Can you believe it? Another year draws to an end, and so it is once again time for the DigameXtra Holiday Fundraiser. The idea is to collect enough donations in this next 8 weeks to recover my 2025 expenses. That allows me to publish daily issues for the following 10 months free from any donation request nags. I hate asking, and no one likes being asked, so please give generously and in 8 weeks we can be done with this for another year. -Naythan. ANNUAL HOLIDAY FUNDRAISER

 I can only produce DigameXtra with the financial support of my readers. Once a year, during the year end holidays, I do an 8 week fundraiser to help pay production expenses throughout the whole year. This year’s goal is to receive donations from 4% of subscribers. This “4% Club” finances DigameXtra for the 96% group that don’t donate. Which group will you belong to? The generosity of the 4% Club members is greatly appreciated.

Just like your morning coffee,
what would you do
without your morning DigameXtra?

– Holiday Donation Info, 2 Methods –

DigameXtra subscribers must donate at least €20 (39 cents per week) to gain annual submission posting privileges.

#1. You may drop cash donations off in person and say hello, by appointment, or place them in my mailbox beside my door anytime. Please be sure to include your name on the envelope so I can put you on the list of subscribers with submission posting privileges for 2025-2026! Due to health reasons, unannounced drop-ins are inconvenient for me. But if I am expecting you, no problem! My mailbox has the name HARRIS on it. Email me for map and directions. Cash donations are strongly preferred.
#2. Alternatively, you may send me an Amazon ES (Spain) “eGift card” by email. You need to have an Amazon.es account. The only info you need is my email address and your name (the sender’s name). Remember, this is an “eGift card” you buy that Amazon.es emails directly to me, don’t buy a plain “gift card”. Use the link provided below to access the “eGift card” purchase page.
PLEASE DO NOT SEND AMAZON UK eGIFT CARDS. NO BANK TRANSFERS OR PAYMENT APPS.
Here is the Amazon.es eGift Card Link, (NOTE: YOU CAN CHOOSE ANY AMOUNT YOU LIKE ON THE FORM, THE DEFAULT IS €60):
https://www.amazon.es/Cheques-Regalo-Amazon-es-mail-Amazon/dp/B07SS5PFJK/?th=1&gpo=60
On the eGift card purchase form, enter the DigameXtra email as the recipient, as shown below in Spanish and with English translation.
Para/For : digamextra@protonmail.com

Please do not ask me about gaining posting privileges by making small donations of under €20, several times a year. Several people promised to do that for each of the last two annual fundraisers, and not a single one followed up.

Total Donations Received As Of Today: 14

Target, 4% of subscribers = 200 donations

SPAIN

Brussels includes Spain among the countries entitled to relocate migrants to other EU countries: {Translation, summary}
– The European Commission’s first annual report on immigration and asylum identifies Spain, Italy, Greece, and Cyprus as the EU countries under the greatest migratory pressure due to high numbers of sea arrivals. These four states will be eligible for the forthcoming European solidarity quota, designed to assist members facing disproportionate migration levels. The mechanism, expected to take effect in mid-2026, will define each country’s contribution through financial aid, migrant relocation, or other measures, which will be public and legally binding.
– The report notes a 35% drop in illegal border crossings between July 2024 and June 2025, credited partly to improved cooperation with partner nations. However, it also warns of continuing challenges, including irregular arrivals, refugee reception from Ukraine, Russia and Belarus using migration as a political tool, and issues with returns and readmission. The Commission also plans a €250 million drone and anti-drone initiative to help member states counter “hybrid threats” at their borders. Junts calls Sánchez “cynical and hypocritical” for saying that he fulfils his agreements and asks him how he plans to govern: {Translation}
– The spokesperson for Junts in the Congress, Miriam Nogueras, called the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, “cynical” and “hypocritical” on Wednesday for, as she said, blaming them for the breakdown of their agreements. She stated that he is only interested in power and cannot be trusted, and reiterated that the relationship between the two parties has ended.
– “Mr Sánchez, turn up the volume in your earpiece and listen to me. This relationship is over. You press the Catalans, you fail to deliver, and it is our responsibility to press you,” Nogueras declared during her reply following Sánchez’s appearance before the Congress.
– Junts spokesperson Miriam Nogueras said Sánchez “only cares about power, fails to honour commitments, and is responsible for the current legislative deadlock.” Nogueras insisted that the Government acts only when pressured by Junts, citing the revival of a shelved bill on repeat offenders as an example. Rejecting Sánchez’s appeal for a “spirit of agreement”, she stated that Catalans “neither live nor eat” from such words. She confirmed Junts would block several Government proposals, including those on families, universal healthcare, and child protection online, blaming the Government for their stagnation. Nogueras accused Madrid of long-standing insults towards Catalans and vowed no future offence would go unanswered.
– Before concluding, Nogueras reminded Sánchez that he lost the elections and that it is only thanks to the votes of Junts that he is Prime Minister and not the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo. She emphasised that it is her party that prevented Spain from having a PP and Vox government. “Therefore, lessons from you and your allies, none,” she affirmed. Creditors are already seeking to seize Spanish accounts and properties in the US due to Sánchez’s non-payments to renewables: {Translation, summary}
– Spain faces a critical stage in the international dispute over unpaid renewable energy arbitration awards. Foreign investors, backed by King & Spalding LLP, have formally requested US courts to identify Spanish public assets eligible for seizure if compensation remains unpaid. The move follows seven adverse rulings in US courts, totalling 688.4 million euros, with the total debt now exceeding 2.18 billion including interest.
– Public entities such as SEPI, Renfe, Paradores, Instituto Cervantes, ENAIRE, and INECO are under scrutiny as potential “alter egos” of the State, meaning their assets could be used to satisfy the debts. Creditors argue these assets are effectively State-owned but commercial, making seizure legally permissible without affecting Spain’s diplomatic authority. Continued refusal to pay has contributed to a 60 percent drop in foreign investment this year, while interest and enforcement measures are rapidly increasing the total liability. Legal action in the US could now result in the first seizures of Spanish assets abroad. Spain’s liabilities exceed 600% of GDP due to public debt and pensions: {Translation, summary}
– Europe’s growth has been hampered for decades by bureaucracy, trade barriers, high taxes, and extreme environmental policies. A report by Luis Garicano, Bengt Holmström, and Nicolas Petit on Silicon Continent warns that political leaders prioritise a “retirement museum” vision over economic prosperity and innovation.
– The study highlights the fragility of the European welfare state, including unemployment benefits, free healthcare, lifelong pensions, and affordable education. Spain faces the most severe challenges, with implicit pension debt exceeding 500 percent of GDP in 2021, combined with 116 percent of GDP in public debt, totalling over 600 percent of GDP. This invisible liability surpasses most other EU countries. The authors argue that stagnation threatens to make the welfare state unsustainable and advocate liberalising reforms to restore economic dynamism. Without action, Europe risks turning its social safety nets into an unattainable ideal rather than a viable reality. ANDALUCÍA

