 2026 regional budget. The new measure increases refunds from €900 to €1,200 per year for under-35s, over-65s, and victims of gender-based or terrorist violence earning up to €25,000. People with disabilities will see the maximum deduction rise to €1,500. The measure is expected to benefit 35,000 people, providing €8 million in additional savings alongside €18 million already saved under current deductions.
– This announcement follows two previous measures: deductions for veterinary expenses and for gym fees and federated sports, all effective under the 2026 budget and applicable to the 2025 Income Tax campaign. Since 2019, Moreno’s government has introduced seven tax reduction packages, estimated to save Andalusian families around €1 billion annually. The initiatives aim to support households across age groups and special circumstances while promoting sports and pet care. Denmark suffers another episode with unidentified drones at four airports: {Translation}
– Copenhagen Airport had to suspend its activity on Monday night and into the early hours of Tuesday for several hours due to the presence of large drones. An incident that was described by the Prime Minister, Mette Frederiksen, as the “most serious attack against a critical infrastructure in Denmark” to date.
– The aircraft, whose flight over the area lasted about two hours and were not shot down, forced the closure of Aalborg terminal.
– Unidentified drones were observed on the night from Wednesday to Thursday over four airports in Denmark, one of which, Aalborg, in the north, had to suspend its service. This is the second such episode the country has suffered this week, after Copenhagen Airport had to close last Monday due to a similar incident. Authorities have not yet provided further information on the origin of the aircraft or their intentions.
– The drones were detected at the airports of Aalborg, Esbjerg and Sønderborg, and at the Skrydstrup airbase, before departing on their own. “It was not possible to shoot them down; they flew over a very wide area for a couple of hours. Up to this moment, we have not apprehended their operators either,” said Inspector Jesper Bojgaard Madsen regarding the incident in Aarhus. The South Jutland Police confirmed that they had received “several reports” of unmanned aerial vehicles throughout Wednesday night. ENERGY CRISIS
A solar plant costing more than $2.2B in the California desert is shut down after years of wasted money: “It killed more than 6,000 birds”: {Translation, summary}
– The Ivanpah solar plant in California’s Mojave Desert, opened in 2010 as a symbol of America’s clean energy ambitions, will close permanently in 2026 after just over a decade of operation. Once the largest solar installation globally, Ivanpah faced persistent inefficiencies, high costs and underperformance. Its three 140-metre towers and 173,500 computer-controlled mirrors were intended to concentrate sunlight to generate steam for turbines, but the plant never reached expected energy outputs and relied on natural gas support.
– Technological advances in photovoltaic panels, which are cheaper, more efficient and easier to deploy, quickly made Ivanpah obsolete. Environmental concerns also emerged: around 6,000 birds are estimated to die annually after flying through the intensely heated zones. Critics have called the project a cautionary example of government-subsidised inefficiency, illustrating the risks of large-scale investment in complex technologies that fail to adapt to a rapidly evolving energy market. Ivanpah serves as a warning for future renewable energy projects. Belgium leaves Spain alone in its plan to phase out nuclear power, plans to build eight new plants by 2050: {Translation, summary}
– Belgium is increasingly favouring nuclear energy as part of its future electricity mix, in contrast to Spain, where the Sánchez government remains committed to phasing it out. This leaves the Government of Pedro Sánchez as the only one in Europe seeking to end nuclear energy.
– A report by the Federal Planning Bureau outlines three scenarios for ensuring Belgium’s electricity supply until 2050. The most economically and strategically efficient scenario combines an expansion of offshore wind farms from 2.2 to 8 gigawatts with the construction of new nuclear reactors adding 8 gigawatts. Without nuclear power, Belgium would need to import up to 40% of its electricity, while with new plants domestic production could cover roughly one-third of demand, reducing foreign dependence.
– The nuclear-inclusive scenario is also the cheapest, with average electricity costs around 115 euros per megawatt-hour, compared with 25–35% higher prices if nuclear is excluded. Nevertheless, authorities emphasise political and strategic factors, such as radioactive waste management, fuel imports, and potential construction delays. Projections indicate that Belgian electricity demand could more than double by 2050, exceeding 200 terawatt-hours. The government is preparing to send the Navy warship ‘Furor’, with a 3-inch cannon and machineguns, to support the Palestine-Aid flotilla heading to Gaza: {Translation, summary}
– The Spanish Navy warship ‘Furor’ is preparing to sail from Cartagena, Murcia, to support the Global Sumud Flotilla en route to Gaza, which is delivering humanitarian aid and carrying several Spanish citizens.
– Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez announced from New York that the Government would deploy a Navy ship equipped to assist the flotilla and conduct any necessary rescues. While initially expected to depart on Thursday, preparations are ongoing on board, including loading fuel, food and essential supplies. The mission aims to protect participants from the 45 countries involved, ensuring the safety of Spanish citizens in case of difficulties, though Sánchez expressed hope that no incidents occur. {Hopes for no incidents? Will Spain’s Navy actually fire on Israeli ships or aircraft in Israeli waters if their military tries to intercept the flotilla? If it’s simply humanitarian aid and possible rescue operations Spain wants to provide, why is a heavily armed Navy ship being used? Why did they wait for the flotilla to get most of the way to its destination before getting involved if their only concern is ensuring a safe trip? Most of the travel risk is over. Israel is sure to see this as a provocation. -Ed.}
– The ‘Furor’ is a Meteoro-class ocean warship {pic}, delivered in January 2019, with a crew of fifty and armed with a 3-inch Oto Melara cannon and two MK-38 Mod.2 machine guns. Its capabilities allow it to operate in surveillance, humanitarian, peacekeeping, anti-drug, and anti-trafficking missions. The church meeting hall is situated at: Res: El Olivar 5, 8 Bajo 1, Calle Arbequin, Velez Malaga 29700.
Full directions and further information can be found on our Facebook page, or you can contact us by email on elpuentechristianfellowship@gmail.com or by phone on 665626342.
For those who cannot join us in person, we aim to stream Sunday services via the Facebook page (subject to a good internet connection).

– Yan – 3 months old, fully vaccinated, living in a foster home, and gets on well with all dogs, cats and children
– Benny – 11 yrs old, a large chap, who just loves mooching in the garden and lying in the sun, great with other dogs and cats, fully vaccinated and neutered.
Both dogs are in need of new homes due to health conditions of their owners, good with other dogs and children, but not lived with cats.
Please take a look at our website, where you will find more information and photos, plus details of other dogs and pups that we have in our care. Our adoption costs are 110e for pups that have been fully vaccinated, rabies, chip and passport. 180e for older dogs that have all vaccinations, neutered and passport. This contributes towards their vet and care costs, and helps us to continue rescuing abandoned dogs and cats.
