Your questions answered by Ruth from Compare Funerals Spain
– Why should I have a funeral plan? Having been funeral planning for over 10 year I’ve experienced some very sad and upset families when nothing is in place. A Spanish funeral plans will ensure that all costs are covered for your funeral service. Getting a prepaid plan will help you feel assured that your family will not be under any financial strain when it comes to paying for your funeral. A plan also means you can have peace of mind that everything has been organised in advance, so your loved ones do not have to make any difficult decisions.
– Why choose Compare Funerals? There seems to be a gap in Spain between independent funeral directors, offering plans at a good price but lacking the security of an established Trust or ability to cover a client overseas and Providers who seem to charge more than necessary. We want to be right in the middle and offer the best of both worlds. Our best-priced plan is only 2,250€ and does the essentials.
– Can I do a payment plan? All our plans are payable in full or over up to 5 years interest FREE. The interest free periods are based on initial deposit. The higher the deposit the less your monthly repayments will be.
– Can I transfer the plan? The answer is YES. You could name 2 people on one plan however if you had a friend/family member pass away we can transfer the plan into a 3rd party’s name.
– What happens if I move? All our plans offer the equivalent service in Spain (including the islands), Portugal, Republic of Ireland and the UK. If you moved to the UK, we would transfer the plan to one of our many partners at no extra cost to you.
– Is paperwork included? Yes, your family will receive a death certificate in Spanish and an international certification in English. We also provide a cremation certificate that allows the ashes on board a plane.

The internet is the yellow pages of the new millennium, just as you needed a phone number for your biz in the last century, now we use our own unique web-links. Social media pages are not nearly as good, as it only shows that you are: too cheap to get your own website, and that you are inconsiderate enough to force potential clients to wade thru layers of social media dreck to try and find you. That reflects poorly on your biz. Do you want someone working on your valuable items who can’t afford a website?
– WordPress provides good support for beginners willing to do a little reading, or follow tutorials. Excellent setup for users interested in using a Linux system but not yet ready to give up on Windows. With this dual-boot setup you can choose to boot either Windows or Debian. Debian Linux looks much like Windows 10, so it is not difficult to use. Plus, being a Linux system, all your software is free. Most common Windows programs are now available for Debian.
The Debian system can access the files in the Windows system, but Windows cannot access files on the Debian system. So, for example, if you are working on a new document in Libre Office with Debian, you can still copy/paste from documents saved in Windows.

SPAIN
Sanchez Gov’t Now Blocking The Independence Initiatives It Promised To Gain The Famous “7 Investiture Votes” That Put Them In Power: {Translation}
– The Minister Spokesperson, Pilar Alegría, has responded to the Catalan President, Pere Aragonès, that his proposal for a referendum on self-determination for Catalonia is “absolutely antagonistic” to the Government’s position and “is not wanted by the majority of Catalan society”, insisting on her rejection: “No and no”. “If this proposal is in line with what this government has always maintained and defended (“always maintained and defended”??? Sanchez was against Catalan independence in 2017, then accepted and even promoted it it due to election-blackmail in 2023, and now is back to no, reneging on the deal that got him elected. -Ed.), I say no, it is absolutely antagonistic”, Alegría said when asked at the press conference following the Council of Ministers about the Generalitat’s recent proposal for a popular consultation on the independence of Catalonia, which would be based on article 92 of the Spanish Constitution.
– The Minister of Education, Vocational Training and Sport also defended the fact that the Executive seeks “the path of reunion”, reconciliation and unity, which is why “this is” where they will continue “working and moving forward”. He also affirmed that this position is shared by a “majority of Catalan society” who want “a policy of progress” for the region.
– In this sense, she reiterated the “absolute” disagreement with the holding of a referendum as proposed by Aragonès. “No, and we do not share this position at all (…) our position is clear, it is radically opposed, it is coexistence, it is reunion, it is to continue moving forward”, she stressed.
– Questioned on whether the Executive has the credibility to reject a referendum after having previously been against it and then years later supporting it, Alegría limited herself to saying that the Amnesty Law registered by the PSOE in Congress is “very different” to the one registered in the past by the pro-independence parties. ANDALUCÍA
Andalusia to “relax” water restrictions thanks to Easter rains: {Translation, summary}
– The Andalusian Government has advocated this Tuesday for relaxing the restrictions currently in force on the human consumption of water in the hydrographic demarcations under its jurisdiction, Andalusian Mediterranean, Guadalete-Barbate and Tinto-Odiel-Piedras, with an aim to guarantee domestic use first and foremost, and then to ensure that productive sectors such as agriculture and industry also benefit. The Regional Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development, Carmen Crespo, gave voice to this approach this Tuesday at the press conference following the meeting of the Governing Council.
– With the idea that the figures for the increase in water in reservoirs, 1,260 cubic hectometres in one week, which have allowed reserves to reach 4,781 hectometres, almost 40% of the region’s capacity, which is almost 12,000 cubic hectometres, “makes us more optimistic” about “being able to improve the water situation”, Crespo said.
– The councillor pointed to the idea that “the rains are a relief but they are not the solution” and asked “not to launch campaigns in vain”, and while awaiting the imminent convening of the drought monitoring committees, she gave figures on how the current restrictions could be modified, which are an average consumption of 160 litres per person per day, a level that she assured “can be modified” to move to a range that she has placed “between 180, 200, 225 litres per person”.
– The drought committees, which are expected to meet shortly, will also analyse the relaxation of the ban on filling private and communal swimming pools, especially on the Costa del Sol. MOTRIL
The beaches of Motril again suffer serious damage after the Easter storms: {Translation, summary}
– The beaches of Motril have suffered damage during the Easter holidays which has affected the state of the coastal beaches. Motril Town Council has stated that this new episode “calls into question the investment made by the Central Government to alleviate the damage caused by previous storms in the town and which aimed to improve the state of our beaches”. The Mayoress of Motril, Luisa García Chamorro, together with the Deputy Mayor in charge of Beaches, José Peña, visited one of the critical points of the coast to see how the reconstruction and improvement work is progressing after the latest storms, and to demand that the work on the breakwater be carried out urgently to shorten the deadlines.
– Luisa García Chamorro exclaimed that “Motril does not need more transfers of sand but what really needs to be done is to undertake the work on the breakwater at Punta del Santo as a matter of urgency” because, “of the 50,000 cubic metres transported to this point, more than 80% has been lost with the storms of the last week alone”.
– For his part, the deputy mayor of Playas, José Peña, has described the actions undertaken as “insufficient” since the recovery of the Granada coast after the last transfers, together with the storm that devastated during the Easter period, has left Playa Granada “in really bad conditions for the image of Motril, local businesses and our visitors.” Source & Photo, Spanish: https://www.granadadigital.es/playas-motril-vuelven-sufrir-graves-desperfectos-tras-temporales-semana-santa/
