ANNUAL HOLIDAY FUNDRAISER

 I can only produce DigameXtra with the financial support of my readers. Once a year, during the year end holidays, I do an 8 week fundraiser to help pay production expenses throughout the whole year. This year’s goal is to receive donations from 4% of subscribers. This “4% Club” finances DigameXtra for the 96% group that don’t donate. Which group will you belong to? The generosity of the 4% Club members is greatly appreciated.

Just like your morning coffee,
what would you do
without your morning DigameXtra?

– Holiday Donation Info, 2 Methods –

DigameXtra subscribers must donate at least €20 (39 cents per week) to gain annual submission posting privileges.

#1. You may drop cash donations off in person and say hello, by appointment, or place them in my mailbox beside my door anytime. Please be sure to include your name on the envelope so I can put you on the list of subscribers with submission posting privileges for 2025-2026! Due to health reasons, unannounced drop-ins are inconvenient for me. But if I am expecting you, no problem! My mailbox has the name HARRIS on it. Email me for map and directions. Cash donations are strongly preferred.
#2. Alternatively, you may send me an Amazon ES (Spain) “eGift card” by email. You need to have an Amazon.es account. The only info you need is my email address and your name (the sender’s name). Remember, this is an “eGift card” you buy that Amazon.es emails directly to me, don’t buy a plain “gift card”. Use the link provided below to access the “eGift card” purchase page.
PLEASE DO NOT SEND AMAZON UK eGIFT CARDS. NO BANK TRANSFERS OR PAYMENT APPS.
Here is the Amazon.es eGift Card Link, (NOTE: YOU CAN CHOOSE ANY AMOUNT YOU LIKE ON THE FORM, THE DEFAULT IS €60):
https://www.amazon.es/Cheques-Regalo-Amazon-es-mail-Amazon/dp/B07SS5PFJK/?th=1&gpo=60
On the eGift card purchase form, enter the DigameXtra email as the recipient, as shown below in Spanish and with English translation.
Para/For : digamextra@protonmail.com

Please do not ask me about gaining posting privileges by making small donations of under €20, several times a year. Several people promised to do that for each of the last two annual fundraisers, and not a single one followed up.

Total Donations Received As Of Today: 111

Target, 4% of subscribers = 200 donations

SPAIN

Spain Calls for European Union Army to Reduce Dependence on Trump’s America:
– The socialist government of Spain has argued that a European Union Army has become necessary to reduce the bloc’s dependence on the United States for its defence.
– In an interview with Spanish news agency EFE, Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares {pic} said that in the wake of the toppling and capture of Venezuelan socialist dictator Nicolás Maduro and the ongoing war of words between Washington and Europe over the ownership of Greenland, it is clear that President Trump is embarking on “an attempt to change the rules of the international order.”
– Therefore, the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party politician argued that Europe needs to remind itself “of its own strength”. To do this, Albares argued, needs to “move towards a European army” so as to provide its own defence “without depending on third parties” such as the United States. {Albares is a socialist career diplomat who has never served a day of military service. He knows more about formal dining protocols than he knows about being a soldier! -Ed.} Full article: https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2026/01/11/spain-calls-for-european-union-army-to-reduce-dependence-on-trumps-america/ & https://www.exteriores.gob.es/en/Ministerio/Ministro/Paginas/index.aspx

Ten tonnes of cocaine on a cargo ship captured near Tenerife, the largest cache of cocaine ever seized in Europe: {Translation, summary}
– Operation White Tide resulted in the seizure of ten tonnes of cocaine carried by a ship captured in waters near the Canary Islands, making this the most significant interception of its kind in Europe and the fourth largest in the world in history.
– Never before had such an amount of cocaine been intercepted on the high seas near the Canaries or Europe. In addition to this European record, it is the third or fourth largest shipment globally, after some seizures in the Pacific or the Caribbean.
– The import was planned by a conglomerate of criminal organisations, though the main leaders are Serbian citizens. Thirteen individuals were arrested. According to the National Police, seven are Indian, four Turkish and two Serbian. The Serbians acted as guarantors for transporting the drugs, which were to supply various criminal organisations. The vessel had departed with its illicit cargo from waters near Brazil. This seizure is more confirmation that the Canary Islands have become a major strategic hub for international drug trafficking, especially cocaine imports. The Belgian justice system has seized 482.4 million euros from Spain’s account at Eurocontrol for non-payment of renewable energy awards: {Translation, summary}
– Spain’s repeated refusal to pay international arbitration awards for retroactive renewable energy subsidy cuts has seriously damaged its credibility, scaring away investors and creating legal embarrassments.
– Belgium has just seized 482.4 million euros owed to Spain by Eurocontrol to guarantee Spain’s payments to claimants such as the US fund Blaskett in ongoing lawsuits. Similar seizures have already occurred, including 32 million euros in July 2024, and two further 2025 seizures totalling over 180 million euros. By December 2025, Spain owes 1.75 billion euros plus nearly 300 million euros in interest to 27 affected companies.
– Critics highlight that Spain’s persistent defaults, delays and reliance on international legal loopholes make it appear an unreliable investment destination, undermining confidence in the country’s financial and regulatory stability. ANDALUCÍA

