Sanchez’s Investiture Ruptures– Junts members endorse Puigdemont’s decision to break with Sánchez with 87% support: {Translation, summary}
– Junts members have supported the party leadership’s decision to sever ties with the PSOE, with 86.98% backing the move in a consultation with 66.29% participation. Carles Puigdemont celebrated the result and thanked the base, emphasising their commitment to making difficult decisions in a political landscape dominated by populism. This marks the third time the party has consulted members, and Puigdemont has never lost an internal vote.
– The break with the PSOE comes after months of frustration over stalled agreements, notably around Catalan’s official status in Europe, and immigration powers. Puigdemont accused the PSOE of breaking the Brussels agreement.
– Junts will now shift to opposition, though it remains unclear whether they will reject future proposals or meetings with Sánchez’s team. Despite this rupture, sources suggest negotiations will continue on a case-by-case basis. The DGT lists vehicles that must carry the new illuminated V-16 emergency beacon: {Translation, summary}
– From January 2026, Spain will replace traditional warning triangles with the new V-16 emergency beacon. The yellow light, visible from one kilometre away, must be carried in all cars, lorries, vans, and buses. It attaches magnetically to the roof and flashes a 360-degree signal for at least 30 minutes. – Each approved beacon will also connect via GPS and SIM to the DGT 3.0 platform, automatically alerting traffic control centres to warn nearby drivers. Inside, it contains all the components required for correct operation, including a GPS chip and a non-removable SIM card. It also includes a battery or cell with a minimum lifespan of 18 months, whether rechargeable or not. This device must be kept in the car’s glove compartment so that in the event of a breakdown or accident it can be activated in seconds and placed, preferably, on the roof of the vehicle.
– The change follows studies showing that walking along the hard shoulder to place warning triangles greatly increases the risk of being run over. By allowing drivers to remain inside their vehicles, the DGT aims to eliminate such accidents. The V-16 must be stored in the glove compartment for quick access and has a battery life of at least 18 months. Authorities describe it as a safer, faster, and smarter replacement for the outdated reflective triangles. Spain Pushes Green Agenda Despite Recent Concessions to Traditional Fuels by Brussels: {Translation}
– The Government of Pedro Sánchez has formally requested that the European Commission maintain unchanged the roadmap that calls for banning combustion engines by 2035 and ensuring that, by 2050, only 100% electric cars may circulate. In a letter sent to Ursula von der Leyen, the Spanish Government—together with the French—has demanded that no exceptions be made for hybrid vehicles, even though these account for more than half of sales in the European market.
– According to El Debate, Moncloa’s stance contrasts with the signs of revision emerging from Brussels, where industrial pressure and the collapse of the electric vehicle market have forced the Commission to reconsider its strategy. According to EU sources, several countries and manufacturers warn that the total ban “has led the sector into a dead end”, with more than 100,000 jobs at risk and an industry “in intensive care”.
– The internal debate within the EU includes the possibility of allowing intermediate technologies, such as synthetic or renewable fuels, to avoid the paralysis of the sector. Synthetic fuels, though technically feasible, are too costly and energy-inefficient, while renewable fuels, promoted by companies such as Repsol, are emerging as a more reasonable alternative: petrol and diesel made from organic waste that minimise emissions and can reach climate neutrality through forest-based compensation.
– Despite this, the Spanish Government remains firm in its commitment to the electric vehicle as the only solution, even though 11% of the national GDP depends on the automotive sector, which provides more than two million jobs. Brussels admits that electric cars have yet to take off: charging infrastructure is still insufficient and production costs remain unsustainable for European manufacturers.
– At present, not a single battery for electric vehicles has been produced in Spain, although projects are underway in Sagunto (Volkswagen) and Figueruelas (Stellantis). The Government’s insistence on speeding up the green transition risks leaving the country without a competitive industrial base before the new model is ready to replace the existing one.

