Train Derailment Update- The entire rail system is flawed by design and a public risk! The Civil Guard confirms that the Adamuz rail broke 22 hours before the accident, and the incident was ‘registered’ but not ‘reported’ by the system: {Trans, summary}
– A report by the Civil Guard, submitted to the Court of First Instance in Montoro (Córdoba), confirms that the railway track rupture occurred 22 hours before the Iryo train derailment, an incident that caused a collision with an Alvia train in Adamuz on Sunday, January 18, resulting in the deaths of 46 people and injuries to more than 120. This document establishes the fracture of the rail or the weld as the primary line of investigation, ruling out acts of sabotage, terrorism, or negligence on the part of the train drivers.
– According to the report dated March 28, which Europa Press has accessed, the SAM (Maintenance Support System) signaling system detected a sudden voltage drop on the night of January 17, but it did not fall below the threshold required to trigger alerts. Therefore, no alarm was generated for maintenance personnel or the interlocking system. The document indicates that although the system registered an electrical disturbance consistent with a break hours before the incident, “the signaling system was not configured to automatically alert due to the unreliability of the method in this infrastructure.” This failure is also attributed to the fact that Adif, despite its specifications, did not require this detection capability. Vox insists that in the Adamuz accident there were “negligences” that “must have political and criminal consequences”: {Trans., summary}
– Ignacio Garriga {pic}, Secretary General of Vox, declared on Thursday that the Civil Guard report on the Adamuz railway accident in Cordoba confirms what most Spaniards knew and what Vox had already denounced. Speaking after a Vox meeting in Malaga, he highlighted a series of negligences by the Spanish Government that must carry both political and criminal consequences. The report reveals that track 22 was broken almost 22 hours before the Iryo train derailed and collided with an Alvia service on 18 January, killing 46 people and injuring over 120.
– Garriga stated that Vox had joined the legal case and would work to hold those responsible to account, including failures in safety protocols and track maintenance. He accused the PSOE of prioritising personal spending over essential rail upkeep and vowed that the party must face the consequences for the deaths caused by successive lapses in diligence. Vox remains committed to pursuing justice for the victims and their families. The government plans to approve the mass regularization of immigrants next Tuesday– Then come the court challenges: {Trans., summary}
– The Spanish Government’s reform of the Aliens Regulation for the mass regularisation of more than 500,000 immigrants is now ready for approval. According to Demócrata, the Royal Decree has already cleared the General Commission of Secretaries of State and Under Secretaries. The next step is formal approval by the Council of Ministers on Tuesday 14 April.
– This measure has been made possible by an agreement between Podemos and the Government, allowing the Executive to proceed by royal decree without requiring passage through the lower house of Parliament. It follows the model of the 2005 regularisation carried out under José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero.
– The aim is to provide a legal pathway for thousands of immigrants currently residing in Spain without authorisation by reducing the standard requirements of the immigration system, particularly for initial access to a residence permit.
– Key requirements, based on the draft text released for public consultation by the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration in January, include physical presence in Spain before 31 December 2025, proof of at least five months of effective residence at the time of application, and no relevant criminal record. Notably, no prior work contract will be required for the initial regularisation, marking a significant departure from ordinary procedures and proving one of the most debated elements of the plan.
– Interestingly, Ukrainian refugees holding temporary protection status do not qualify for Spain’s mass regularisation programme.
– Opposition parties have already announced or initiated actions against it.
– Vox has stated it will appeal the decree directly to the Supreme Court (Tribunal Supremo), arguing it constitutes an abusive use of the royal decree mechanism and bypasses proper parliamentary procedure.
– Isabel Díaz Ayuso (PP president of the Madrid region) has confirmed she will challenge the measure in court, citing the expected collapse of public services (health, education, housing) in regions that receive large numbers of newly regularised migrants.
– The Popular Party (PP) has strongly opposed the plan in Parliament and is expected to support or join legal actions, viewing it as an irregular “decretazo” (abuse of decree power).

MALAGA PROVINCE
The water supply in ten municipalities in Malaga is in critical condition due to nitrate levels: {Trans., summary}
– Ten municipalities in the province of Malaga face critical nitrate contamination in their drinking water, according to a Greenpeace map based on the latest SINAC data from the Ministry of Health. The organisation blames intensive agriculture using synthetic fertilisers and intensive livestock farming.
– Nine towns show red-level contamination with nitrate levels between 30 and 50 mg/l: Fuente de Piedra, Cuevas Bajas, Villanueva de Tapia, Archidona, Algarrobo, Benamargosa, Sierra de Yeguas, Alhaurin el Grande and Alora.
– Humilladero reaches black level, exceeding the legal limit of 50 mg/l, meaning tap water was undrinkable at times in 2024.