Andalucia demands more than 100 measures from the government for the electricity grid, at a cost of €365 million: {Translation, summary}
– The regional government of Andalucia has criticised the central government’s draft plan for the electricity transmission network as disappointing and as perpetuating a long standing grievance against the region. Formal objections have been submitted, arguing that the proposal is clearly insufficient for a community that starts from a position of disadvantage yet contributes significantly to national renewable energy production.
– According to the regional minister for Industry, Energy and Mining, the state plan for the 2025 to 2030 period allocates Andalucia less than 12 per cent of total national investment, amounting to 960 million euros, much of which relates to previously unexecuted projects. Of the 111 actions requested two years ago, only 25 were approved. Following consultations with the energy sector, the regional government has identified 119 major projects that would not be viable under the current planning framework and is demanding the inclusion of 102 new interventions. These include new power lines, substations, transformers and additional grid access points to support industrial demand, renewable generation, green hydrogen projects and future data centres.
– The regional executive warns that failure to address these needs would restrict economic development and further widen existing territorial inequalities. MALAGA PROVINCE

Disguised with latex masks and wigs- five arrested after a network dedicated to robbing luxury homes in Malaga is dismantled: {Translation, summary}
– The Civil Guard has dismantled a criminal gang involved in burglaries targeting high value homes in the province of Malaga. As part of Operation “Despropósito”, five individuals have been arrested and a further 11 are under investigation. The group selected victims with significant financial means, followed them to identify their homes and then carried out burglaries, stealing valuable items. To avoid identification, the suspects used latex masks and wigs.
– Investigators discovered that the organisation operated from several properties in Marbella and Mijas, which were searched during the operation. Police seized firearms, ammunition, stolen luxury vehicles, false number plates, high end watches and nearly 40,000 euros in cash. The total value of the recovered items exceeded 80,000 euros and has been returned to the owners. The operation was conducted by officers from the Civil Guard’s main post in Mijas and represents a significant blow against organised property crime in the area. MALAGA CITY

Lumps, pain and masks- the owner of a network of aesthetic clinics that illegally injected hyaluronic acid into the lips arrested in Malaga: {Translation, summary}
– A Civil Guard investigation has uncovered an illegal network supplying hyaluronic acid lip treatments without medical qualifications. A well known influencer and owner of an aesthetic clinic in an affluent area of Madrid was arrested at Malaga airport, while three other women who run clinics in Madrid, Marbella and Pamplona are under investigation for offences against public health and professional intrusion. None of them is a doctor, as required by law.
– The treatments were promoted as painless, immediate and needle free, but were carried out using an unregulated and illegal technique that injects hyaluronic acid at very high speed. Several women suffered serious side effects, including swelling, bruising, painful lumps and intense discomfort, with some requiring medical intervention to dissolve the substance. One young woman was warned by a doctor that the treatment could cause cell death and lip necrosis. The influencer also ran paid training courses across Spain and instructed followers on how to hide the substance during inspections. Investigators found significant numbers of procedures carried out at the clinics involved. MOTRIL

A drug sales point in Motril is dismantled with five arrests: {Translation}
– Following a lengthy investigation, the National Police arrested five people in the northern part of Motril on Friday after searching three homes on 9 January. The operation began at 7 a.m. and continued until approximately 10 a.m. Police sources have confirmed to GranadaDigital that around thirty uniformed officers and members of the Judicial Police from both Granada and Motril took part in the operation.
– The investigation remains open and could result in further arrests. A drug dealing operation was dismantled, with 85 grams of cocaine, 21 grams of heroin, a six-inch revolver and almost €37,000 in cash seized. The police have confirmed that those arrested (three men and two women) belong to a family clan. The first four were arrested initially, followed by a fifth person later. The investigation remains open. Source, Spanish: https://www.granadadigital.es/drogas-desmantelan-detenidos-motril/

SCAMS

Endesa alerts its customers to data theft, including banking details– three million customers’ data exposed: {Translation, summary}
– Endesa Energía has just alerted its customers to a ‘security incident’ that has ‘compromised the confidentiality of certain data’ for which the company is responsible. The cyberattack involved the theft of ‘contact details, national identity numbers, contract details and, in some cases, payment details (IBANs), although in no case has password access data been compromised’.
– Endesa has activated the established security protocols and procedures, as well as ‘all the technical and organisational measures necessary to contain it, mitigate its effects and prevent it from happening again in the future, thus allowing the detected incident to be contained immediately and satisfactorily and preventing unauthorised access’. These measures include, among others, ‘the immediate blocking of compromised access users and the analysis of log records.’ Likewise, special continuous monitoring of the systems is being carried out to detect any suspicious activity. ‘The investigation, both internally and with our suppliers, is ongoing in order to gain a full understanding of what happened and take any further action that may be necessary,’ the company announced.
– The malicious access could lead to attempts to usurp or impersonate your identity, publish such data with the corresponding loss of control over it, or use it to carry out phishing or spam attacks against you. Endesa therefore recommends that its customers pay ‘special attention to any suspicious communications they may receive in the coming days and report any anomalies or suspicions they may detect in this regard’. To this end, it has set up the following telephone number: 800 760 366 or via email:  contactodpo@endesa.es

FINANCIAL

Deduction for rent in Andalusia 2026- how to save up to €1,500 in personal income tax: {Translation, summary}
– The Junta de Andalucía has confirmed a change that many tenants expected: the deduction for renting a primary residence in the Personal Income Tax rises from January 1, 2026. Until now, taxpayers could deduct a maximum of 1,000 euros per year, but with the new measure this limit rises to 1,200 euros, and you will be able to reach 1,500 euros for people with disabilities. This initiative is part of a package of regional deductions approved in the 2026 budget, which seek to alleviate the tax burden of different groups and promote accessibility to housing.
– The deduction is aimed at a specific group of taxpayers: young people under 35 years of age, people over 65 years of age, and victims of gender violence or terrorism. If you meet any of these profiles, you will be able to benefit from direct savings in your personal income tax return, which makes this measure a tangible relief from the high rental prices recorded in many Andalusian provinces.