TORROX

Torrox Town Council reiterates that ‘the substation reports will certify the safety of the facilities’: {Translation, summary}
– José Manuel Fernández, spokesperson for the Torrox City Council Government, reaffirmed that the new electrical substation would be completely safe, based on assurances from Endesa. During a meeting with representatives from Torrox Park (the area where the substation is located) and municipal council members, Endesa technicians explained how they would carry out a measurement study to ensure the residents’ peace of mind. To ensure more certainty, the Town Hall commissioned a new safety report from an accredited company to supplement the initial study by the University of Málaga. Fernández condemned the opposition’s “unscrupulous political exploitation” of the project, claiming it was stirring fear among the local community.
– Fernández confirmed that the Town Hall is fully available to ensure that the substation’s safety is comprehensively certified, and that all relevant licenses and environmental controls were met in coordination with Endesa and the appropriate authorities. He also reminded that the substation is a crucial investment for the municipality, providing a stable electricity supply, improving network efficiency, and supporting the town’s growth.
– Addressing concerns, Fernández claimed that electrical substations are entirely safe, following strict European regulations, and that no scientific evidence links them to negative health impacts. He also highlighted that the substation would provide direct benefits to residents, including improved electricity quality, energy security, and the capacity to support new development. In conclusion, he emphasised that the substation is a strategic investment, reinforcing Torrox’s ability to grow confidently and sustainably.
{The scientific consensus is that electrical substations, like most everyday sources of electromagnetic fields (such as household appliances and mobile phones), do not pose a proven health risk when exposure is within regulated limits. However, the World Health Organization’s classification of EMFs as a “possible” carcinogen does leave room for further research. So, while Fernández’s statement that “no scientific evidence links [electrical substations] to negative health impacts” is largely accurate in the context of current scientific understanding, it is important to note that research on this topic is ongoing, and public health bodies continue to monitor and review new data. While there are studies suggesting a possible link between electromagnetic fields (EMFs) from electrical substations and health issues such as childhood leukaemia, brain tumours, and cognitive effects, this is not yet accepted by mainstream medicine or industry regulators. -Ed.} Source, Spanish: https://www.axarquiaplus.es/el-ayuntamiento-de-torrox-vuelve-a-trasladar-que-los-informes-de-la-subestacion-certificaran-la-seguridad-de-las-instalaciones/

RINCÓN DE LA VICTORIA

A truck broken down for almost 15 hours causes another major traffic jam from Rincón de la Victoria: {Translation, summary}
– A lorry breakdown that began on Wednesday afternoon caused more than twelve kilometres of queues on the A-7 motorway near Rincón de la Victoria, lasting until Thursday morning. The heavy vehicle remained immobilised for nearly fifteen hours because the driver, a Moroccan haulier without roadside assistance insurance, was unable to afford towing costs. A first recovery attempt failed when the tow cable snapped, and only a second company managed to clear the road the next day.
– Experts explained that many self-employed truckers skip assistance cover because it can double insurance costs, while a tow can exceed 2,500 euros. The incident again exposed the A-7’s vulnerability, where even a single breakdown causes severe congestion. Málaga Provincial Council president and Rincón mayor Francisco Salado condemned the lack of state investment, calling the situation “third world” and blaming years of central government neglect for turning the eastern stretch into a permanent bottleneck. MIJAS