Antonio Sanz, Urges Extension of Active Retirement Scheme for Doctors to Age 72 to Address Health Workforce Shortage: {Translation, summary}
– Antonio Sanz {pic}, the Andalusian Minister for Health, the Presidency, and Emergencies, has called on Spain’s Ministry of Health to extend the enhanced active retirement scheme for Primary Care doctors. This measure, which allows family doctors and paediatricians to continue working as retirees until the age of 72, aims to address the severe shortage of healthcare professionals affecting the country. Sanz emphasised that extending the scheme would help prevent the loss of thousands of medical appointments and ensure continuity of care in health centres. The current scheme, outlined in Royal Decree-Law 20/2022, is set to expire in December 2025. Sanz warned that failure to extend it would result in the loss of hundreds of qualified professionals serving in Andalusia’s public health system.
– Sanz also sharply criticised the Spanish government, stating, “The government of Pedro Sánchez and María Jesús Montero continue blocking the entry of doctors, collapsing the National Health System.” He further described the government’s approach as “mistreating the Andalusians” and labelled their inaction as “incomprehensible.” Sanz also condemned the failure to address ongoing protests from healthcare workers, saying, “It is incomprehensible that the government continues to block the incorporation of the healthcare professionals the public system so urgently needs, when the Ministry itself reports a shortage of 4,500 Primary Care professionals.” Sanz urged urgent action, advocating for the scheme’s extension until at least December 2028. MALAGA PROVINCE

The highway from Axarquía to Malaga– from daily collapse to five major traffic jams in two weeks: {Translation, summary}
– Daily congestion on the A-7 motorway between Rincón de la Victoria and Málaga has reached a breaking point, with five major traffic jams in two weeks highlighting the route’s chronic collapse. The motorway, which serves drivers from Vélez-Málaga, Torre del Mar, Algarrobo, Torrox and Nerja, regularly suffers queues of three to four kilometres during rush hour, forcing commuters to leave home up to ninety minutes early for what should be a forty-minute journey.
– In early November, a series of incidents worsened the situation: lorries breaking down, accidents, and even a wild boar collision led to jams of up to twelve kilometres. The DGT’s lack of tow trucks for heavy vehicles has further delayed clearances. The crisis has reignited political conflict between the Partido Popular, led locally by Rincón mayor Francisco Salado, and the government’s sub-delegate, Javier Salas. The PP accuses Madrid of neglecting Málaga and demands a third lane for the A-7, while Salas insists the Ministry is already working on expansion plans and accuses the PP of hypocrisy, saying they ignored the issue when in power. UKRAINE WAR

