ANNUAL HOLIDAY FUNDRAISER
I can only produce DigameXtra with the financial support of my readers. Once a year, during the year end holidays, I do an 8 week fundraiser to help pay production expenses throughout the whole year. This year’s goal is to receive donations from 4% of subscribers. This “4% Club” finances DigameXtra for the 96% group that don’t donate. Which group will you belong to? The generosity of the 4% Club members is greatly appreciated.
Just like your morning coffee,
what would you do
without your morning DigameXtra?
– Holiday Donation Info, 2 Methods –
DigameXtra subscribers must donate at least €20 (39 cents per week) to gain annual submission posting privileges.
#1. You may drop cash donations off in person and say hello, by appointment, or place them in my mailbox beside my door anytime. Please be sure to include your name on the envelope so I can put you on the list of subscribers with submission posting privileges for 2025-2026! Due to health reasons, unannounced drop-ins are inconvenient for me. But if I am expecting you, no problem! My mailbox has the name HARRIS on it. Email me for map and directions. Cash donations are strongly preferred.
#2. Alternatively, you may send me an Amazon ES (Spain) “eGift card” by email. You need to have an Amazon.es account. The only info you need is my email address and your name (the sender’s name). Remember, this is an “eGift card” you buy that Amazon.es emails directly to me, don’t buy a plain “gift card”. Use the link provided below to access the “eGift card” purchase page.
PLEASE DO NOT SEND AMAZON UK eGIFT CARDS. NO BANK TRANSFERS OR PAYMENT APPS.
Here is the Amazon.es eGift Card Link, (NOTE: YOU CAN CHOOSE ANY AMOUNT YOU LIKE ON THE FORM, THE DEFAULT IS €60):
https://www.amazon.es/Cheques-Regalo-Amazon-es-mail-Amazon/dp/B07SS5PFJK/?th=1&gpo=60
On the eGift card purchase form, enter the DigameXtra email as the recipient, as shown below in Spanish and with English translation.
Para/For : digamextra@protonmail.com
Please do not ask me about gaining posting privileges by making small donations of under €20, several times a year. Several people promised to do that for each of the last two annual fundraisers, and not a single one followed up.
Total Donations Received As Of Today: 34
Target, 4% of subscribers = 200 donations

SPAIN
Sánchez rebels against the Supreme Court– points to the Constitutional Court to settle “controversial” aspects in the sentence to García Ortiz: {Translation, summary}
– Pedro Sánchez reacted to the Supreme Court’s conviction of Attorney General Álvaro García Ortiz for revealing confidential information linked to the partner of Isabel Díaz Ayuso. He said he respects but disagrees with the ruling, adding that, in a democracy, it is legitimate to voice dissent against judicial decisions. Sánchez suggested that other judicial bodies, including the Constitutional Court, may review controversial elements once the full judgment is available. He confirmed that the Government must now appoint a new Attorney General. When questioned about a potential pardon, he said it makes no sense to discuss such matters now.
– Sánchez then defended García Ortiz’s innocence by relying on testimony from “prestigious journalists” who claimed he was not the source of the leaks. This exposes a striking hypocrisy: Sánchez has previously attacked media outlets as unreliable, accused them of spreading misinformation, and even proposed a government register of media ownership along with a council to determine which news sources are “valid.” His sudden reliance on journalistic testimony for political defence exposes his opportunism and inconsistency, revealing a pattern of selective credibility. By attempting to control media legitimacy while embracing journalists when convenient, Sánchez reveals his clear prioritisation of political expediency over principle. Addressing the Inflation Crisis– The PP will resubmit to Congress the reduction of VAT on food to help families: {Translation, summary}
– The PP has announced that it will present a bill in the Congress to request a reduction of VAT on meat, fish, and eggs to help families who see “that with their salary they cannot make ends meet.” “When we analyse the shopping basket, we see that since Sánchez has been in government it has increased by more than 38%. Some products, such as meat and fish, have risen by 45% and eggs by 78%,” said the PP’s Deputy Secretary for Finance, Housing and Infrastructure, Juan Bravo {pic}, who asserts that Sánchez refuses to implement proposals that have been approved on this matter.
– According to Bravo, the proposal envisages a reduction of VAT from 10 to 4% for meat and fish, while for basic and fresh products they request a reduction from 4 to 0%. “This is the way we can help families reach the end of the month more easily when doing their shopping,” he stated.
