ANNUAL HOLIDAY FUNDRAISER

 I can only produce DigameXtra with the financial support of my readers. Once a year, during the year end holidays, I do an 8 week fundraiser to help pay production expenses throughout the whole year. This year’s goal is to receive donations from 4% of subscribers. This “4% Club” finances DigameXtra for the 96% group that don’t donate. Which group will you belong to? The generosity of the 4% Club members is greatly appreciated.

Just like your morning coffee,
what would you do
without your morning DigameXtra?

– Holiday Donation Info, 2 Methods –

DigameXtra subscribers must donate at least €20 (39 cents per week) to gain annual submission posting privileges.

#1. You may drop cash donations off in person and say hello, by appointment, or place them in my mailbox beside my door anytime. Please be sure to include your name on the envelope so I can put you on the list of subscribers with submission posting privileges for 2025-2026! Due to health reasons, unannounced drop-ins are inconvenient for me. But if I am expecting you, no problem! My mailbox has the name HARRIS on it. Email me for map and directions. Cash donations are strongly preferred.
#2. Alternatively, you may send me an Amazon ES (Spain) “eGift card” by email. You need to have an Amazon.es account. The only info you need is my email address and your name (the sender’s name). Remember, this is an “eGift card” you buy that Amazon.es emails directly to me, don’t buy a plain “gift card”. Use the link provided below to access the “eGift card” purchase page.
PLEASE DO NOT SEND AMAZON UK eGIFT CARDS. NO BANK TRANSFERS OR PAYMENT APPS.
Here is the Amazon.es eGift Card Link, (NOTE: YOU CAN CHOOSE ANY AMOUNT YOU LIKE ON THE FORM, THE DEFAULT IS €60):
https://www.amazon.es/Cheques-Regalo-Amazon-es-mail-Amazon/dp/B07SS5PFJK/?th=1&gpo=60
On the eGift card purchase form, enter the DigameXtra email as the recipient, as shown below in Spanish and with English translation.
Para/For : digamextra@protonmail.com

Please do not ask me about gaining posting privileges by making small donations of under €20, several times a year. Several people promised to do that for each of the last two annual fundraisers, and not a single one followed up.

Total Donations Received As Of Today: 57

Target, 4% of subscribers = 200 donations

SPAIN

Another PSOE Scandal– Leire Díez and the former president of SEPI Vicente Fernández arrested for alleged irregularities in public contracts: {Translation, summary}
– The Civil Guard has arrested this Wednesday the alleged plumber (someone who arranges or “cleans up” situations) of the PSOE Leire Díez {pic} and the former president of the State Society of Industrial Participations (SEPI) Vicente Fernández by order of the Central Court of Instruction number 6 of the National Court. According to EFE and confirmed to this newspaper by legal sources, both have been arrested in the framework of a case that is being kept under summary secrecy and that addresses alleged irregularities in SEPI contracts.
– As reported eldiario.es, Díez and Fernández are accused of crimes of fraud, forgery of documents, embezzlement, influence peddling and prevarication. Source, Spanish: https://www.20minutos.es/nacional/detenida-exmilitante-socialista-leire-diez_6908843_0.html

The PP sees the government as ‘in decay’ following the arrest of Leire Díez and asserts that the PSOE ‘will be completely wiped out’ in 2027: {Translation, summary}
– PP spokesperson Ester Muñoz {pic} has criticised the Spanish Government, describing it as “in disarray” following the arrest of Leire Díez, the alleged “plumber” of the Socialist Party, and former SEPI president Vicente Fernández. She also commented on the resignation of José Tomé, president of the Diputación of Lugo, over sexual harassment accusations. Muñoz remarked that by 2027, the Socialist Party would be “nothing more than scraps” due to ongoing arrests.
– The arrests of Díez and Fernández were made by the Civil Guard in connection with alleged irregularities in public contracts within SEPI. Muñoz warned that the Socialist Party’s downward trajectory would continue, asserting that the Government is “slowly fading away” and unable to resist ongoing revelations. She also criticised the PSOE for using internal channels to suppress harassment claims, accusing the party of failing women and damaging feminist causes.

Supreme Court Upholds Prosecution of Ex-Minister Ábalos and Adviser García Over Mask Contract Scandal: {Translation, summary}
The Supreme Court’s Appeals Chamber has confirmed the decision to prosecute former Transport Minister José Luis Ábalos and ex-adviser Koldo García for alleged irregularities in mask contracts awarded during the pandemic. Judges dismissed their appeals against a November ruling proposing charges of bribery, organised crime, influence peddling, and embezzlement. Judge Puente believes they exploited Ábalos’ ministerial position for financial gain. The prosecution seeks 24 years for Ábalos, 19 and a half years for Koldo, and seven years for businessman Víctor de Aldama. Both the prosecution and popular accusations requested provisional detention for Ábalos and Koldo due to the high penalties, with both being sent to prison on 28 November. ANDALUCÍA

Apdha regrets the 57% increase in the number of homeless people in Andalucia over the last two years: {Translation, summary}
– The Pro Human Rights Association (Apdha) in Andalusia has released its “Poverty South Report 2025: Homeless and Invisible to All,” highlighting the alarming rise in homelessness in the region. The report stresses that the number of homeless people has increased by 57% in two years, with many remaining invisible due to public policies that prioritise hiding them rather than providing adequate care. The report criticises the lack of resources, architectural barriers, and harsh police actions against the homeless.
– The profile of homeless individuals has shifted since the 2007 economic crisis, with many who never imagined homelessness now living on the streets. Apdha calls for greater transparency from local governments, pointing out that most centres for the homeless are private and underfunded. The report also highlights severe poverty affecting families, renters, and unemployed individuals, exacerbated by rising rents and the precarious job market. MIJAS