Russia makes gains in southern Ukraine as it expands front-line attacks:
– The Russian army overran three settlements in the southern Zaporizhzhia region of Ukraine, Kyiv’s top military commander said Wednesday, as Moscow’s forces expand their efforts to capture more Ukrainian territory. Dense fog enabled Russian troops to infiltrate Ukrainian positions in Zaporizhzhia, Gen. Oleksandr Syrskyi wrote on the messaging app Telegram, adding that Ukrainian units are locked in “grueling battles” to repel the Russian thrust.
– He noted, however, that the fiercest battles are still in the besieged Ukrainian city of Pokrovsk, in the eastern Donetsk region, where close to half of all front-line clashes took place over the previous 24 hours. The cities of Kupiansk and Lyman in Ukraine’s northeastern Kharkiv region have also recently witnessed an uptick in combat.
– Russia’s bigger and better-equipped army has scaled up its attacks, placing the short-handed Ukrainian military under severe strain. Ukrainian officials said in September that the front line has grown in length to nearly 1,250 kilometers (800 miles). Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said earlier this month that Russia had deployed around 170,000 troops in Donetsk. Over the past four weeks, the Russian Defense Ministry has reported capturing nine settlements and villages in Donetsk: eight in the Zaporizhzhia region, seven in the Dnipropetrovsk region and five in the Kharkiv region. HEALTH

Note To CBD Users: If you prefer to smoke your CBD rather than use the other available forms (eaten, vape or topical), this info is for you. I have received reports that the police are now raiding CBD stores in Spain. Police are claiming that the smoked versions of CBD that resemble buds or hash are illegal, even if the other forms are legal, and these bud/hash CBD stocks are being confiscated. My sources tell me that 2 CBD shops/clubs on the Costa del Sol have recently had their inventories of these products impounded and their owners have been charged with possession of restricted items. You may want to stock up for the holidays if you rely on these smokable CBD products for your comfort. Eventually the courts will rule on this one way or the other, but in Spain justice is a slow pony. -Ed. FB Link

Dispute Deepens Over Andalucía Breast Screening Failures as Amama Claims Cases Filed but Junta Denies Receiving Data: {Translation, summary}
– Relations between the Junta de Andalucía and the Amama Association have worsened following what was initially called a “fruitful” meeting about breast cancer screening failures. Amama’s president, Ángela Claverol, now accuses the Junta of trying to silence her and claims more than 4,000 women were not properly informed of their screening results. Claverol confirmed on Tuesday that the association has already submitted 25 claims for compensation on behalf of women who were not informed of their screening results, 15 in Seville and 10 in Jaén. She added that they have “studied and documented” many more cases that will also be presented: 189 in Seville, 22 in Málaga, 16 in Córdoba, 14 in Huelva, 13 in Jaén, 11 in Granada, and six in Almería. Claverol insists that the figures given by the Junta, which count 2,317 affected women (90 percent in Seville), “do not match either in number or by province”, saying the association continues to receive new cases “every day” and already has “more than 4,000”.
– Health Councillor Antonio Sanz disputes this, insisting the Junta has not received any of the data or formal case lists that Amama says it has presented, and that without them, the government cannot respond.
– Claverol also protested that she was the only participant made to sign a confidentiality agreement at a recent oversight meeting, describing it as an attempt to suppress her. Sanz denies this, saying it was only to prevent the leaking of draft plans, and reaffirmed his willingness to cooperate once the association provides the necessary details. A spectacular aurora borealis dyes the sky of several regions in Spain red due to the ‘severe’ solar storm that hits the Earth: {Translation, summary}
– A rare aurora borealis tinged the skies of southern Spain red early Wednesday after a severe geomagnetic storm hit the Earth’s atmosphere. The display, captured by Calar Alto Observatory in Almería and other high-altitude areas, followed two almost simultaneous coronal ejections from the Sun’s active region 4274, which sent plasma clouds travelling at nearly 1,500 km per second. The event reached a level G4 geomagnetic storm, classed as “severe”, with a Kp index between 8 and 9.
– Although invisible to the naked eye due to moonlight and cloud cover, observatory cameras recorded a spectacular red glow lasting two hours, one of the most brilliant auroras seen from Andalucía since May 2024. The United States NOAA confirmed the storm’s severity, issuing alerts to safeguard communications and power networks. Spain’s National Geographic Institute explained that geomagnetic storms are short-term disturbances of the Earth’s magnetic field caused by solar eruptions, and scientists expect further similar events as solar activity peaks.

The hiking trail that is free and everyone compares to the Caminito del Rey– it is in Málaga and has walkways: {Translation, summary}
– El Saltillo, located in the Sierras de Tejeda, Almijara and Alhama Natural Park in the Axarquía, is one of Málaga’s most striking mountain routes. Known as the Caminito del Rey of the Axarquía, it features dramatic metal walkways and a 50-metre suspension bridge over the Almanchares river gorge. The trail links Canillas de Aceituno and Sedella and forms part of Stage 7 of the Gran Senda de Málaga.
– The main route is about seven kilometres long and suitable for moderate hikers, while a more demanding eleven-kilometre version continues towards Sedella. The bridge, one of Spain’s largest in natural surroundings, offers panoramic views reaching the Mediterranean on clear days. Access and parking are free, and the trail is not recommended for young children, people with vertigo or pets. The route showcases the Axarquía’s wild beauty, historic irrigation channels, and native wildlife including eagles, vultures and mountain goats. More info: https://saltillocanillas.com/