– Bravo also criticised that Sánchez is “little or not at all” concerned by these problems, just as he is unconcerned about “lacking parliamentary support to avoid passing the budget for the third year or trains not arriving on time.” “Sánchez is not worried that Spain is fading or that foreign investment does not trust Spain. What concerns Sánchez is attacking judges and institutions in order to cover up the conviction of the Attorney General and the more than 30 people in his circle involved in corruption cases,” he said.
– He also stated that Spain is the second country in Europe with the worst rate of child poverty and noted that under Sánchez Spaniards have lost purchasing power, compared with Portugal, which has improved by eight points.
– Meanwhile, the party leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo, in a video posted this Sunday on his TikTok profile, outlined some details of this proposal. “Some time ago we approved in the Congress of Deputies reducing VAT on meat, fish, and canned goods because they have risen by more than 40%. The Government ignored it. Now we must also include other products, such as eggs, which have risen by 78%,” Feijóo stated. The PP leader said they will resubmit the proposal “so that it can be voted on” because, as he points out, “everything is already difficult enough for those who just want to make it to the end of the month without being burdened by more and more taxes.” Source, Spanish: https://www.20minutos.es/nacional/pp-llevara-congreso-rebaja-iva-carne-pescado-los-huevos-para-ayudar-las-familias_6901538_0.html
ANDALUCÍA
Mammogate Update– Amama links three deaths to cancer screening failures and refuses to send data to the Board because they are personal: {Translation, summary}
– The Amama Association has sent a formal response to the Andalusian Health Service (SAS) regarding the request from the regional health administration for the data it holds on women affected by errors in breast cancer screening.
– The Junta sought to resolve discrepancies in the figures, as Amama maintains they have 4,000 cases, while the Ministry has limited the problem to 2,317 patients. Amama replied that it “cannot provide any information that constitutes personal health data without the express, written, and informed consent of its members, because any action in that regard would constitute a serious breach of data protection laws prohibited by the legislation”.
– The association described the request as “surprising, since it demands confidential data from a modest women’s association, which only the Administration fully controls”.
– In any case, its president, Ángela Claverol, affirmed that she “will not back down because the reality is 4,000 cases reported by affected women” received by the association, including reports and consultations from women who “did not receive information about their mammograms”.
– On Friday, Amama linked the deaths of three people to errors detected in the screening programme in Andalusia. This information was detailed by the association’s lawyer, Manuel Jiménez Soto.
– The Junta emphasised the “obligation” to provide data. The Andalusian Health Minister, Antonio Sanz, reminded Amama that providing information to the administration when irregularities are known is “a public health duty” to ensure “these women receive care”. Sanz explained that if the association has information about people not treated by the public system, it must “understand that the priority is to assist them” and therefore “provide that information”. He noted the Junta has precise data on 2,317 women awaiting diagnostic breast cancer tests and stated that “all will receive the tests they are due before 30 November”, while also noting that concern arises because Amama “claims there are 4,000 women whose whereabouts are unknown”.

Chlorate Excess Renders El Borge and Iznate Water Unfit for Consumption, Axaragua Steps Up Controls: {Translation, summary}
– Axaragua reported that the Health Authority has declared the water in El Borge and Iznate unfit for human consumption after chlorate levels exceeded the new legal limit of 0.7 mg per litre, introduced by Royal Decree 3/2023. Chlorates can appear during water treatment when chlorine based disinfectants are used. Axaragua noted that it had carried out twenty one analyses this year across the Viñuela Axarquía System, which supplies fourteen municipalities.
– Only one isolated exceedance was detected and it was not confirmed by a counter sample. Even so, the company strengthened its quality control measures for hypochlorite, improving storage conditions and monitoring. In agreement with the Health Authority, it will now add monthly chlorate measurements at all twenty system delivery points and maintain close coordination with local councils. Axaragua is also preparing a refurbishment plan for the treatment plant to ensure compliance with new health standards. NERJA
A new road and a roundabout to decongest traffic in the centre of the town centre of Nerja, plus more improvements: {Translation, summary}
– Nerja Town Council is advancing plans to reorganise the area surrounding the new health centre now under construction. The project includes a major new avenue that will link the roundabout by Calle Ingenio and Puente Viejo with Avenida de Pescia on the old N-340. This new road, named after former mayor Gabriel Broncano, forms part of a wider development that also includes an underground car park with 847 spaces and a planned transport interchange. The scheme involves widening Calle Chíllar to allow two way traffic and installing full infrastructure such as pavements, lighting and water and rainwater networks. Once tender documents are completed, construction is expected to take twelve months.
