¡Minigolf La Herradura!:
– Ladies, Gentlemen and Kurt, Hold on to your hats! You know it, you love it, you probably could but should not live without it: Crazy Golf has arrived on the Costa Tropical.
– As its name would suggest, Minigolf La Herradura is in fact located in the picturesque “Horseshoe” bay, just on the Granada side of the border with Málaga province. There you will find 18 holes designed for the whole family, a mix of easy to intermediate holes modeled on a Scandinavian campsite model.
– Also included is an area for racquet sports and lawn games. Air Badminton and volleyball (wind permitting), practice your tennis short game, paddle tennis basic instruction such as serving and volleying technique, etc. All equipment is provided free of charge. Lawn games include croquet, ring tossing and several games designed for youngsters.
– If that were not enough, there are two petanca (boules) lanes with sets of balls for children and adults and proper “river” sand. Not just for pensioners, if you get a kick out of knocking away your spouse’s or friend’s ball sitting confidently near the “boliche” with your final toss and stealing the game, then age doesn’t matter.
– And, crazy but true, all of this fun is available for one single price that includes unlimited play for the day. Play some minigolf activity, head to one of La Herradura’s many fine beachfront eateries and return for more fun.
– Now is the perfect time to visit Minigolf La Herradura, we are still on winter prices: Five euros for 12 and unders, 7,50€ for 13 and over. If your jaw just dropped and you’re in a state of disbelief, feel free to ring proprietor Scott Huston on +34 603 416 632.
– We could not be easier to find. We are just two streets off the Paseo, directly behind the market, Centro de Salud, post office and childrens’ playground. For more information on opening hours, a Google map of our location (contact tab), photos, etc, visit our website: http://www.minigolflh.es
Hope to see you soon, Scott /La Herradura

MOONETTE – Organic Skincare for Mature Skin

We are a Torrox-based company specialising in the creation of formulae which help prevent premature skin ageing. We are committed to making effective products at affordable prices.
Your skin health matters to us. How you feed your skin is as important as how you feed your body. Why settle for anything less than natural and organic?
As our skin is the first layer of our defence against microbial infections, ultraviolet radiation and environmental contamination it plays a vital role in our health. As we grow older, however, our skin becomes thinner, wrinkled, and more sensitive; hence it requires the use of treatments containing specific ingredients to the care of treating mature skin.
Recognising this need we have created a range of formulae which help
-slow down ageing process by smoothing fine lines and wrinkles.
-improve facial complexion and eliminate blemishes.
At Moonette, we are passionate about health, beauty and plants. Your skin will benefit from the properties of botanic essential oils combined with a selection of nutrients for deep hydration, cell revitalization and antioxidant effect, all sourced from the finest natural ingredients with gorgeous fragrances.
Naturally, we care about our planet and feel the need to help reduce the sheer volumes of plastics waste that are generated daily around the globe. Presently, we are minimizing the usage of plastic materials in our production while seeking alternative forms of packaging. To help reduce pollution we are asking all local customers to recycle or reuse their Moonette skincare containers, and offering a small discount on future purchases to customers recycling containers.

Supreme Court agrees with company that requires workers to sign in and compensate for smoke or coffee breaks:
{Translation}
– The Supreme Court has ruled in favour of a company that was sued because after installing new turnstiles to clock in and control the working day, the company requires employees to make up time for breaks to smoke or have a coffee.
– The case affects the company Galp, explained sources of the Supreme Court to 20minutos, and the ruling considers that the complainants, the CC OO union representing the employees, has not been able to prove a change in working conditions after the implementation of a new tool to control the working day.
– The CC OO union had complained that the installation of turnstiles in the Galp company had entailed “a substantial modification of working conditions” because it had begun to monitor the time that workers spent on the day’s outings, whether it was breakfast, smoking or drinking coffee, in order to deduct them from the actual working day. Banks shoot up 83% the cost of renegotiating mortgages with record interest rates: {Translation, summary}
– Spanish banks have shot up 83% in one year the cost of renegotiating mortgages to change the conditions in the midst of the unabated rise of the Euribor. The average interest rate they apply has now reached 3%, a record level and a disincentive for families with loans linked to Euribor to switch to fixed rates, despite the financial sector’s agreement with the Government to eliminate the fee for modifying the characteristics of the loan.
– The European Central Bank (ECB) has raised interest rates by 300 basis points since July to tackle the price crisis and is pushing up variable mortgage payments to unsustainable levels for families: they are rising by up to 600 euros a month. And it may go further, with another 0.5 percentage point rise in the price of money this month, which may lead many families to take refuge in fixed-rate mortgages as a solution to contain variations in their budgets.
– The TEDR (Effective Rate of Restricted Definition) interest rate, which is equivalent to the TAE annual percentage rate but excluding all fees, on new renegotiations reached a record high of 3% in January, according to the latest statistics from the Bank of Spain. A year ago it was 1.64%.

