ANNUAL HOLIDAY FUNDRAISER
I can only produce DigameXtra with the financial support of my readers. Once a year, during the year end holidays, I do an 8 week fundraiser to help pay production expenses throughout the whole year. This year’s goal is to receive donations from 4% of subscribers. This “4% Club” finances DigameXtra for the 96% group that don’t donate. Which group will you belong to? The generosity of the 4% Club members is greatly appreciated.
Just like your morning coffee,
what would you do
without your morning DigameXtra?
– Holiday Donation Info, 2 Methods –
DigameXtra subscribers must donate at least €20 (39 cents per week) to gain annual submission posting privileges.
#1. You may drop cash donations off in person and say hello, by appointment, or place them in my mailbox beside my door anytime. Please be sure to include your name on the envelope so I can put you on the list of subscribers with submission posting privileges for 2025-2026! Due to health reasons, unannounced drop-ins are inconvenient for me. But if I am expecting you, no problem! My mailbox has the name HARRIS on it. Email me for map and directions. Cash donations are strongly preferred.
#2. Alternatively, you may send me an Amazon ES (Spain) “eGift card” by email. You need to have an Amazon.es account. The only info you need is my email address and your name (the sender’s name). Remember, this is an “eGift card” you buy that Amazon.es emails directly to me, don’t buy a plain “gift card”. Use the link provided below to access the “eGift card” purchase page.
PLEASE DO NOT SEND AMAZON UK eGIFT CARDS. NO BANK TRANSFERS OR PAYMENT APPS.
Here is the Amazon.es eGift Card Link, (NOTE: YOU CAN CHOOSE ANY AMOUNT YOU LIKE ON THE FORM, THE DEFAULT IS €60):
https://www.amazon.es/Cheques-Regalo-Amazon-es-mail-Amazon/dp/B07SS5PFJK/?th=1&gpo=60
On the eGift card purchase form, enter the DigameXtra email as the recipient, as shown below in Spanish and with English translation.
Para/For : digamextra@protonmail.com
Please do not ask me about gaining posting privileges by making small donations of under €20, several times a year. Several people promised to do that for each of the last two annual fundraisers, and not a single one followed up.
Total Donations Received As Of Today: 38
Target, 4% of subscribers = 200 donations

Concern among judges over the government’s “attack” after the conviction of the attorney general: {Translation, summary}
– The Francisco de Vitoria Judicial Association (AJFV) and Independent Judicial Forum (FJI) expressed deep concern over political leaders’ statements, including from government members, regarding the conviction of State Prosecutor General Álvaro García Ortiz. They view insinuations of judicial bias as unacceptable pressure on the judiciary, endangering separation of powers. Judicial independence guarantees impartial resolutions for citizens, free from political interests.
– The associations decry these remarks as direct attacks on core rule-of-law principles in Spain and the EU. They urge institutional responsibility to foster respect, warning that unfounded questioning erodes public trust in justice. Labelling judges or implying political motivations ignores that rulings follow law alone, per Constitution article 117.1. Dissenting votes reflect legal diversity, not ideology, with full procedural safeguards. Legal critique is valid, but institutional discrediting harms democracy. The PP demands explanations from Sánchez after Koldo revealed that the president’s father-in-law contributed “100,000 euros for the primaries”: {Translation, summary}
– The PP has demanded explanations from Pedro Sánchez after former adviser Koldo García {pic} claimed that the prime minister’s father in law contributed 100,000 euros to Sánchez’s primary campaign. The PP recalls that Sánchez told the Senate inquiry he did not know whether his father in law had financed either his primaries or the PSOE, responding with evasions such as I do not know or I do not remember.