Five arrested for the kidnapping and murder of a man in Mijas (Málaga) to steal his crypto assets: {Translation, summary}
– Five individuals have been arrested by the National Police for the kidnapping of a couple in Mijas (Malaga) and the murder of the man, who was killed after being held captive in an attempt to steal their cryptocurrency assets. With the help of Danish authorities, four more suspects have been charged, two of whom are already in prison for similar crimes.
– In April, the couple was attacked, and the man shot in the leg while attempting to escape. The captors held them for several hours while attempting to access their digital wallets. The woman was released at midnight, but her partner’s body was later found in a wooded area, showing signs of violence. The woman reported that the attackers wore black, gloves, and balaclavas, and were armed. The police carried out arrests and searches in Madrid and Malaga, finding weapons, bloodstained clothing, and electronic devices. BENALMÁDENA

Daytime Home Invasion– Hooded men tie up a woman and her daughter in the assault on their home in Benalmádena: {Translation, summary}
– The National Police are investigating a violent assault on a home in Benalmádena. A woman and her 18-year-old daughter have been handcuffed and assaulted in their home by two hooded men who seized all the valuables they found in the property. The events took place on the afternoon of this Friday, December 6, in the area of Arroyo de la Miel. The woman was at home with her daughter – who was in her room – when there was a knock on the door. She thought it was a parcel delivery man and opened it.
– On the other side of the doorway, hooded men appeared and pushed the door and broke into the house. Apparently, the woman fainted due to the impression made on her by the scene, a circumstance that the intruders took advantage of to tie her hands without her offering resistance.
– The daughter realized that something was happening and tried to lock herself in her room, which did not prevent the criminals from forcing the door, accessing the room and reducing the young woman, who is around 18 years old. The two women were assaulted – fortunately, they did not suffer serious injuries, although they were beaten – and held against their will by the assailants while they searched the house in search of valuables.
– The ‘kidnapping’ of the two women ended because the mother regained consciousness and went out to the landing of the stairs of the building and asked for help from the neighbours she found, to whom she told that her daughter and she were being held by hooded men. The criminals realized that the woman had escaped and hurriedly fled, leaving the daughter locked in the house. Shortly afterwards she was able to be freed from her bonds.
– According to the sources consulted, the hooded men seized several pieces of jewellery, most of them gold, as well as 1,400 euros that the family had in cash inside the property. The police are investigating possible crimes of illegal detention, injuries and robbery with violence. At the moment, there have been no arrests. https://www.diariosur.es/sucesos/encapuchados-maniatan-mujer-hija-asalto-casa-benalmadena-20251209012403-nt_amp.html

GRANADA

Doing this route of just 12 kilometres allows you to cross tunnels, caves and up to four suspension bridges: {Translation, summary}
– Los Cahorros de Monachil is a famous hiking route in Granada, Andalusia, known for its stunning natural beauty and thrilling features. Located just 20 minutes from Granada, the trail offers a mix of adventure and tranquillity, accessible to most. The route leads through a deep canyon carved by the Monachil River, with remarkable highlights including tunnels, caves, narrow passages, and up to four hanging bridges. The longest of these bridges stretches 63 metres, suspended 15 metres above the river. The circular route is 12 km long and takes around 3.5 hours to complete, with a moderate difficulty level, while an easier, shorter option is also available.
– The hike offers scenic views, including of the Chorreras Spring, the Chorreras Bridge, and other natural landmarks. The trail is ideal for visiting year-round, though spring and autumn are recommended for their mild temperatures. After hiking, the village of Monachil offers traditional mountain cuisine and the unique experience of staying in cave houses. HEALTH

What Are They Hiding? Mammogate was the tip of the iceberg– Andalucia Parliament, with an PP absolute majority, overturns proposal signed by all opposition groups for the Junta to publish the list of patients with an undiagnosed ailment, which the Ministry of Health has hidden since 2019– over 1.8 million patients waiting: {Translation, summary}
– The Andalusian Parliament, with the sole vote of the PP, rejected a proposal requiring the government to publish waiting lists for diagnostic tests, which have been hidden by the Andalusian Health Service (SAS) for seven years. Opposition groups, including Por Andalucía and Vox, linked this lack of transparency to the delayed breast cancer diagnoses crisis, but the issue extends far beyond cancer.
– The real problem is the opacity surrounding wait times for a variety of diagnostic tests after a patient sees a specialist. While citizens can access waiting lists for specialist appointments and surgeries, they remain in the dark about how long it takes for diagnostic tests to be carried out, results sent to specialists, and diagnoses made.
– The government has refused to update this data since June 2018, despite previous biannual updates. The Covid-19 pandemic exacerbated the situation, further straining the healthcare system. Many patients are now waiting for diagnosis across various medical conditions, not just cancer. Opposition groups argue that the government’s refusal to release this information hides the true scale of delays. While some regions have resumed publishing waiting list data, Andalusia continues to withhold it, leaving patients and healthcare workers frustrated.
– Around 800,000 patients are on the waiting list to be seen by a specialist. Approximately 200,000 patients are waiting for surgical procedures. The waiting list for diagnostic tests, which includes tests like mammograms, MRIs, colonoscopies, ultrasounds, and blood tests, is not publicly disclosed, but the 2026 Regional Budget estimates that 1,075,445 Andalusians will be referred to private healthcare for diagnostic tests in 2026, nearly double the current figure of 650,000 for this year.
– These numbers highlight the scale of the issue—millions of people in Andalusia are waiting for various types of medical care, with some of them experiencing significant delays, particularly in diagnostic procedures. While the exact number of patients waiting for diagnoses (not yet on surgery lists) is unclear, the overall waiting game involves over 1.8 million patients (if we include the specialist and surgery waiting lists), and it will only grow if the backlog in diagnostic testing continues.
