Your questions answered by Ruth from Compare Funerals Spain
– Why should I have a funeral plan? Having been funeral planning for over 10 year I’ve experienced some very sad and upset families when nothing is in place. A Spanish funeral plans will ensure that all costs are covered for your funeral service. Getting a prepaid plan will help you feel assured that your family will not be under any financial strain when it comes to paying for your funeral. A plan also means you can have peace of mind that everything has been organised in advance, so your loved ones do not have to make any difficult decisions.
– Why choose Compare Funerals? There seems to be a gap in Spain between independent funeral directors, offering plans at a good price but lacking the security of an established Trust or ability to cover a client overseas and Providers who seem to charge more than necessary. We want to be right in the middle and offer the best of both worlds. Our best-priced plan is only 2,250€ and does the essentials.
– Can I do a payment plan? All our plans are payable in full or over up to 5 years interest FREE. The interest free periods are based on initial deposit. The higher the deposit the less your monthly repayments will be.
– Can I transfer the plan? The answer is YES. You could name 2 people on one plan however if you had a friend/family member pass away we can transfer the plan into a 3rd party’s name.
– What happens if I move? All our plans offer the equivalent service in Spain (including the islands), Portugal, Republic of Ireland and the UK. If you moved to the UK, we would transfer the plan to one of our many partners at no extra cost to you.
– Is paperwork included? Yes, your family will receive a death certificate in Spanish and an international certification in English. We also provide a cremation certificate that allows the ashes on board a plane.

ANDALUCÍA

Wind and waves alert for all of Andalusia this Holy Wednesday: {Translation}
– The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) expects to activate warnings for this Holy Wednesday in the eight provinces of Andalusia for rain, wind and coastal phenomena, so a day is expected to be characterised by meteorological instability throughout the community.
– According to Aemet, the west and the capital of Almeria will be under a wind warning throughout the day, with maximum gusts from the west that can reach 80 kilometres per hour. From 15.00 hours until midnight the risk will be at orange level, with winds of up to 90 kilometres per hour.
– The orange level risk will also be active on the coast of Almería due to coastal phenomena from 11.00 a.m., where westerly winds of 50 and 75 kilometres per hour and waves up to four metres high are expected. Other areas of Almeria affected by warnings on Wednesday are the Almanzora Valley and Los Vélez, and Nacimiento and Campo de Tabernas, which will be on yellow alert for westerly winds with gusts of up to 80 kilometres per hour.
– In Granada, the Meteorological Agency is expected to extend the orange warning for swell on the coast from Tuesday until 10.00 am on Wednesday, with westerly winds of 50 to 75 kilometres per hour and waves of three to four metres. For the rest of the day, a yellow warning is forecast, with winds expected to blow between 50 and 60 kilometres per hour and waves not exceeding three metres. A yellow warning will also remain in force around the coast of Granada, which will remain in force from Tuesday until 18:00 on Wednesday, with winds from the west at a maximum of 70 kilometres per hour.
– In Cadiz, the Aemet is planning to activate the yellow risk for swell in the Strait of Gibraltar, with westerly winds of up to 61 kilometres per hour until 3:00 am. From 12:00 hours, the south-westerly wind will once again cause the activation of the yellow alert in this area and along the coast of Cadiz. In addition, the yellow risk for winds is expected to be in force in the area around the Strait of Gibraltar between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. in the afternoon, with winds from the west that could reach 80 kilometres per hour.
WIND WARNINGS IN THE EIGHT PROVINCES
– The yellow alert for westerly winds of up to 70 kilometres per hour will prevail in almost all Andalusian provinces between 12:00 and 21:00. The areas affected will be, in Cadiz, the Cadiz coast, Grazalema and the countryside; in Cordoba, the areas of Sierra and Pedroches, the countryside and Subbetica Cordobesa; in Granada, the Cuenca del Genil, Guadix and Baza; in Huelva, the coast of Huelva, Aracena, and Andévalo and Condado; in Jaén, the Guadalquivir Valley, and the areas of the capital and Montes de Jaén, Cazorla and Segura, and Morena and Condado.
– To these are added the Malaga areas of Antequera, Ronda, Sol and Guadalhorce and Axarquia, as well as the countryside, the northern sierra and the southern sierra of Seville. Likewise, in the Nevada and Alpujarras areas of Granada, maximum gusts of 80 kilometres per hour are forecast.
– The yellow alert for rain is expected to remain in force throughout the day from the afternoon in the area of Aracena in Huelva, where 40 litres per square metre are expected to accumulate in 12 hours.
HUELVA AND MALAGA, ON YELLOW ALERT FOR COASTAL PHENOMENA
– On the coast of Huelva, a yellow warning will remain in force for swell between 12.00 hours and midnight on Wednesday, with a south-easterly wind forecast to blow at 50 to 61 kilometres per hour.
– This risk will also be active in the Malaga areas of Sol and Guadalhorce, and Axarquia, from Tuesday until 22.00 hours on Wednesday, where the forecast is for westerly winds of 50 to 60 kilometres per hour and waves of two to three metres. RINCÓN DE LA VICTORIA