– Several PP figures argue that García’s statements confirm that the money came from the sauna business operated by Sánchez’s late father in law, which they describe as linked to prostitution, and they claim this makes Sánchez a beneficiary of dubious activities. Miguel Tellado and Cuca Gamarra both accused Sánchez of rising to power through cheating and concealment, while Ester Muñoz called the primaries rigged. Alicia García said the alleged donations show Sánchez’s political ascent was based on deception and is now beginning to crumble. The judge sends Ábalos and Koldo García to provisional detention without bail due to the “extreme” risk of flight: {Translation, summary}
– Supreme Court judge Leopoldo Puente has ordered José Luis Ábalos and Koldo García {pic} into provisional prison without bail, citing an extreme risk of flight and strong indications of serious offences. Previous measures, such as passport withdrawal and fortnightly court appearances, are now deemed insufficient. Ábalos becomes the first serving deputy to enter prison while keeping his seat, and Congress will be formally notified.
– The judge identifies three reasons for imprisonment: their formal indictment in early November, the severe charges and lengthy prison terms sought by prosecutors, and the fact that Ábalos’s parliamentary status means the trial will take place within months, limiting the duration of pre trial detention. Both defendants deny any intention to flee, but the judge believes they have resources and international contacts that could facilitate escape. Changing circumstances in the case, including its division into two parts and the advanced state of the mask procurement investigation, also support the decision. Feijóo calls for a rally ‘without party affiliations’ this Sunday against Sánchez’s “degradation”– ‘He is the bad apple.’: {Translation}
– The PP has once again called on citizens to fill the streets over the Government’s judicial scandals. Specifically, the party president, Alberto Núñez Feijóo {pic}, has summoned a civic, non partisan gathering this Sunday at the Temple of Debod in Madrid at 12.00 in defence of Spain. The Government is calling on Spaniards to protest against the judges; I am calling them to protest against the corrupt, he declared, while accusing Pedro Sánchez of being the rotten apple that has spoiled everyone around him.
– This is how the PP leader announced it from the party’s national headquarters, after the news broke that former socialist minister José Luis Ábalos and his former adviser Koldo García had been sent to prison without bail. The political responsibility for this entire degradation lies with Mr Sánchez, because neither his party nor his circle could have committed these acts without his amorality, he concluded. Congress overturns the government’s deficit path with an absolute majority against, again delaying the long overdue budget: {Translation, summary}
– Congress has once again rejected the Government’s proposed budgetary stability and public debt targets for 2026 to 2028. PP, Vox, Junts and UPN voted against, while PSOE, Sumar, ERC, Bildu, PNV, Canary Coalition and BNG supported the plan. Podemos and the Compromís deputy Águeda Micó abstained. This is the fifth failed attempt of the current term to approve the deficit path, previously blocked either by the PP in the Senate or by Junts distancing itself from the Government’s parliamentary bloc.
– Despite the defeat, the Ministry of Finance intends to resubmit the same targets shortly. If they are rejected again, the Government will still move forward with the 2026 Budget by relying on the stability framework already sent to the European Commission in 2024 under the new EU fiscal rules. This fallback option, endorsed by the State Legal Service, reduces spending capacity for regional governments. Abascal advises putting Ábalos and Koldo in witness protection– “We don’t know what Sánchez’s mafia is capable of”: {Translation, summary}
– The leader of Vox, Santiago Abascal {pic}, recommended on Thursday that the former minister José Luis Ábalos and his former adviser Koldo García enter the witness protection programme because it is not known what the mafia is capable of, which in his view is led by the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez. “We wish that Spaniards and also Socialist voters know that the only thing we want is for Mr Sánchez to be able to have a fair trial and, by the way, for Mr Ábalos and Mr Koldo to be able to enjoy a witness protection programme because we do not know what Sánchez’s mafia is capable of,” he said.
– “Today we see Mr Ábalos on his way to prison and stating that Mr Sánchez lied in a parliamentary investigation committee. And today we also know, from the statements we have heard, that Mr Sánchez seized the General Secretariat of the PSOE, not only covering up ballot boxes, but using money from his father in law’s prostitution venues, which was laundered through vulnerable immigrants,” the Vox leader summarised.