MALAGA

Malaga environmentalists call for end to subtropical fruit boom:
– Environmental action group GENA-Ecologists in Action has written a letter to Andalucía’s regional government, the Junta, warning about what it describes as the “subtropical boom”.
– In 2020 GENA published a report, ‘The subtropical boom and water collapse in the Axarquia’, which mapped the Axarquía’s agricultural land use in 2017. “By that time, the limits of sustainability of the water system had already been exceeded,” explained Yus.
– In his opinion, the situation, “far from slowing down, is continuing, even in the middle of a drought, regardless of the estimates of the authorities”. Yus believes that “it is appropriate to warn people again about the consequences of this continuous, uncontrolled and excessive growth.” Full article: https://www.surinenglish.com/malaga/axarquia/malaga-environmentalists-call-for-end-subtropical-boom-20230308171748-nt.html

EUROPE

Russia launches deadly air strikes on multiple cities across Ukraine:
– Russia unleashed a massive missile barrage on cities across Ukraine early Thursday, targeting energy infrastructure facilities and killing at least five, Ukrainian officials and media said.
“This Thursday morning has seen the worst long-range rocket and drone attack on Ukraine for several weeks, with [an] air alert that lasted for five hours overnight and nine regions of Ukraine affected,” FRANCE 24 correspondent Gulliver Cragg reported. (Breaking News: American radio stations news services are now reporting that Russia used their next generation hypersonic missiles in some of these attacks, and that these missiles, capable of travelling at Mach 7, easily evaded US supplied anti-missile systems. -Ed.) TRAVEL NEWS

Spain’s Imserso subsidized holidays for pensioners scheme to feature more destinations and high-speed trains as well as coach travel:
– The Institute for the Elderly and Social Services (Imserso) will increase the number of places available by 70,000 to reach 900,000. And for the 2023-24 season it will be possible to travel to all provinces in Spain, from the 18 currently available to 52. In addition, ten new cultural circuits will be incorporated into the new programme along with 19 new nature routes.
– This new season will also include, on a pilot basis, some trips with specific themes such as literary, musical or theatre festival itineraries. There will also be an increase in the number of single-occupancy rooms, rising from 2 per cent to 10 per cent of the total.
– Another important modification will focus on the category of the hotels chosen, their accessibility and meals, as well as the leisure options on offer. Transport comfort will also be improved, and users will be encouraged to travel more by AVE high -speed train rather than by coach for longer journeys.
– The price will also vary, but the Ministry of Social Rights stresses that “in no case” will it be higher than the increase in pensions, and the fares will be “equally accessible and adjusted”. As the ministry points out, 78 per cent of the cost of the trip is covered by each beneficiary and 22 per cent by the state. Tennis News- Teen Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz Aiming For Indian Wells Glory With Novak Djokovic And Rafael Nadal Absent – ‘I’m Ready’:
– Carlos Alcaraz insists he is “ready” for Indian Wells and has played down any injury concerns. The 19-year-old was injured in his Rio Open final defeat to Cameron Norrie on February 26 and withdrew from Acapulco the following week with a hamstring injury. But the world No. 2 has made a swift recovery and is in the main draw for Indian Wells aiming to win his third ATP Masters 1000 tournament.
– Should Alcaraz win Indian Wells, he would leapfrog Novak Djokovic into No. 1 in the ATP rankings. Djokovic withdrew from Indian Wells after being denied entry to the United States, while Rafael Nadal is also out as he continues to recover from injury. TECH

Self Propelled Camping Trailers To Allow Greater Range With Electric Vehicles:
– Lightship promises that its L1 trailer will be three times more aerodynamic than a traditional travel trailer and capable of offsetting its weight using an all-electric propulsion system based around an 80-kWh battery.
– Lightship aims to keep range/efficiency loss near zero so that a 300-mile electric vehicle maintains its full 300 miles of range with the L1 in tow and a gas truck that gets 25 mpg (9.4 L/100km) without a trailer also gets 25 mpg with an L1 riding on the hitch. Or at least somewhere close.
– Plans call for the L1’s EV-size battery system to power both the motor drive and all onboard appliances and equipment, eliminating the need for gasoline, diesel or propane and ensuring silent, zero-emissions operation at camp. A huge roof-mounted solar array with up to 3,000 watts will help keep the battery full and the camper operating off-grid for up to a week. Lightship also mentions “connected features” but doesn’t go into further detail. Full article: https://newatlas.com/outdoors/lightship-self-propelled-electric-camping-trailer/

SCIENCE

Viable superconducting material created at moderate temperature and pressure:
– In a historic achievement, University of Rochester researchers have created a superconducting material at both a temperature and pressure low enough for practical applications.
– Scientists have been pursuing this breakthrough in condensed matter physics for more than a century. Superconducting materials have two key properties: electrical resistance vanishes, and the magnetic fields that are expelled pass around the superconducting material. Such materials could enable:
*Power grids that transmit electricity without the loss of up to 200 million megawatt hours (MWh) of the energy that now occurs due to resistance in the wires
*Frictionless, levitating high-speed trains
*More affordable medical imaging and scanning techniques such as MRI and magnetocardiography

Churches & Worship

New Life Church: Whether you live in Nerja or are visiting our area, you are very welcome to come and join us at our Sunday gathering. Join us for a time of Holy Spirit led worship and experience the presence of our God. Our teaching is Bible based as we honour God and obey His Word. During this time of uncertainty, God’s Word reminds us that the Gospel shines brightest in times of darkness. Our service lasts for about 1 hour and 30 mins. With Tea and Coffee afterwards.
Jesus said, “I am the Way and the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me”. John 14:6

El Puente Christian Fellowship:
We are a friendly, multi-national, Bible believing community of Christ. We meet each Sunday at 11am to worship the Lord. We enjoy a time of worship with contemporary songs and traditional hymns, and a message brought to us by our Pastor, one of our members or a visiting speaker.
Bible study is at 6pm on Tuesdays.
The church meeting hall is situated underneath Maroma Inmobiliaria, Puente don Manuel, Cruce de Periana, 29713.
Full directions and further information can be found on our Facebook page, or you can contact us by email on elpuentechristianfellowship@gmail.com or by phone on 665 62 63 42.
For those who cannot join us in person, we aim to stream Sunday services via the Facebook page (subject to a good internet connection).

If you can’t get to church, we live-stream our Sunday services on Facebook, and also gather on Zoom for an informal service on Wednesday mornings.
Sign up for our newsletter by emailing Father Louis at malagachaplain@gmail.com to receive login details, and news of other future events. We look forward to welcoming you and being of service.