‘Don’t feed the cats warning’ to members of public in Rincón de la Victoria:
– Rincón de la Victoria town hall on the eastern stretch of the Costa del Sol has handed out special authorisation to six people responsible for looking after the town’s 37 registered cat colonies.
– The councillor for the area Lola Ramos said that the initiative has so far provided six people with the cards who are officially “authorised to feed” the cats. The town hall has held a number of courses through which fifty people have been trained to manage the cat colonies and feed the cats. Those who successfully complete a questionnaire at the end of the course are issued the card.
– Only those volunteers who have town hall authorisation are allowed to feed colony cats. Anyone caught feeding them without the correct authorisation could face fines of between 75 and 500 euros. EUROPE

Spraying manure and throwing beets, farmers in tractors again block Brussels to protest EU policies:
– Farmers threw beets and sprayed manure at police on Tuesday as hundreds of tractors again sealed off streets close to the European Union headquarters, where agriculture ministers sought to ease a crisis that has led to months of protests across the 27-member bloc.
– The farmers are protesting what they see as excessive red tape and unfair trading practices as well as increased environmental measures and cheap imports from Ukraine. “Let us make a living from our profession,” read one billboard on a tractor blocking a main thoroughfare littered with hay, potatoes, eggs and manure.
– As the protests turned into violence, police used tear gas and water cannons to keep farmers and some 250 tractors at bay, even as the ministers met to push through measures meant to calm the crisis. Authorities asked commuters to stay out of Brussels and work from home as much as possible.
– With protests taking place from Finland to Greece, Poland and Ireland, the farmers have already won concessions from EU and national authorities, from a loosening of controls on farms to a weakening of pesticide and environmental rules. UK

WikiLeaks’ Julian Assange’s US extradition appeal delayed:
– Julian Assange’s extradition has been delayed as the UK High Court ruled the United States must give assurances he will not face the death penalty. In a judgment on Tuesday morning, Dame Victoria Sharp and Mr Justice Johnson dismissed most of the WikiLeaks founder’s legal arguments for leave to appeal against an earlier ruling which paved the way for his extradition to the US.
– However the judges said that unless assurances were given by the United States he would be able to bring an appeal on three grounds. These assurances are that Assange would be protected by and allowed to rely on the First Amendment – which protects freedom of speech in the US, that he is not “prejudiced at trial” due to his nationality, and that the death penalty is not imposed.

SCAMS

They warn in Malaga of false job offers- easy, well paid and low training: {Translation, summary}
– The scheme begins with the advertisement of a job offer, mainly through social networks, although they also use instant messaging or websites where the user registers.
– Once the attention of the potential victim has been captured, they would contact them to establish the working conditions, offering variable economic amounts, ranging from five to 50 euros, in exchange for watching videos, subscribing to content creation pages or clicking the ‘like’ button on certain publications.
– As they have explained, at the beginning the worker starts earning small amounts, commissions that incentivise and reward the victim with no other aim than to gain their trust and involvement in the job. Once the first easy and well-paid income has been obtained, the worker will trust that the job is legal, convincing himself of its high profitability.
– It is at this point that they ask for a deposit or transfer in exchange for greater profitability in the “orders”, which is the moment when the scam is consummated. It has also been found that in some cases personal data used for other criminal purposes, financial fraud or identity theft or the stealthy installation of malicious software on the victim’s device to gain access to the content of their terminals, are requested.
– In order to avoid these scams, the police have recommended not to share personal information and data that could be used by third parties to commit fraud or identity theft, as well as to be wary of job offers with high pay for an easy job. They also urge people to check the authenticity of the advert, of the website where they are asked to register their personal details and of the person offering the job.