Latest Home Invasion & Assault– 80 year old woman seriously injured in the brutal assault on her home in Mijas: {Translation}
– Two men have been arrested as suspected perpetrators of a violent robbery in a home in Mijas, where they left the resident, an 80-year-old woman, seriously injured for hours until her son visited her and raised the alarm. The victim was diagnosed with cranial, facial and cervical trauma and had to undergo surgery.
– The Civil Guard reported on Thursday that the perpetrators entered the property by climbing over the perimeter wall and brutally assaulted the victim to force her to hand over valuable items. The woman, who lived alone, was left lying on the floor, unable to move or call for help due to the severity of her injuries. Fortunately, her son, who visited her regularly, found her the next day and alerted the emergency services, who transferred her to hospital.
– A meticulous investigation by the Civil Guard led to the identification and arrest of a 49-year-old man as one of the attackers, who was remanded in custody by the Court of Instruction No. 1 of Fuengirola. Shortly afterwards, his accomplice in the robbery, a 42-year-old man already serving a prison sentence for other offences, was also identified. – Anti-Islam lawmaker Geert Wilders’ far-right Party for Freedom and the centrist D66 were were tied with 98% votes counted in the Dutch general election in an unprecedented neck-and-neck race to become the biggest party. The near total vote count showed each party winning 26 seats in Wednesday’s election.
– The difference between the two leading parties was just over 2,000 votes nationwide, according to the vote count tallied and published by Dutch national news agency ANP and cited by Dutch media. The ECB is targeting 2029 for the issuance of the digital euro after completing the preparation phase: {Translation}
– The European Central Bank has advanced the digital euro project to its next phase following the completion of its preparatory stage. If the European Union passes the necessary legislation in 2026, pilot tests could begin in 2027, with the first possible issuance expected in 2029.
– The ECB believes the digital euro will safeguard monetary sovereignty, privacy and payment choice, while supporting innovation and competitiveness. It will coexist with cash, whose legal use the ECB seeks to protect. Development costs are estimated at 1.3 billion euros up to 2029, with annual operational expenses of around 320 million euros thereafter, funded by the Eurosystem. These are expected to be offset by seigniorage, even if digital euro use remains modest. President Christine Lagarde {pic} described the euro as a symbol of European unity and said preparations continue to modernise both physical and digital forms of the currency. {Don’t forget, digital money can be controlled by the banks/gov’ts: expiration dates, purchase restrictions, geographic restrictions, etc. -Ed.} Source, Spanish: https://www.europapress.es/eseuropa/noticia-bce-bce-apunta-2029-emision-euro-digital-concluir-fase-preparacion-20251030115730.html

– Disgraced royal and Jeffrey Epstein pal Prince Andrew will no longer be a prince and will have to move out of his Royal Lodge home, Buckingham Palace announced Thursday. The late Queen’s son will have his title stripped and now be known as “Andrew Mountbatten Windsor,” the Palace said in a statement provided to BBC News.
– Andrew will move into a property on the Sandringham Estate, privately funded by King Charles, according to the Palace. Full article: https://nypost.com/2025/10/30/world-news/prince-andrew-to-be-stripped-of-prince-title-buckingham-palace/

Trump orders immediate resumption of US nuclear weapons testing:
– US President Donald Trump, ahead of his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday, said he has instructed the Department of Defense to immediately resume testing nuclear weapons on an “equal basis” with other nuclear powers. “Because of other countries’ testing programs, I have instructed the Department of War to start testing our Nuclear Weapons on an equal basis. That process will begin immediately,” Trump said on Truth Social, ahead of the meeting with Xi in South Korea. “Russia is second, and China is a distant third, but will be even within five years,” Trump noted.
– As Trump has toughened both his rhetoric and his stance on Russia, Putin has publicly flexed his nuclear muscles with the test of a new Burevestnik cruise missile on October 21 and nuclear launch drills on October 22. President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday that Russia had successfully tested a Poseidon nuclear-powered super torpedo that military analysts say is capable of devastating coastal regions by triggering vast radioactive ocean swells.
– The United States last tested a nuclear weapon in 1992.