– Greenpeace calls the 50 mg/l European limit obsolete and urges it be lowered to 6 mg/l.
– Many other areas remain at safe green levels and outnumber the affected zones, including Malaga capital, Rincon de la Victoria, Torrox, El Borge, Macharaviaya, Fuengirola, Ojen, Istan, Estepona, Jubrique, Benarraba, Gaucin, Casarabonela and Carratraca.
– Nitrates, colourless and tasteless nutrients (NO3-), pollute water mainly through fertiliser overuse and animal waste. In excess they harm ecosystems by impairing self-purification in rivers and wetlands, delay recovery in groundwater, and disrupt marine environments, posing risks to biodiversity and human health. MALAGA CITY
The Lyons gang falls, the Scottish network linked to a shooting death in Fuengirola: {Trans., summary}
– The Spanish Civil Guard has dismantled the structure based in Spain, specifically in Málaga, of the notorious ‘Lyons Clan,’ one of the most violent criminal organizations to emerge in Scotland in recent decades, dedicated to all kinds of violent crimes, especially drug trafficking and money laundering. According to a statement released Thursday by the Civil Guard’s General Directorate, Operation Armorum resulted in the arrest of 14 people in Scotland, Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates, and Spain, where seven people were arrested in Málaga . Most of those arrested are British nationals, although some are also Spanish.
– Among the 14 arrested is Steve Lyons, 45, the leader of this criminal group, detained this Wednesday in the Netherlands after being extradited from Indonesia, pursuant to a European Arrest Warrant issued by Spanish authorities. His wife, Amanda Lyons, was also arrested. In addition, the operations carried out in Spain last week resulted in 18 searches, all on the Costa del Sol except for one in Barcelona, in which electronic devices, large amounts of cash, company documents, high-end watches, and cryptocurrencies were seized. The investigation, conducted over three years by the Central Operational Unit (UCO) of the Civil Guard, was carried out in close collaboration with Police Scotland and coordinated by Eurojust. NERJA
The Nerja Museum commemorates International Roma Day with a conference and a show about the legacy of the bulería: {Trans., summary}
– To mark the fifth International Roma Day in the municipality, Nerja is preparing to pay tribute to one of the most deeply rooted cultural identities in our region. Next Saturday, April 11th , at 7:00 pm , the Nerja Museum will host a conference entitled “The Roma Legacy in Flamenco: The Bulería as a Cultural Symbol.”
– This proposal aims to delve deeper into the history and evolution of flamenco , analyzing how the Roma people have been fundamental in shaping flamenco identity. The presentation will be given by Belén Heredia and Gonzalo Peña, who will offer an informative overview to understand the bulería not only as a flamenco style, but also as a true symbol of resistance and cultural cohesion .
– Unlike a traditional conference, this event aims for total audience immersion through live artistic performance. To illustrate the essential role of the Roma community, the talk will be accompanied by a stellar cast: the singing of Alfonso Carpio, the guitar playing of Alejandro Estrada, and the powerful dance of Marina Aranda. In this way, attendees will be able to enjoy a practical demonstration where theory and passion come together to explain the rhythmic complexity and the feeling that surrounds the bulería.
– The organizers remind everyone that access to the event is free and open to the public until the Museum reaches capacity , so those interested are advised to arrive early to secure their place at this unmissable event for flamenco culture and art. TORROX
They demand the expansion of the Torrox wastewater treatment plant in response to urban growth and the PP’s “inaction”: {Trans.}
– The Socialist Municipal Group of Torrox will bring to the next Plenary Session a proposal to urgently promote the expansion of the wastewater treatment plant (EDAR-IARA), given the strong urban growth in areas such as Cerro Lago, Calaceite or Peñoncillo. The Socialist spokesperson, Mari Nieves Ramírez , and councilor Isidro González warn that the current infrastructure, designed for a smaller population, is under increasing pressure that could lead to capacity problems and environmental risks if no action is taken in advance.
– Both officials criticized the “inaction” of the PP governing team and Mayor Óscar Medina. “Torrox is growing without any reinforcement of basic infrastructure, while the local government is more focused on confrontation than on solving real problems,” Ramírez stated. Given this situation, the Socialists propose urging Axaragua to conduct an urgent study on the capacity of the wastewater treatment plant, demanding that the Andalusian Regional Government get involved in financing the expansion, and requiring urban development sectors to comply with their infrastructure obligations. “It is about ensuring orderly and sustainable growth , something that the current government team is not doing,” González concluded.

ALMUÑÉCAR
A woman from Almuñécar was seriously injured after an assault in the entrance of her home: {Trans.}
– An elderly woman, a well-known resident of the La Carrera neighborhood, is recovering after suffering a violent attack last night, Tuesday. The incident occurred between 9:00 and 10:00 p.m., as the victim was returning home.