– Separately, Nerja has expanded outdoor sports facilities in key tourist areas, installing equipment for activities such as calisthenics on the beaches of Burriana, El Chucho and El Playazo, on the La Torrecilla promenade, in Los Cangrejos and near the Enrique López Cuenca stadium. RINCÓN DE LA VICTORIA
A man arrested for the violent death of his 60-year-old ex-partner in Rincón de la Victoria: {Translation, summary}
– A 60-year-old woman was violently killed on Saturday morning in Rincón de la Victoria, Málaga. Her former partner has been arrested in connection with the death. Neighbours called 112 at 10.20 regarding a domestic dispute, prompting the Guardia Civil and Local Police to attend, along with the Andalusian Institute for Women. Officers discovered the woman’s body with signs of violence, and the case is being investigated as gender-based violence. Government Subdelegate Javier Salas confirmed that security forces are collecting information and that no prior reports exist in the Viogén monitoring system. The Guardia Civil established a security operation, temporarily blocking the area. The body was transferred to the Institute of Legal Medicine at 14.10. She would be Spain’s 39th gender-based violence victim this year. The names and nationalities of the those involved were not disclosed. Tennis News- Berrettini puts Italy on verge of third straight Davis Cup triumph after beating Spain’s Pablo Carreno Busta 6-3, 6-4: {Summary}
– Asturian Pablo Carreño lost to Matteo Berrettini (6-3, 6-4) on Saturday in the first match of the Davis Cup final between Spain and Italy (1-0), which is being played in Bologna (Italy). In a match that lasted one hour and 19 minutes, the Gijón native, ranked 89th in the world, was unable to break his opponent’s serve, who did not concede a single break point and took advantage of a break in each of the two sets played to take the first point of the tie.
– Later on Sunday, Flavio Cobolli has the opportunity to secure a third consecutive victory for Italy when he faces Jaume Munar. If Munar manages to level the tie for Spain (who are without world number one Carlos Alcaraz through injury), then Italian pair Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori will play Marcel Granollers and Pedro Martinez in the deciding doubles match. Gmail Snoop Alert– Google has quietly started accessing Gmail users’ private emails and attachments to train its AI models, requiring manual opt-out to avoid participation:
– Malwarebytes reports that Google has recently implemented changes that enable Gmail to access all private messages and attachments for the purpose of training its AI models. This means that unless users take action to opt out, their emails could be analysed to improve Google’s AI assistants, such as Smart Compose or AI-generated replies.
– While Google assures strong privacy measures are in place, such as data anonymization and security during the AI training process, those handling sensitive or confidential information may find little comfort in these promises.
– To fully opt out of Gmail’s AI training, users must change settings in two separate locations. This article features a guide and images for opting out on desktop, but the selections are very similar if accessing Gmail via the mobile app.
– The rollout of this feature without clear, upfront consent has raised eyebrows among privacy advocates and security experts. By following these steps, you’ve taken the initiative to protect yourself and your loved ones from intrusive AI training practices. {Breaking Update, Monday, 1am: Google has responded. They say “Gmail does scan email content to power its own “smart features, such as spam filtering, categorisation, and writing suggestions. But this is part of how Gmail normally works and isn’t the same as training Google’s generative AI models.” However, as Google pays billions annually in fines for deceiving authorities and abusing user data, their comments must be taken with a few very large grains of salt. Malwarebytes reports many Gmail users have documented the original claims, disputing Google’s response. -Ed.}

Forget Über-Liberal Wikipedia, Elon Envisions Grokipedia As Humanity’s Cosmic Knowledge Vault:
– Elon Musk’s Grokipedia, soon to be rebranded as Encyclopedia Galactica, is an ambitious project aiming to preserve and expand human knowledge for future civilizations. Powered by xAI’s Grok AI models, it serves as an open-source repository of text, audio, images, and video. Unlike Wikipedia’s crowd-sourced approach, Grokipedia uses AI to fact-check, correct half-truths, and fill knowledge gaps through first-principles reasoning, reducing bias and propaganda. Musk envisions it as a modern Library of Alexandria, with knowledge etched in microfont on stone and copies distributed across Earth, the Moon, Mars, and deep space. Early users praised its depth on niche topics, though initial release controversies prompted iterative improvements, including a simple “It’s Wrong” error-flagging tool. Musk positions Grokipedia as a foundational resource for AI understanding of the universe, surpassing Wikipedia in scope, accuracy, and longevity, and ensuring human knowledge survives disasters or cosmic events. CULTURAL REVOLUTION
Elon Musk’s Vision of the Future– Work Is ‘Optional,’ Money Is Irrelevant as AI and Robots Take Over Everything:
– Fortune reports that Tesla CEO Elon Musk has made a bold prediction about the future of work and money, stating that in the next 10 to 20 years, work will become optional, and money will lose its relevance. Speaking at the U.S.-Saudi Investment Forum in Washington, DC this week, Musk compared the decision to have a job in the future to maintaining a vegetable garden today, suggesting that people will only work if they choose to do so. Musk explained, “My prediction is that work will be optional. It’ll be like playing sports or a video game or something like that.”