HEALTH

The strike called by the workers of the Regional Hospital of Malaga is suspended after signing an agreement: {Translation, summary}
– The five-day strike planned for 3 November at Málaga’s Regional University Hospital has been called off after an agreement between management and unions. Staff had protested against the failure to cover absences and the daily transfers between units, which caused severe overwork, particularly for nurses.
– The hospital’s management has now pledged to cover all sick leave and reduced-hour positions permanently and to end the practice of forced mobility. The deal will immediately allow more than 200 contracts to be issued {…if they can even find potential staff willing to work in Andalucia, which remains the root problem of these staffing shortages. How the union can once again accept the same old empty promises of increased staffing “solutions” is remarkable. -Ed.}, including 187 for reduced hours and 45 for long-term absences. However, union delegate Juan Ignacio Anguita noted that this does not expand the workforce but restores posts that should already exist. He described the accord as a long-term safeguard rather than a temporary fix and stressed that the Staff Committee will remain vigilant to ensure that the promised measures are carried out in practice. Government’s refusal to adjust Income Tax for inflation drains taxpayers while boosting its own spending power– taxpayers moved to higher tax brackets even when real income has not increased: {Translation, summary}
– Spain’s Government has refused to adjust Income Tax thresholds to inflation, a move known as not “deflating” the IRPF. This has generated an extra 1.8 billion euros a year in hidden revenue, since taxpayers move into higher tax brackets even if their real income has not increased. Brussels has accepted this as a discretionary revenue-boosting measure under the new European fiscal framework, meaning the extra income counts as additional room for public spending.
– By 2027, the Government will have gained about 5.3 billion euros of extra spending capacity. However, the Independent Fiscal Authority (Airef) warns that without spending restraint Spain will breach its agreed fiscal path every year, risking sanctions from 2027 onwards. Airef estimates spending will grow by 4.4 percent instead of the pledged 3.4, requiring annual cuts or adjustments of 3 to 6 billion euros to stay within European limits. – Eight more Christians have been killed in an attack by Islamic State terrorists on a Christian village in eastern Congo. “With the help of Allah, the soldiers of the Caliphate attacked the Christian village of Mangurudjipa in Lubero and beheaded eight Christians while the rest fled the village, and all praise belongs to Allah,” the jihadists declared in a statement posted on their social networks.
– This is yet another chapter in the genocide carried out by the jihadists under the slogan “Bring Down the Cross”, which they adopted when they still possessed their “Caliphate” in Syria and Iraq. It is well known that for certain sectors of Western society only some genocides are recognised, those they choose to define as such, without ever showing concern for the Christians, perhaps because they are black, who suffer these terrible massacres. Why care about some Africans lost in such a vast continent when, for political campaigns and supposed electoral gain, the Jews are so much closer at hand? Besides, those black people are Christians. A true lesson in concern for human rights, regardless of race, religion or political creed, with indifference as the guiding principle. NEW LIFE CHURCH

New Life Church:

REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY: On Sunday the 9th November, we will be holding a special “Remembrance Service” at 11:00am, where we remember all those fallen in battle.

– Sunday Service:
Whether you live in Nerja or are visiting our area, you are very welcome to come and join us on Sundays at 11.00am. Join us for a time of Holy Spirit led worship and experience the presence of our God. Our teaching is Bible based as we honour God and obey His Word. During this time of uncertainty, God’s Word reminds us that the Gospel shines brightest in times of darkness. Our service lasts for about 1 hour and 30 mins. With Tea and Coffee afterwards.
– Prayer Meeting:
You are also welcome to join our prayer meetings on Wednesday mornings at 11.00am for 1 hour, where we meet for prayer and worship.
– Jesus said: “I am the Way and the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me”. (John 14:6)

Traffic & Jerry Garcia play Dear Mr. Fantasy (1994):
– A re-formed Traffic opened for the Grateful Dead on several dates in 1994. This occurred at shows including Soldier Field in Chicago and Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ. On at least two of these nights, Jerry Garcia joined Traffic on stage for their final song, a performance of “Dear Mr. Fantasy”. Jerry just loved playing with Steve Winwood (Steve’s website), who has also appeared at several Grateful Dead shows, on organ & guitar. Search YouTube for clips. One was Fillmore East, November 16, 1970. Winwood played the Hammond organ and provided vocals for several songs, including “Hard to Handle”. Video Link