– Despite everything, he asked people not to deceive themselves because, from his point of view, all these situations of corruption and betrayal do not do too much damage to Pedro Sánchez. “He lies, and he knows that we all know that he lies, but he keeps power. And he does so thanks to his storm troopers from Bildu, thanks to many of the pawns he has placed in RTVE and thanks to the violence that others commit and are willing to commit,” he added. In this context, he warned of the difficulty that, in his view, exists for Spain to have free elections and clean elections while Sánchez remains in power.
– For this reason, he appealed to the responsibility of the opposition which, in his opinion, can only be to break all links, contact, dialogue and agreement with the corrupt power of Sánchez and report it in the courts and international bodies so that it is known exactly what Sánchez’s mafia is. “Vox have done so and we hope that other political groups may join,” he stressed. On whether it would be appropriate for the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, to present a motion of no confidence, Abascal underlined that, regardless of whether it is won or lost, the opposition has the duty to use all tools to expose the Government, its investiture partners and those who say that they have withdrawn their support and seem not to have withdrawn it. Source, Spanish: https://www.europapress.es/nacional/noticia-abascal-aconseja-meter-abalos-koldo-proteccion-testigos-no-sabe-capaz-mafia-sanchez-20251127141410.html
MALAGA PROVINCE
The PP accuses Sánchez and Montero of not prioritising the control of inflation and points to the “fiscal voracity” of the Executive: {Translation, summary}
– Conde criticised the “Fiscal voracity without limits” of the Socialist Government and pointed out that this tax policy is used to compensate for the lack of General State Budget from 2023
– Carlos Conde {pic}, Deputy Secretary of Málaga Productiva for the PP, accused the government of Pedro Sánchez and María Jesús Montero of lacking interest in controlling inflation, claiming the Treasury keeps most of the revenue generated by rising prices. He said this “fiscal voracity” replaces proper state budgets, absent since 2023. Conde urged for income tax adjustments to restore families’ purchasing power. He noted Málaga’s inflation reached 3.4 percent in September, above the national rate, and that tax collection in 2024 exceeded 5.5 billion euros, rising by 20 percent in early 2025. Despite Málaga’s strong fiscal contribution, he criticised the lack of state investment. Conde condemned new tax hikes, including those on the self-employed—up to 2,500 euros—as harmful to households and local enterprise. He labelled constant tax increases the “modus operandi of sanchismo” and evidence of systemic mismanagement. Source, Spanish: https://www.andaluciainformacion.es/articulo/…

VÉLEZ-MÁLAGA
Vélez-Málaga Advances Historic Water Supply Project to Connect El Trapiche and Improve Municipal Infrastructure: {Translation, summary}
– Vélez-Málaga Town Hall has advanced the connection of El Trapiche to the municipal water network, fulfilling a demand residents have made for over fifty years. The works, managed by the Department of Infrastructure and executed by Aqualia with an investment of 220,000 euros, began last week and are scheduled for three months. Key progress includes the closure of the supply ring, a 63-millimetre pipe installation, and a chamber for valves and a totaliser. Homes near the existing reservoir are also being upgraded. Following consultations with residents, the project was extended to the entrance monument, ensuring broader coverage and improved efficiency.
– Councillors emphasised that this initiative provides regulated, controlled water with sufficient pressure for all homes and forms part of a wider strategy to reinforce supply across the municipality. Similar works in Loma del Sapo, La Rabia, Los Toscanos and the upcoming Benajarafe Alto settlement illustrate a systematic approach to resolving long-standing water infrastructure issues. Vélez-Málaga settles the 2024 budget with a positive surplus of 9.5 million and saves almost two million in interest: {Translation, summary}
– The bipartite PP–GIPMTM administration in Vélez-Málaga has approved the closure of the 2024 budget, revealing a positive treasury surplus of 9.54 million euros, a sign of improved municipal financial health. Part of this surplus will be used to repay early a 15 year loan of 8.65 million euros, reducing debt and eliminating long-term interest costs. The early repayment is expected to save nearly 1.92 million euros in interest, with each euro saved redirected to public investment and benefits for local families. The average payment period to suppliers has improved to 48.36 days, compared with over 150 days in previous terms, demonstrating enhanced efficiency and stability.