– Musk attributes this future of optional work to the rise of millions of robots in the workforce, capable of ushering in a wave of enhanced productivity. Musk believes that in his job-voluntary future, money will no longer be an issue. He draws inspiration from Iain M. Banks’ Culture series of science fiction novels, which depict a post-scarcity world filled with superintelligent AI beings and no traditional jobs.
Musk remarked, “In those books, money doesn’t exist. It’s kind of interesting. And my guess is, if you go out long enough — assuming there’s a continued improvement in AI and robotics, which seems likely — money will stop being relevant.”
– At Viva Technology 2024, Musk suggested that “universal high income” would sustain a world without necessary work, though he did not offer details on how this system would function. His reasoning aligns with that of OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, who has advocated for universal basic income, or regular unconditional payments given to individuals, usually by the government. Spain, Croatia, Japan, Italy and ‘Fusion for Energy’ sign agreement to develop fusion energy in Granada: {Translation, summary}
– Spain has signed the International Multilateral DONES Agreement (MIDA) with Croatia, Japan, Italy, and Fusion for Energy to develop fusion energy at the particle accelerator in Escúzar, Granada. (Current nuclear reactors use fission, not fusion.) The IFMIF-DONES Spain Consortium, including the Spanish and Andalusian research ministries, formalised the agreement with international partners to consolidate collaboration on fusion technologies.
– Fusion energy, considered clean, safe, sustainable, and virtually limitless, will be advanced through a comprehensive framework for decision-making, resource allocation, and transparent governance. Signatories include leading figures from Spain, F4E, Croatia, Japan, and Italy, reflecting a firm commitment to accelerate fusion development.
– IFMIF-DONES, the world’s unique facility for neutron testing of materials for future reactors like DEMO, represents scientific, economic, and social progress, creating skilled employment and technological growth. The total investment is 800 million euros, with Spain funding 55% of construction, demonstrating leadership in global fusion research and supporting the country’s green and digital transition. More than 300 kidnapped from Catholic school in Nigeria: {Summary of 2 articles}
– More than 300 students and staff were kidnapped from a Nigerian school, reports say. The students taken were male and female and between ages 10 and 18.
– It’s the second mass abduction of school students this week in the West African coastal nation. The incident occurred after more than 20 Muslim schoolgirls were kidnapped Monday from a different boarding school in the neighbouring Kebbi state. A church was also attacked further south, in Kwara state, with two people killed and 38 others abducted.
– According to police, the pupils were taken when armed “bandits” stormed the St. Mary’s School in Papiri and forced students out of their hostel sleeping space. Local police said armed men stormed the school at around 02:00 local time (01:00 GMT) on Friday morning, abducting students who were staying there. Boarding schools already were closed by state authorities in a large part of the country due to concern over rising security threats following a renewed string of attacks by militant groups.

– Nigeria, Nov 23 (Reuters) – Fifty of the more than 300 students kidnapped from a Nigerian Catholic school last week have escaped and have been reunited with their parents, the Catholic Church and Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) said on Sunday. However around 253 of those kidnapped, including 12 staff members and teachers, are still with the kidnappers, said CAN chairman Bulus Yohanna, a Catholic Bishop who is also the proprietor of the school. In a statement, Yohanna said the pupils escaped between Friday and Saturday. Parents rushed to the school in Niger state, to the west of the capital Abuja, after hearing that some children had escaped.