– The victim’s family filed a formal complaint this afternoon after the woman was discharged from the hospital, where she was treated for cranial and facial fractures. Progress in identifying the alleged assailant was made possible thanks to the building’s security cameras. The Civil Guard now has a memory card containing recordings from both the building entrance and the elevator, the exact location where the violent attack took place.
– Thanks to the analysis of these images, officers arrived shortly afterward at the apartment building where the suspect lives. According to sources close to the family and neighbors, the alleged assailant is known in the area for having a long criminal record and numerous prior complaints. There is concern in the neighborhood, as the individual has been arrested on previous occasions but released after brief stays in mental health facilities.
– “We know who he is and that he has many previous complaints against him, but after spending a few days in specialized centers, he is released again ,” the victim’s family laments. After receiving 14 stitches to her head and being treated for a broken nose and tear duct, the woman is now at home. Despite being discharged from the hospital, the psychological impact and the severity of her head injuries will require constant monitoring and regular medical checkups. Iran publishes a map of the Strait of Hormuz showing the explosive mines it has placed there– The Revolutionary Guard is asking commercial vessels to avoid the main channel due to the deployment of underwater explosives: {Trans., summary}
– The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has called on commercial vessels to avoid the main channel of the Strait of Hormuz owing to the deployment of underwater explosives. Iranian authorities have released a map via local media showing alternative routes and warning of explosive sea mines supposedly laid after United States and Israeli strikes on Iran.
– The Guard urges ships to use new corridors to ensure maritime safety and avoid risk zones. Vessels entering from the Sea of Oman must pass north of Larak Island into the Persian Gulf, while outbound ships must navigate south of the island. More than 800 vessels are reported stranded or waiting on both sides, according to Lloyd’s List. Navigation remains largely suspended following fresh Israeli attacks on Lebanon, with only two non-tanker vessels passing yesterday. – “The Defense Army continues its operations and attacks against military infrastructure belonging to the Hezbollah terrorist group in various areas of the southern suburbs (of Beirut)”, the Arabic-language spokesman for the Israeli Army, Avichay Adraee, warned in a statement. The list of neighborhoods to be evacuated includes Haret Hreik, Gubeiri, Lilaki, Hadath, Borj El Brajne and Tawhida Al Ghadir, but also the areas of Chiyah and Janah, which until now were not usually part of Israeli military advisories.

In collaboration with Sabor a Malaga and Caprisur, the event welcomes renowned chefs including Paco Garcia (El Lago), Mauricio Giovannini (Messina), Miguel Palma (La Taberna de Mike Palmer), Diego del Rio (Boho Club) and Nicolas Somoza (Lena Marbella). Each chef presents their unique interpretation of the juicy, tender suckling goat meat through innovative techniques and preparations that explore its distinctive flavour and texture.
– The restaurant’s signature offering features quarters of Malaga kid goat slow-roasted for hours in a traditional clay wood-fired oven with oak firewood in the purest Castilian style, alongside special creations such as chivo al ajillo with golden garlic, asadurilla de chivo and other chef-driven dishes. Juan and Francisco Javier Gomez preside over the embers, emphasising origin, traceability and authenticity while reinforcing the connection between Malaga cuisine, primary producers and territory.
– Location: Carretera de Álora – Pizarra (A-7077), Km 2.5, 29560 Pizarra (Málaga). It sits roadside on the A-7077, between the towns of Pizarra and Álora, with easy access from Malaga capital (approximately 20–25 minutes by car). The restaurant offers ample free parking and enjoys a rural setting surrounded by nature.

Mammogate Update– Amama affirms that Anabel’s is the first of a cascade of lawsuits that will be presented in court as the deadlines for claims to compensate those affected approach expiration: {Trans., summary}
– Victims of failures in Andalusia’s breast cancer early detection programme are to file individual administrative lawsuits against the Andalusian Health Service (SAS) one by one in the courts of Seville. Ángela Claverol, president of Amama, announced on Tuesday that no other path remains but to sue the Regional Government after months of absolute silence on their claims for damages.
– Anabel, the first woman to claim compensation, for a year long delay in diagnosis, will open the judicial route with a lawsuit to be filed in the coming days. Around 160 patrimonial claims (for compensation, “indemnización”), have already been submitted to the SAS with no response, and between 50 and 60 more are pending registration. Many will expire at the end of April and beginning of May, triggering successive individual lawsuits as deadlines pass.
– Amama stresses that each case is different and that Anabel’s will serve as reference. The association laments that the Regional Government is forcing the women into long and costly court proceedings despite having acknowledged the error.