– The Town Hall emphasises that these measures reflect responsible financial management rather than merely fulfilling accounting obligations. By freeing future resources, the municipality gains greater flexibility for planning, investment and essential projects, consolidating its path towards stronger and more balanced economic stability. ALMERIA
The Civil Guard finds weapons, works of art and money hidden in garages during the searches of the Masks case in Almeria: {Translation, summary}
– The UCO of the Guardia Civil uncovered weapons, cash and concealed artworks during searches linked to the alleged corruption network investigated in the Mascarillas case in the Almería Provincial Council. At the home of former vice president Fernando Giménez, officers found a cardboard box containing a pistol considered presumably prohibited. Five undocumented shotguns were located in the warehouse of GESA Andalucía 2004 S.L., a company connected to the former mayor of Fines and his son, leading to a separate case for unlawful possession of weapons. A high value sculpture by Antonio López was found hidden in the garage of former council president Javier Aureliano García and placed under judicial custody. Cash also appeared repeatedly, including 7,620 euros with a note stating it belonged to García and envelopes marked 10,000 euros in company offices. Latest generation Apple phones, some unused, were also seized, indicating a high standard of living. CSIF warns of collapse of Nuclear Medicine in the Regional Hospital of Malaga– more than 1,200 pending tests: {Translation, summary}
– CSIF denounces a care collapse in Málaga Regional Hospital’s Nuclear Medicine unit, with over 1,200 gammacamera and PET tests pending due to insufficient staff, plus 200 unprocessed appointments. Only six of ten needed technicians cover shifts, leading to room closures and cancellations.
– Thirty percent of backlog involves urgent oncological PET scans for chemotherapy monitoring, with waits up to seven months for other tests affecting cancer, neurology and vascular patients. Workers face psychosocial strain and intimidation over pay supplements. Despite repeated complaints, no effective hiring has occurred amid rising overload. CSIF demands immediate vacancy filling, absence cover and staffing aligned to demand, calling the situation unacceptable for public health. SOCIAL MEDIA
The First Step Toward Requiring ID Confirmation To Use Social Media Networks Begins With Children– European Parliament calls for social media restrictions for under 16s:
– The European Parliament has decided TikTok, YouTube, Instagram and other social media platforms should only be permitted from the age of 16. A clear majority of members of the European Parliament (MEPs) voted in favour of calling for an EU-wide minimum age on Wednesday. According to a statement from the Parliament, 13 to 16-year-olds should only be allowed access with their parents’ consent.
– The adopted report, which is not yet binding, also calls for more to be done to combat addictive factors and manipulative strategies. MEPs expressed concern about the dangers to the physical and mental health of minors on the internet, and decided the rules should therefore also apply to video platforms and Artificial Intelligence (AI) companions.
– In mid-October, the leaders of the EU member states also spoke out in favour of age limits on platforms such as TikTok, Facebook and others – but did not want to hand over their national responsibilities to Brussels. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen had originally given new impetus to the debate with her call for an age limit on social media. A group of experts is to advise on the best course of action for Europe by the end of the year.
– Von der Leyen cited Australia as a possible model. The country had recently extended its social media ban for children under the age of 16.
– The EU is already working on the technical requirements for age restrictions. The European Commission is developing a verification app for the protection of minors. The goal is the creation of reliable age verification systems for content that is not suitable for children and young people.
– At the same time, several countries, including Spain, are participating in a pilot project to develop a European Platform able to verify the Actual age of users who connect to social networks from mobile devices. MEPs welcome this progress but insist that such systems must ensure the privacy and regulatory compliance of data protection of minors.
